Seeing this post I figured I ought to contribute, after subscribing to this subreddit for several months. I'm a 25 yearold heteroflexible male. I'm short and have long hair, work as an engineer, and I live in a medium sized college town. I went out with 7 women in November, all in some way connected with the okcupid. During October and November I messaged about 40 women with short messages, and ended up messaging with about 10. Chronologically:

1 I met in a dive bar my first night out "sarging" with a friend. I opened a set with the original intention to talk to a particular girl, but I ended up in an interesting (math grad student related) conversation. I ended up mingling with other people and hopping bars, but ran across her as "online now," having just setup an okcupid profile. IMed her, we chatted for a while and setup a date, which she flaked on (with a phone call) the day of. A few weeks later I sent her a text on an unseasonably pretty afternoon and we went for a hike. It was nice, I practiced a little bit of kino and other intentional behaviors. Overall I wasn't significantly attracted, text messaged back and forth a few times a week or so later, but never pursued any further.

2 Met with the "what are you going to be for halloween," suggestion on OKcupid. I actually made an [FR] for her. Absurd as it may be, I ended up going out with her one more time, after she text messaged me a few times. Met at a bar at 7, she said she had to leave at 9 to go to a female friend's house in the next down over. She was flirtly and touched me often, but she rejected my kiss later on before she split. Going in to the date I decided I was going to try to kiss her at some point, so it could either go somewhere or just be done. Done.

3 Really cute, smart, successful girl. She actually messaged me on okcupid. We met at a coffeeshop, moved to get beers, then sushi, then it was midnight and she said she had to go (snoesnowing early in the morning). It was fun hoping around downtown with her, there was light but good kino and lots of laughing. I probably shouldn't have talked about pot and ethenogenics. She seemed a bit shy and old fashioned. There was a hesitation when we said goodbye where our bikes were locked up, and I should have tried to kiss her. I didn't. Oh well. I texted her a few days later, she didn't respond. A few days later I okcupid messaged her something related to what we had been talking about, she pretty quickly replied and apologized for not responding to the text. I said she should come to a bluegrass show, but she said she was busy that night. I sent her another message a few days later but she never replied. I didn't try again after that, I probably should have. It's been almost a month now, so that one might have gotten away. I imagine she has a lot of other guys around, especially from okcupid land.

4 Only 20 years old, at the local college but still lives with her parents a town over. We got to messaging on okcupid, talked about a special kind of tea, and ended up taking her to a coffee-shop my friend owns to get it. We walked by the creek, ended up kissing, and then hold hands and making out at various outside locations. It seemed to jive pretty well, though around 3 hours in (around sundown) she left to "do homework." That night she sent me an apologetic message she thoughts I was a "great person" saying she wasn't into it. I can say for sure I didn't see us as having any long term relationship potential, and it came on pretty fast physically, so perhaps some combination of that (and being 20) made her react strongly (or not strongly enough).

5 Messaged for a while, met in a coffeehouse. We had some good conversation, ended up talking to the guy in the next table over about how he raised and locally released black-widow egg-sacks o_0, and moved on to a bar. Had some beers, talked some more, and I said I had to go home for work in the morning. On the way back to the vehicles we stopped at a window to look at some paintings. In a moment of hesitation when we were looking into each others eyes she kissed me. We then became hand-holdy and snuggled while walking down the sidewalk in the cold. Went out a second time for beer and soup, did more sidewalk kissing and such, and I had to go home for in the morning work again (both were weekday dates across two weeks). The third date we cooked dinner and my house and she spent the night. The forth date we did dinner and a live music show, with lots of dancing and a really good time overall, also ending at my house for the night. She brought over thanksgiving leftovers last week, and we got crepes in the morning after sleeping in late. We'll probably do something this Saturday. She's been once or twice texting me every day recently, I take a while and respond usually. I'm concerned she might be wanting to take this in an exclusive relationship direction, but she's going overseas for a year, leaving in a month. I enjoy her and she frequently surprises me well, but I'm not feeling something serious or exclusive. I want to act ethically, but we haven't had a "what are we?" talk yet.

6 She messaged me on okcupid. We met at a bookstore and then went to a coffee-shop. We didn't click on so many levels. About half way into the date I decided to experiment with bad technique, like talking heavy handedly about atheism (she's catholic) and drugs, all things I that are true of me but expressed far less tactfully than I normally might (not that was trying to be an ass, just a little too-much-information). Hopefully she would be less interested in me as a result. This seemed to work, and we called it a night early. She did say I should call her when we said goodbye, curiously.

7 We had been messaging for a long time on okcupid, leading up to her moving here from another state. She arrived, and a week or so later met up at a coffee-shop. We moved on to sushi, after things started going flowing. We got along well, she's cool and has a lot of interests and quirks that click with me. I said I had to go home to get sleep for work in the morning when it started getting late. We talked for another 30 minuets or so. I walked her back to her car for a dozen blocks, and she offered to give me a ride to my bike (which was very close, but "sure!"). When we finished driving the three or four blocks there, she said she had a good time, she was free on Thursday and I should give her a text if I want to hang out again. I said something like "My schedule is busy but I'm up for fun things." There was a moment of hesitation, I looked her in eyes, and she leaned over and somewhat sheepishly kissed me. I smiled and said "see ya later, Jane," and got out of the car and waved goodbye. I texted her today (three days later), using a nickname we came up with for her on the date, and we're going out again tomorrow. I like this girl, and am looking forward to seeing it move forward. Her name is not really Jane.

Overall I'm pleased with being able to meet this many women as a result of 5 or 6 net hours of okcupid-ing. There were a couple more I had trouble scheduling with (mostly my side), that I didn't really follow up on. I've become somewhat more confident and easy going with going out with girls. I've gotten better at keeping up the flow and energy of a date downtown, jumping between locations and finding nice moments along the way. Showing signs of being less interested, like saying I have to go home, seem to work well. Be the first to leave. Kino is critical, and with the possible exception of the 20 yearold, seems to be universally well received. Taking it slow and light with texting or phone calls is good. At times it's been hard to keep all the things I've learned about each person straight. I'm going to have to get better with handling things after I've been on 5 - 6 dates and want to keep it casual. I've had problems with things getting too serious for my liking over the past year. I've met some people at events in regular real life, which could be its own set of field reports, but these are the most noteworthy dates I've had going on.

Hopefully some of this is helpful in some way. Thanks for initiating some positive changes in me, seddit.
