So I just got back from a date with this girl which I already seen two times. This time we are in some quiet but really warm cafe place, she's having a coffee and i'm drinking a beer. Starts of slow because she's chainsmoking 4 cigarettes but we start talking, she keeps continuing the conversation, however she is sitting next to me but still somewhat far away. She literally sat between two tables for some reason. I go to the toilet, come back and sit closer to her. We get back to talking, she keeps on going and I put my arm around her, and when im talking i keep touching her shoulder in a certain way and an occasional leg touch thrown in there. The conversation keeps getting better and better, shes laughing and all that but I start to notice something - she hasn't looked me in the eyes once. Which was weird because on the first date when we just talked she at least tried to give eye contact. So there we are, my arm is in complete pain but still around her, talking about would she ever fuck a professor for a passing grade, and she wouldn't even turn her head in my direction. At least she paid for my beer so whatever. We head home and i suddenly understand im kinda pissed, so when it's time to say goodbye i just kiss her on the cheek, set up a date tomorrow and call it a night.

What was I supposed to do better? If she would just look at me while talking it would be so much easier?
