Here's what I do, although really it only works for me. My name is Montel (even though I'm white) and I mention that I was named after Montel Williams the black TV host. And then I ask who she was named after and she will say "My Grandmother was called Katherine so I was named after her" and then I know. This also works with obscure middle names. You could ask for her snapchat and it will probably have her name in the username.

I did this once and my way out was to make a joke of it. The next time I saw her after the rejection I made a joke and said "Hey honey, my eyes are up here" and smiled to convey my sarcasm. I always keep digital conversation to a minimum. If I were you I would text her something along the lines of "I'm free at the weekend and I hear the new bar in town is good. Want to come with me? could be fun." (obviously you'll need to tailor it to your situation). Really the only other time I text is to make sure she got home safe.
