Apparently people like field reports, so I'll post one about a party I went to a few days back!

I'm a foreigner in Japan and I live near this city's main university, I'm not a student there, but I go to many events there and thus know many students. There was a Christmas party held in the foreign exchange student common room, so the people there were a mix between foreigners from all parts of the world, as well as Japanese. I'd say about 60% were Japanese natives, and at its peak there were probably about 50-60 people there.

I arrive somewhat early and there aren't too many people there. I begin by going around and talking to some people I already know, but I kind of suck at small-talk so it doesn't last too long. I take off my makeshift tinsel scarf, and someone points out that it's left a massive green dye stain around my neck (damn 100yen store crap!) so I spend the next 10mins in the toilet cleaning it off.

When I come back, I grab a drink and don't see anyone I particularly want to talk to, but fuck that, I'm not standing there doing nothing! So I just talk to 2 chodes until more people turn up. I go back for another drink and I see 2 girls near the bar, one was pretty cute so I open them. Everything's going well with both of them, but the hotter one isn't really showing any interest, and her friend just can't stop touching me. So I sort of lose interest and go and talk to some other people.

I see this other girl who I've met several times before, the first time we met she was showing me loads of interest, but she wasn't really my type so I didn't do anything. Not 5 seconds after I greet her, she walks up grabs the back of my neck and goes for a kiss. I stop her before she gets there, and she manages to spill some of my drink, and I say 'this happens every time' referring to the drink spilling (someone always knocks it!). And she says 'which bit?' lol. She actually tries to kiss me like this twice more later in the night, but it's not going to happen.

Later on I see this hot Thai girl who I've seen a few times before, but never talked to. We talk a bit and I later notice people have finally begun dancing and I join them. I dance quite a bit and at one point I talk to this cute girl I kind of know and she's with her really cute friend, I begin talking to both of them and they both kind of give me the 'I want your dick' eyes. I kind of separate the really cute one from her friend and get her to show me some sexy dance moves and she's really giving me 'I want your dick eyes', but quite soon after they tell me they have to go to sleep early due to class tomorrow. She asks me to add her on FB, I said she should add me instead if she can remember my name, and they leave (she never added me!).

The night's still young, and I continue dancing loads and I dance with the aforementioned Thai girl a few times, but after a few hours I need a bit of a break so I sit down. I sit with this guy I sort of know and make some small-talk, the conversation eventually goes to him asking me which girl I like the most in the room. I have no clue really, so I scan the room from left to right slowly, and as I get toward the right I see the Thai girl and I point to her, she sees this and comes over.

She stands in front of me and I introduce her to my friend and they talk a bit, after a minute or so I tell her to sit down and pull her onto my left leg, my friend is on my right so I can see them both. We talk a bit and the Thai girl's face ends up being really really close to mine, I complain that my leg hurts from her weight and she stands up, I then pull her down onto my right leg and say that my left one needs a rest. At this point I can't even see my friend lol, her face again ends up really close to mine.

At this point in my head I'm like 'this is on!', so I go for a make-out but I only manage a peck on the lips and she pulls away and says 'not here' and manages to get away from me. She vanishes and I continue dancing, I notice her at one point talking to some guy, but from what I could see there was nothing going on. Later on she comes back to the dance-floor and I eventually end up dancing with her again.

We talk a bit while dancing and she even asks me if I have a girlfriend, I said no and she said something like 'really? I thought you would have', I ask if she had a boyfriend and she says no. Soon after, it's on again and her face ends up really close to mine, this time on the dance-floor, I go for a make-out again and our tongues touch but then she pulls back and vanishes again (wtf?). You may have guessed it, I then continue dancing again.

Toward the end of the night I see her sat next to the aforementioned guy, and they were talking a bit (but I saw no hints of sexual anything going on). I sit next to her and begin talking to the guy, he seems cool but again, I kind of fail at small-talk so nothing much happens, and he soon leaves. I then talk to the Thai girl for the next hour or so toward the end of the night (coming on day) about lots of random stuff. I ask her when I'll see her next and I don't even remember what she said, but I suggested she come to some dinner party I'm having with my friends, she seems interested but remarked that she doesn't know any of my friends.

I get my phone out and go to add her to FB, but I only know her first name, and several people came up. She wouldn't tell me which one was her, so I just picked the top one and she pulled out her phone and looked at her pending friend invites list and said. 'I'm not sure if I should add this strange person, do you know him?', pointing to my request, then asks me if she should press accept or ignore. I tell her I'm not sure and she turns the phone away from me and presses one, a few seconds later my phone vibrates!

We talk about other things and I mention my love of bacon, she says she also loves bacon, so we'd never get along (she must have read more sidebar stuff than me!). At this point it's the two of us on this long sofa, and a few others on the other side of the room. We're both pretty tired now as it's about 4:30 and I've been dancing for over 5hrs, she goes to bed as she lives in the dorms there. I stick around and talk to the remaining 4 people, and we leave a while after that.

The next day over FB I tell her the time and place of my dinner party and give her my number. She doesn't reply, but texts me saying she'd like to come, but doesn't know how she'd get back to the dorms at night. I tell her we can share a taxi on the way back and split, as I live about half way. She asks if I'd reserved her a seat, I say I already reserved an extra in case so it doesn't matter either way. She then asks if I'd be charged for it, I said no, but if she does come, she'd need to wear a Santa hat. She said she stole her Santa hat from someone at the party and that she didn't have one. She doesn't turn up, but I shoot her a text asking if she was coming anyway. She replies an hour or so later apologizing for not coming and said she went to buy a present but didn't bring her phone, and asked if I waited for her. I replied saying we didn't, but I was just wondering if we'd be leaving her out in the rain.

She asked how the dinner was and by the time I got back it was about 1AM, so noon the next day I told her it went well, and asked if she found a Santa hat yet. She replies at around 11PM saying she couldn't find it in the room where the party was held. And today after lunch via text I remark that she's supposed to be studying Japanese, so in Japanese I ask 'Are you free on Friday? Let's go Christmas shopping'. This Friday is a national holiday so I figured it's probably my best bet, but she hasn't replied yet! (fffuuuuuuuu I hate waiting)
