First, let me state I didn't expect this post to be this long. I intended on writing a field report but then I also wanted to introduce myself and explain my whole “PUA” story. I will write the field report in a separate post. This ended up being introduction post so it will detail many of my motivations and thoughts on seduction material. I also strongly urge those who read things and have never taken action to read this post – I will save you years of your life.

I may start using this subreddit with field reports to act as a sort of journal for me becoming good with women. I've been reading seduction material for the past 3-4 years while taking minimal action. The problem is I start to read one article which convinced me I needed to read 5 more to expand upon what I just read. I got sucked into the endless loop of reading articles and living vicariously through other peoples’ field reports, for a very long time. It wasn’t until recently that I began adopting a more humanist view of seduction that it was time for me to truly take action. I roll my eyes the second anyone mentions “The Game” being a good starting point for seduction.

There were a couple of things that broke me out of the loop. One catalyst was reading “Models” by Mark Manson. The book finally made me realize there is nothing more to be read, only things to do. Another was watching this movie clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcsBvX10h74&t=1m30s . Replace “sales rep” with “pick up artist” and it works out all too well. Reading all this material in the comfort of your chair is nothing more than avoidance. I won’t even read other posts in /r/seduction, now I would just feel disgusted with myself for doing so.

A lot of PUA material attempts to use a one-size-fits-all approach that doesn’t work. Everyone here is at completely different points in their lives, and has different goals. I am a senior in college recovering from a mild depression. I recently ended a 3-year relationship I wasn’t happy in and just want to have fun at the moment. My end goal is to have several friends with benefits, and become a fun, confident, and successful man. Having a girl text me to come over and have sex with her is still something so far outside my realm of reality and I wish that to not be the case.

So for those still reading this, I recommend the following if you still haven’t done much: If you think you suffer from any sort of depression, get “Feeling Good” by David Burns. Next, if you think you suffer from “nice-guy-ism” I recommend “No More Mr. Nice Guy” by Robert Glover. Because of reading No More Mr. Nice Guy, I will be attending a male support group that will help me get over a lot of shit from my past, as well as all this PUA crap that has totally messed with my head. And then finally to get better with women, “Models” by Mark Manson. Don’t think you can skip the first two. I would also recommend joining /r/nofap, it has done much for me, honestly. And lastly, stop reading any other PUA crap.

I used to have such a messed up mindset. A mindset that figured maybe I could still be this kind of depressed person, clamoring for female validation, and if I just knew the right things to say at the right time, I could be so happy. That being depressed and getting that validation would be so much better than being truly happy and getting it, because I wouldn’t want it as much if I was happy. Yeah, what the fuck, right?

So, I hope I’ve helped some people reconsider their inaction. I know I have so much more to say but I will stop now. Off to my first “field report”.
