I think that's too anecdotal. After all, I make good money sitting in front of a computer, and I can do this till I'm 100+ years old; and the future is going to involve more computing, not less. Delayed might be the wrong word. I invested my teens purely into technology and art. It's paid back nice dividends later on but it sure didn't help me back then. Especially like 15 years back or so, girls thought computers and tech were lame as hell -- they wanted nothing to do with it. Most guys didn't, either. My mistake, I'll speak in simpler, less abstract terms: Many people want fun and cozy jobs --> these jobs require long studies --> some people are culled but many remain --> competitive market.
