They're all soft sciences, and they all have big problems. Even some of the hard sciences have big problems (notably biology). The topics they address are important and do need to be studied. They're very difficult topics to study and understand, and that has to be kept in mind. The key difference is that some of the soft sciences exist to turn opinion into "fact", while others are a genuine search for understanding. The latter deserves more respect than the former.

To answer the obvious question of whether this in-group/out-group psychology applies to MRAs, I'd say not to the same degree. Not only is there a spectrum of beliefs, but the MRM encourages open discussion. Although most MRAs roll their eyes at MGTOW people, they don't get banned. If you assume that 5% were innocent, that's about 1 in 2,800 people wrongly in jail. Considering how awful wrongful convictions are, that's not very rare.

Compared to most jobs. Imagine you're a nurse at a care facility for disabled people. They're either stiff as a board or completely limp.
