Probably gonna get buried in the election doomposting, so I guess I'll go ahead and say it now. I'm leaving, for good this time. It's been 6ish years of participating on this sub on and off. I've been meaning to leave for a while, but kept getting drawn back in. I will genuinely miss some of you. Others...can work on being the type of user worth missing, if they so choose. I talk about my love quite often here. We are now in the process of preparing for some major milestones in our relationship.…

I prefer a convent
/r/PurplePillDebate06/11/24 03:50 AM

I'm certainly not complaining
/r/PurplePillDebate06/11/24 03:39 AM

I prefer virgin men. Our morals and values are way more likely to line up than a dude who has had sex with a ton of women of any kind.

Active aggression vs passive aggression
/r/PurplePillDebate05/11/24 01:28 AM

Preference =/= kink. Kink is explicitly about sexual gratification. I think that it is very romantic that my partner and I are both virgins and that we will get to share the experience of losing our virginities together. Specifically taking his virginity is not what arouses me. I have dealt with guys who did have that particular kink, not just preference, and quite frankly they were repulsive. One told me in explicit detail that he was looking forward to making me bleed and feel pain. Yeah I fee…
/r/PurplePillDebate05/11/24 12:12 AM

I think that "spiral of silenece" theory is more appropriate. "Virtue signaling" suggests that the person is not actually taking action. A person who happens to live in a specific way that garners social approval, and talks about it on the internet, is not virtue signaling. So where are all the people who don't live like that? They're probably just not saying anything, because they know they'll be shit on for it. That's spiral of silence. That leaves the people who, while perhaps being truthful,…

It's basically a massive crossover event where chronically online weirdos are colliding with the normal people who are now getting recommended that sub for reasons that aren't clear

I disagree that introducing a hypothetical man who has gone to space already adds anything meaningful to this discussion. I would assume that would be a red flag for her as well, but hey she might say that changes everything. I don't know her. I am talking about possibilities. As I've expressed, I think the economic context is important. I disagree that I am forcing anything, or that the principle of Occam's razor readily applies to discussing any given individual's red flags and dealbreakers, a…
/r/PurplePillDebate03/11/24 08:23 PM

Pray tell how being submissive and agreeable is "boss babe" behavior? The word "boss" is present in that term for a reason.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/11/24 08:05 PM

An example from my own life is deciding where to spend the holidays. My BF and I are both close with our families, and we both spent 100% of every major holiday with our families prior to meeting each other. Now we spend the afternoon with my family, and the evening with his. We have made sacrifices in terms of getting to spend the whole day with each of our respective families, but we each still get equal time.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/11/24 08:04 PM

They always take an unripe or undeveloped attitude like ‘boss babe’ or ‘girlboss’. Do you know what these terms mean? Because the attitudes/behaviors you go on to describe aren't really compatible with it

I think it's impossible to divorce the context of her economic status from this. A random middle class woman saying this is an "ick" for her is not the same as a millionaire celebrity who hangs out with other millionaires saying this. If she has noticed that the kind of man signing up for Virgin Galactic's next flight isn't the kind of man she tends to vibe with, more power to her.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/11/24 07:34 PM

Have you ever read O. Henry's Gift of the Magi? That is probably one of the most iconic examples of wholesome, mutual sacrifice in a romantic relationship.

I think it's possible she's trying to vet for guys who are more down to earth (no pun intended) and don't plan to live in excess. Remember that this isn't just some hypothetical pipe dream for men in her economic bracket, civilian space flights are in fact a thing. You would have to drop more than 5X the average annual income for American families for a single trip though. It's like a male celebrity using "would you own a Birkin bag" to vet women. Some women might not like it obviously but if he…

I have a "never say never, never say always" approach to this topic. I find that definitively claiming you could never be attracted to an entire race or that you prefer a particular race comes from assumptions of what people in that group look like which are often limiting/incorrect. There can be a lot more phenotypic diversity in racial groups than people who say things like this are probably understanding.

Eh as someone who grew up in wealthy conservative-leaning Bible Belt suburbs, there are definitely attractive people who care. Granted they generally aren't on dating apps, they meet through their likeminded circles of similar economic status.

Fear of imminent death and feelings of arousal are not compatible for me
/r/PurplePillDebate01/11/24 10:12 PM

Definitely. I have pointed this out to certain male users here with more extreme stances on female modesty. But then you have a scenario like a bikini car wash, where the explicit attention is for the participants to sexualize themselves as much as is legally possible for the sake of raising more money than they have in previous years. I would absolutely not blame a dude for drawing the line there.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/11/24 10:10 PM

Oh you're not alone, there's no way in ever living fuck I would expect my spouse to be okay with this, but I acknowledge that my personal values can be a bit out of step with some of these threads

Type in "date night [insert your town/area]" on Instagram, look for stuff that's quirky and aesthetically pleasing. There are literally accounts solely dedicated to that sort of thing.

The chill spouses of Reddit strike again Excerpt from one comment: From my point of view, the only "drawback" is that men will have a chance to ogle your wife. I don't see why that is an issue so long as your wife is comfortable with it. I'm married and don't give a shit if someone looks at or hits on my spouse. At the end of the day, I trust them and know they're coming home to me.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/11/24 08:55 PM

There's a shot of a Charizard in the first anime opening that specifically comes from an episode about giant Pokémon. They aren't always consistent about his size in the anime but if you were thinking Godzilla size it was probably because of the opening.

In Catholicism, we believe in a middle ground between heaven and hell called purgatory. It is where an individual who isn't quite ready for heaven is prepared for it. It is believed that the vast majority of people who will go to heaven, believers or not, will have to spend time in purgatory first for various reasons. No one will be in purgatory forever. You cannot flunk out of purgatory and get downgraded to hell or something. Hell is for the truly irredeemable. In my view, it would take a lot …

Thank you so much ☺️ My answer to that question is pretty entrenched in my dating experiences as a virgin well into her 20s. Some men, particularly ones who have built up particular fantasies in their heads, have very pornified understandings of what dating a virgin woman is like. I have talked on here about how I thought I hated French kissing, and that I would have to simply tolerate it for my partner. The guy who caused me to have that idea, knew I hadn't been kissed that way before, and deci…

It's actually kind of funny. The prevailing understanding in TRP for quite some time was that it's cucked/BP for a man to be Christian in the west. And I'm a devout Christian, who likes Christian men. So, BP. It isn't deeper than that.

There is no indication any woman tried to involve OP while the incident was unfolding. The "bus stop lady" talked shit about him after the fact. I always use the good ol' photo for photo strat when solo traveling. I look for the nearest group that's awkwardly trying to figure out who's going to get left out to take this picture, and then volunteer to take it so everyone can be in it. A lot of times you won't even have to explicitly ask, they'll ask you if you want a photo there too.

This thread on how men respond to the idea of being called "beautiful" is so fascinating to me. The top comments currently: A woman called me cute once. Coming up on 12 years since that moment Deeply, deeply suspicious. Pretty confidant she was loaded drunk I tell my SO that he's beautiful quite often. The only evidence you've given is your personal experience. And I'm sure other men could chime in and say "this didn't work." But then, for any piece of advice regarding literally anything under the sun, the same thing is true. So should no one ever give advice? No, that isn't reasonable.

If you stopped giving a piece of advice on the basis of "it didn't work for someone, somewhere and that person is now sad" there would be no advice to give anyone at all
/r/PurplePillDebate26/10/24 03:52 AM

The great thing about taking someone's advice is that it's not a permanent life commitment. If it doesn't work you can always try something else. I have gotten a lot of advice from many people in different areas that did not work for me personally. What did I do? Agonize over being "lied to"? No. I just adjusted my methods accordingly and accepted that there isn't a "one size fits all" key to success.

Depending on the professor, yes it's possible. Random one-off research papers do not need to be that rigorous in terms of methodology because of the constraints mentioned. The more serious research experience comes from writing a thesis, dissertation, submitting actual papers to conferences, and working with professors on their publications.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/10/24 12:02 AM

I'm guessing that these are for projects that will not see the light of day outside of the professor or TA grading. Published academic research, dissertations, etc. have the higher standard for sampling. For smaller stuff with time crunches non-probability sampling is more likely to be permissible. Your professor will generally make sure you're aware of this distinction.

There are two styles of argumentation I have noticed on PPD and even Reddit at large when it comes to discussing dating preferences: the voice of the collective, and the anecdoter. Ultimately, the two are not very different. You can infer that both of these people are speaking based on their personal observations and experiences, the sole difference is the presentation they have chosen. Honestly just the fact that she's married disqualifies her from the conventional understanding of what a "cat lady" is. Multiple times throughout my life in different areas. I've had it happen with coed academic competitions in high school, card games, video games, grades on assignments, simply being slightly more knowledgeable on a particular topic in casual conversation.

I find that one of the biggest issues I have with discussing loneliness as a societal issue is that it's not necessarily something that an outside force can rescue anyone from. If isolation is the problem...nobody can break down your door and force you to come outside. That's a choice the individual has to make.

Forgive me if I misunderstood, but you seemed to be curious if women share experiences similar to men in terms of being rejected for opening up emotionally. I find that men don't mind it, because that sort of thing is a part of the gender role expected of a woman. Step out of your "place" so to speak, and then you may get a reaction more akin to a man crying in front of a woman.

We are not interpreting OP in the same way. This is the clarification he offers: Not in a literal sense of "Do you know why?" I mean in the sense of, can you see where men are coming from when they say they don't want to be the safe option? Can you somewhat empathise with it and say "You know I get that view completely" He explicitly says that simply knowing why isn't sufficient, he seems to be asking if we connect with men's feelings on this topic on a deeper, emotional level. Which I don't, or…

I don't care what you're talking about. I trust the OP's judgment in how he flaired this post, which suggests wanting women's opinions as opposed to wanting to have his view challenged. If this post were "Debate: Being the safe option sucks", I wouldn't have commented. Because anyone has a right to feel that way, and therefore what is there to debate. If he wants to make that post, or you want to make that post, go for it.

Some of the men on this sub definitely give me doubts about whether they want women to express feeling any kind of safety or security with them at all, because to them it means "no attraction." Not everyone can run or jump as fast as each other so why is it any different for love. In the same way that nobody is obligated to send someone who doesn't do those things sufficiently to the Olympics, you are not obligated to be in a relationship with someone who is a shitty partner.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/10/24 11:34 PM
1

When she is not showing enough love, we assume that's all she has to show. Are we supposed to judge her on that? That seems mean. She just love us, she says as much ... Why would anyone lie about that. No, having standards and not tolerating the bare minimum isn't "mean." Please make it a mantra and repeat it in the mirror every single day if you have to.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/10/24 11:26 PM

And others simply associate safe with "protection, security, loyalty" as in "safe haven." Is anyone right or wrong? No. I am not the final arbiter of what this incredibly vague term means. Op asked for our personal opinions, and that is mine.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/10/24 11:24 PM
0

"How does she view you" is an incredibly vague and abstract concept. How you are treated is concrete. Let's say you're not the hottest or most talented or whatever man she has ever been with. If she's treating you like she genuinely values and cares for you, obsessing over being these superlatives in her life makes no sense.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/10/24 11:14 PM
2

You don't have to. Let's say she shows up an hour late to every date and refuses to put in any effort whatsoever for your birthday. Those are behaviors that can be assessed in a vacuum. If respecting your time and being thoughtful are things you value in a romantic relationship, the who what where why and how behind her not meeting your needs is irrelevant.

Did you see the last part of my comment? No effort is no effort. I'm not magically okay with subpar treatment as long as every other woman he's dated got the same subpar treatment, or as long as he's dated no one else at all. What makes you feel appreciated? Is your partner doing that? I'm genuinely not sure some of you know how to feel that way unless you're comparing yourself to some other dude. I still can't forget the time I saw a Reddit post where a dude was trying to figure out how to convince his wife who isn't into two guys/one woman threesomes to try it. This is just straight-up not being treated well by your partner, the inherent issue here isn't being seen as safe. Feminist discussions often focus on how male-dominated media objectifies women or how men fail to respect boundaries, but they don't sufficiently address how narratives created by and for women can also perpetuate problematic dynamics. I think a disconnect here to be cautious about is how one defines "friends." In terms of men I am closest to, communicate with often, and hang out with regularly one-on-one, that is mostly my BF and my brother. I'm friendly with just about everyone, and I've been in friend groups with men. Would I be having prolonged direct text chains with them or meet up just the two of us? It's understood between my BF and I that I'm more suited for the provider role and my BF is more suited to be a SAH parent. I think "fine, then why don't you take my place?" is a pointless gotcha. You can choose not to date anyone for any reason. What is the alternative even? You date someone you're not attracted to and not happy with because it would have been "wrong" to reject them? Who would even want to date someone choosing them out of obligation?

Has anyone ever actually changed someone’s mind from debating on here? Is the question supposed to be about whether we changed someone else's mind or if someone else changed ours? I'm reading it as the former but people seem to be answering the latter. In terms of changing minds I think talking about my BF has had that affect on some people. He didn't have his first GF until 25 (me) so his experience seems to be relatable to certain users. For having my mind changed, nothing stands out really. M…

According to this sub I sound like I'm from the west coast. In reality, I was born and raised in the Bible Belt.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/10/24 06:59 PM

I think the heart of the discourse is essentially "what human beings owe to one another." That often gets wrapped up in "need" language for better or worse. I would feel obligated to give a stranger dying of thirst water. I would not feel obligated to fuck a stranger who hasn't had sex in a while.

Some of these scenarios are just textbook sociosexual orientation stuff and isn't simply about "hot guy vs. average guy." Do you really think hot guys never encounter women who don't want to fuck a stranger within hours of meeting? The difference is having options; for every girl who doesn't do XYZ on a first date he can find others who will.

Anecdata can be useful and very necessary because many people on this sub do not understand data, particularly when it comes to translating the numbers to real life. For example, some seem to think that anything short of a majority is an irrelevant, tiny group of barely existent unicorn people. A 30% minority is still a shit ton of people when you're speaking on the level of a large population. A group doesn't even have to come close to 30% for you to encounter it on a regular basis.

The neat thing about adulthood is that you get a lot of control over the types of people you surround yourself with and the environments you put yourself in. The women hanging out with promiscuous women are probably other promiscuous women living similar lifestyles. I don't really think about these types of women unless people, usually men on the internet, bring them up.

That is a really strange claim to make especially when you are talking about an era where comedy movies had way more pop culture influence than they do today. Unless we are going to sit here and argue that Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Vince Vaughn, and co. are top 1% men, which wouldn't surprise me on this sub at this point.

Yeah two big problems here: It wasn't asking for advice, it was asking women what they would do in the hypothetical scenario, so you're just blatantly lying about that. This sub doesn't even allow advice posts. That post was literally the opposite situation of what I commented. The respondents would be relationship material in the dude's eyes while the 19yo was not. /r/PurplePillDebate05/10/24 02:38 PM

And then later on, you found out he did the exact same thing, the exact same way for women before you; but simply way earlier in those previous relationships We can try every single analogy under the sun and it won't change the underlying reality that this isn't as viscerally upsetting to everyone as it is to some people who obsess about it constantly on Reddit

A guy can disagree or dislike a woman arriving at a healthy weight via eating disorder or crash dieting but that won't make him appreciate the end product any less. Both of those methods have serious issues which can include rapidly relapsing or even death. "Appreciating the end product" under such circumstances says a lot about the dude.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/10/24 01:39 PM

There are two parts to virtually any process: means and ends. Some believe that the ends are what should matter ultimately, not the means or how they were achieved. Others believe that both the ends and means matter. So the process for obtaining an objective is also subject to scrutiny. Compare someone who made gradual changes to their diet and exercise and lost the recommended 1-2 pounds per week or whatever their doctor signed off on vs. someone who acquired an eating disorder. They can arrive…

I don't think it's simply a gender bias. Those subs seem to lean contrarian on pretty much any kind of traditional expectations in romantic, friendly, or familial relationships. That will favor women in some situations, like housework and childrearing, but go against them in others, like being a mom who doesn't want her adult child living at home strolling in after 3 A.M. I wouldn't say they represent mainstream opinion or the future of mainstream opinion.

"But think about how good you have it now relative to some other group" is a common tactic to deflect about a person's dissatisfaction with their current situation. It would be like telling an autistic man who struggles with dating "well at least you're not in an asylum or locked in your family's basement. See how far we've progressed as a society?"
/r/PurplePillDebate02/10/24 03:03 PM

Call me out of touch but I feel like this entire concept is so cynical and weird. I always thought saying "I love you" or something along those lines for the first time is throwing the gauntlet. Something you might find interesting is the concept of high vs low context culture. Basically, even at the societal level, research has indicated that some cultures lean more toward bluntness, directness, and verbal cues while others rely more heavily on nonverbal communication and "reading the room" essentially. From an article about conducting business in a high context culture For low-context communicators, high-context cultures can seem frustratingly mysterious—even sneaky. But these people …

He's a bit of an odd ball in that circle, favoring nerdy and quirky hobbies over fishing/hunting trips, golfing, etc. He has a very introverted and gentle personality. Quite liberal and disagrees with his family on many political issues, though he has maintained some of the religious/cultural values, like going to church and waiting until marriage. Ha…

I love how the culture war nerds can't choose between using that game to shit on Ubisoft or dismissing it as more DEI. "See? This is what quality representation looks like. We don't hate female leads we just hate bad games. Right guys?" "Fuck off shill" "Wait what?"

Not touching the semantic tangents or we're going to be here all weekend. You put forth a question which included an example that has nothing to do with intimate relationships. It's a person doing the job they are paid to do and a random civilian. Because you are not the first person to conveniently avoid examples that actually represent meaningful human relationships I am pointing out that pattern.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/09/24 04:23 AM

It's interesting how these bad analogies always seem to involve strangers and not people in an interpersonal relationship. In a loving interpersonal relationship hopefully built on a solid foundation of mutual trust, tests that insinuate infidelity are in fact accusations. It could be demanding they take an STD test before you sleep with them again. It could be suddenly demanding access to your partner's phone.

Yeah well in my view trying to argue that it is somehow not an accusation, when the only biologically possible way for a woman to wind up pregnant with another man is cheating on you, is manipulative. Thankfully since I am not in a romantic relationship with anyone on this subreddit, what they/I see as manipulative is irrelevant to each other's lives.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/09/24 11:43 PM
1

Yep. I was shocked this topic made it over there. It's funny because I feel like a lot of the users there are not super active on Reddit or familiar with gender wars discourse. So they sound really confused. Like, "is this really a question that needs to be discussed? Of course it's going to damage your relationship." That said out of morbid curiosity I need at least one Catholic man to bring up that he wants all of his kids to be paternity tested during Pre-Cana and report back on the results.

So that isn't something the devout among us do lightly Finding out that your child's blood type is not what it's supposed to be is a grave situation that would absolutely warrant and arguably even obligate DNA testing

Until the legal perils for not checking paternity are removed, it’s not an accusation of cheating per se. The former has zero bearing on the latter being an accusation. The only case you've provided an argument for is it being a justified accusation. And as is the case of justifying anything others may or may not agree with you.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/09/24 01:54 PM

That actually came up in the thread as well. Since my BF and I are both virgins and will only be having sex with each other for life, yes the same would especially apply in our case.

This really just shows how different men and women are. How? Do women actually read? The pretty much universal consensus, among both men and women, was that asking for a paternity test is an accusation of adultery.

So I recently read a lively thread from a Catholic subreddit on this. I'm Catholic myself and lurk there occasionally. The pretty much universal consensus, among both men and women, was that asking for a paternity test is an accusation of adultery. And given the significance of marriage as a sacrament within our faith, adultery is a very serious accusation to make against your spouse. You accuse them not only of betraying you. You accuse them of violating some of the most sacred vows we make bef…

Unlucky shake in terms of environment/social circle/demographics. Same can be true for men who inexplicably struggle despite having all the right qualities on paper.

What kind of environment are you referring to OP? Coffee shops? Night clubs? I ask because in the places where I spend my time people are overwhelmingly generically polite and strive to call as little attention to themselves as possible. Even if a woman doesn't want to be approached she'd probably just say "no thank you" or laugh nervously/give short replies until he stops talking.

There seems to be a recurring pattern with nerdy/awkward billionaires defying the stereotypical wisdom that men at that level of success "should" be dating the hottest women possible. My theory is that wealthy men who are in the more image-focused industries (like Hollywood or music) are more likely to prioritize looks over everything else in a partner. And our culture is especially obsessed with these industries so they kind of set this standard of how people think wealthy/successful individual…

It kinda reminds me of the frustration that will inevitably happen with the above average friend who constantly calls themselves ugly to fish for compliments. Like he's fishing for a certain response from them, not acting on the response, fishing again, rinse and repeat. I'm not saying that is actually OP's intention from triggering this scenario again and again when the obvious answer is "stop pointing out cute girls to them." But it could be how they're seeing it.

This is probably a result of the background I grew up in, but I definitely believe that both men and women need their own spaces. For women who do that, she may essentially be applying female social dynamics to men. Rarely have I had to ask or tell another woman why she's/I'm upset. Women who struggle with that to the extent that men can will often be ostracized socially by other women. My own BF is very close with the women in his family and has always had a lot of female friends, so he just gets it. Hell he's brought up something that happened and apologized for it before I even realized it was bothering me.

Yes, I wouldn't bother otherwise. I was never raised with weird fantasies that Reddit was apparently told by their parents like "looks don't matter." I was taught that they are very important because sex is important for marriage and having sex with someone you aren't attracted to would be miserable. You have to be careful with the "what percentage of men do you find attractive" question. I'm attracted to roughly 50% of 20-something-looking men I run into on a regular basis. If you just ask me m…

To me it's whatever when the dude is expressing his own preference. But I've literally also had men on here argue with me, a virgin, that my preference for male virgins is wrong and my actual "match" is an experienced man.

I'm one of the most scrupulous people on this sub in terms of opposite sex friendships and policing to that extent sounds ridiculous even to me

But when it's a man liking a woman's Instagram post at the beach, or even a workout pic. Then, it becomes a huge issue. Okay are we talking about complete strangers or friends? I understand not wanting your SO to thirst after influencers or whatever but encouraging an opposite sex friend since childhood's 100 pound weight loss journey with a like and nice comment is completely different.

If you want that sort of thing and have to beg your SO to do it you're with the wrong dude imo. I think the situation is pathetic but not because of "submission." I don't get people who try to mold other people instead of just vetting for what they wanted from the start.

My LTR started from small talk at a bookstore. He didn't even intend to pursue anything romantic. He wanted to take a risk and talk to a cute girl he hadn't met before. Men who were already in favor of approaching like to hyperfixate on these women to use as a gotcha against women who express discomfort with it. The simple reality is that some women want to be approached, others don't. Nothing is going to make everyone happy. Similar to how men on the internet insist men love it when women split the check while my own experience indicates a lot of men vehemently prefer to be the one paying.

those women are now no longer party girls and basically like minded to the guy A "no longer" person vs. a "not ever" person are not necessarily likeminded. As a person who does not drink and has never done it my lifestyle may be superficially similar to a former alcoholic who is now sober. I'm BP and I don't necessarily agree with that. I think it's more a matter of waiting for a likeminded woman who also didn't indulge in that lifestyle. "Guys your age are immature, focus on other things and wait until you're a bit older" is definitely something I remember hearing a lot in high school. "Find your bridesmaids, not your groom."

I feel like both of them are overthinking this way too much. It's a homecoming invite, not a marriage proposal. I'm elder Gen Z and when I was in high school nobody was taking it that seriously. Homecoming invite/acceptance basically meant "I can tolerate being around you for one night."

I think it's a realistic aspiration but also not a guarantee by any means. Let's say your 100% loyal wonderful spouse gets by a bus tomorrow. It's certainly possible. Hell you might be the one under the wheels. Either way, the aspiration to grow old and die together is gone. So what do we do with the knowledge that everything can fall apart in an instant, even by no fault of anyone in the relationship? Keep living. Keep pursuing happiness, regardless of how fragile and uncertain it may be. Or do…

Ime it really depends on the circle. For example, it's basically a prerequisite that a woman has to be college-educated to be a serious romantic option in mine. Hell I know a girl who got burned because his family thought her degree was worthless/too easy, much less considering a woman who didn't go at all. This probably would not be a huge deal for men in other social contexts.

Maybe the "very sensitive" person is right to be sensitive? Most people feel like they are right to be whatever they are. Nobody has to agree with them. Regarding the example you gave, I would argue that weight loss will likely pay dividends vis a vis other people being attracted to that woman, if not necessarily the original object of her desire. Do not take it personally usually means "do not take it as an insult or attack." A person rejecting you romantically is neither of those things. A rejection in most cases is in effect telling the person that they're not good enough to date. That is how a very sensitive person interprets rejection. Moreover, there may be some instances in which it's useful to take rejection personally, as it may be a catalyst for change (where such change is possible). Being the catalyst for a positive outcome do…

Does it have more to do with lifestyle incompatibility or a potential insecurity, i.e. thinking that other women will constantly be hitting on a guy and he might cheat or she might have less control over him? I genuinely don't think a woman is looking at a dad bod of the type above and thinking he's way less likely to cheat or easier to control than the six pack guy. I'm just a postgrad student who already has to read a lot of research anyway so what's a little more. I think six pack gets the advantage for hookups from OLD. Dad bod has the advantage of looking like he may have more freedom to party and drink, and that lifestyle comes with more irl opportunities for casual sex than a person who chooses to lead a more restrictive lifestyle. I mean people take out their impotent rage on completely uninvolved people all the time. The barista who treats customers like garbage likely has something going on in their life which is manifesting in how they treat these random people who just want a latte. From there it's not a massive leap for people to take out their impotent rage on others who are, in their view, the source of their problems by some likely dubious reasoning.

/r/PurplePillDebate07/09/24 08:11 AM

While 18.4% of women reported that intercourse alone was sufficient for orgasm, 36.6% reported clitoral stimulation was necessary for orgasm during intercourse, and an additional 36% indicated that, while clitoral stimulation was not needed, their orgasms feel better if their clitoris is stimulated during intercourse So your own source is saying that good foreplay results in good PIV. Is that not the mainstream consensus?
/r/PurplePillDebate07/09/24 07:33 AM

I think the biggest predictor of ending up in those types of dynamics is the behavior you witnessed in your parents. If a woman grows up watching her mom tolerate that shit, then there's a good chance that will be her idea of "normal." I grew up with a father who never raised his voice at my mother, never slammed doors, or anything along those lines. The second a dude shows signs of not being able to handle his temper, I'm out. I don't care how much people are like "well if it was a one time thi…

I have never been in the position to communicate with a sex worker and I don't know why I would be
/r/PurplePillDebate07/09/24 06:20 AM

The difference is very relevant considering the fact that you decided to compare soliciting sex work to soliciting any other work. So I used an example of another form of work to demonstrate how absurd it is to treat soliciting sex work the same way as soliciting any other work.

While I would take reality TV intended first and foremost for drama and entertainment with a massive grain of salt, I do agree that the advice to simply "choose better" is very simplistic and naive. I think a major factor here is one-off vs. pattern. Virtually everyone I know, male or female, who has dated at least two people has that one ex who screwed them over. They learned the warning signs to look for and went on to have a healthy relationship with an amazing person. Then there are people w…

So my experience in Japan kinda indicates that the neat and tidy benefits you imagine do not necessarily happen in a society where sex work is essentially legal. Overall I love living there, and the men are pretty great. But I did have a rather questionable encounter that made me start to think about these things more. I know that one culture with legal sex work does not represent all that currently have it or ever will. But I do think it's an interesting case study. I have never had a random du…

Not sure which European country you're from but this is from a Scientific American article citing Buss, the researcher you mention in OP Second, the degree to which males find the prospect of a female partner's sexual infidelity upsetting varies significantly among cultures. There is no way to make me bounce from a piece of media faster than portraying infidelity as a beautiful, flawed, bittersweet part of life we're supposed to sympathize with or something. /r/PurplePillDebate05/09/24 04:06 PM

People who think about relationships in a materialistic light would possibly view me as planning to "marry down." I admittedly have a very priveleged life and that's why I can afford not to care about my partner's earning potential. It's as simple as that. I don't need to add a man to take care of me in the material sense. For me it was always about other factors like emotional intimacy and shared experience. I would only be marrying down if I compromised on what actually matters to me.

I find that a lot of this confusion can be chalked up to the problem of distinguishing between "trad virgin/low n" and the broader umbrella of "virgin/low n." The same way people gamble with unplanned pregnancy or any other number of life-changing things that can go wrong with premarital sex
/r/PurplePillDebate02/09/24 06:18 PM

That's really going to depend on your environment. I know young women who had an easy time finding all of that and women who had a harder time. The biggest factors will be the size and gender ratio of the local young adult community for your faith. Devout Christian men are a dime a dozen where I live currently so meeting my BF, who is also a Christian virgin waiting until marriage, was pretty easy. I have also lived in places where it was much harder to find men like that.

Humans believed that acquired traits could be inherited by offspring as recently as the 1800s. Hell a lot of people still probably think that unless they've been formally and correctly educated on evolutionary theory. The argument you're making here kinda presumes some sophisticated innate knowledge we're all born with of how genes work. To the extent that humans innately look for indicators of fitness it's not gonna be on that level of sophistication.

When is the last time you've had an abortion? Been raped? Been murdered? Why talking about it then? I don't randomly make posts on Reddit to argue with strangers about these things so I literally cannot answer that question. Everytime you put a seat belt on, you actually do. I put on the seat belt to not be ticketed, not because I think I'm going to get into a terrible accident and die any time I drive around without one.

One practical underrated aspect of flowers is that they die, so they don't take up space for long. My BF and I love buying each other gifts but space is finite and at this rate I'm worried we're gonna end up on an episode of Hoarders one day. We should probably start giving some of it away, but the sentimental value makes it hard.

I'm curious to know how difficult you thought kissing would be compared to how difficult it turned out to be. I personally think people way overestimate how long it takes to catch on to it.

What dinner? A pizza? Steak with candlelight? I'm really scrupulous with this sort of thing and wouldn't be alone at a dude's house who isn't a relative or my BF. But I wouldn't blame a typical person for not seeing Pizza Hut on the couch as a romantic cue.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/24 04:49 PM

I'd be the one telling him to finish the race. Sprained ankles heal. Knowing that he lost out on this major milestone he's been working so hard for because of me would be a lot worse.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/24 04:40 PM

Men who claim that tall women have an easy time with dating are almost certainly thinking of hyper feminine waifish super models, not tall women with the kinds of build that you get you scouted for sports like rugby instead

They aren't gone entirely imo. I have a theory that all of the third spaces are just concentrated in a handful of areas in close proximity to wealthy people with lots of leisure time now. I say this because I have not noticed this decline in third spaces frequently discussed on Reddit, but I also live in a high income area that has seen crazy growth and development in the last few years.

I read a study which found both women and men demonstrating preferred for partners with DT traits. However, the effect decreased when you controlled for extroversion in DT men and physical attractiveness in DT women. Basically, the DT men were liked because of their extroversion and the DT women were liked because they were hot.

I think a far better reason is that an untrained civilian trying to play hero might escalate the situation and get everyone killed. Like if I'm a hostage I'd much rather have a trained professional on the case than "some dude." To me people way overestimate how helpful a random civilian's intervention will be in a lot of situations. Which is why I'm on team 911 all the way.

I apparently have a very dry way of writing on the internet that makes it pretty easy for people to mistake me for a dude unless I'm explicitly indicating that I'm not somehow. This girl in an online mobile game became obsessed with me and started calling me her boyfriend. By the time I realized she wasn't joking I felt bad and didn't have the heart to tell her or the others in our group A. I'm not a guy and B. I didn't like her.

At my university you see lot of the gym stacy undergrads with some anime keychain on their backpack. The most recent one I saw was Gaara. As mid as Naruto is it did have some really memorable characters.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/08/24 08:18 PM

A dude on this sub just recently claimed that all of the Chads at his college are dating "mid" girls. I think some people are just harsher critics of the sex they're attracted to and very lenient when rating people they'll never be attracted to anyway.

I find this to be a highly regional thing. I kind of took it for granted growing up and outright disliked it, because I'd rather just fall or whatever, get up, and keep walking like nothing happened. But no, where I'm from 10 people of either sex will descend upon you asking if you hurt yourself and while well-intentioned it can be quite embarrassing. So yeah no nobody's getting full on mugged without people doing anything.

Keeping all of this in mind a man who is that concerned about paternity fraud in marriage has the option to not get married or have children in the first place. As I said in the beginning.

That's great and all but you presented "not protecting all victims" as a fundamental flaw in the solution of not getting married or having children. That is an impossible standard to reach and therefore not a valid criticism.

it seems the effect of a bad mother are less discussed. Can you think of an example of a bad mom in fiction ? The mom from Hatchet, a common required summer reading book. Fuck that lady. I dated a guy who grew up with a similar childhood experience of a cheating mom and he was a trainwreck. I don't think he's free from all accountability for the way he treated me, but I think it's undeniable that that experience affected how he sees women in general.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/08/24 01:18 AM

Nostalgia goggles/culture war poisoning. It was absolutely worse back then. The most egregious part of the cartoons in particular was that the token kids look exactly the same and act the same across media. Nothing you are claiming here fits any observation or statistics I have encountered Can you at least cite where you're getting numbers like this And there's not many couples at all really with 90 percent of the guys getting basically no action. And this New data shows the amount of couples that met in college is under 0.5 percent and 60+ percent met on apps where we know that hypergamy and black pill reigns.

Is this the same girl you've been worried about? If you keep ruminating and dragging this out it'll only make everything worse. Just tell her it's not working out and wish her well or something. She might be sad. That's life. She'll get over it. And if she doesn't there are deeper issues at work here than you.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/24 07:13 PM

That is a completely different and irrelevant industry. I did not see a single ad for Tinder or Bumble until news of their decline and struggles to attract users started surfacing. And those ads pretty much exclusively target women because that is the demographic they need to focus on increasing, not men.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/24 07:05 PM

That is some pretty important context for understanding your mindset here
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/24 06:42 PM

OP in particular sounds very unenthusiastic about it, even for reasons stated in the post unrelated to paternity testing, to the point where I have to wonder if some of you are being forced into marriage at gun point
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/24 06:38 PM

Long story short, I think the goal of these sites, including Seeking, is to make money. If it weren't for the targeted hack the world might never know what was going on behind the scenes of Ashley Madison. Everything about Seeking seems suspicious as fuck to me, but then I'm skeptical of any platform that openly promotes transactional relationships. I've unfortunately been getting ads from them lately on Reddit essentially promising that I will meet rich dudes to fund my beach vacations if I joi…
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/24 06:36 PM

Have any of you simply considered not getting married or having children? I think some of you forget that neither of these things are mandatory.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/24 06:20 PM

Yes they all have scammers and bots to some extent but some are way worse than others. I think it was actually Ashley Madison that got caught for that when they were hacked. Bots and employees straight-up pretending to be users were rampant to make the men think there were a lot more women on the site than there actually were.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/24 06:00 PM

Is that the one that got outed as having a shit ton of scammers and bots?

As usual with this topic, I am going to cite my parents who have been married for 25 years and consider each other best friends. If anything that made them better parents, because they liked to be around each order. They weren't constantly going out to hang out with other people all the time. They were happy to spend time together and with their children. That was their idea of a fun weekend.

Fun fact: in the before times, prior to user profile pics being a thing on Reddit (yeah I've been trapped in this hellscape for that long), people used to mistake me for Asian all of the time. Every week was "you're black?!" Nowhere did I claim to be Asian in any way, shape, or form, it just kind of stuck with people for some reason. I eventually graduated to "child of African immigrants", which was also not correct but at least getting closer.

I grew up Catholic and my BF grew up Protestant. We both were raised in environments where a man's virginity is valued and expected just as much as the woman's. In fact we are both virgins waiting until marriage together. Applying it equally to men does not magically endear feminists to purity culture. I'm not sure where you got that idea from.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/08/24 06:13 AM

You don't have to. Valuing the opinions of internet strangers is a choice. If I ask Reddit "should I wait until marriage" I already know what the overwhelming answer is going to be. I do not care. I do not understand why any of you care this much.

This isn't traditionalism, it's modern male fantasy disguised as traditionalism. In trad contexts the man is often expected to lead the woman by example through his own purity. "Do as I say not as I do" is bad leadership 101.

Very heavy, painful, and irregular periods run in my family. I lived with it for about 10 years by taking about 3200 mg of ibuprofen per day while on my period, but on the heaviest days that would barely do anything. When my blood test results indicated anemia my doctor started to more strongly recommend that I use birth control. My periods are regular now, and while I do still bleed and my cramps are still bad for a day or two it's not nearly as debilitating as when I'm off birth control.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/24 07:13 PM

Believe it or not some of us have to take birth control for medical reasons and still manage not to have sex. The contraception isn't forcing anyone to have sex. A temptation merely existing does not excuse the person who fell for it.

Even as one of the resident trads on this sub I can't agree with this. "Do not covet your neighbor's wife" wouldn't have been an ancient commandment if the institution of marriage in and of itself were enough to stop men from looking at other women. I have never met a woman in real life who is vehemently against men who game in any way, shape, or form. I find that men who ask these questions have a very specific idea of what counts as "real" gaming and then ask why women don't like that. It's inevitable imo. We all know the person irl who will make it about jealousy if you give any non-positive feedback on their life choices. It's a convenient rebuttal when you have nothing else because it can't be falsified. There is no definitive proof you can submit of not being jealous. To me, it is what it is at this point and there's not much point in wanting it to be gone. Trust me, it isn't going anyway. Just say "Okay" or "You're right, you've shown me light, I'm in love with you. Marry…

I think a factor that doesn't get discussed enough is the "is he shy or does he hate me" question. There was a guy I befriended towards the end of his time in high school; he was a year ahead of me. We had interacted regularly through an after school activity, but I initially misread his introvert tendencies as not liking me in particular. He started opening up a lot more as time went on and became much friendlier, which allowed me to feel more comfortable speaking to him. He was still pretty aw…

I can't speak for every woman who has that requirement, but in my case it stems from what I witnessed in my own parents' relationship. They spend all of their free time together. My mom is an outgoing person by nature but there's no one she'd rather spend time with than her family, including my father. My dad has never been a very sociable person or eager to maintain deep friendships so my mother basically wins by default.

In my SO's social circle all of those things matter. I've gone to outings with my BF where everyone already knew way more about my education, background, and accomplishments than I ever would have imagined because he loves to talk about them apparently lol. I think it's sweet but also a little nerve-racking to have attention on me like that.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/08/24 02:15 PM

"Might be referring to?" Again, the burden is on the person making the claims to cite these studies and clarify their parameters. If you're not even taking your assertions seriously enough to do the bare minimum in that regard why should anyone else.

/r/PurplePillDebate20/08/24 10:09 PM

I think there are important parameters that you need to be clear about when asking someone that question. I would say that I'm attracted to a small percentage of men in general but attracted to like 50% of men roughly in their 20s. According to the data I'm seeing that's gonna be roughly 10% of American men.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/08/24 08:50 PM

I think body hair plays an underrated role in this. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a correlation between women who are really attracted to a good carpet of body hair and liking thicker men. Men who are really fit tend to keep their chests shaven. For women who feel that body hair is really sexy and masculine that can absolutely be a turnoff. Even when I see shirtless scenes in movies I'm like "okay but where the hell is the hair, I know y'all grow it."
/r/PurplePillDebate20/08/24 08:20 PM

For me dating a person with that kind of body is what really entrenched by preference for guys with more "normal" bodies. I don't think that statement necessarily implies that the experience has to be from other relationships. My BF didn't date anyone before, but he also didn't have to be taught much since he grew up in a loving, close-knit family. My BF is the same way. Basically no one would guess he didn't have a GF until 25 based on his looks to the point where many of my own loved ones suspected he was lying. If anything that only goes to show that personality matters. He doesn't fit the rugged cowboy bro vibe a lot of women look for out here in the south. I wouldn't take it personally, but it's still a fundamental fact that I'm not compatible with men who feel that way. OP do you know the difference between allegations that have been proven false and allegations that cannot be proven beyond a reasonable doubt? What in the world are you doing wasting your time on this sub for? I've asked myself that for about six years now. For me personally the answer is never. But I'm also religious and for the devout in my faith virginity is not a shameful thing. Marriage is a serious calling and the path to that vocation isn't always so straightforward. And we're expected to stay virgins until we figure it out, so naturally there are going to be men and women who keep their virginity longer than secular society might see as "normal."

I don't think the two explanations have to be mutually exclusive. I was just looking into this today because whenever you call kpop girls skinny some dude will come out and insist that they're actually not that skinny and most South Korean women look like that. So the average weight for South Korean women is roughly 58 kg or 128 pounds. Almost all kpop idols weight significantly less than that, with many coming in at less than 45 kg like Momo from Twice. First of all, whoever did the marketing for that movie needs a raise. The displays I've seen for it actually do not highlight the romance. They instead focus on the flower shop which apparently factors into the story a lot (don't ask me anything else, I know nothing else about this movie or the book it's based on). It's basically "Pinterest: The Marketing Campaign." While sex joke popcorn buckets is what it takes to bring men, aesthetically pleasing hipster flower shop is the kind of thing that …

If by "spontaneous desire" we mean "noticeable physiological response from your vaginal area upon seeing an attractive man", I would say it is very common for women to not experience that. I would even go as far as to say that it may be true for most women. I feel like the closest equivalent I personally have to that is my response to the voice. Something about a really attractive male voice goes straight to the nethers for me in the way that I imagine men are with good-looking women. He could b…

So my approach may be somewhat controversial. I find that the best thing you can do is not assume "it gets better." If a dude isn't opening up about anything and dodging serious conversations before you make the relationship official I think it's best to assume he is going to keep doing that. It's one thing to not be at that stage after a date or two and another to be at the "making things official" stage which presumably entailed multiple dates and conversations without any kind of deeper emoti…

It sounds like a breakdown in the vetting process if you're just suddenly realizing that your partner doesn't like opening up to you and that is a now a problem for some reason. Tbf shirtless pic at the beach or on a boat is different from "low effort shirtless pic in dirty bathroom mirror," which is what 90% of shirtless pics on a dating app will be. That is probably what women are referring to when they call it a red flag. Don't get me wrong I'm sure lots of women will still bite if the dude is hot, but quality and quantity would likely increase if the shirtless pic has a better setting.

/r/PurplePillDebate09/08/24 05:54 PM

Those are two common elements yes but not the full picture. Very rarely does smut start off with both parties on board to fuck within a page or so regardless of how physically attracted they are to each other. That's more like how porn operates.

"Man who would make a good husband." Full package, basically what you're saying. It's basically the end-all be-all of how I assess men in a non-platonic context since I'm not interested in casual anything
/r/PurplePillDebate09/08/24 04:18 AM
1

No because they are two very different things. For one, women in porn are always ready to go just because. There is no build-up or tension to resolve, which is like 90% of what women get out of smut. I think the more relevant gateway for me were compilations of sex scenes from TV shows on YouTube before they really started to crack down on both copyright infractions and sexual content.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/08/24 04:15 AM
1

For me, yes. I literally mean me, I find that I'm more susceptible to craving porn than smut. I can read a sex scene or whatever in a book and be like "that was nice" and carry on with my life. Not so much with porn. The next day I would want to watch it again. And the day after that. And the day after that.

On social media you have a bunch of complete strangers interacting with limited information about each other. On a platform like Facebook, which stresses anonymity less, you'll often get people checking each other's profiles for information. I guess this will just be "war of the anecdotes." During my college experience the primary double standard that drove pretty much anyone's criticism of conduct in a relationship was your pre-existing relationship with either party. If you knew the dude longer, the girl's a crazy bitch. Always. If you knew the girl longer, the guy's an inconsiderate POS. Always. I have never seen this routine where every girl is coddled and adored by everyone while the dude is an irrelevant punching bag with nobo…

What is that rationalization? Not liking what legal adults decide to do for some reason or other? That resemblance is highly superficial. People disapprove of legal adults' choices in romantic partners all the time for any number of reasons. If a dude doesn't like his friend's GF because her laugh is annoying is that somehow analogous to disapproval of gay relationships?
/r/PurplePillDebate05/08/24 11:36 PM
16

To this day the countries with the largest age gaps are the ones which are not the kindest to women or gay people in terms of human rights. So no you can't "equally apply" anything here because completely different attitudes and ideas of how the world "should" be underlie the approval of each.

One of the many flaws in this discourse is presenting a binary where people are either 100% cool about it or "heavily" concerned. And so we're supposed to reject tall men for being tall to give those men reparations?

Nothing short of saying "begone thot" to every dude over 6' who so much as makes eye contact satisfies these people

I was very open to the idea of dating internationally for a time. Especially after studying in Japan. Dudes I had talked to for all of 5 minutes would insist on buying me treats, drinks, helping me with luggage, etc. And most importantly, wouldn't be pushy or entitled after. Ultimately I met the love of my life in the U.S. so it's a moot point.

It's interesting. He's had a lot of good female friends throughout his life, but not romantic interest. He has a stutter and struggles with eye contact. Possibly autistic. On top of that I thought I had a sheltered upbringing, but his was moreso than mine. One of his friends suggested breaking out of that bubble and meeting new girls. And literally not too long after he tried that he met me.

No. On looks alone you would never guess he hasn't had a GF. My family is protective and had suspicions he was lying based on pictures I showed them initially. When they actually met him they were like "nevermind, checks out"

My BF had zero romantic experience at 25 when we met, AMA

There's "be attractive to women" advice and then there's "be attractive to her parents" advice. Many parents are gonna be more helpful with the latter than the former.

Speaking of wandering in here and not understanding how things work, perhaps a little lesson on post flairs is in order. This post is "question for women" not "debate." It means that OP wants women's opinions. So that answers your little "so what" question right there and illustrates how people who don't bother to read need to maybe consider doing that before questioning others' intelligence.

So what indeed. I really don't know why any of you care about my opinion. I state my piece because I have a right to like everyone else here
/r/PurplePillDebate03/08/24 05:56 AM

Yeah I don't care. Sex before marriage is sex before marriage, how "difficult" it was to participate in an activity incompatible with my own lifestyle and views of sexuality is irrelevant to me
/r/PurplePillDebate03/08/24 05:35 AM

They won't understand this. To certain people low n women are trophies, not sentient human beings with our own opinions and lifestyles that should probably be compatible with our partner for a successful marriage

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
