Hello, is this account still active? I know it's been 4 years but, I'd like to know more about this: as every feminist organization I’ve ever been a part of (college clubs, book clubs, forums, smaller groups with friends) has been enthusiastic about this concept. Honestly, I really do want to warm up to feminists because for a long time I've been very anti-feminist, but I am beginning to realize that MRA's and feminists look at issues regarding gender, but from different perspectives. I've also …

Also, something else I want to ask, That would explain why gender-nonconforming women would be treated better than gender-nonconforming men. But the thing I'm pointing out is that gender-conforming women get better treatment than gender-nonconforming (or even outright-effeminate) men. How would your theory explain why men (in general), when attempts are made to emasculate them, derogatory language connected to womanhood and/or femininity such as "pussy" and "bitch" are used to emasculate them? H…

To treat "not being thrown onto battlefields" as oppressive is beyond demented. Not to mention, what is missing here is a distinction between valuing someone and seeing them as agential/capable. You can treat someone as very valuable, but as weak and lacking in capabilities (this is how we view children generally). And of course being infantilized is not a good thing in general, and women absolutely do have completely reasonable grievances about being infantilized. Ah, now I see your perspective…

Well for one, it doesn't explain why gender-nonconforming males suffer more than gender-conforming females (on average). It doesn't explain why femme lesbians get treated better than butch lesbians, or why gay men have historically been discriminated against more than lesbians in general. I don't know too much about patriarchy theory, but wouldnt a feminist describe all of that as: since masculinity is more valued in society, it's more okay for women to be more masculine, while feminity is seen …

Okay, you're probably gonna be a little perplexed that a random guy is commenting to you on a 10 year old thread, but I have to ask, In one of the earlier comments, you mentioned how there were other gender theories other than patriarchy, (I know it's been 10 years lol, but are you able to remember?) What are those gender theories? I refuse to accept patriarchy theory before I see other theories.

Okay, so I know that this is a 12 year old post, and it's probably weird to see me asking you this, but I need to know, This definition of patriarchy theory, where did you get it from? If you remember of course (Once again I know this is a 12 year old thread, but just bear with me) Because there are so many definitions of patriarchy theory that are used by different feminists that it's hard to fully grasp it. It seems that the patriarchy theory is largley up to interpretation, which makes it see…

Thanks man, this is pretty good. you shouldn't excessively pretend to be okay just because it's more "manly" to do so. Honestly, I don't think we should be blaming this on masculinity. I wonder if many men just "act okay" because they feel that nobody cares about them. Or that they have things to do, and breaking down crying is going to get in the way, etc. Or they possibly have poor mental health (I.e. depression) or something. I gaurentee there are some men who think that them acting excessive…

Hmm, I agree with most of these, but, there are a few which I'd like for you to elaborate further on, Not being afraid to ask for help - reaching out when you need it, whether physical or mental. I agree with this, but then again, what if you ask for help, but people simply ignore you, don't listen, or treat you a nuisance, dimiss your problems, or outright ridicule you? What do you do then? Being in touch with your emotions and regulating them - don't keep them locked in a box. Can you elaborat…

I've noticed this as well. The things that many of these misandrists say, if you replace "men" with "black people" or any minority group. It sounds like a racist. Its very strange.

I agree 100%. When it comes to male advocacy, feminists have done very well in some areas, but have also made situations worser in other areas (as in oppressing male advocacy, mainly when it's not feminists that are advocating). This potentially can be due to, as you said, the Oppressor/Oppressed model that's used. Male advocacy continues to be hindered, partly because of this. Regarding male advocacy, I think a whole lot more progress would've been made if it weren't for powerful feminist group…

Honestly, I don't know the roles of people in mens-sheds. I did some research, and I'm assuming that being a volunteer is different from being a "member". I'm also assuming that being a volunteer means that you help around, but being a member requires you to be a male (for the most part, as some sheds accept women too, as members). Edit: I removed a whole couple sentences of me talking about why it's unfair that men have very little male-only spaces, but this is not the post for it. Thanks for u…

Also, do you have any info regarding IPV of male victims and female perpetrators in Canada? I've only found a little bit of info. The main reason why I can't find much is because the majority of info out there is of female victims and male perpetrators.

Oh wow that was quicker than I thought. Thanks, I am a maths and physics student and also an MRA so I usually try to use studies to support my claims in my comments. This is smart. I find that many people in MRA spaces tend to just make a claim/statement and not back it up...like at all. Having data definetly helps solidify ones statement. Nonetheless, thanks for the info.

Your threads are very informative. Saved all of them. But I have two questions: In part 2 of your threads, when that person made the statement "women mostly kill in self defence", what if they were referring to crime in general? Not just IPV/Domestic abuse? Because you only listed information for IPV specifically. What about for criminal cases other than IPV? Hmm, They want to monopolize the conversation on gender equality I agree with this part so that they can quash mens advocacy But not this. Feminists have created their own mens advocacy groups, or have still engaged in mens advocacy. It's just that the advocacy groups which are not affiliated with feminism, or refuse to use the feminist lens on mens advocacy, (like the MRM), they despise it and defame it which causes many of them to shut down. Unless if you've noticed a huge decrease in mens adv…

I also want to add because the post you referenced doesn't fully go into it. Yeah it unfortunately didn't, but that's why I came here to ask further questions as it just was so strange to me how the laws around rape were so female-centric. It mentions how rape by a woman still isn't considered rape in Idaho, but doesn't cover how in the US - rape against a man, even by another man, wasn't considered rape until 2013. We've had 2 presidential elections since then. That's insane. Not even a man cou…

Combination of old-world misandry and homophobia. If a man can't defend himself, he's not a real man. If a man takes it up the ass without fighting them off, he's obviously gay. If a man is raped by a PCM iman, obviously he wanted it and let it happen. Sure sounds like it. What excuses would've been given back then to excuse female-on-male rape? One of the good wins of earlier schools of feminism was acknowledging that sexual assault is a problem that can happen to anyone. Shame they keep downpl…

If feminists want to be neutral or indifferent to men issues. Then that's ok. At least indifference to men issues is better than opposition men issues. Something feminists usually do. I agree 100%. See, I have no problem with womens rights activists in general. People may mix that with feminism buts it's not the same. Feminism only incorporates womens rights as a priority, but womens rights activism doesn't have to have ties to feminism. You could be a womens rights activist, and a mens rights a…

Wow. I'm not even gonna take the time to offer a significant rebuttal to this. It would really be a waste of time. However, we do call them out, dissociate ourselves from them and that is sufficient to make sure that it's a weak minority. The NOW organization isn't a weak minority. As a result, our attention shouldn't primarily go to hypothetical men who would be oppressed if the minority of misandrists had their way. I swear, many feminists hate it when their movement gets called out for the misandry they've engaged in. Tell that to all the men's shelters and resources destroyed for helping men and the individuals creating these resources harassed to extreme measures She should tell that to the feminists protesting against Warren Farrell in 2014 at the University of Toronto where he came to talk about the epidemic of male suicide and men's rights. Great comment. Lots of good information, also I may read the "Women as Force in History", looks interesting as well. Athenian woman remarks to Sparta's Queen Gorgo that "you Spartan women are the only ones who rule their men." To which Gorgo replied, "Yes, we are the only ones that give birth to men." What Queen Gorgo said goes hard 😂

Wow, this is 100% the answer I was looking for. And yeah it makes sense. They can justify it as they see themselves as "punching up" when being misandrist towards men. They see themselves as the oppressed, not the oppressors. They will always frame their thoughts and opinions regarding gender issues - all around that belief. They see themselves as the oppressed, so any misandry they commit isn't THAT bad (in their eyes) and its "understandable".

India, Israel For these two countries, the government actually proposed to have rape become gender neutral, but feminists in those countries stopped it. This would be a good rebuttal, although anyone reading this, feel free to post your own rebuttal. The more the better.

Also, this is very random, but I'd like to hear your opinion on something regarding feminism perpetrating misandry. From reading many of your comments and posts overtime, you seem to have a lot of knowledge on gender studies. So, I came across a post which listed evidence of feminism perpetrating misandry all throughout the first wave, second wave, third wave, and just in general. "Okay, this is messed up, I agree. But you have to remember that all of this is a reaction to the rape and oppression of women by men throughout human history. So we shouldn't be surprised to see misandrist ideas within feminism and it's completely understandable." I swear these feminists live in a different world 🤦🏿‍♂️ Honestly, there are many ways you can answer this, but I'd say this: "If that's the case, would you agree with the saying that "feminism helps men too?" I meant that statement as something of a joke, As in he could've done better than the lady he was whistling at (tho her death bed confession was that it was all a lie, that's besides the point). He having been lynched ostensibly bc being a black teen he wasn't good enough for a white lady. I don't mean it as a 'he could've done better than a white lady', far more that he was clearly deserving of someone better than that lady, contrary to the ostensible reason given for his lynching. This is an old thread, but anyways, This study does show that men who perceives themselves as unattractive were more misogynistic and so were men who perceives themselves as very attractive to women or successful with dating (probably due to sexual narcissism), but lower or higher number of romantic partners was not linked to misogyny (misogynistic and dark triad men are short-term mating oriented even if they have an average number of girlfriends in life) So then what does this mean? This is a pretty old thread, but whatever, I just want to ask Male friends are imo, much more honest and direct. As guys, we're often willing to hear and assist our friends, but often when there is something concrete to be done. Need a ride somewhere? Need advice on career? This is an old thread (and comment) and probably wont be seen, but anyways, this topic is very open ended as many different people have had many different experiences regarding this. So what I tell you will simply be from a different perspective. Woman want balance, a good and reasonable amount of emotional expression. While this does sound reasonable (which it is), it's not as simple as that (nowhere near). Your perception of "balance of emotional expression" is different in every other woman. …

Honestly, the main reason why I'm afraid of actually going public with this, is because I know I will face lots of opposition, especially from feminists. Feminists have a lot of power. See what they did to Erin Pizzey? She was literally receiving bomb threats, feminists killed her dog, completely removed her from the shelter she made (Refuge), why? All because she wanted to help male victims of domestic abuse. It's clear that a lot of these feminists will not hesitate to destroy you. I have spok…

It's great that things have improved obv. men do what you say and they do it a lot too we are just talking relative to women Oh in that case yeah. i agree that these kind of stereotypes and studies exaggerate things alot They really do. To add on to the second point, a huge part of men are the problem. Let that sink it. I'm saying a huge part of men, not all, are creating value for women simply for who they are. Look at social media, look at the gender demographic of content creators on platforms like OnlyCans, look at the parking policy in various public places. Honestly, I don't fully agree. While yes the average woman is seen with more value than the average man, the reason why men partake in more dangerous jobs is because..…

However a good way to sum it up is that intimacy is the act of self disclosing to a friend Ah I see, is self-disclosure really an issue with male friendships in abglosphere/western societies? Speaking from anecdotal experiences, the men that I personally know seem to not have an issue selt-disclosing private information to me, or to others. How would we even know that other men are doing this?

want to voice my opinion saying that i find this phenomenon to be completely cultural men are as intimate with their friends and seek their support from their same sex peers as much as women in India, Jordan, Portugal and turkey and worth to mention the detrimental effect for lack of friendship are similar in men and women Honestly, this makes sense. Interesting. Thanks for your input. Honestly, it seems to me that while many men are struggling with attaining meaningful and fulfilling friendships, many men are succeeding in attaining fulfilling friendships. What do you mean by mainstream media? That's so broad and vague. The news? TV/movies? Articles? Well, I did put an article in my post. The more dudes are publicly vulnerable and emotionally complicated, the more 'mainstream media' (whatever you meant) will reflect that. ...I should've spe…

I hope that this trend doesn't discourage men for asking for reciprocation - because it shouldnt. Who gives a shit if these specific women have a problem with men asking for reciprocation. These women are red flags. The solution? Search for a woman that reciprocates and avoid these ones like the plague. Do not fold to these womens shaming tactics.

In my circle, guys friendships formed in a gradual way, over a significant amount of time, slowly building trust, but once it clicks, they're family. I trust my close friends with anything and know we've all got each others backs, so can tell each other anything, fears, insecurities, advice and sometimes things they might not want to hear, This highlights my experience so well. Hmm that's interesting. Go to any retirement city and you'll see car loads, van loads, and truck loads of women together going to social events with one or two men along. The harem's are real. We call them Q-tip buses. To me it sounds like these men are of high social status no? As in they probably make a lot of money. It's often wealthier men who engage in harems.

They really are. I never understood trying to generalize half the population when there are billions of men and women That's why we should say: SOME men/women, MANY men/women, FEW men/women, MINORITY of women/men, MAJORITY of men/women, VAST MAJORITY of women/men, THESE men/women, THOSE men/women, etc. Generalizations aren't that helpful to be honest.

This is an old thread, but I read your comment and you were able to put what I was thinking into words. For some reason, the mainstream media has developed this idea that male friendships are not as "fulfilling" or "emotionally supportive" as female friendships. The main reason is that not all male friendships work the same way (I'll use myself as an example): I have male friends who I consider to be more "acquaintances" (as in my bond…

That's interesting...but what about repeated offenders of rape? Are they a minority of cases? The critical difference between murder and rape is that murder is often, if not usually, planned in advance while most documented cases of rape, where the victim is an adult, involve no significant premeditation. In the infamous Brock Turner case, for example, it would appear that someone arriving at the right time to say "hey, not cool" actually would have put a stop to everything. In fact, such people…

Yes back in the early 19th century Sarah Grimké came up with this idea that in the bible when God curses Adam and Eve after the whole snake incident, she interprets the words of God as a prediction that men will oppress and persecute all women in the future, so yes, to feminists the fall is the event that makes men inherently evil and inherently oppressive assholes towards women. They separate the two because the patriarchy is basically Marxism rebranded. Instead of the proletariat VS the bourgeoisie and arising the means of production, it's women vs men and seizing the means of reproduction. There have been societies that were matriarchies too. It's a broad paintbrush. Looks at the current list of billionaires. The people with the power make the rules. I agree with this. It's the people (men and women) who are at the top of the higharchy that makes the rules. As far as "The Patriarchy" that's a term that's not talking about you or I, it's about the system we're in which helps and hurts women and helps and hurts men, but was mostly put in place by men who had the power and historically has given the power to the men, and that's where it gets the name. Not every society was like this, as there are hundreds of cases of women ruling in a position that- in a patriarchy - a man would be in. I see the younger generations of men beginning to wake up. Wake up to the hate, discrimination, and misandry that society has been trying to groom into them. I'm already seeing this happening. I am a teenager myself, I've had talks about feminism, misandry, etc. With other men my age. So far, I haven't received any backlash from them. In fact, I've helped open their eyes even further to the amount of rampant misandry that's occurring right now. It was in my early teens that I began to start rese…

This is so true. I think that we as men were grown to see women as these "precious angels" (it's why male simps exist). Have you ever heard of the "Women are Wonderful effect" ? It's a term to describe the way that both men and women will view women more positively just because they're women - even when, at times, they shouldn't be. It's basically the same thing regarding the way male and female fetishes is viewed.
/r/MensRights23/05/24 07:27 AM

Males will rarely discuss this. Being able to even speak on reddit like this is a new phenomenon to me - I reached my breaking point and came on here and realized other men are struggling too. It's extremely frowned upon outside of the male community. That's why you tend to only hear about female stories as if it's a female only issue. This is true 100%. I hate to admit it but I thought the whole nurse's being fetishes was always males fetishizing female nurses. I never thought it was the other …

My gosh😕 once again I have a lot of respect for you guys. Having to deal with this must be tough, especially when you can't do anything about it (especially when your a paramedic). I've been learning about the issues which men go through for quite a while now, but it's only today that I've learned about this. Unfortunately there is probably very little studies/information on this. I did a little research and I only found info talking about female paramedics experiencing this stuff. Not male 😔

Exactly this. According to feminists and misandrists: Men are oppressive, violent, have all the power, but at the same time we are disposable, worthless, less than, etc. It reminds me of the Schrodinger's Feminism: A woman is simultaneously a victim and empowered, until something happens, and she chooses with state benefits her the most We hold all the power but are also worthless. Could this be considered Schrodinger's Misandry? Where a society will see men as oppressors, but also disposable, u…

Exactly, if you replaced half the male population with bears, a lot of women worldwide will be dead (depending on the bear of course, if its bears like black bears, grizzley/brown bears, or polar bears, they're screwed. They better hope it's like panda bears or something lol).

Lets copy paste their logic, women are the majority of child rapists, by that logic i should leave my child with a crocodile rather than a woman. Mothers abuse their children at higher rates than fathers, but there are little to no bear attacks on children. So that means a child is more safer with a bear than his own mother? Mothers have killed their own children at higher rates than bears have killed children, does that mean a child is more safer with a bear than his own mother? The majority of…

Ah I see, thanks for the clarification. It's crazy that stuff like this is being circulated around the internet, and people (misandrists) are genuinely BELIEVING it. Now the artificial womb - that WILL exist. Give it a little more time. There's no doubt this will exist in the near future but like IVF, it'll be ungodly expensive. Will it function like a normal female womb? Also, how would the egg found in females be transferred into this womb along with sperm cells?

If law enforcement or legal systems did start measuring it, then the current narrative of men being the "more violent sex" would be called into question. Ehhh, I highly doubt it. Misandrists and feminists would make sure to flip it back on the men, and somehow make the woman the victim. However, in many such cases (like the case of Michael Fife's murder over a false accusation of sexual assault), the only individual punished would have never been a threat to anyone if they hadn't been manipulate…

The third wave was when men’s issues really began being taken into account (encouraging men to show emotions, allowing men to wear “feminine” clothes if they want to…feminists groups even took part in court cases to end all-male conscription in America!). That’s also when education was becoming more commonly gender neutral (in the sense that boys were taught that they could do what girls could do, such as showing emotions). Where are these feminists?? Feminism is not and cannot be an ally to men so long as it considers men's well being of lesser importance than the reputation and political power of feminism. Unfortunately I dont see this happening. Because a very core part of feminist ideology is that men are the oppressors, women are the oppressed. If you look at feminist literature, that core part of it is never removed. Its enforced in one way or another.

Yeah, I cant think of any. Black men getting the right to vote with the 15th amendment, while white women had to wait until the 19th. I can easily argue against this, but it is still technically the case. But the thing is, even though black men were technically allowed to vote, they were forcefully stopped by the racist southern whites via lynching, violence, etc. Despite having the "priviledge" to vote, they risked their lives doing so. Another reason why black men were given the vote first, was because it was a politica…

This is really good. And it makes sense too. What I like about calling these behaviors Internalized Misandry instead of Toxic Masculinity, is that it actually points out the role that women play in enforcing these misandrist expectations on men. The way that Guy reacted to her asking for forgiveness can give a different message to the person reading their story. I appreciate your take on it. Thanks man. Have a good day/night

Honestly I don't think Guy was still holding a grudge against her. He didn't respond with a message with the intent to lash out at her. He simply ignored it. He simply just didn't care about the incident anymore since the situation happened years ago.

It's so funny to me how instead of focusing on other, more important parts of the story, you focus only on the part where M asked for forgiveness and Guy just ignored the message.

and feminist usually ignore or gaslight you if you talk about male victims with the “by other men” bs counter Isn't that victim blaming? That's like telling a woman who was raped that "you should've been wearing less revealing clothing". Also, look at this study: Female on male rape is neck and neck with male on female rape. They simply call female on male rape other words to hide that. There are some really interesting results.

Because being a first class citizen doesn't mean you are immune to becoming homeless or jobless in our modern hyper individualist society Being a first class citizen means you're less likley to end up homeless and jobless because you are seen as important, and of more value than middle class, and low class citizens. Those statistics arise because women are better at holding on to their jobs, or less likely to try drugs. Why dont we mention the fact that there are more women in college than men. …

I dont know what type of feminism your referring to. For the past 100-200 years feminism has been trying to break the traditional roles of men and women. Why do you think that feminism still supports the traditional protecter-provider role of a man, when they encourage women to adapt to the modern roles ("independent, don't need no man") of a woman? In order for a man to adapt to his traditional role, the woman has to also adapt to her traditional role. There can never be just one. Feminism isn'…

From primary school boys are literally taught to be girls. Female teachers would shame and punish boys for roughhousing and being "aggressive". These same boys see how girls are not getting the same treatment as them, so they start to follow the way girls act in class. That isn't a good thing. Those boys don't grow up to be masculine men unless they change themselves overtime. The education system better suits girls than it does for boys.

This doesn't mean that men should not be allowed to be vulnerable at times, but learning stoicism will benifit your life and mental being. Especially if you're a man.

Can you tell me more about this male survivor campaign? I'm interested to hear about this. Especially how you said feminism was involved. From what I've seen, time and time again feminism completely degrades male survivors. It's ironic to hear feminism actually had a positive involvement in a campaign for men.

OP had all the right to hit her. She was threatening to fucking kill him. Even when OP tried to report to authorities they completely dismissed it. What else should he have done? Talk it over with her? Clearly the girl is super narcissistic.

For some reason I find that really hard to believe. Do you have sources? If not then can you give a better explanation on why female judges are the least sexist against men?

Society did. Whenever theres a war, male or female rulers will draft men. I thought feminism was about equality though? Why arent feminists advocating for women to be drafted in Ukraine??

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
