How does this 'pay equity' work if women, on average, work fewer hours? What about where skills and experience differ? How about overtime/evenings/weekends? What about the part timers? Also, and this is the big one; what about when teachers still get paid less than engineers because they're different jobs?

That doesn't mean the option isn't there. And still the point stands: you can't use the excuse "keep it in your pants then" unless you're applying it to all

...you do know that penises all look the same when erect, right? That the foreskin protects the glans, but retracts? The biggest issue here, though, is that you think it's justified to cut a baby because of a cosmetic thing you like as an adult

No circumcised kid is going to have an easier time with anything. What are you thinking would be? Sex? A kid? You're a moron. Maybe medical issues such as phimosis? Ok, well if that happens, as with any symptom of anything, then treat it - we don't do mastectomies on the off chance that best cancer might occur. What do you think? STDs? Again, this is in infant we're using about. And I should probably mention that the "reduces hiv" trope is a falsehood and complete red herring - in the west, with…

Just like the military tests - if the standard required is the standard then that's what it is; everyone should meet that. Lowering it for any reason should, not only, carry across the board for all applicants, but should ask the question about why it was so high previously and the actual level of ability being passed through. Here it is a medical school, the objective should be meritocracy based on medical ability

She could close her legs, or get a tubal and use birth control. If you're mature enough to have sex you should be mature enough to accept the responsibilities that come with it or deal with the consequences.

So to a woman you'd say: "you have a choice, several in fact: use a condom, get a tubal, close your legs"? I think not. In fact women don't have to endure pregnancy and childbirth if they don't want, isn't that the point? As for being giddy with joy and gratitude, I think that'll come when we have reproductive rights, maybe then we won't be "resentful" as you put it. Funny that - resentment from lack of rights, mind boggling, isn't it?

Because they don't like the idea that men might have something to say, that gender issues affect men too and/or in different ways - essentially it's an effort to shame and silence us with the added effect of discouraging people from listening to what we have to say. Thing is, that's all they have as we have logic, fact and statistics

Strawman arguments... like the idea of a 'rape culture' that doesn't have anything to do with prisons and isn't based on anything other than fear and feels? And "selective cases"?... such as the national stats I provided which show how actually rare the crime is? if you were to compare against any other crime it'd be rare, in fact, the amount of coverage and concern with this type of crime far outstrips all others ergo no culture. It's taken very seriously, only, some people want to diminish thi…

A "culture" indicates or insinuates a following, a group, a common activity, tradition etc. accepted behaviours and such - we know this isn't the case in rape "culture" - rape is a heinous crime and in the west is taken very seriously. If we want to tackle an issue what would be needed is fact, reality, not hyperbole and fear tactics, which is what "rape culture" is, calling everything rape and developing this idea that it is common, almost inevitable and around every corner. It's that sentiment…

This is a very good issue to raise... however, this has very little to do with MR or feminism. Censorship and mischaracterising literature is indeed a problem - how can we laud certain "classic" works that deal with sex, blasphemy, violence etc. but vilify others just because they're more modern or they offend? And graphic novels as a modern literature platform in and of itself is a great debate. Article raises great discussion points, wrong sub tho

At 21000 a year in a UK population of 64m (that's around 0.03% of the population), and 90000 in a U.S. population of 300m (also 0.03%), it's hardly indicative of a culture, otherwise it'd be going on left right and centre in far greater numbers. Likewise, if we didn't care there'd be no convictions - in the UK the conviction rate for rape is 58%... the conviction rate for reportable crimes of all types is 57%. If there were a culture of rape; ignoring it, allowing it, promoting(?) it, you'd expe…

Well, every US president (and the vast majority of world leaders in all countries over the last ~100 years) has been a man, 97% have been white, large majorities of Senate and Congress over the last hundred years have been white men, a large majority of CEOs of major companies and the wealthiest people are white men, etc. ...and how many men have not been a president, or senator, or CEO, or wealthy?... I'm not trying to hijack your post, but this is pretty much how they treat ethnic minorities too; they quite happily use us for stats, to prove inclusiveness or to hammer someone/some organisation for oppression or lack of diversity... but where it lends itself to their ends. And chivalry should be dead. no self respecting man or woman should want it - chivalry is male servitude to a woman because she's a woman and no more, it is being a doormat. It's often confused with common courtesy but that's bullshit - its all about men doing something for women. women aren't prostrating themselves for men, protecting men, paying for men, serving men, so why should men do it for women? Its because feminism has dominated the gender issues debate for so long and because they've muddied the waters on the gender debate; they've made it all about other things, being ethnic, being gay, being trans, having some affliction and and and - you only need to see how they feel the need to identify themselves on any media platform letting you know how much more of a struggle they must be facing. So its easy to see why people get confused and wonder whether or not the MRM is about other... su…

Your homosexuality has little to do with the MRM at large - its about the issues men face, gender based, not sexuality. There are tons of gay members/followers etc. but unlike feminism that requires special snowflake attributes (lgbt/disabled/ethnic) or whatever to give credence, we include all men as men. If you do want people to campaign particularly for gay rights, though, there are much better placed groups and organisations that can and will focus on that

Yet hypergamy flies under the radar again. Sorry, dating was ruined by who? And by what? it can't be women rinsing guys for free dinners and drinks, it can't be women using guys as show off trophies and wallets. I can't think of any time where a man has been the "good guy" for ending a bad relationship (either in media, a public figure, or anyone I know). Truer words never written. Ending a bad relationship seems to be the preserve of women, brave downtrodden women making a life affirming change etc. finding new love or being independent... a guy doing it? He ran away from his responsibilities, he's having a mid life crisis, he's shallow or selfish, he had a good thing before and so on.

Do all people who follow the mentality of MGTOW "dislike" or even "hate" all women? No. And the only reason you and others think that is because not pandering to women is seen as sexist or misogynist. When a man decides to live life on his own terms, not as a slave to gynocentric norms, he goes his own way. The sooner you realise how much you actually do for women because of women and not yourself, it'll blow your mind and you'll be far happier for it

When, as a society, we stop deifying and worshipping women - true equality, responsibilities and all, literally no special treatment because vagina. But that won't happen. So when, as a society, we have more compassion for men, stop seeing men as utilities or servants, when we start treating other men like human people not competition - which could happen sooner, as always is the white knights that need to change and learn, not the women because be honest they won't

Feminism, and feminists, like to say they're about equality. They aren't. There is no feminist effort for male issues nor effort to address inequalities that face men or unfairly benefit women - in fact anything that benefits women but to the detriment of men is still lauded. I'll probably just say it again: if anyone was actually being paid less for the same exact job they could take it to court. If I was being picky I would add that experience, negotiation and performance would factor in, but "pay gap" in relation to gender disparity doesn't exist

/r/MensRights24/04/15 01:12 PM

Because: Feminism is about female supremacy, not equality. If it was we'd see them address inequalities that actually exist and that affect men, too. Feminists not only exaggerate, but lie and promote both, and when not doing that minimising/ignoring certain others e.g. promoting and repeating wage gap lies and misusing rape stats, and ignoring male victims of any crime Further to that, feminism has the idea of deconstructing gender roles... where it advantages women. No feminist has actually wo…

Quite simply to address gender inequalities faced by men. If you are honest about your intentions, and open, then you'll know that men make up over 90% of workplace fatalities, over 85% of suicides, over 80% of the homeless. I don't see why you're getting downvoted, there is an element of "benevolent sexism" and men in the services do need to get used to it, however, the women involved do need to be up to scratch and the only way we can achieve both men accepting women and treating them the same is for women to be involved. Women being killed by men isn't the epidemic they make it out to be. Even DV, as horrible as it is, rarely ends up with a dead woman. You're right though, every so often there's an article, or whatever, trying to put an amount on how much housework, say, is worth. That it's unpaid "work" equivalent to a job. the problem is though, that I do housework, I cook, clean and do laundry and am in full time employment, so if unemployed women (and they are unemployed, "full time mum" or "home maker" isn't a job) are worth a salary, then so are the rest of us in addition to the real salaries we earn at real jobs.

How are we ever going to get increased numbers in STEM when the majority of teachers are women with no interest or ability in STEM in the first place? Teachers with degrees in either teaching or flimsy liberal arts nonsense. There needs to be real incentive for people with actual STEM ability and experience to go into teaching. Teaching can't be left to people who don't know what to do with their lives or who aren't qualified to do anything other than teach

It's never sat well with me that, on the one hand, these (usually liberal) types go on about celebrating and respecting all these different cultures and ways, that the west should generally feel guilty for blighting the world and our 'cultures' are barely cultures compared, then on the other hand saying these foreigners are backwards compared to our assumed superior western 'progressiveness' or enlightenment and must change to be part of the modern world. Apologies if this isn't the kind of discussion you wanted, but I wanted to highlight a few points to anyone who might happen across this thread: It's not necessarily about how we "feel" about it, because people are different and many who have been cut have nothing to compare it to as they were cut as babies - the crux of the circumcision 'argument' is certainly about bodily autonomy as you've mentioned, getting to make an informed decision yourself. So you have standards, accept that, you'd be far more unhappy if you were going along with things against your will or nature. So you have what you think is a low tolerance for bullshit? So what? Good for you! Everyone knows that men have to jump through all the hoops to impress women, you've just found yourself at a position where you're starting to realise "what are they doing to impress me?..... not much", so obviously if they aren't floating your boat why bend for them?

Then go get laid - play the game but understand the goal and your objectives. Or see hookers, or just masturbate more. Point is, if you want to do it, do it, be objective though what is your aim, how does it affect you, how does it improve or detract from the rest of your goals. Should a quota be set for women at the top of businesses? Simply, no. Unless you're doing at the bottom, too. First look at why you'd want quotas, is it because of male dominance? If so there are plenty of male dominated jobs out there 90%+ in some cases - if it's equality you're after aim for the larger disparity. How many men are actually even at the top of business anyway? It certainly isn't the majority. Quotas infantilise women, and if quotas for women, do businesses have to represent racia…

No, the idiocy is believing in some mystical system of conspiracy. Trotting out the old 'patriarchy' line is old, worn out and, more importantly, actually useless in addressing gender issues. There is no such thing as a patriarchy. This amorphous concept to blame or use to excuse your own actions. No, MRM and feminism cannot work together, particularly when the core tenet of feminism is "the patriarchy did it". What are the true barriers to gender equality? Feminism. And feminist lies. And feminists. Start with the wage gap myth, move on to the ignorance and belittlement of men's issues, ask why they don't want equality, or rather, point out the flaw in their definition of equality

It's a bit rich because, if anyone could be compared to racists, it would be the feminists. They paint all blacks to be rapists or criminals, don't want fair treatment for blacks, want to make it possible for any woman to have a black jailed or fined at their word, can't stand negroes being educated or earning, want the negroes to do slave work and die to support their lifestyles, neither do they care if the negroes kill each other or themselves. In short, can't afford 'em? Don't have 'em. That's often the thing used to further diminish this as a male issue of consequence; this idea that women attempt suicide at a higher rate. which men does the men's rights movement stand for? All of them But then there's the delineation you've mentioned, and I think you already know the problem, or answer - if it's specifically about how a man is treated because he's gay then the lgbt lot have that covered likewise of its a race issue, it's a race issue. But if it's a men's issue? It's a men's issue. Now, have a look at the side bar, the issues large or small that face men face all men, gay, straight, black or orange. What you have …

What is often telling are the shaming tactics used: that he's "afraid" of commitment, that he should grow up, that so-and-so they know proposed by this time already, and so on. What simply to say to women is that you (or the subject) just don't want to yet, or even at all. Autonomy. Also, what's so good about marriage anyway? If the idea is to spend the rest of your lives with each other, then just do that. And if it's supposed to be forever, why the rush now?

What this campaign, and Emma Watson, remind me of is racist political parties and groups who realised that they couldn't be so overtly racist anymore. They're not being openly sexist (yet) because they want to seem on the level, pretending they're friendly or 'good'. As far as I'm concerned they're just paying lip service to equality and, until I see something actually egalitarian ie not just female inequality, I will regard it as utter bullshit and more of the same old feminism.

When women start working longer hours (ie the same as men), do more overtime, work more weekends, and do the same jobs as men, maybe then they might earn what men do. Ultimately, yes. But in reality? Feminists for example say they want to remove gender roles but it's more of the same "all of the advantages, none of the responsibilities". And, as feminist sentiment pretty much drives gender issues, I don't think society will ever see, or ever work toward, men not having traditional gender roles - we'll always be expected to work and die with no recognition, acknowledgement or thanks and certainly with no complaint

There needs to be more articles, more websites about male issues. Just Google some generic terms or issues and the top links are usually some feminist horseshit deriding anything mra. Your right, to change the narrative we need to have an effect on the media, but unfortunately the media is run by liberal, middle class, white, men and women who are ok and don't see the injustices - white knights and feminists. See, I get that, but they're still keeping "mother's day". If in the interests of fairness and being considerate to those without fathers they shouldn't then still focus on mothers - what of kids that aren't raised by parents at all? Relatives, guardians, fosters etc etc? Plus what if the kids do have fathers but they're denied access or whatever? Still, yet again, even in this small case mothers are seen as actual parents and are a protected class

You don't 'win'... But seriously, feminism and other movements have paved a way - they've influenced how we perceive and address gender and equality issues, enough that people are starting to see the "other" sides to inequality. Essentially, feminism will be hoisted by it's own petard when their rules get applied equally, across the board - that's the arising problem we're seeing, they don't like it

Drivers have been specifically taught to drive within the speed limits (it's even a condition of gaining a license) that fines and penalties exist, so why are there speeding violations? Yes. But I think it's also largely irrelevant - men are men, men's issues are men's issues regardless of race, sexuality etc. Historically homosexual issues have been dealt with by other (more established) groups

Slightly missed, but irregardless, if the issue was actually genital mutilation then it stands to reason to address the vastly common one, the legal one, the one that happens on our doorsteps. If there is change to be had on that issue then male circumcision is where it's at - FGM is already illegal and widely condemned; there is a ton of information, articles, campaigns and so on but, in Europe and the US, to what end? All the disinformation and blind acceptance is around male circumcision. Gen…

Hyperagency vs hypoagency. Cases like this (woman found lying and punished) are extremely rare, more often than not accused men are railroaded and jailed on lies, and even if the claim was false, no punishment for the accuser. False rape claims are very much a men's rights issue as false rape claims ruin the lives of the accused and (one could argue) disproportionately affect men. some women have been known, and been proved, to use rape accusations as a weapon which works because the narrative s…

He jumps to obvious and understandable conclusions I should point out the bullshit here but... he has every reason to believe the kid is a threat to his family, Except he isn't. He's not armed, he's just a kid, he's not threatening life. Believing, wishing, and hoping and hypotheticals don't change the facts. he commands the kid not to move, he moves, he shoots. That is the worst, lamest thinnest excuse of them all. He 'moved'? He reached for 'something'? Still not a threat The father did nothin…

It's terribly easy for you to sit in your comfy little chair, log onto your little computer and tell everybody all about what that guy "should have done" when you weren't the one in the heat of the situation. Yes. Easy to not kill someone. Have you tried it? Go ahead, try it now. Also, if the guy can't handle "the heat of the situation" what he doing waving a gun about? what you're saying is, shoot first, just in case. Intellectually dishonest? You might want to read your own posts, matey. Is the kid dead? Yes Did the father kill him? Yes Ergo, the father is responsible for killing the kid. He's a murderer. You keep jumping through hoops, defending a blatant murder. "Oh but he moved" "oh, but he might have been an intruder, don't worry that he wasn't". Let's just ignore the facts, right? And believe the murderers account is completely honest, because why would he possibly and justify his crime? But wait I gott…

Oh of course, because not murdering someone is such a terrible idea This whole thing is the girl's fault, not the father's. Yet he was the one with the gun, he chose to shoot and not check or even try to solve the situation without death. You're literally trying to put the gun in someone else's hand. He's a killer. He killed the kid. It's his fault. She might have filled his head with lies, he still physically shot the kid

Had she not been lying and the kid did in fact break into the house trying to rape her he had every right to kill him. No. Where is the rule that states you get to murder a "might be" or "attempted/ing" rapist? "I was protecting my family" is a shit excuse for justifying a murder, particularly when there was no threat. It's a claim at something virtuous or ethical, but it's absolute bollocks.
/r/MensRights14/03/14 05:00 PM

Well no, not really - I'm not a liberal, but you can't justify murder because you thought he was reaching for something or because he was in your house. Ok, well because you're a product of your culture, you won't get it, but shooting someone because you've convinced yourself armed hordes might attack one day, is fucking ridiculous. The father could have easily guessed what was going on, he was overly emotional - not something you need when handling a firearm. He quite simply didn't need to shoot the boy, as plenty of people, yourself included, have said - "he didn't know...", he didn't know who the boy was, so killing him was the only option? H…

So, are they just repeating this bullshit because: a) they know the truth, but want to curry favour with female voters and then, with smoke and mirrors, without actually doing anything, show that they've made female earnings the same as male (+/- a few %), or; b) they truly believe women get paid less for the actual same job, with the same experience and ability etc etc?

As men die of more and different cancers, I have to say the 1 in 1000 (or whatever it is) male breast cancer can be put to the bottom of the pile. Prostate cancer should go to the top, but generally the awareness needs to be raised because men are at greater risk, get more cancers, die more, diagnosed less and have a lower survival after treatment

We're in a casino where, if you try and cash chips in, female victim chips are worth 1000, male victim chips .25¢. Quite simply because "it's not the same". In this instance male and female genitalia are different, that way equality or any broad campaign (ie including males) can be brushed aside You/we/anyone…

In the US women spend (up to) 80c of every dollar. They run the economy. It's easy to think the 1% might be spending big, earning and inheriting big, but the 99% are, well, 99%. and it's easy to think men earn more and work more but a lot of situations are the man working to support a family; the woman/wife/mother decides how that money earned is spent.

Interesting. A few years back I would have, if I had a gun. And you probably wouldn't say that if you knew someone who had. I hate this idea. It's borne from religion and old notions of 'good' and chivalry, honour etc. conflating 'moral good' with killing yourself for someone: "the ultimate sacrifice". But you could be against welfare and for financial abortion. People who are for personal accountability would generally agree that, if someone wants a thing, they can pay for it themselves. The situation being that the prospective mother wants to have the child - her decision, her responsibility. The government isn't paying anyone else for their lifestyle choices, so why this one? Having a kid shouldn't be based on a 'warm fuzzy' "babies are cute" reasoning - it's a lifetime commitment and, if y…

Again, you don't know what you're talking about and can't be reasoned with. There is no right or law that states a child must be supported by both parents. Trying to "see it from the child's point of view" is irrelevant when the mother chooses to have it the responsibility should lie with her. If you buy a Ferrari, you should pay for it, not someone else who didn't want a Ferrari. And what the Ferrari wants is irrelevant. The strawman is the false representation that these caricatures are reality. They are not. They are. Those two terms exist for those sexes, not the other way round. It's also a false dichotomy because these false representations aren't the only choices available or the only choices made. Nor do they reflect reality. Well, there's adoption, or care, shelters fostering and so forth. But those are still female choices. There is no choice for father. So yes, this comic still stands. Essentially, by …

Why do you claim that the child does not have it though? From a moral or legal point of view? Because they don't. An adopted child doesn't have any financial rights from biological parents. You show me the part of your law that says they do. Likewise, show me the law that states a woman can't give up her child. Actually, any child has no 'rights' to claim from their parents biological or otherwise - they have human rights, sure, but what you're thinking? No, not really As has been repeated, the …

If a woman had a child, and decided she didn't want to be a mother after it was born and left all the responsibilities with the father, she'd be a deadbeat, shitty mother! But what about the fact that women can give up their kids without those stigmas? Isn't that also the point of the comic? She still gets that choice to opt out even after she's given birth
/r/MensRights26/01/14 06:47 PM
2

If anyone wants to bring kids into the world they should think about how they're going to pay for it. If a woman wants to have a kid regardless of the fathers wishes, she should have to think about how she is going to pay for it - not the government, not the dude who didn't want it, her. Because, ultimately, it's a selfish thing to do

/r/MensRights26/01/14 06:37 PM

/r/MensRights26/01/14 06:31 PM

So what about the other options open to the mother? Adoption, shelters, care and so forth? Should then the mother be forced into parenthood or financial responsibility? Because that's what happens to the father The kid has no rights. So I don't know what you're on about - until 18 that kid is pretty much owned by the parents
/r/MensRights26/01/14 06:28 PM
2

...and the problem with that is what? Women don't have to pay for babies they don't want.
/r/MensRights26/01/14 06:21 PM
1

You do get that's it's more than just the foetus, right? This picture just says that when a woman decides she wants a Ferrari, that's her business - she shouldn't expect someone else to pay for it. 9 months or not, it's her decision. But for the next 18 years, it's the father having to pay. So, if she doesn't want to get rid of it, he shouldn't have to pay.
/r/MensRights26/01/14 06:17 PM

it takes two to make a baby. The whole point is the man should get a say, have some kind of option, not just fatherhood/financial slavery. If a women can give a child to care, or adoption or abort it before it's born, regardless of the fathers wishes, it stands to reason that the father should get some say. The picture is pretty self-explanatory by the way

How? Women have many options if they don't want a kid, not just abortion - these are options, rights. Men have no option other than go along with whatever she chooses. That is inequality. So yes, if one woman didn't want it, the father just has no kid. a man doesn't want it, but the women does? He's on the financial hook

And you're wrongness is so frustrating. Prove this thing you've asserted, not your feels or what the sisterhood has told you, real evidence. Huffpo is not evidence. Our society teaches men that if they rape, there is a reasonable chance they will not even be reported, much less charged. Hahaha, I laughed for a so…

I saw that it was written by Caroline Kent and decided it wasn't worth my time reading, I can guess it's utter tripe. WWI in Britain, suffragettes stopped their suffrage to support the war. Many women including suffragettes handed out white feathers and intimidated and shamed men who did not fight. Edit: addendum - would there be peace if women were leaders? Maybe, but when the argument is framed by feminism where women must be given special treatment or specially considered, it only stands to reason to show them their form of equality is false. Legally, it's covered in the Sexual Offences Act 2003. http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2003/42 Section 66 covers exposure and 13 covers children as offenders (but I don't think that includes offences under section 66). I don't think all the xxxx days are generally supposed to be 'celebrated' as such but acknowledged. I don't think we have to stop what we're doing and take part but it's a thing to increase awareness, I think the people that are heavily affected by whatever the day is are just grateful that their issue/disease/cause is getting some awareness and those involved with the day have a platform and key date

Any rule in place should be applied equally - equality first and foremost what we should aim for. Why? One reason is because when everyone is treated the same, the injustices will be obvious to all. It's not so much two wrongs making a right but ensuring that all parties can see that one wrong. But hey, keep banging on about your shallow notion of censorship and freedom of spee…

You really don't know how to do analogies, do you? The logic and analogy you're looking for would be: slavery is illegal and morally abhorrent, therefore, to only apply that where ethnic minorities are slaves but not where whites are slaves because 'it's their turn' would be hypocritical.

What open discourse? The groups in question aren't open forums for discussion, they're hate groups focused solely on hatred of men this case - allowing them does not further progress or feminist/masculine/egalitarian movements. FB have rules which they've upheld where the 'target' is women, it's not totally absurd to have them apply their rules equally where the 'target' is men. It's a pretty simple concept. For recognizing that argumentative feminists have never and won't consider MR issues? Or, given that feminist dogma frames gender issues, challenging women who aren't staunch feminists to think "outside the box" is what we should be doing?

That's funny because woe betide anyone who even mentions men might share in a (perceived) women's issue (see genial mutilation, breast (or any) cancer, rape, violence, employment, discrimination etc etc). "Piggy backing" they call it, also "derailing"

Then "no comment" is your friend if you get lifted. Do not let anyone coerce you into admitting something or give them the chance for you to get your words tangled. Talk to a solicitor just in case it goes further, but really, all you can do is sever all ties with those people for a good long while and don't say much more than "no I didn't".

The small considerations and acknowledgements are useful to help normalize thinking about actual gender equality or the fact that men's issues exist. Clearly what you are trying to assert is that someone said there is no culture without religion. No one said that. Why wouldn't it work? And what do the rights of the child have to do with anything? Consent must be given for sex, so why can't consent have to be given for use of sperm? I know this isn't how things work now but, as it is, men have no reproductive rights - if a woman is asshole enough to have a child against the man's wishes then she should have to deal with the child's rights, not the man who never agreed to be part of the contract
