Ex-Wife never posted pictures of us or our son when we were together. She has been posting regularly with her new boyfriend who she cheated on me and left me for. Any ideas why?Because she is an empty, soulless person. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/04/25 02:05 PM
ChurchSimilar situation for me, but the ex has become highly into the occult, astrology, magic crystals, etc. I take my child to church with me on my weekends to counteract that. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/03/25 01:24 PM
Thoughts on being divorced at 25 without kids?Similar situation here. OP should consider himself lucky af! | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/07/24 03:50 PM
Mother's dayFree handmade (by my 8 yr old) picture frame, courtesy of Home Depot Kid's Workshop. 1st Saturday of the month, and it's usually Holiday appropriate so works for Christmas also. My child and I enjoy making the projects, she gets a handmade/painted gift, and as I mentioned, free! More than she deserves, but my child benefits from it and that's all that matters. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/05/24 05:44 PM
If your wife has a “work husband” assume they will eventually hook up"Support Group" here, but goddamn yea, trust your gut! I knew something felt off, but was too trusting. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/04/24 08:14 PM
What have you learned about yourself? That I am somewhat attractive to women. I've received more compliments from women in the last few years than I received from the ex in 20 years. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/03/24 12:14 AM
Fun Topic - Waiting out other people’s divorcesYes. Currently waiting out my child's friend's parents marriage. It's only a matter of time, it's easy to tell once you've been through it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/02/24 02:25 PM
Did your Wife start seeing a Therapist before she filed for Divorce?I'm so sorry to here that man. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/02/24 08:02 PM
Did your Wife start seeing a Therapist before she filed for Divorce?Yes, and I knew it wasn't going to end well. Much like OP, within a few months of seeing the therapist (along with various AA type groups), she "decided" she needed to be an, and I quote, "independent woman and explore herself." She also made no effort in hiding the fact that she found her therapist attractive. Just curious, does any married woman in therapy get the advice to try to work it out? She still sees her therapist weekly, 5 yrs later, but quickly dropped her sober lifestyle after her A… | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/02/24 08:00 PM
Please send thoughts and prayers.....struggle is real. All you need is your son! 43, divorced 5 years with an 8 yr old. I jumped from one sub par relationship to the next for the first 3 yrs, and finally realized I need to devote all my time and resources into myself and my son. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/02/24 08:46 PM
Sex after divorceSpeaking only for myself as a 43 yr old divorced man: Online dating works but is tedious and exhausting but so far has been my best avenue for meeting single/divorced women. After 20 yrs of marriage, I have no idea how to approach a woman in public or ask for a date irl. I'm not giving up though. I'm trying to take the advice posted in the many dating subs of pursuing a hobby or do volunteer work to meet someone, but honestly as a single parent I'm pretty limited as far as social options. The re… | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/01/24 02:06 PM
How did you stay so calm!Wait 12-24 hrs before responding to any documented communication (email/text). Type the response when angry, save draft, and edit in the morning/next day. I realized very quickly that anything and everything I said would be used against me if necessary. I defaulted to what I called "professional communication," meaning I composed my emails as if I was communicating with an unknown business contact. Polite but to the point. And detailed enough to leave no room for question. If you are struggling … | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/01/24 07:23 PM

Too many of the online resources for men's emotional support seem to be red pilled garbageI made a point to steer clear of anything "red pill," especially in the early days after my divorce. I'm only speaking from my own experience, but I knew a few guys who were into that line of thinking and it didn't seem to help them at all. If anything, it made them angry, bitter and worsened the situation. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/01/24 03:44 PM
Thoughts on account resetsNo kids? You owe nothing. I did get all new accounts/phone, but that was more about protecting my interests during the legal process. If things are finalized, why should you go through all the hoops of changing everything? Just block and (try) to forget. Good luck, your happiness will increase exponentially from now on! | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/01/24 03:43 AM
18 months later and still dreaming about her every single night.5 years post divorce here and I have the same type of dreams. She's just "there," a character in my dream, so to speak. We're not arguing specifically or getting along. It's hard to explain but it makes sense after 20 years with someone. | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/01/24 05:06 PM
Help: Just seen my ex wife on dating app.Happened to me a few months after the divorce. The funny thing was that the app said we were a 95% match! We were deep in the resentful, court stages of the divorce at that point, but I just had to tell her, I found it so hilarious! | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/01/24 10:03 PM
How to handle last minute promises when you've had the talk to leave?OP please pay careful attention to the 2nd paragraph of the above comment. Read it several times over. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/12/23 07:34 PM
How to handle last minute promises when you've had the talk to leave?I actually told my ex "you can't untoast the toast" when she began making her threats of divorce. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/12/23 07:32 PM
Friends with your ex wifeI view my ex wife like a coworker. We have a child together, so we have a shared goal. In this case the goal is raising our child to be a good, productive, healthy person. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/12/23 06:58 PM
Friends with your ex wifeFriends? No. Friendly? Yes. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/12/23 06:52 PM
X wife car not starting…My ex had the nerve to ask me to help move boxes out of the attic after she abandoned our home. Same response here, you're a "strong independent woman that doesn't need a man, right?" Find a big butch to help you then. | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/12/23 02:42 AM
Ex-wife asked me if I was interested in becoming "friends with benefits". It was the greatest day of my life....I can think of nothing more gratifying than turning down my ex wife for sex. We've been divorced a few years, and I now have absolutely 0 sexual attraction to her. I almost see her more like a female relative or something. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/11/23 08:52 PM
I broke the rule…I ignored giant red flags due the validation of being wanted by another woman so soon after being rejected by my wife of 20 years. I don't regret the relationship (about a yr) at all, but I can now see it for what it really was, two lonesome people bonding over heartbreak. I'm not saying this is your case at all OP, just throwing in my two cents. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/11/23 03:26 AM
What Did You Tell Mutual Friends?I just told mutual acquaintances that we were divorcing but remaining amicable. That was not true and it came as a surprise to no one. I doubt one person at our wedding even thought we had a chance. Anyway, the point is, do not bad mouth her to anyone except close family or friends (meaning that you need a healthy outlet to vent). When asked about the situation by anyone else, have a neutral response prepared. I went with, "Yes, it's a shame but sometimes things just don't work out." | 5 | Cheating wife. Any suggestions on a good GPS tracker? If you are to the point that you are considering this, do you really need or want the hard proof? Start forming an exit strategy with an attorney now. Things will not get better. Edit: I totally get where you are coming from and what you are feeling, I've been in your spot. Finding out the details will only serve to hurt your psyche in the end. Accept that it's over and go into self preservation mode. You don't deserve this and you are better than that sort of treatment. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/10/23 02:27 AM
She fucked another manI don't think it's a good idea to be communicating with her on such a personal level this soon after filing. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/10/23 04:51 AM

Wife says she has “Outgrown our Marriage”The branch will snap quicker than she knows. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/08/23 02:56 AM
Wife says she has “Outgrown our Marriage”You are so correct. It may take time, but she will indeed regret it. My ex was so high and mighty when she decided "she needed to be her own person" until it all came crashing down and I was more than happy to continue proceedings. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/08/23 02:54 AM
Wife says she has “Outgrown our Marriage”I agree, unfortunately, from experience. There's some consolation in the fact that AP will want nothing to do with her in a few months after divorce. Again, speaking from experience only. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/08/23 02:45 AM
Wife says she has “Outgrown our Marriage”It's over. Get a lawyer quick. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/08/23 02:43 AM
No wife happy lifeI know the feeling exactly. It really hit me one day at our child's soccer game. She snapped at me over something minor, and I just stood up and walked away. I felt so good knowing I didn't have to go home with that. I'm broke as fuck and things are hard and very stressful for me right now, but I will happily eat ramen every day rather than live with and in such misery. | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/07/23 03:18 PM

Has anyone tried antidepressants?I'm sorry to go against the advice of any pervious comments, however, OP there are many factors at play other than the way you feel. I really don't mean to sound harsh, I promise, I've been exactly where you are. It takes a long time to find your correct dosage on these types of medications, especially SSRI types. I am only speaking from second hand experience, so please take my advice with a grain of salt...but I have seen people seemingly change over night with these types of medications. | 4 | Not filed yet…but she’s separating financesExactly what happened in my situation. She was taking the advice of "paralegals" at her job, which had absolutely nothing to do with divorce or family law. My attorney fees were insane but I'd gladly spend every cent again on professional representation. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/06/23 08:13 PM
UpdateFor the love of God OP, listen to this (and all similar) comments. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR HOME! It was the first thing my attorney told me. I'm not completely sure of the legal ins/outs (depending on the state), but by leaving you put yourself at a huge disadvantage when the divorce goes to court. This sub is a great place for support and ideas, but you MUST consult a attorney asap and DO NOT let her find out. | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/06/23 05:01 PM
Signs Marriage is OverIf you are asking yourself that question, chances are it's already over. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/06/23 04:28 PM
Has anyone’s wife come back?Oh God no! Seriously, people have asked if she wanted, would I take her back? The answer is obviously no. The amount of betrayal and the way she treated me during the divorce is just too much for me to ever get past. Plus, I just don't see her that way anymore, she is simply the mother of my child now. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/06/23 04:05 PM

How to deal with "toxic" co-parent? Practical advices neededYou will find there is a great satisfaction letting someone think "they won." It lets you be the actual "winner" whether they know it or not. It's all about knowing ahead of time what out of the conversation. | 3 | How to deal with "toxic" co-parent? Practical advices neededThere is a book, "Crucial Conversations" that helped me hugely with this type of situation. The book is a quick read, and applies to any personal or professional relationships. Basically, it boils down to carefully choosing how and when you will approach a conversation where you don't agree. I'm not doing a very good job of explaining it so check it out if you can. | 1 | My soon to be ex is a stay at home…she wants to keep the very expensive house which is solely under my name since she can’t afford it for roughly 7 years until she can refinance it under her name…would you do it? We have several kids and she says I owe it to them since I destroyed our marriage.Very fair interpretation of the sub, and I agree. My mistake if I misunderstood OPs general question. Honestly, I'm nervous for OP and don't want him getting any bad advice, that's all. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/04/23 01:43 AM

We have several kids and she says I owe it to them since I destroyed our marriage. Please, please, speak to an attorney about this before making any kind of decision. You are indeed in a tough spot OP, but remember, what she thinks is "fair" should not play a role in your decision making process. You need legal and financial advice ASAP. Most divorce attorneys will give you a general idea of how you should proceed during an initial consultation, which is often free. | 6 | Men...There is Life After DeathI was head over heels, butterflies in the stomach, first time I felt "real love," etc with my first post divorce relationship (6 mo after separating with my ex wife). I don't regret it, and it was a lot of fun, but looking back I can see the relationship for what it really was (or wasn't). We were both rebounding with each other after very recent, traumatic divorces. | 3 | Can’t believe I’m hereI didn't have to read past her having a "friend." It was the same in my case. I don't mean to sound harsh, but you cannot avoid the inevitable. She no longer wants to be in the marriage, and no amount of "working on things" will change that. Count your losses and do financial damage control if at all possible. Consult an attorney immediately. It's a horrible reality to face, and I understand how devastated and distraught you feel. But it's time for you to go into self-protection mode. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/04/23 08:08 PM |

Ex finally popped up on online datingAbout a year or so after the separation I saw her profile come up on an app. The kicker was it said we were a 98 % match! I will say it was weirdly off-putting to see her trying to present herself as "sexy" in a couple of her pics. Not in a jealous type of way, but more because I just knew that wasn't the real her at all. Her profile description was the best though, it was full of "nos," like what she's not looking for in a man (basically a description of me lol). More than likely he will tire of her and move on (6 mo or so probably), she will end up alone and miserable, and you will be thankful you are on own. That's not always true of course, but either way speak to an attorney asap if you haven't already. Good luck OP. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/01/23 01:55 PM

At age 6, your child will remember how you both handle the situation. As both a divorced father and child of divorce (at about the same age your child), I know that parents badmouthing each other to children has long term effects. | 7 | Divorce ImminentYes, please retain an attorney immediately! You are too emotional to make sound decisions and in a divorce anything and everything can be used against you. Good luck, it will get better, just focus on getting yourself organized. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/11/20 04:03 PM |
The worst time of the week...I find the opposite to be true. Sunday is my day to get things done around the house and get ready for the next week. Cleaning or otherwise being productive is a great distraction, I focus only on the task at hand. But hey, I hear ya. Seperated almost 2 years, had one relationship during that time and now back to being on my own. It's been a difficult adjustment. There are also times though (like this weekend for me), that I love having no one to answer to. I think we all go back and forth. Good… | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/11/20 04:28 PM
Was about to file but heard wife wants toMy attorney advised me to file ASAP, even though I knew she was planning on doing it soon. I am in TX. Yes, I had to pay the filing fees, but it also gave me a level of control on how things proceeded. Feel free to DM me for specifics. I'm glad I took my attorney's advise, I'll just say that. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/10/20 06:21 PM
Using Tinder. (NY)Since the process has started (filing), I say do the safe thing. Delete your profile and any texts, and just wait it out. I know it sucks, I've been there, but that feeling of guilt/paranoia is not worth it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/10/20 12:26 AM
A better ManSounds very similar to my story. I knew the marriage was dissolving but I was determined to save it, she was not. The thing about it is, I didn't realize how truly miserable, angry and depressed I was until I was about 6 months out. Now I look back on my life then and can't imagine how I existed like that. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/08/20 01:02 PM
Talking to Son About DivorceThis is solid advise. | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/08/20 04:15 PM
Public PerceptionYou shouldn't worry what the neighbors think anyway. Also, they probably think she's crazy too. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/08/20 01:07 PM

Feeling some anxiety, which can only lead to Performance induced ED and other bad thing. Tips?!Stop over thinking it! I understand how you are feeling, but believe me, when things get going, all worry will disappear. Have fun man, you deserve it! | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/08/20 03:12 PM |
The Conversation Happened Last NightSorry to hear you are going through this. The best advice I can give you is, get a lawyer, do not leave the marital home, and settle for nothing less than 50/50 custody (despite the child care situation). This divorce may bankrupt you, but nothing is more important than your child. It is very difficult to change the custody once it has been agreed upon. Do not talk to her about anything regarding the divorce until you retain an attorney. Good luck. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/07/20 06:35 PM
Visitation Schedule Change Request Denied by STBXWI wouldn't bring the pinching up to her, it's not likely she'd just agree & stop, right? Document everything down to the last detail (who said what, date/time). It will be really tough without an attorney... | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/07/20 04:44 PM
STBX Called CPS On Me!Unless they close the case immediately, get an attorney. Trust me. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/07/20 01:03 PM
Moving forward. Coming to so many realizationsThank you for that clarification. I'm not familiar with the 12 step process at all. Tbh, I really don't want to hear anything from her (though I'll admit it would have been very gratifying early on), but she is the mother of my child and I do want a positive relationship with her for my son's sake. But you are entirely right, it's not my problem. I'll let her do her thing if it helps her be a better mother. | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/07/20 04:50 PM
Moving forward. Coming to so many realizationsThis is my fear. My ex recently told me she wants to make "amends" to me (she's in various 12 step programs). I always suspected she was cheating, but now, a year later, I honestly don't care, and if she was, I don't want to hear about it. I'm waiting on the court to sign off on the final decree, so I politely told her I'd rather wait until it's actually finalized. Even once it is I'll just tell her I don't need her "amends." | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/07/20 01:56 PM
She is having a bad day so she canceled our Mediation appointment this morning! This is good advice. | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/07/20 01:01 PM
She is having a bad day so she canceled our Mediation appointment this morning!I agree and disagree. Take the high road morally, but do not compromise your position! But, I 1000% agree DO NOT ENGAGE!!! This mentality will serve you well. Of course, document everything and consult your attorney before any kind of divorce related communication. If you have kids, text/email only about them logistically. If you don't, then I highly advise no communication without attorney consultation. Good Luck! | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/07/20 01:29 AM
Where to sell my ring?Good call. I sold mine to one of those "we buy gold" places. Think I got about an eighth of what it cost. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/05/20 10:15 PM
STBX says she wants to give up custody and move out of state. Could she be up to something else?I would consider yourself lucky that she's willing to leave the state and let you have primary custody! Of course she could be up to something too, you know her. My attorney once said about my ex's intentions..."if it looks like a skunk, smells like a skunk..." Do you have an attorney? I've learned that it's always best (but expensive) to consult with them before agreeing to anything. Good luck, I hope you end up with custody and she just leaves. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/05/20 04:47 PM
Everything feels ruinedI know exactly how you feel. It hit me especially with TV series we watched together. I found that it was easier to just move on from those shows. I'm a year in and can barely watch/enjoy Downton Abbey (I know, I know lol, but I loved that show!). And like everyone else has said, time is the only real healer for stuff like this. You will eventually find you can enjoy those things again, but this time as your own person. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/04/20 06:18 PM
(Texas)... wife is a severe narcissistic sociopath, probably Bi polar and is a horrible mother who abuses, neglects and is dangerous with my children... please read and help.....!!!Lawyer up ASAP and take their advise about whether or not to contact CPS. Also, try not to let her find out that you're getting legal advice. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/04/20 06:13 PM
(Texas)... wife is a severe narcissistic sociopath, probably Bi polar and is a horrible mother who abuses, neglects and is dangerous with my children... please read and help.....!!!I would advise against getting CPS involved unless absolutely necessary. Once they are involved they will never leave your life, and you will be investigated fully as well. I'm not saying you are doing anything wrong, but that will be up to the state once they get involved. I am in TX also and was in a somewhat similar situation. OP, dm me if you want more details. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/04/20 06:09 PM
How to proceed?I agree with your theory. Same thing happened to me, stbx was 38. Whoever she was cheating with dropped her a couple months after the seperation, now she is miserable and lives with her mother. Meanwhile, I'm out on my own, have a new girlfriend and 50/50 custody. The grass isn't always greener. OP, I know it's hard to imagine, but a year from now you will realize she did you a favor. Hang in there. | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/04/20 12:43 PM
Weird feelingGood point about the bed. I almost considered taking the marital bed but then came to my senses. Ended up sleeping on the floor/air mattress for a few months before I was able to afford a new bed, but I'm so glad I didn't take it. It was also very therapeutic to throw out all the towels and sheets we had ever used together. It's a slow process rebuilding your life from scratch, but it's also very rewarding. Good luck, it will get better, I promise! | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/02/20 01:59 AM
Valentine's Day with a new personSo true! I was actually excited to get flowers and candy for my new love today. It's amazing how good it feels to have someone actually want to be with you! | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/02/20 01:44 AM
