If it helps, once that child support dries up she will be in financial ruin because she will have to drastically reduce her quality of life but will be unwilling.

Say that you’ll take it to court and petition to the judge that in the best interests of the children you’d like to keep the house. You can argue that money will be saved by just paying her out. You just have to refinance again with the additional amount. A judge will like this idea because it’s stability for the children. Since she doesn’t have the means to buy you out, someone has to do it. Splitting the house for the sake of it won’t sit well with a judge, they are focused on the kids general…

I paid ex to quick claim the deed to me. Didn’t have a ton of equity so buying out was smart. Then the house market skyrocketed a year later.

Lol I don’t know why someone downvoted you, but it is funny when reality strikes.

You might just have to buy her out. Buying her out is the best thing to do, maintaining the house the kids are used to and keeping it yourself gives you a huge advantage in a lot of ways such as school.

The happier you decide to let yourself be the quicker she will lose her mind.

Play the long game, be super nice and accommodating. The new guy will get tired of being a full time dad for someone else’s kid. He may eventually pressure her to go 50/50 in the future. Make the appearance of being supportive, to the point of even being joyful for the situation. Even befriend the guy is he ends up sticking around for a long time. Then consider going out to lunch with him sometime to get to know him. After a good long while, drop the idea of taking the kids or offering to watch …

It’s a bad idea if you ever plan on meeting another woman. Women have an impossibly difficult time with handling former connections (of yours, emphasis on yours) and likely would react negatively without a disconnection from your former life.

Ignore or go business professional. Business professional: “Good evening, thank you for the update, I am sorry you are having difficulty with [name]. I support your choice to enforce your own home rules as you see fit. However if you would like to coordinate console rules to establish consistency you are welcome to establish the same rule we have over here. [short rule based on common sense]. Thank you” Turn it into an opportunity to show she is a struggling parent and you are willing to share y…

This is a mirror image of my ex. Her lawyer and friends promised her the world then went as far to promise her that’d end up homeless and living under a bridge. (I was privy to the text messages groups with her friends) Years later, she’s barely making ends meet, I moved on, met someone great, no CS, no alimony, 50% custody, kept house, etc. Now she’s just bitter and a HCBM. Constantly trying to reclaim even a portion of what she was promised. If she has second thoughts, I don’t really care eith…

This Covid stuff has been a field day for narcissist HCBMs to exert power even when it directly hurts children. I’m hoping I can atleast show that the parenting plan is being defied rather than take COVID fears head on. Just illustrate that the plan says if no agreement reached then trust a medical professional. It seems like roulette judging on how it could go. I’m thinking of involving a truancy officer.

Haha you’re not wrong. I do have a video of her losing her shit on my door step in front of the kids. Lol family court is a clown show.

Thanks for the advice. Because the parenting plan stated that communication will be via email I’ve enforced that strictly. No calls, no texts, only email. I’m not worried about getting the money back, more to try to illustrate that HCBM is resistant to coparenting and the refusal to coordinate is detrimental to the children which should mean that 50/50 is detrimental to the children. HCBM is very narcissistic so will be contrarian in everything and classically does not think rules apply to her, …

It’s wild to realize how when it comes down to brass tacks that the children aren’t what matters to these types. Just their narcissistic rage. Stay cool and do the right thing for your kids! Life gets better, I promise.

It’s weird how I frequently hear HCBMs using the same tactics, I’m not sure if it’s nature, narcissism or if they all talk to each other. I eventually found out my ex was being coached by a group of bitter divorcees and bored stay-at-homes. They even would pool money to cover each other’s lawyer costs. Really just hurts the children. Don’t get wrapped up in petty stuff she will do too much, they will often do lots of small petty things that can be annoying but if you call them out on it they wil…

Sorry you have to deal with this, they hate the record keeping and having things in writing. Just stay calm and friendly, do everything to appear as reasonable and consistent as possible. I’d advise getting a camera to record transfers too. Avoid meeting alone, she will start to accuse you of assaulting her or abusing the children. Try to keep communication in 100% writing. You may also find that her tactics and behavior change over time and may seem out of character. These types tend to army bu…

Remember, you’re their father, she’s doing this because she’s a bad person and she will raise them to be failures and narcissists in life. You may think there’s a history and you want to have mercy, but you are duty bound not to let toxic HCBMs win in their plans. It’s perpetuates a system your children will suffer from when they are older. Your ex is your enemy now. But with that, always always always be calm cool professional, friendly but firm. She will escalate, but you’re on a mission to ge…

Just respond kindly: “Good afternoon, thank you for reaching out, the children are doing wonderful. We just had a great lunch together and a fun day ahead. If there’s is anything we need to communicate to you, it will be done in writing. Please respectfully allow us to enjoy our time together.” She will escalate bc these HCBM types can’t take no, so then you draw a line “hello, I can assure you the children are doing great and are happy, fed and loved. Please do not continue to send messages or …

You may not want to ruin her, but once you don’t give her everything she wants and maybe a little more to show submission, she will try to ruin you. Get your head straight and realize this person is not your friend during divorce negotiations.

I in no way support taking half of someone else’s stuff. Man or woman. But I feel like these situations are duty bound in order to reset society. It’s sad but necessary for women to get cleaned out legally in order for the balances and archaic laws to readjust.

Exactly, these types feel entitled to abusing you. Family court is a joke and enforcement is laughable. Enforcement is also expensive and selective.

Yes on 50/50 necessary medical expenses. But electronics, sports and such should be no or on per item basis if you really want it, try to keep it out of the decree though. 100% no on childcare too. Sharing childcare costs is for married people. Also keep in mind if you meet a new partner, all these shared things will become a problem and it’s unfair for the new person in your life. Shared costs are always an avenue of abuse, you may think you’re saving money but it’s just control for her. It’s i…

Control. Control. Control. That’s all it’s about.

It’s about control. Try to get rid of things like right of first refusal. Also, talk to your lawyer about things you can agree too but not have to actually abide by bc they are unenforceable. This is the last chance she will have this much control over you. It’s the life force of HCBM, get through this and then you’ll have even more ability to reduce her control.

Stay strong, fight for your son and crush her in court. It’s insulting she wants more than 50%. If you roll over and give her what she wants it perpetuates a broken system of female entitlement that your son will be subjected to when he is an adult. It has to stop someplace.

Right but being left alone doesn’t = control and attention for them so it must be eliminated.

Remember that women want control more than anything, co parenting to them means controlling your time and money, but independence for them. This person during divorce and after will be your enemy. She broke your family, your family is you and your child now. Do everything you can for the child, try for 100% custody. It’s hard to swallow but just get to where you’ll end up after years of frustration “coparenting”.

Great advice. It’s a battle of the most rational when things hit the court and it should be a goal to do everything in your power to illuminate the irrationality of the ex. These cameras can also be helpful to remind yourself to be rational too, in some cases the ex will do everything in her power to taunt or goad you into a physical altercation, never ever ever get sucked into this this. Quiet, rational, business professionalism at all times. Save the fight for the court. To reinforce this, whe…
