I will say, don't completely write off dating apps. You may have to slog through the slop, but I met my fiance who is an amazing traditional man with a desire to provide for me and our family on Hinge. Of course, we matched during the pandemic, so that could have played a factor of more quality man on the app, but I know a friend who also met her now husband (that homesteads with her and supports her) through Tinder (of all places!). I understand the desire to meet organically, but it's like the…

I don't even know how to respond to that, honestly. I'm sorry because I'm sure that was a traumatic loss, but also I'm happy you were able to leave that situation.

So real. A main reason one of my relationship must-haves was an ambitious man.

A good contribution! The barrier to entry for things like DoorDash are so low. A man who doesn't work but can def doesn't want to.

Exactly true, and thank you very much for the congratulations! We're very happy and excited for our future together.

My unprofessional opinion is not that he misses you. It's that he wants to be the one to leave you not you leave him. He was more than ok breaking up before it is only now that you seem ok with the idea that he is "trying". He doesn't want to be dumped. That's it. It would hurt his ego as opposed to him leaving you. Cut yourr loses. He's told you what he truly feels. All that's left is for you to believe him. Coming from someone whose first answer is NEVER "leave him."

Sage advice again! This past week I have really been pushing this. And he's treated me so so well even while I'm doing my best to be a good co-captain. I feel like our bond has gotten stronger. I just got into sourdough too so the home always smells yummy now!

Thank you. I have been making dinner when he doesn't want to (he loves to cook as a stress reducer). And even when he does cook I've been cleaning the whole kitchen every night no matter what (its currently our only space that is completely unpacked). And he is so grateful every day! Everyone's advice here has been amazing.

I think your "advising" in bad faith and seeing her husband in a poor light on purpose (based on your two comment threads). "Choose whatever you want." Doesn't have to mean avoidance. It could very well be a desire to make his wife happy. Which is how I took it.

I completely understand. I reccommend YouTube videos about the gift of recieving, journaling, and also the phrase "Loving myself does not mean disliking you." Has helped me TONS. Sometimes I fear I'm taking advantage or being concided, but even if there is slight overcoreection, good morals can keep that in check. A good co-captain also knows how to recieve! I hope this helps ♡

Thank you for this. I sometimes need a little shake. I do work, but I work from home so taking care of things is really easy for me to do. I will absolutely do this. I tend to be a pessimist these days, but this is a good chance to be more positive. There are always things to be grateful for.

Seems like a vent, but I'd say if he says that it is ok trust him :) I have similar issues. I was raised in what I call a modern traditional household. My mom worked and my dad stayed home with us. I witnessed how this dynamic doesnt work and I was raised by an independent woman type. Meaning when I met my BF who wants to provide for me and take care of me (his words) it is still hard for me to accept it. I'm having to slowly learn new things and unlearn how I was raised to accept even when he c…

Wifey things depend on the relationship as do so many other things IMO. For me, he knows my boundaries. Something as simple as I'm not making his doctor appointments for him (he joked about it and I said "I'm not your wife.") Or as big as I WILL NOT buy a house with a man that isn't my husband. So it really just depends on your boundaries for what you deem wifely. Personally, I think the typical list is only one idea and doesn't encompass all ideas. If you live with roommates you'd clean the kit…

I think you may be right here. Which I think is silly because without the habits and behavior a person is just cosplaying a feminine woman and it falls apart at the slightest rip in your pantyhose. Kind of like the tradwife trend.

I think regreting not hooking up isn't something that would be sympathized with here. Sleeping around is in direct opposition of what RPW endorses as far as I'm aware. To answer personally: I've never regretted rejecting or not sleeping with someone no matter how hot they may be.

Oh! I didn't even think of that. Hm, I find that strange since people mention divine feminine spirituality and that's fine. I guess acceptance ends at a point.

Yes, absolutely! And it's ok, I get caught up in old habits still. Maybe more often than I'd like to admit. Honeatly, all I do these days is surrond myself with other influences that are lady-like (social media, friends, etc.) I was raised taking etiquette classes etc. But rebeled in my teens/young twenties. So I'd guess maybe watch videos about etiquette? I hope this helps!

This is exactly what I would say. Including: Don't match his mood, set the tone. If he had a bad day and you did not, after giving him his cool down time from getting home don't match his somber. Maintain your mood and he'll meet you there when he's ready. Also, give him his timw when he gets home. I always greet my guy when he geets home if it's before 10:30 PM...then I leave him alone. He is always grateful to decompress and he always comes and finds me after 5 minutes or less. I recently hear…

My real life experience has not been this. The men in my life are standup men. Some of traditional values some of modern values. All respectful. I know a well earning business owner that loves his wife and children. Respects and dotes on them. I was raised by a respected and respectful man. My boyfriend is raised by traditional conservitives and he is again, amazing sweet kind and respectful. I think this is a matter of cultivating what you watch/consume and who you surrond yourself with. If you…

I would recommend The Queen's Code by Alison A. Armstrong. I've read this book yearly everybwinter and every reread I remember something or impliment something new and my guy is always happy (and so is our relationship) when I do. I often get more "I was thinkinking of you" gifts and more quality time and "quality time" as a result. I love this book.

I would say I find other men attractive but I'm not ATTRACTED to them. Half the time I see some guy that I see as attractive my mind somehow loops it back to my guy? If he has a beard? Reminds me of my captain. If he has work boots on? If he put a grocery cart away? I always joke any attractive and nice man my mind always goes "Wow he reminds me of [captain]." It's quite funny.

It depends. And take this with a grain of salt because I still am assumed a high schooler at 28. I think it's less creepy men who are interested. The predatory type. However when it comes tk good members of society and drivers of culture? Invisible hasnt been my case. Elderly and middle aged women and gentlemen compliment me and do nice things for me. I judge...it's gotten to a point where I have to say I don't like him with you. They adore my relationship yet hang on to....I hate to say this, but losers, and hope for him to metamorphasize into a captain. I try being nice by saying, is this who you want to be the father of your children. That doesn't work. So now I just say...he's not right for you. Point blank.

That's not it at all. Women and men balance each other out. He is focuses on accomplishing what he can outside our home. So, if I can have dinner made when he gets home exhausted from dealing with the world that would be seen as a blessing, not a discredit on his capabilities. The proof is in his gratitude. Do you have a different experience?

We discussed our timeline at the start of our relationship. Mine was 2 years. His was 3. (Both our previous relationships ended in not fun ways). Of course, we were younger. I told him if we aren't engaged by the end of next year we should probably break up. He agrees. However I happen to know an engagement is happening soon. The point: communicate. Don't opperate on "he should know this." If you want to be on his ship, communicate with the pilot well.

Oh I heard this. I met my boyfriend of 3.5 years OLD. We talked about his experience and I was baffled. A woman "keeping her options open." Women catfishing they're apperances. Women demanding he pay for everything and "treat them like a queen." Now, my bf DOES treat me like the most precious gem in the world, but I didn't demand it. He is also a natural leader but relaxed and stoic. When no one in the room can make a decision he naturally hops in. When someone drops something at the store he he…

Oh and to answer the dynamic question, yes but not by much. My income will take care of things like my medical expenses and personal expenses. But we now know he likes to take care of me. So I'm going to let him. The good part is I don't NEED to rely on him, I just let him take charge because we both like it. It's a better dynamic I think. Plus I like a little money so I can surprise him and spoil him too!

Because we want a house and living in the US with only him being self employed us getting a loan would be next to impossible (we tried a year ago, so we know this). I'm getting a job and we're getting an apartment so when we're married we have a better chance of getting a house (marriage plus someone with a W2). Plus my job is WFH so I'm still able to do what I want. Plus plus a little extra cushion doesn't hurt. Sex and money issues are number one causes of divorce. With such a high divorce rat…

The game goes: I make this move. He does this in return. I say this phrase. He does this to get the result I want. That's a game. Chess even. Saying you should keep your options open, thus a HVM will secure you....that's a game. At least in my eyes. I could be seeing ot wrong so I'm open to more information. I say don't play games. Every relationship starts out with a man you've met once. I think it to be jaded to discard these feelings based on superficial factors like you describe. Men have known the woman they want to marry after one meeting plenty times before. I'm not saying this is the case. I'm also not saying that's NOT the case.

Hm I don't think the date is where the interest is shown. It's the strive to have another, the deleting of dating profile, the confirmation of reciprocated feelings. I think that is clear interest. This is the "girl game" I said I don't participate in or want to. I more believe in investing in one person at a time. I'll be clear, I've experienced my fair share of heart break with this motto. However, my current relationship is one of beauty, love, and respect. If I were to play this game at the …

Sorry to interject, but wouldn't putting herself first include her feelings. If she feels it wrong to date others...wouldn't doing it just to fulfill a narrative of "attractive single free loved" woman cause anxiety and discomfort? If she were someone who sees no issue in continuing to date that'd be different...I'd still disagree but the situation would be changed.

Always the second option. You've even expressed yourself that you don't want to date others. Imagine things do work out, and he learns while he is all in and deleting his dating profile, etc. You were out with other guys. He'd see it as a red flag. I'm an optimistic realist myself. He's shown clear interest in you. He isn't faking sickness since he even had to postpone a flight because of his issue. Time won't always be perfect. We have to make the best of it. I agree with what someone said here about him needing targeted therapy to work through his personal issues. However, that is something he will have to choose to pursue on his own, or I fear he'd resent you for suggesting and pushing something he sees through love and not hurt. How lovely that you have the urge to make his life easier. Continue to pursue that urge, and I think you will get confirmation and admiration just as you did as you wrote this post. My advice is similar to what I do to make life for my man easier. Make him meals. Figure our what his favorite ones that you make are. Surprise him with a romantic evening. You've voiced your own discomfort. Which is amazing and takes such vulnerability. Especially when you fear being "that controlling girlfriend." Have you asked him why he wants to stay her friend? From a space that is not judgemental but curious. I believe if there was clarity on the why, that would ease your discomfort and make moving forward easier. Then he knows where you stand, and you completely know his reason why. You should only make decisions after that point, in my opinion.

I'm latching on to the "you're great" as a compliment, so thank you haha! Jokes aside, I definitely agree that a woman can't never work to be a better woman, partner, confidant, friend and expect a man to get down on one knee. It is an equal give and take in any healthy relationship. Especially in the since of our different strengths. I think it's important for women to work towards improvement constantly. Definitely, and very well thought out points made here. That begs the question, when do you stop vetting? Maybe not until you are married. A man who has not proposed or has not discussed the proposal or even stuck to an agreement in regards to marriage...did he fail? Do you get out as soon as possible? At what point do us as women decide to inspire this commitment. I do believe that's possible as well...it's all so gray so I think discussing this is helping me understand, so thank you.

I agree that a man does not need one project to be generalized as a single-focused person. I see it this way, a man with many incomes, side hustles, projects, etc. Is still single-focused. His single focus is to be wealthy. Or to be successful. Having more than one avenue to reach that focus doesn't change that. However, rarely do you find a man who has his success mindset while also pursuing his idk, let's say healthy food choices. They often just get take out or microwave meals. Actually, this…

This is absolutely beautifully put from this highlight and does marry two ideas I believe very well. The idea of women inspiring feelings in men and men being committed to women. Do you think it's fair to judge a man's character and worthiness of inspiration based on his commitments elsewhere in life?

Thank you for linking that post! I skimmed it briefly, and I plan to go back and read it more thoroughly. Overall, I think that's a very fair way to "test the waters." Personally, I still value a man who is committed to things outside of our relationship and honors those commitments. I wouldn't be attracted to someone who is constantly flaking on his friends or doesn't do things for his own self care. It's unbalanced. Why am I the only thing you can commit to? It's flattering at first but unsett…

Ah yes, that is a fair point. That's what I wanted insight on (your ETA). In which case is it a trial and error to observe how committed a man is to you/the relationship? And if so, how long is that trial? I'm open to the idea of it being based on individuals but wonder if there is a general hard cut in your mind?

Observing single-focus led me to the conclusion, but it is not the focus. I was illustrating the journey my thought train went on, so sorry if that was confusing. The focus is on a man's commitment and observing this before deciding to go all in. Does my thought read more clearly now?

I am making him a basket full of homemade sweet treats that he loves. I'm going to wrap them each individually and put a custom designed sticker on them all. I have a cricut and am a designer. I think you may have a skewed perception of men. My father was traditionally masculine. My ex-boyfriend and current boyfriend are traditionally masculine. Just because the loud minority is toxic doesn't mean most men are. And if you're with a toxic man, you haven't vetted properly. Same as how not all women are manipulative bitches. Just the self-centered uncaring ones. But knowing that doesn't cause you to say most women only care about a check and don't value fathers when raising children... I…

I am a person who is on social media a lot. Both for my business and for my personal brand. I use it as a tool though, not as a vice or escape. In using it as a tool I also curate who it is I follow and what I see. So I'm not seeing the girls from high school that are on their 5th baby daddy and doing OF on the side. I see happily married women with families who value their partners and children. I see yoga flow tutorials and videos that inspire me to get up and move. I see beautiful views with …

This, this, this. We are more than our base reactions. (At least I hope so!)

I think this has been established already, but I'll reiterate. Things like direction, vision, and ability will attract you to a man, yes. But love and loyalty is what changes your man from any other man in the room. Heck in the world. I think love is a powerful thing that really alters perception. I knew I was deep in love with my man when even celebrity crushes didn't seem as appealing. I mean I love me some Elijah Wood, but choosing between him and my man who cherishes and values me and is the…

This is my opinion, but I believe once there has been a sexual aspect of the relationship, it is so difficult, near impossible, to keep a platonic relationship. I'm not saying it hasn't happened before, but the chances are so slim. For many different reasons, including the one you just listed here. As a woman who has had a situation like this, I always held on to hope that maybe one day he'd be healed and we'd be together. If I hang out with him, eventually, he'll fall for me. Not healthy. I say…

This is such a good point and a so important to remember. Yes, you want a capable man. And, yes he wants a capable woman.

I think this is totally fine. We are still feeling the effects of third-wave feminism where "all men are bad." & "we don't need men." But, I think if you choose the right man (emphasisi on right man), it is easy and even comforting to lean on him. After all, he wants to help and provide and be of service to you. He wants what you want and takes you into consideration. You trust your boss to lead your company... why not trust your man to lead your relationship.

I think you make valid points, but I also think you mistook some of what I said. Of course, women should stand up for themselves, and of course, a relationship is a team effort. I did establish in my post that a woman should stand up for herself and her feelings and be rigid about certain boundaries and needs. However, yielding to your man doesn't necessarily mean submitting and being spineless with no opinion (being a "yes, dear". No man worth respecting wants a pushover woman). It's a trust th…

I asked my boyfriend, and he said establishing importance and stating a challenge or solution is also a good route. Something like "Hey, I know before we talked about you leaving your shoes at the door. I trust that you are capable, so how can I help you remember, or what can we do to help you remember to do that?" (A very man way to answer, I think, but what better source than from the horse's mouth).

Just thinking out loud here, but I think nagging is more of the consistent commands without having any depth to it. "Take your shoes off" or "Do I have to keep telling you to take your shoes off?" Is different than giving a man a reason why it's important to you and how it would help you (from my understanding, our men WANT to help us so if you give them a reason they will remember and act according to that). So saying something like "I love making our house a home. Keeping clean floors is apart…

Yes, I've come to find this true. I had it explained to me like batteries. You can't put two (+) (+) together. It must be (-) (+). It's a polarity that brings balance in a relationship.

I think the whole idea of "proving your attraction" is dull. If I decided to go on a date with you, there is obviously some initial attraction. Sex should not be something that is freely given to all the guys you find hot. It is something earned through a build of trust, love, and desire. These things are things that build over time. Not after one date.

I think this is much better put! I think how I said it is a little bit arrogant, but how you said it is much more in a space of gracious gratefulness.

I really admire my boyfriend's problem solving. Whenever a situation arises and I don't know what to do he asks me "Do you want someone to listen to your problems or someone to solve your problems." I pick solve everytime and he always has insights and solutions that I appreciate every time. He's so smart and I trust him to lead in our relationship. It's refreshing!

I think going through and declittering is a good idea. I have a lot of things from my college days and time out of state that I no longer need.

My man is a morning person. I am very much not one, but we've made a commitment to waking up early to start our days. He knows that mornings are hard for me though so he'll bring me a glass of water, a cup of coffee, or even just give me encouraging words that help me stick to the goal of having an active morning routine. It's small, but it reminds me that he loves me and also makes my goals his goals. (:

My boyfriend is actually almost a year younger than I am and I still find myself being submissive to him and following his lead. I truly believe that age doesn't matter. It's about the person. My boyfriend is naturally dominant and a leader. It's easy to submit to someone when you know they are fit to lead and trust their decision making. When something is innate something as simple as age doesn't change that. I'm open to hearing other opinions though because I have just one point of view.

He's my boyfriend, and I trust his judgment without question. I know he wouldn't do something or suggest me to do something without thinking it through and in 20 different ways. He also sees things in a way that I can't. So because of this, if things get difficult I will tell him "I trust your decision" and truly believe that.

Yes, exactly! When I brought it up to him that I do that he immediately started doing it too. Some (very tired) nights he even reminds me to acknowledge my favorite part of the day. :)

It's my boyfriend and my first Valentine's Day together. I was going to get us matching underwear but I didn't like any of the prints sooooo I got some underwear with my face on them for him! I thought it's funny and cute. He's planned a whole day for us and I'm very excited to see what he has planned! Even more excited for him to see the lingerie I bought for that evening. I guess you can say that's another little gift?

I'm not married or engaged but I do have past trauma that has kept me from being my best self. For myself and for my partner. Now I don't know what your past trauma is but my number one tip is to forgive yourself. The past is done and nothing can change that no matter how bad you wish for it. Forgive yourself, and let the situation go. I'd also suggest buying a journal. There are a lot of prompts you can search for online that help you work through your past trauma so you can get to a point wher…
