Ok, so here's the situation as I see it (my input comes as a divorced father of 2, married technically 20+ years, separated the last 5-6 as the divorce dragged out): You have no kids. Married only two years. She made false allegations that meeted very little positive for herm restraining order in place, only major loss is the shared faith community. She and her family seemingly lied, according to your post, so her family is just enabling and toxic, ergo not worth your time anymore. Just take a d…

You are 100% right. I misread divorce_women as divorced_men. I apologize for the mix up. Totally my fault. Please disregard previous entry and have an awesome night!

Soooooo, just to be clear. 🤔🤔🤔 You say you try to avoid, keyword here, "negative" places... Yet you took the time to type this out, post, and are actively responding, in a place you yourself even seem pr state is "horrendous"... Are you AI, or just...I dunno, silly?

Ok OP, let me rip the bandaid off here. It's gonna be a tad harsh, thems the breaks homie. 1 - she isn't coming back, stop worrying, thinking, reminiscing, whatever this is. (I know you had good intentions with the question, but you're still hung up on her, and that's ok I suppose. Honestly, the woman you loved and married? She died. You're left with the ghoul of a zombie harpy lady who was so selfish and hurtful, she ended a marriage for "free time"...? Really?) 2 - you deserve better than how …

No, I am in fact, not "nice". A good person? I like to think so. A good father? Absolutely. A decent human being to those around me? I do my best. And might a remind you, I don't have to go from a random reddit post from someone, to stalking their activity online, and then continue trolling trying to get a reaction. Boy howdy your life must be dull, or you're just a spiteful nasty person, which explain why you can't handle when big mean men use the hurtful words that make you feel fees go cry cr…

I do have intentions of getting my passport and traveling, maybe visit Scotland with my kids when my youngest graduates from high school in 2030 and my eldest is finishing her 4 year run in the Marines...but between now and then my focus is on me and him. Mainly.

All fair brother. I was mad, angry, hurt, pissed, and severely, SEVERELY depressed...for nearly 18 months or so. I then began more in-depth breakdowns with my therapist, meditation, sleep, reading, etc. I recently recovered from a mild stroke, at 42 of all ages, and can't reengage with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, which was a huge therapy release for me. Once I'm cleared, medically? I'll be getting back on that mat for that therapy. That helped tremendously.

I stopped about 2-3 months after we separated, during the first year of separation, while paperwork was being filed, and have devil ed to referring to her as "the NPC" to most, or "your mom" to my kids. They can't stand her, but I try to be kind. Even if she doesn't deserve it.

Probably not a good idea...

Great to hear man. Stay strong for your daughter, but let you STBXW hang herself by the rope she wove together for this. And don't back down. She showed her true colors and said divorce first. Stick with her original manipulation point. It is hard, but you're doing great.

You're separated, I'm assuming you're going to divorce, and I'd also assume, that she instigated it? I'd also wager that you're not going on trips with the kids with a supposed third party. Who and whom you're with, if you're walking down this path without her, means that she has absolutely no control over it; and none of her damned business, frankly. Worry about yourself, your kids, and your life moving forward. If nosey nessie (your STBEW), doesn't like it? Tuff. Thems the breaks. When you dec…

🤔🤔🤔 I'd just go live my life at this point. Just stop caring, she obviously has, right? If she has lost love for you? Then that's a her problem. Sounds like you're a good father, tried to embe a good husband, and she lost the plot somewhere. I'd cut her pretty much out of my life, live for myself and my sons, keep loving them. Don't just totally shut down, but you need to live your life for you... If she realizes she's cut off from the access she has neglected, maybe she'll leave... However, I w…

Exactly. Don't water dead plants, or plants in a broken pot, a massive waste of time. From my own experience? When I mentioned counseling and she flatly refused? Less than a week after she told me about the affair? Then planned to run out to see this fool again? I should've just let her run, kept the kids, changed the locks, filed for full custody, and sued her for abandoning the marriage and our family. I wanted us to work, I mean over 18+ years together, two kids, and a house? I thought we mea…

Having space to say your peace makes sense I suppose.... however prearranged and over 20+ minutes? Seems like an attack, especially if all she is doing is throwing you under the bus.

Well put good sir and a fair and balanced response. I know I might've come off harsh, tis my gallows humor and hardheadedness that makes me want to not berate; to use words in a manner that puts the reality of the consequences of those actions to bit of a brutally honest point. I have talked a few friends off that ledge, battles and civvies. I was even the nexus for saving a dear friend who had hit a low point, made a vague and troubling post (when I barely even knew him) I'm a FB group we belon…

First: if you have children, then you don't get to rob them of a parent. Period. Second: as bad as it may seem, a permanent solution to a temporary problem, is absolutely never the answer. Having had those thoughts myself, for many and varied reasons, I know that "logic". (Frankly, you're selfish if you do that. I know people suffer. I know there's an excuse someone makes to ease their own hurt, but if you're that selfish IMO: you're an asshole.) Third: there are so many, many, many angles of he…

Keep your kids mental and physical safety at the forefront. Period. If mom can't handle her booze, then let the system run it's course. You don't owe her anything. You, as a father, owe you child safety, security, and stability. If mom can't add to that or provide it? Then her actions have consequences. Period. You're not her friend anymore. Remove emotion as much as you can, and be logical.

Welp, thems the breaks I guess. Leave the "birds of a feather to flock together" and just make sure you're nowhere near their flight path to get covered by their BS as they take off, into their next "adventure"...

Brother, I can't explain how awkward reading your statement of the situation made me, and I wasn't even there. So, for you? 10/10 for you for not engaging. Mature, smart, and tactful move. I wouldn't even engage the desire for her to "meet" your new gal. Like why? We can be cordial for the kids sake, and that's about as far as it goes. As a husband who was betrayed by a cheating wife, I fully get your position. If she's with the "new guy", who also happens to be the "Pogo stick" she bounced on t…
