Been there sleeping on a concrete basement floor. It was the beginning of a great life. I begged her to stay and the best gift I ever got was her saying no. PUSH FORWARD YOU CAN DO THIS

Freedom. A man can just taste it in the air sometimes. Congratulations

It’s been a ride. Harder financially for sure, but the boys and I have a great relationship. And peace. Not trying to paint with too wide of brush. But when these women are raised as a princess from birth a working man don’t have a chance

I farm and am self employed too. Cut my hours back and did more with the kids. Got 50/50 and she tried EVERYTHING. Stick to that plan and execute. Just keep reinstating your kids have always been more important than work and you are willing to sacrifice hours for them and you got it
/r/Divorce_Men15/03/23 01:48 AM

Just make sure your hours can be flexible to take care of the kids and get your 50/50. Literally just did 4 years of this

It will mean nothing in court. Just lived this. She recorded 100’s of tapes for nothing

It did the same to me for a long time. I still miss them when they are with their mom, but the time together without her influence is priceless. Kids see through anything. Be good to them and it will all work out

4 years later my boys and I are closer than we ever were. It was a GIFT. You got this
/r/Divorce_Men10/03/23 11:12 PM

I’ve been there with two little boys. Full cut throat 4 year divorce. Make cool calculated decisions with least emotion as possible. Take care of yourself so you can take care of them. Take one bite at a time and you will come out of the fire a better man. I promise

At least COVID is over. I got to make 200k a year in payments on property for 3 years then she got 1/2 the equity at final settlement. Yeah. Fun fun world. Judge was mad I would not keep working 7 days a week and let her have the kids. I fought tooth and nail and got 1/2 custody

My wife hid 250k in discovery. No one cared

Iron sharpens iron my friend. Don’t look at it as a bad thing. Look at it as a test you are prepared for.

Take it one bite at a time and hang tough. I know every time a guy gets traction life kicks ya in the face. I also know that trucking headache all too well. Thanks for doing what you do. Remember. Be a good man and you will never lose those kids.

I begged her to work it out, now I would rather take a stick in the eye.

Take it one bite at a time and remember. I think I married her twin sister and I’m surviving. The kids can see through any BS. No filter there. Be a role model

Make sure she puts you ahead of, or equal to her on a consistent basis. A balance of working together. No reason to get married really. Avoid DRAMA

You will have rough times but be FINE. I do not say this lightly as it is your life. Use the time alone to build confidence in yourself and you will be 2x the man you are now. You can do this.

I’m just getting 50% custody after 3 horrible years fighting for my two little boys. Stay straight. Never give up. Do it for that little one
/r/Divorce_Men24/09/22 07:42 PM

I thought it would kill me. I took almost 3 years to get over it. Now I KNOW 100% she wasn’t worth 3 days. Use this to make your time YOURS. Build confidence, be positive, and you will have to beat women off with a stick.

I have been here. One must go through the fire to harden steel. You can do this

I sure feels that way at times… My way through it was exercise and expanding my comfort zone in other areas. Clean my garage. Keep my truck detailed. Marathon train. Renew friendships. These all become habits with time. Do things that make you feel better

Currently over three years into a nasty divorce. However I have been with the same lady for almost 3 years and we have not had one single argument. My life it truly better with her. Still never getting remarried! 🤷‍♂️

I say this, as I cried myself to sleep for months after she filed. Now you could not pay me to take that emotional torture every day. Stay strong. Set goals. Not matter how small

It’s hard but be a man. Do what you know needs done. I’m in the 3rd year of my divorce and my kids are now 6 and 9. They were 3 and 6 when it all started. Be strong. Be a man. Set the example, and your kids will love you even more. I promise. Time to grind son.

This is the way. You can do it.

I exercise, and then exercised some more. You can meet GREAT people exercising. I also dove into a lot of audio books as well as Rogan and Peterson podcast. STAY ACTIVE. Stay busy and improve. Inch by inch. It takes fire to forge steel my friend.

Mine were 2 and 5. Tough, but I finally get to be a dad without harsh criticism. No, dished don’t get done, and clothes lay on the floor sometimes. But we laugh and smile every day

I was killing it, but backed off. Why work 7 days a week and out of town just to not see my kids and give her free money. It ruins many good men

If you take it on it will be the Hardest, yet most rewarding thing you have ever done. Wife filed with our boys at 2 and 5. I stepped up big time to get 50/50. Changed my whole life and would do it again
/r/Divorce_Men11/05/22 02:18 AM

I had a 4 year old and a 18 month old son when she filed. Don’t talk poorly about her. Keep your promises to your son, be a role model, always be positive and supportive. Do this and you will have a better relationship than you ever though possible

What hurt me is the boys were in private school and 1/2 the time I had to get them there to “prove” I was a capable father. COVID turned that into 2.5 years. If mom can work with you I don’t see it as a issue at all. Many parents work away from the home. When things are settled I plan to use a nanny to help with scheduling.
/r/Divorce_Men01/05/22 08:35 PM

But as men we can do this. This forum proves there are many of us in the same position and we must move forward.

And if you want 50% of custody be prepared to shut down everything you ever built. I shut down a company that put my family on top bc it was all out of town work. It was that or lose my sons. 30 months later I’m still waiting on the final hearing.
/r/Divorce_Men01/05/22 12:28 PM

Simply yes. Shuttered a business I spent 20 years building to make sure I got 50/50 bc I was expected to drop off at 730 and pickup at 3. Three years later still not settled and my contacts are long gone
/r/Divorce_Men28/04/22 02:54 AM

I been in your spot and would not wish it on anyone. Slept in my concrete, unheated basement for 6 months trying to save it. You will come through this regardless of the outcome. It’s almost impossible, but DO NOT beg her to make it work. I did and only hurt myself. Years later I realize the abusive spell I was under. The harder I tried the harder things got

^ This is my life now. Went from fighting or not talking with my ex 90% of the time to this. Not one fight in 3 years.

My mom worked 42 years as a paralegal for a small town lawyer who had never remodeled his small building since the 70’s. He drove a old mini van packed to the ceiling with papers. He was also the morally best man I ever knew. And the most intelligent. After a short battle with pancreatic cancer he passed. 5 judges attended his funeral. I spoke to them and they all said now they have no one to recommend their clients too. My mom learned so much from that man everyone thinks she is a attorney. Nev…

I left my wife bc of it. Once a year was a joke. It was hard as hell, but I’m GREAT two years later. You need that spark to have a real connection
/r/Divorce_Men16/10/21 05:54 PM

Not at all. At 39 I found out I didn’t NEED anyone else. I didn’t have to put up with constant verbal abuse. Did not have to be a atm for her. I now have a relationship with my children that I control. It’s not ideal, but I learned to say NO .

Stay 100% positive and confident and they won’t question a thing. I’m living this now. It’s all attitude and perspective. The book “can’t hurt me” by David Goggins completely changed my life two years ago. I highly recommend the audio version

It takes a bigger man to ask. Best wishes brother. I’m in the same boat. Every time I look at my little ones my heart hurts.

I feel the same way, and I’m in the same situation. It hurts to give love and not get it back. Pour your love into your son and focus on the positives. One step at a time. There is growth in suffering, and nothing last forever. Stay strong.

It depends how you would judge. I had a 3 month affair that the wife says is the reason for divorce. What she won’t tell you is she slept with me less than 2-3x a year for for four years, and never said I love you for 3. Married 7.
