It was something along the lines of he thinks society would be fair or equal if it was all men and either (can’t remember this for verbatim) he doesn’t understand what women have to complain about or he gets angry whenever women have something to complain about. Regardless, there was no clarifying on his end (as you have presented in your comment) and he could have said what you said in a mature manner but he didn’t. He was similar to you, having a variety of friends and is pro choice to a point…

Way to rip on young girls who are republicans

Yes, as long as both parties are mature and civil in discussing. I don’t mind I think dating someone who’s fiscally/economically conservative but on social issues that’s a different story. To say anything that resembled women are inferior then men...

Had a brief text conversation with said person and past me would have continued it and kept on asking questions, because clearly it wasn’t going anywhere. It’s better to let conversations die than force something that doesn’t work. Felt so at peace afterward deleting the conversation from my phone. (No hard feelings toward the person. There just wasn’t much of a conversation.)

Don’t tell them about your exes, your past relationship eff ups. With mental illness, which I think could hinder your relationship, I believe that should be disclosed at a later point in time especially when you already establish trust with the person.

I remember bringing this drama up to my friend and they immediately wonder if she’s getting something out of this too by keeping her silence...aka money. I mean, it’s YouTube drama. I have a hard time trusting her as well as him.

I might be of the minority but it’s really about establishing stead fast boundaries from the get go, which was how I met one of my closest friends... off a dating app. I don’t view male attraction from A guy friend as a bad thing because there nothing wrong with finding someone appealing. You CAN find someone appealing or attractive but respect their boundaries. It’s when someone is purposely stringing someone along which you can tell or sometimes feel intuitively which is problematic. I don’t g…

To add to what you said about self determination, FDS also advocates its members to constantly level up and not expect from their partners what they don’t already have. Yes, I know some lurker on here will say, “But you guys are fine with dating millionaires/billionaires?” FDS has acknowledged about power imbalances many times, whether it comes to age or even money. Oh, by the way, in answer to your question, I will respond, “Sure, if the millionaires/billionaires have the same core values, goal…

lol I always thought I was in the minority where I would most likely pick my guy best friend over any guy I date if given the ultimatum. We’ve known each other for so long and there’s a reason why he’s my best friend. I emphasize this to a lot of people: there’s a reason why he’s almost everybody’s best friend.

This was Pre-FDS. Was on a local activity site and had someone messaged me. Did not appreciate the winkey face emojis and chipper message about hiking or whatever. Ignored my gut, gave him my number so we could talk about planning for the hike. Blocked him on the activity site and via text when I continued getting bad vibes. Saw him on IG recently and blocked him there too.

Similar story. I wasn’t in the right mindset/time/place to date and that person happened. Sorry you also had to go through that experience. I thought with those (or at least hoping with my ex) who comes an from affluent educated/polish backgrounds that yes while I understand why they lean towards right economically (lower taxes) that at least there is a general agreement amongst EVERYONE especially on gender, that for example, women are not inferior to men. I mean, you don’t have to be rich and …

He wasn’t obsessed but he thought people were being too serious with words these days. Even things like how people choose to identify themselves were things he didn’t understand. I went thru a period where I loosely identified as they/them and he didn’t want me to introduce my pronouns to his parents because they wouldn’t get it either.

That’s an interesting take on people who are apolitical. I do identify as bit more left leaning or democrat these days, sometimes center.

I guess when I say Trump supporter I’m automatically assuming the worse of the lot: the type who revels in terrorism, the misogynistic kind. But I will take heed in the future not to misjudge just from party alone. I’m aware it’s this one person who’s the type to really give republicans a chance dating wise a really bad rep

There was this interesting insight I read about red pill individuals. They might think they want a docile submissive woman but eventually they’re going to get bored with her because lo behold an automaton IS boring. Then they’re off to the next “best” thing.

Dated a CS brat. Let’s call him Kevin, frat boy of NY. He was voted most likely to succeed in life in high school, had parents who were accountants, went to a private high school, and a good school in NY. He has charisma and drive (which was what attracted me to him) and I know he’ll reach his financial goals but...man he was of the the red pill, LoGicAL, uncommunicative emotionally immature sort. Just want to say fuck your friend for saying you were easy. Seems like he’s the type to encourage you not to enforce your boundaries. What trash. You’re a human being, not some game or conquest. It doesn’t cost you a dime to be a decent human being in return.

I have a similar knee jerk reaction whenever I find out the guy I’m seeing is a STEM dude just because from my own personal experiences with them there was a lack of emotional tact. I know not all STEM guys are like that but from the slew of guys I dated that has been the case

Not everyone wants a meaningful, healthy relationship. Some people are willing to lose a “good” partner for the sake of being right or avoid putting in the groundwork. Some are content with ANY semblance of a relationship just so they can work towards something. It’s not a reflection on you. You’re sad, because you lack balance in your life. There’s more to it than school. Go experience things on your own and pick up new hobbies. The only new hobby you’ve acquired since then is hiking and that w…

Because dating apps are known notoriously for hook ups, where avoidants flocks and being a time sinker. How old are you? Are you interested in starting a family? I really am a firm believer that when it happens aka you finding the one it happens naturally without you forcing yourself into it. You can just take a break in the meantime to recover from the jadedness.

I really wish these people challenge him harder on his beliefs. As someone who had dated someone of the red pill mindset, I want to let you know even if this guy did get laid or a relationship he would still have an awful personality. Sex is not the cure all for lost causes who lacks self awareness like this one. I’m a bit torn honestly with whether this is an ONLY Asian hate crime or another sex addiction gone wrong, mainly because this guy does have a history for his sex addiction and the place he picked to do the shootout at is massage parlor which aligns with his vices. As someone who wants/demands a relationship or none at all, this is why I don’t casual date or hookup: I don’t want to waste my time emotionally investing in a black hole. Cheesy to say but when I love, I love hard. I like to think that makes my love more valuable because it’s not so freely given and that’s why you won’t see me on Tindr, bumble, or any of those dating apps any time soon. Maybe never.

I haven’t but I have the gist of the sentiment from sifting through FDS content. What I mean is someone should post a discussion: If you want to, you would. It would be a cheeky spin on the adage saying if he wanted he would. Also my post hasn’t been removed.

Thank you for inquiring. He said something along the lines of me being mature, or seem that way. Maybe not problems but he alluded to something about being around older people. (I corrected it so thank you for pointing that out) There was snow and ice paved on the steep trail to get to the summit. We didn’t bring spikes and we were falling - moreso me. I didn’t mind him holding my hand honestly (admittedly touch starved) but I do intend to be more wary as you said.

I’m giving the person space and will talk to them about it later. I will also reconsider the status of our friendship but as of right now my FRIEND is not going thru a good time. My original question was do I get them snacks not do I end a friendship. For someone to say don’t have ANY male friends that’s really out of line and disgusting.
/r/askFDS13/03/21 07:18 PM

Yep. He’s my best friend.
/r/askFDS13/03/21 06:44 PM
1

That is out of line.
/r/askFDS13/03/21 04:26 PM

I see. But upon further reflection I felt like I only brought up asking if he needs space because I felt uncomfortable with him being upset and I need to duck away. That’s not being a good friend.
/r/askFDS13/03/21 02:37 PM

No he simply just said f*** off. He’s usually level headed but he’s dealing with a personal problem right now and I know it’s not fixable

Oh I went there once only because FDS was mentioned yesterday and never again lol. Appreciate the concern nonetheless.

I have no intention in trying to change anyone on a meaningful scale with what was discussed yesterday. It was just trying to offer more insight into FDS.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/03/21 06:40 PM

If that was the case they could have continued the discussion. Well, it’s done and over with.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/03/21 06:19 PM

Whenever I see myself feeling bitter about something to the point it’s not serving me, that meant I have too much time on my hands. Harder to do than say, but acknowledge that feeling when it comes up and move on. It helps to squeeze in a “me” day or a hobby so you are not so deep into your thoughts.
/r/askFDS12/03/21 05:37 PM

Oh I actually quite enjoy it. It was like writing an essay about a subject I am fairly knowledgeable about these days. And the people I did talk to to were civil and (politely) curious.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/03/21 05:27 PM
6

The usual negative generalizations made about FDS and I broke some of them down. Believe it or not, despite them not still being on board with the rules of FDS, I believe they have a better idea now of what FDS is in a positive or fairer sense, judging by how they responded. It helps to be civil as that allows discussion to flow and both parties feel respected. If I jump in antagonizing them and THEN try to prove my point, that leads to the other side being more focused on feeling insulted than …

I actually ended up having a civil discussion with two Redditors on there and let them know I am a member of FDS. Besides some downvotes, I haven’t been spammed by anyone.

I think those interested in joining FDS could message me or send a chat request if they have any questions. And that goes to the same to any lurkers who are unable to comment on this sub. Just be civil and I prefer (trying to kindly word this) if it’s not a full on therapy session (I’m not a therapist!) otherwise I will not partake in the discussion. Convincing statements: You don’t need to explain to us. We see where you’re coming from. If he wanted to, he would. What matters is that he didn’t.…

This was a response I gave to a commenter on another subreddit in FDS. I want to add that while I don’t agree with all of FDS principles there are some things people who don’t know much about the community have misconstrued and I hope my assessment is fair. I notice with the article that came out recently there has been an uptick of hate

Agree. You let people get away with so much if you are fixated on one aspect of someone is. Would like to point out as “financially” secure my ex is, that didn’t pad up the awful parts of his personality. With time, I know he’s going to figure out he’s not worth shit to others out there and his money is not going to get him the harem of girls.

I try to take people on a case by case. You’re upset that the women you know are generalizing all men and now you’re doing the same which doesn’t really help the situation does it? It says to me that the woman should walk away and work on herself in order to realize she shouldn’t be constantly chasing, shouldn’t be so desperate to make things work when her boyfriend is not doing the same in return. I would say the same thing if a man is chasing an emotionally unavailable immature women. Because …

I really think these people who stick with “shitty” men comes from some unresolved trauma and it has to do a lot with people pleasing/care-taking. It occur to me for example yesterday that I’m so used to disrespect that I’ve built a tolerance for it so it’s not an apparent red flag. And that’s something one has to actively work on.

Do not overlook something like this. My ex explicitly expressed at the beginning of his earlier texts to me that a long term/serious relationship would be too much right now but he proceeded to talk about how I was a unicorn. Cue first date and he mentioned about moving wherever I go for my job. Don’t be stoopid like me and want something so bad that you overlook red flags.

That’s really hard for me to say because a relationship I follow is Arden Rose and Will Darbyshire. They’ve been together for what 4-5 years already I think? And they seem happy from the looks of their relationship so I believe a 4-5 year relationship no ring is possible especially if everything is communicated on. They’ve dated since I think their early twenties. Nonetheless, unless TS had mentioned and made it a firm boundary/ requirement that she wanted to get married after two years it’s rea…

I don’t feel the need now to continue making conversation when I don’t want to. Or stick around for things that doesn’t sit right with me. I don’t have to waste my time “educating” people on basic decency or things that are problematic. Had to resist explaining to someone why a close to 30 something year old dating a 18/19 year old is problematic in itself it’s not really ok just because they’re legally consenting adults. No, no, no. Kindness, supportiveness, and sweetness, that should be expected in any quality friendships you have, not just relationships. It is not gender specific to act with human decency. My ex was working at the deli when we dated for a majority of our relationship. One could argue I was above his level in that regard, but what made me think I was out of his league was not his profession but how he carried himself. That person he’s dating now is not important to your life and neither is he. The relationship you had with him is gone. People like that rarely change. I have a cousin who I really admire. She has health problems and her eyes are crap but she’s still moving forward in life. Despite being in her twenties, she has never dated nor she pursues it. Her sole focus on these past couple of years is on her career goals, skincare and taking care of her folks. Her singleness doesn’t phase her. One of the things I remember her telling me is “I’m too secure in myself to stoop that low.” I want to reach that point where I can say it too.

It could also be people like that with wealth and I guess power feel like they’re not in short supply of women (gross me even writing that) and they don’t feel the need to marry early in life or even marry at all. That’s up to the person but... I’m starting to wonder if marriage is growing to be an outdated concept :/

I wasn’t aware that Clooney had been doing that. Nonetheless, I felt the same way with Clooney and Amal only because at first you would think think wow he is dating someone who has a career based on talent and not Hollywood. But then we get into the 16 year age difference. Only reason I think he gets somewhat of a pass is that she was in her mid to late 30s when they met/married but...it still seems irresponsible to have a child with that age gap.

Oof didn’t want to be on the nose for that one. She’ll find someone better. When she said they’ve been together for about 9 years and he’s proposing now...I was like oof red flag....and that cheap marriage proposal gosh he could have at least proposed in a veranda in a park and I think that would have been more romantic

She is describing how he bends over backwards in his career and that’s what she likes about him... Me: (shakes head while watching vid) sad he didn’t do as much for you Maybe I’ve been on FDS too long but I wonder if it was a porn addiction

I also don’t think it’s that women spend more time to look pretty but also when you think about the notion that men age better than women are we thinking about a single woman or married woman? Not saying that married women can’t look good but you have to think about the 9 month pregnancy, the stress of childcare, putting in what (not sure if I’m quoting this correctly)2.5 times more hours of household work than the husband (??) ...that takes a toll on ones physical appearance.

That’s true but I know I am an anxious mess around my partners if I don’t have my ducks line up in a row. That’s a hard question. Something that makes a difference and doesn’t simply generate money for corporate. I love analyzing relationships (I frequent dating subreddits often) but the thing is I can’t stand hearing people ramble on too long. Therefore becoming a therapist is out of the question. Close to a year but if you don’t count those 2-3 months where I was pursuing him after he broke up…

Yup, yup, preaching to the choir. My last relationship ruined dating for me and I’m like (although I know it’s not fair to those around me) well one bad apple ruined it for y’all and therefore I’m off the dating market for a long long time. I also don’t feel adequate to date yet because my career is still a work in progress and my living situation isn’t yet. When I think about it, wow, I was hella optimistic two years ago in my early 20s thinking I was gonna find my One on a dating app It’s sooo…

You don’t need to respond. I just want to say I was giving him the silent treatment out of my own stubbornness and pride in not wanting to ask for help. He was actually trying to talk to me but I didn’t budge. Then at the end I got snippy when it was clear I shouldn’t have and I brought up something out of the blue that was on my mind (the loneliness). Maybe it was to pin blame on him idk. I’m just not proud of how I acted.

I’ve been playing around with the idea that the language people don’t feel like they receive very much of is the language they preferred, but ideally all 5 you should receive in a relationship. I recognize that I’m generalizing but men for the most part or stereotypically don’t receive a lot of hugs and physical affection growing up do they compared to women?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy09/02/21 04:35 AM

My light new year resolution was to be more selfish of my time. And let me tell you it was soooo uncomfortable to tell my boss and the event hosts that I’ll MAYBE go to the work event when he brought up how he likes to see me there two times in a row. I didn’t show up. But man I love being able to set a non obligatory precedent and that rest after work was needed.

Same. I wanted to be partnered and I didn’t have many many dreams. I would have gladly went wherever my love go but I would say for the most part I’m done with dating apps. At least right now. After my last ex l I really had to take a pause. My therapist told me that no one is going to come rescue me so I need start making ME happy, not just safe it safe.

If I’m going to be honest with myself, it’s the idea of having a partner who’s got your back and committed to you as you are to them and also it’s waking up to my stomach person. I know myself well enough that I put a lot of stock and care and thought into a relationship and if that was reflected by someone back to me I know I would be one stack happier than I am now.

That girlfriend of his is not important to your life and neither is he. The relationship has been done and over with for over a year. You have been able to make it on your own without him and I trust you will keep on doing so. People rarely change. It’s not “you weren’t good enough for him” or “you’re less than anybody”; it’s he found a girl who is willing to tolerate his bullshit. On that note, don’t start thinking you were too weak or sensitive for no longer putting up with it. You’re not, you…

You forgive yourself. I am an anxious attachment and I was dating someone who was an avoidant. So when he gives me the silent treatment my anxiety and neediness flared. I haven’t dated for 6-7 months now...1.5 more years to go... still feeling unbelievably sad now over the ordeal. Therapy and filling up my schedule help.
/r/askFDS04/02/21 02:35 PM
8

You live with it and continue to work on yourself. Realize it most likely wasn’t a you problem but something to do with him. Don’t force yourself to start dating. Do it when you feel ready. I’m still working on that as well. My ex left me about 7-8 months ago and I question every day what I could have done better, or still fix things after all this time. But the relationship is dead. I saw red flags in the relationship but decided to stay and ironically got dumped for expressing basic needs.
/r/askFDS04/02/21 01:31 PM
7

Honestly I rather he uses I didn’t meant to. My ex used three different excuses for not being emotionally supportive: 1) I never went to him and drew some arbitrary line. 2) Emotions are a weakness to men. 3) He’s sorry he COULDNT be there. Regardless he proceeded to act insulting and derogatory gator after his apology. I’m just frustrated

/r/FemaleDatingStrategy02/02/21 03:42 AM

Don’t date right now. You said so yourself that you would want something more the longer you invest in another person. If you can’t handle casual dating then I recommend waiting for a few years until you’re done with your schooling.

I remember my ex telling me how Valentine’s Day prices are jacked up and I didn’t make a big deal of it. I ordered him a studded animal that arrived late and told him it wasn’t for Valentine’s Day but really it was. I THINK he got me candy a week later. On Valentine’s Day I remember just making some pasta and calling a friend. Looking back at it now would have loved him if he had spoiled me a little on that day; I should have said something

Take it easy and I’m sorry for the pain you’ve experienced. I feel that way at times sometimes too
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy31/01/21 06:21 PM

It’s annoying. All of it. You communicate, people like that shut down. You walk away and they make it seem like you’re the bad guy for no longer putting up with that type of behavior
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy31/01/21 05:37 PM
5

I agree. You can’t be over silencing your emotion (make sure you have none) and expect to be able to control them at the same time. That leads to outbursts. I notice partners who are stoic and not welcoming of emotions (ie vulnerability) are those ironically the ones who are emotionally immature. It’s not surprising that they are unable to handle other peoples emotions since they can’t handle their own.

I think using titles like that is gross. That’s an interesting point, using terms like that box people in. For example, someone professing to be a love-bomber or narcissist... ok, you recognize what it is that you do, now how are you going to behave moving forward?

Even if a guy watches anime, I would be more mindful of who their favorite characters are and what type of animes they watch. Ex: My ex’s favorite female character is Rem from Re Zero. Snippet from wiki on this character: “After Subaru saves her, she falls deeply in love with him, becoming one of his most loyal followers. Rem will stick with him no matter what happens, even if Subaru rejects himself.” Gross, right? Another anime that he likes is Kaguya sama: Love is War. It’s basically a lengthy…

I wouldn’t say just men and it depends on the reason why they make you feel bad. If the person is holding you accountable to doing something honest, it’s natural that you would feel bad. You move forward and be mindful of what you’ve done. If they accuse you of doing something that isn’t true, then by all means, don’t spend time with them.

You live with it. You shouldn’t have done that in your relationship. It wasn’t healthy. He should have paid more attention to you. But should have could haves are what you come face to face with after these things happened. In your next relationship you take all the lessons you’ve learned from this one and do better, because that’s all you can do.

Yeah. I hated myself because I felt like as a woman I was weak. Me telling them I was being treated poorly was deemed as me building him up to be the bad guy and me liking playing victim. So I started ignoring some things. I was not empathetic or agreeable enough otherwise I would let things slide. I was too emotional and demanding even though what I wanted was just basic emotional support and communication. I hate being a woman. I still do to some extent. Early to mid 20s is terribly young to get married in my opinion, because the influx of change. Anyone knows if she’s his first girlfriend? She has every right to be upset when and if he tells her. He must NEVER come back to her and disturb her peace after this, so I hope he thought about this thoroughly. I was in denial for a long time that my ex didn’t know better. It was his first relationship so I gave him a free pass for being derogatory and insulting. My best friend pointed out that he chooses to act that way and he’s proud of it. And my ex has lived long enough on this earth that he knows how to act properly. Maybe controversial? Don’t date till your late 20s early 30s if you are looking for a serious relationship but even that I’m still iffy about. I think the lessons you could learn from a failed relationship are ones you can easily acquire from friendships.

It’s not a “you” thing. Be aware that 90% of relationships end before 30. Around early 20s most people are still interested in playing the field. It’s sadly normal for people to play pretend to get something they want. Terrible I know, but there’s no point dwelling (easier said than done!) because what I do see, while briefly scanning your writing, is a boy who’s not into you. Time to block him and move on sis.

Sounds like these women were pulled in by sweet nothings and cheap gestures or they wanted love so badly they were willing to overlook trash. (I’ve been there!) And sadly by the time they faced any cognitive dissonance they got attached, which understandably makes it harder to leave. So weird to say but you can have good times with a misogynist, you can fall in love with them even, you can find traits in your misogynist partner that you may like.
