We'll use the phrase "fix you a plate" in the American South, but in my family you won't see a wife "fix a plate" for her husband unless the husband was disabled in some way. We usually "fix a plate" for children, the elderly, and the disabled.

So many of them really are just looking for a warm female body to fill a role and they get no emotional connection out if it at all. I don’t get it.

What do you want to bet the mom is into this guy and that's why she encourages her daughter to spend time with him? Hell the mom is probably only a couple of years older than he is and has a crush on him.

Truthfully I don't own any heels and rarely wear makeup so he's encouraging me to be more who I am normally. I also hadn't shaved in a while when this convo happened. I mentioned that I probably should and he was like, "Don't do it on my account I'd love it if you grew it all out."

I don't think it's a fetish. He's also always saying I don't need makeup or heels etc. I think he's just more into the natural look.

Historically women could not own property, hold bank accounts, or take out credit. The only form of wealth or security a woman could own was jewels. Women asked for, and collected, jewelry because in the event her husband died or abandoned her, her jewels were the only things that kept her out of poverty.

Probably because he's worn condoms before in his life and has an idea of his size and what he wears. Also the measurements of condoms is read on the internet. If he usually wears a larger size and he bought regulars, they will be tight around the base of his shaft. If he normally wears a "snug fit" and bought a regular size they may be too loose.

I don't want my life entwined with a man's life. I enjoy casual relationships and great sex with people I don't have to do a lot of emotional labor for. Getting young men to think critically about their experiences and friends, our society, and the conscious and subconscious messages they receive is the ONLY path forward. Another option would be convincing women to just leave men the hell alone to fend for themselves. Stop having sex and relationships with them. Before you say "that's not going to happen," you're as likely to get women to stop fucking men as you are to get young men to think critically.

By understanding that we all have different criteria, but for any one person, the number of people who fit all their criteria will be very rare. I think it strongly depends on the context. You mention she was his girlfriend. Would I break up with a man I had been dating for weeks or months? Absolutely. But I would wait until he was home from the hospital and in life was settling into a "new normal." Would I leave a husband that I was happy with and loved? No. However if he was completely incapable of sex it would likely become a more companionate/caretaker marriage and I would work out an arrangement where I could get my sexual needs met…

If you haven't already, read the Female Dating Strategy Handbook in the sidebar. Other than that my best advice for a high school graduate is to completely disregard males until you have your career in order and are in your own place and able to pay your own bills. You need to be able to stand on your own two feet. And yes, we really do encounter mostly bad men. There are more bad than good ones unfortunately.

I do work and bring home the monies while she does NOthINg aLL dAY! We have 5 kids under the age of 7, and she just gets to stay home and live off MY DimE! I want a divorce because she doesn’t initiate the sex anymore, but then she’d get HAlf Of mY STuFf!” God, this is word-for-word what they say too.

I don't think men are capable of love the way we understand and want to be loved. From what I understand, male love is when they want to posses you, protect you, and provide for you. You don't get the last two without the first, which is why I don't do relationships.

They want to keep their options open. They want to lock you down for social dates and exclusive sex, but they want to keep looking for someone else as well. You're right to pass that up.

I'm older than you (late 30s) and have no interest in long term. There's not a man born I'd want to share my home and life with. But I like going out and meeting new interesting men and going on dates and adding them to the scrotation if they make the cut. Different people want different things. It's good that you're very clear on what you want. I'm always very clear that I'm not looking for a LTR.

I've had some positive experiences with FWB too. My current FWB is great-- definitely a real friend and the sex is outstanding. It's not all on his terms either. But finding a good FWB is like finding one diamond in a pile of cubic zirconias. And if what the woman really wants is a relationship; FWB is universally a terrible idea because you will catch feelings and he will exploit that.

It's a big part of the reason I've stopped trying to have relationships with men. Even the "good" ones refuse to believe women's own experiences. A man who won't believe women is a man I refuse to associate with. And the vast majority of men would rather defend men than believe women.

They're jealous because it's so easy for women to get sex. Nevermind that a lot of it is terrible and even downright traumatic. If they could get sex by lying out in the gutter with their legs spread they'd do it, and they can't imagine that women aren't basically doing that.

Well, first of all I'm 38 and I don't consider myself "an older person" thankyouverymuch! :-D I have stayed fit, healthy, active, and slim and have always taken good care of my skin. If you have done that and are doing that, you're going to have a huge advantage over most women over 30. The sad truth is that many many people over 30, men and women both, let themselves go. I could go on a date with a different man 4 -7 nights a week if I wanted to. I don't lack for dates or male attention. Dati…

It is normal, that's the sad thing. Human beings are designed/evolved to need companionship. When we evolved out on the savanna, loners didn't live long. There is absolutely nothing more natural than a heterosexual, young female to want to find a mate. There's literally millions of years of evolution pushing you to do this. Trying not to do that is like trying not to eat or breathe. The problem, of course, is that our society has created so many shitty men that we as women have the choice to e…

I don't trust men enough to give them that kind of commitment. But it's a fun way to get out of the house and try new bars/restaurants and meet interesting people. I think the main thing is to know yourself and know what you want. If you're looking for a serious relationship, early sex isn't really the best way to go. If you're like me and you just want casual sex, then it's fine. But you have to be honest with yourself and not expect a fwb or hookup to suddenly decide to make you his girlfriend or wife. Or if, like you, sex doesn't cause attachment, that's valuable information too. But exceptions don't negate the rule: that for most women, particularly yo…

Nope, one of the unwritten "rules" of workplaces is that it's pretty much considered to be women's (unpaid) job to acknowledge birthdays/holidays/etc. Men (almost) never do it and aren't expected to. I was asking because a lot of people have unrealistic ideas of safety and what constitutes behavior that will and won't expose them. If you're asking for HSV1 tests prior to kissing and never drink after anyone then you are solidly committed and have a good grasp of what it takes to avoid it. Good for you; you've made an educated decision and not one from a place of fear and ignorance.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy13/02/20 06:32 PM

I've had the blood test a couple of times but I'm also aware they're not that accurate. I test negative but I also grew up sharing straws with my cousins and being kissed by grandma, which is how most people get it.

Very very very few people even get tested for HSV1. If you go to a doctor or planned parenthood and request a "full panel" STI screening, they won't test you for HSV1 or HSV2.. The CDC recommends against testing for it unless you have active lesions. If you specifically order a test for herpes, 99% of the time they will only test for HSV2. If you sometimes get cold sores or sore spots around your mouth, you likely have HSV1. Somewhere between 50-80% of the US adult population has it.

The biggest lie the patriarchy ever sold is making women think marriage is good for them. It's not. Every study and every metric confirms women are less physically and emotionally healthy, less happy, and die sooner when married vs single. Meanwhile the same studies confirm marriage BENEFITS men in all those metrics. And yet. We like sex. And spending time with men whose company we enjoy. What then do you propose we do?

I strongly agree with this. I've given up on relationships and have zero desire for marriage and family. If I wanted a husband and kids I wouldn't be wasting my time and sexuality on FWB.

one-way situationships where the woman gives sex and gets none of her needs met. Honestly that sounds like the times a man has locked me down with the "girlfriend" label. At least my FWBs have been friends that I go out and do things with and offer emotional support. And the "boyfriends" ghosted when they were done. FWBs have remained friends even when the benefits ended.

My current best FWB is like that. He's not relationship material but I do care for the guy. The good thing is that he's genuinely a good person and fun to be around; his life is just kind of a mess. So he's a good friend, we hang out and have fun and do dinner together and have sex. But you always need to be seeing 3-4 to minimize feels otherwise you get all caught up on one.

I get out of the house, meet interesting and attractive people, go to restaurants and clubs and hiking trails and all sorts of places I wouldn't normally go and do things I wouldn't normally do. If we hit it off, if I'm attracted to him, if he adds value to my life, sex might happen. I've made some new friends, had fun experiences, and had some great sex. I've also met terrible peo…

I don't believe in the version of love we are sold for sure. I love my parents, I love my friends, I love my pets, I love my niece to bits and beyond, I love one of my FWBs, I love my snug little house. I'm not "in love" with any of these people/things/beings. I can understand it. I'm a woman and I just don't want a relationship. Honestly I've had great guys who would have loved to be in a relationship. But I don't want one. I don't want another person having a say in my life. I don't want to have to answer to anyone. I don't want to ask "where is this going?" Being in a long term committed relationship just doesn't appeal.

Who wants to get tested multiple times a year? Well... I do, if the alternative is abstinence. Even if I were being monogamous I would still get tested frequently because I don't trust men to keep a monogamous commitment. I'm not saying it's risk-free. It isn't. Neither is snow-skiing or skydiving or motorcycling or horseback riding or snowboarding. I've had broken bones and concussions from my hobbies too. With FWB you can afford to be even pickier than with relationships tbh. Think about your criteria, what you need and what you can afford to let slide. My requirements are: 1) I must find him very physically attractive 2) He needs to be a good lover; the sex has to satisfy me. 3) The friendship can't be a polite fiction; we have to actually spend time together outside of bed and enjoy it. Obviously that's besides all of the absolutely necessary requirements regarding safer sex. I've met all my pr…

I think your first step needs to be to figure out why you're dating. Are you dating because you're looking for a husband, or are you dating for sex/companionship? Once you've figured out your objective in dating, figure out your criteria. If you're looking for a husband, a man who is in the military or who is a student isn't necessarily a bad thing depending on his career trajectory, especially since you're still in university himself. Literally every study ever done on this subject shows that marriage increases men's health, income, happiness, and life span while decreasing women's. And yet for some reason we're the ones stereotypically dying to marry while men have to be guilt-tripped and cajoled into it.

Me personally? No. I've never been un-attracted to a man when I met him and then changed my mind later. But that's just me. I guess that's why it's important to know thyself in dating. If you're like me there's no point in continuing to date a man you're un-attracted to. If someone is like you it might be a good idea to give men a chance even if you're not physically attracted to them at first.

Sure. People are always bleating "but he liiiiikes you! Give him a chaaaance!" There's a strong sense that women owe their time and attention to men as some sort of prize for having a job and not being murderers and liking us. So we "give them a chance" and then are cast as evil bitches for not being interested in sex.

If you haven't looked into it already, do some research on trauma bonding. It's not unusual to become extremely emotionally attached to someone who causes us great pain. Your body can get used to the chemicals released by the ups and downs so that normal, healthy relationships seem gray and dreary in comparison. What you're going through is not unusual for crazy stressful toxic relationships. Read up on this and possibly talk to a good therapist or counselor.
