I made a post about this a year ago.

It’s not a gotcha. I’m making a massive men’s rights citation list for my website and I need sources. Plus, I feel like this could be useful for people who need arguments.

I think that’s the reason the “Karen” meme took off.

So does this also explain why black and disabled students are also discriminated against in the school system?
/r/MensRights17/05/24 11:34 PM

I am black so this would definitely work

It’s reddit dude, kinda comes with the platform. At the very least I’m not gatekeeping anything.
/r/MensRights11/05/24 08:17 PM
1

We’re not gatekeeping anything, this is academic research. If anything its the opposite, as many feminists claim men don’t deal with depression as most as women. Your comment implies incels are hostile to women or something when in reality most misogynistic men tend to be hypermasculine and promiscuous men.

Thank you everyone!

This is more of a philosophical problem. You can easily say that about any form of bigotry. If your a white person and you were assaulted by a black man, you could say “white supremacy isn’t a problem it’s a response,” doesn’t mean it was the right response. (P.S. I’m black). The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was a response to the attack on Pearl Harbor, doesn’t mean it was the only response. History has shown repeatedly that repaying evil with evil only increases the amount of evil in the w…

I know, I was just mentioning that arousal itself isn’t the only cause of erections. I mentioned in the edit that sexual arousal doesn’t imply consent either.

You know what, I sorry I misunderstood your post. I promise you I don’t hate women. In fact, I believe Men’s Rights will never be successful if the majority harbors hatred for women. The point of my post was to say lived experience shouldn’t justify hatred for men as the argument could easily be reversed. For more clarity I will add a edit post on the bottom. Also the question in the end was meant to be rhetorical. I’m asking why care about the experience of people who don’t care about mine. I’m…

Right back at you. If you want to talk about experience, my mother almost choked me to death at 10. But you don’t hear me saying “kill all women,” or “all women are trash,” or stupid shit like that because I realize my mom hurt me, not women. When I was in a mental hospital and in group therapy just about every other boy and girl I knew said they were abused by their mother. For the longest time the legal word “rape” was gendered — completely aliennating male victims unless it’s by other men. An…

The problem, this argument is one hundred percent based on anecdotes and personal experience. One could easily argue that she’s leaving off context, or maybe it’s just a misunderstanding. For example, maybe the boys just have problems with adults in general because they can sense the bias, and since most of the adults in their lives are female. It comes across as if they have a problem with women, when really it’s just authority figures.

Yes, I think MRA as a whole should get more creative with their advocacy. Having general discussions and using academic research is good. But I also believe MRAs should utilize poetry, art, music, storytelling, etc. Historically almost all American Civil Rights groups used creative forms of protest, so why not us?

The study “Male Victims of Sexual Assault: A Review of the Literature,” completely debunks this argument. “Victimization has a direct negative influence on the physical and mental health of those who experience it, leading to short- and long-term physical injury, fear, anxiety, despair, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), low self-esteem, social difficulties, and suicide ideation (…). Together with other socioeconomic implications such as being unable to work, dropping out of school, being st…

I don’t know, but the one that said 38% of sex traffickers are female came from 2018, which wasn’t that long. Sex trafficking is one of those crimes that hard to detect. So it’s probably always been that way and it’s only now be discovered more and more, but that’s just speculation.

But it’s still nice to have citations, people can’t ignore them for long. In fact, the reason why feminism is crumbling is because people are realizing it’s built on poor foundation.

“What, you mean homicide victims [1]? Or genocide victims [2]? Because it’s mostly men that are a risk of being murdered.” But in all seriousness, you can just reverse the logic against them. I mean more women commit child abuse and murder then men [3], and both men and women are equally likely to be be raped, domestic abused, and possibly stalked by members of the opposite sex [4], [5], [6]. So you could just present the evidence and reverse their argument against them. “Not all women, but alwa…

Yes, ideally people shouldn’t have to carry pepper spray, or a gun. Ideally, we shouldn’t have to lock our doors at night. Ideally, we shouldn’t even need passcodes for phones and bank accounts. But guess what! This isn’t Heaven. We don’t live in a world devoid of human evil. This isn’t about victim blaming, it’s about preventing victimization. Sure, but Sweden is known for being a dangerous place. So if even there most people are still pretty chill, that that means most dudes in America are also pretty chill.

Oh sorry I pulled a Sweden and jumped the gun.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/01/24 07:01 PM

Doesn’t that bolster my point though. If the Swedish are hella violent but yet most of them are still peaceful, doesn’t that mean even in violent places most people are still harmless.

That’s not disrespectful, thank you 🙏
/r/MensRights10/01/24 03:19 PM

Exactly, I don’t understand why being cautious is something reserved for women. When literally everyone should be cautious of strangers. Men are still more likely to be murdered by strangers then women.

“They were admittedly over 90% men, but not normal men. They were usually young men often in their teens/early 20s, often had a major mental disorder and sometimes substance use disorders, and psychiatric inpatient disorders.” [1]. So it’s still fair to use this study in response to mass vilification of men. Also why would a Sweden study not matter to us here?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/01/24 12:38 AM
15

Obviously, you don’t take analogy too literally. Women aren’t literally bunnies, and men aren’t literally foxes. “Every bunny knows a bunny that was attacked by a fox.” I’m willing to bet it’s the other way around as well. Every women knows a man who was mistreated by another woman. Women are the aggressors in 70% of relationships, which means a lot of men you know probably have experience domestic abuse. [1]. (Whether they realize it or not). Even in teenage relationships, boys experience more …

Japan as a crap ton of other social issues so that doesn’t surprise me [1], [2], [3], [4]. I mean, they only just now started acknowledging the Ainu people. I even admitted that in some, but rare, contexts women in leadership are mistreated simply being women. This post was more focused on a Western context, in particular America. The first link in the post references multiple studies that shows that most men in western countries see women as equals, and even superiors sometimes. While it’s unfo…

Yea, I don’t hate women, and I don’t believe their inferior or anything. (The guys that do are no different from the misandrists they despise). I just want equality for both sexes. I’m not a parent yet. But I don’t want to live in a society we’re both my possible son or daughter is mistreated because of sexism. And I believe it’s very possible to obtain a more peaceful and equitable society.

/r/MensRights29/12/23 07:22 PM

Do you have a source?
/r/MensRights29/12/23 04:10 PM

No, that’s just realism. “The negativity bias is a cognitive bias that results in adverse events having a more significant impact on our psychological state than positive events. Negativity bias occurs even when adverse events and positive events are of the same magnitude, meaning we feel negative events more intensely.” [1]
/r/MensRights29/12/23 03:11 PM

I think everyone has a natural victim mentality because for the most part everyone is wired to think negatively. The difference is, some victim mentalities are encouraged and embellished by society.
/r/MensRights29/12/23 02:41 PM

In responding to your previous comment and thinking about it more, I will admit some men probably do perceive women as more aggressive than they really are, (the same goes vice-versa). But the phrase, some are more equal than others doesn’t work here. How do you explain this study which says that women in leadership are perceived as just as competent as the men in the same position? It even says that: “In contrast, in one 2018 poll, 86% believed men and women were equally intelligent, 9% believe…
/r/MensRights29/12/23 02:27 PM

Actually, that the idea that testosterone leads to aggression has been under scrutiny.
/r/MensRights29/12/23 02:09 PM
12

But according to the research women are already seen as equals, hell, even superiors. The same research says men either don’t mind, or even prefer women in authority positions. And “mean and cruel” while are harsh words to use, are still the same words I’ve heard some women use to describe themselves. Anyway https://www.peoplehum.com/glossary/queen-bee-syndrome

I 100% agree with that last one. I would never date someone with pass trauma. I don’t care if it’s harsh, people nowadays don’t know how to correctly process their trauma without traumatizing others. It’s a damn plague.

It’s like literally all they say on TikTok and Twitter. That’s why they say “kill all men,” or “all men are trash,” and “yes all men.” They legitimately believe all men are awful, or at the very least exaggerate it to say so. A study like this, at least proves most men are harmless, so the entire population shouldn’t be wiped out for the actions of a small minority, even if it’s a joke. Besides, there’s no American study equivalent to this one, (from what I’ve seen), so there’s no reason to not …

As a POC male, I think it’s because the people saying that has no experience of being a SWM. They only know that they are not SWM and their lives suck, therefore, their lives suck because their not a SWM. Also, for some reason, for some people to feel like their problems are validated, they have to invalidate other people’s experiences.
