Many feminists argue almost exclusively from their experience, but this means nothing. We can easily argue that their lying, leaving off context, or misunderstanding their own memories. What’s important is academic research and data, anecdotal evidence does have some weight but not enough. We know from studies that males are as likely as females to experience rape, domestic abuse, harassment, and stalking, from members of the opposite sex [1, 2, 3]. Which debunks the “by other men” argument, but you invalidate our experience, so why should we respect yours?

EDIT: By the way, the purpose of this post was to refute the argument that lived experience validate misandry. I believe it’s a slippery slope, as the same mindset can be used to justify misogyny. Everyone’s experience matters, but it should all ways be coupled with research in academic discussion.
