Sorry I'm replying so late, but I guess it's better than not replying... I'm about 5'7/5'8 and while I'm average, one thing I'm self conscious about is that some people think I'm weird/intimidating. I'm a metal-head so I have long curly hair which might make me unattractive to many but I refuse to cut it.

It's as easy as walking up and saying anything you can think of that doesn't come off as creepy. If I see a girl sitting alone, I'll usually ask the time or where a class/building is and if she seems friendly, I'll ask her what she's up to and go from there. Just make sure you're relaxed and have a positive/happy attitude. Making jokes has helped me a lot when meeting girls. If the conversation's going well, make sure to ask for her number (and name if you haven't yet) before you walk away. Hope…

Thank you! I'm on the AA stage too but I guess I just forced myself to go for it this time. Just a couple days ago I was freaking out about talking to a really cute girl. You'll be surprised how fast you can overcome it by just putting yourself in the line of fire.

Does seem like a good way to approach it but I'm not sure I'd want to do that. If I was nervous and someone asked me, it would probably make me more awkward. I might just try it out as an experiment though.

It did open up my eyes a bit. One thing I've learned is not to be fidgety or stiff/robotic. It is pretty hard but I'm getting slowly better at it. I guess we progress as fast as we push ourselves. I'm sort of in the same situation. Thanks for the encouraging words.

Thanks. I already began talking to her on FB. Yeah, I have a friend who does it all the time (wearing sunglasses) but doesn't seem aware of it. I should probably let him know. I felt as if "any time" was not the right thing to say but I did say it in a nice tone. Thanks for the great advice, I will be using it next time!

While I would focus on the HBs too, you might want to talk to a few non HBs just to not look bad. Being the only guy there gives you a huge advantage already. Just sit next to the HBs and engage in a conversation. I change seats in my classes often to get to talk to different HBs.

I actually just got a new house but it's being constructed on and I'm not allowed to have girls over after a certain time. I would get caught. Also, I have a little sister so I don't want to set that kind of example.
