How many of you bought your wife out of the house?I took a heloc loan to buy mine out. Almost 100 percent of the payment is interest at around 900 a month. The other thing to consider is the memories in the house. Its hard to sit in the house alone when it used to have my kids here full time. I regret keeping the house except for the low interest rate on my mortgage. | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/06/26 09:58 PM
Anyone willing to admit they actually regret leaving?Absolutely. Its been 2 years since divorce and my whole world is still upside down. Life was way easier in spite of the issues. But overall I know we just weren't right for each other anymore. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/04/26 10:56 AM
How do I deal with the grief? In my experience, it doesn't get better. Stay as busy as possible to keep yourself distracted from it and hold on to whatever mundane joy you can find. Good luck | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/07/25 08:27 PM
How do you deal with the house??I kept the house and bought my wife out with a heloc loan so I could keep my low mortgage rate. She'll probably have to do something like that. | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/07/25 03:10 PM
Does anyone ever regret the decision?Life after has been the worst experience of my life. If it's possible to work things out and try to get back to how you used to feel about each other, that's what I would do. | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/07/25 08:46 PM
Happy Independence DayI do lift. I have been for about 6 months. 6 days a week. It takes a lot out of me and I have to rest every few weeks just to be able to function. It's definitely not as easy as it used to be. But the endorphins don't last long either way. Im relying on meds just to be able to keep my job and maintain my house. | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/07/25 09:05 AM
Happy Independence DayNot that I couldn't use more of it, but I've read cover to cover about 5 times. Favorite book is Job and then ecclesiates. Im born again and pray daily. I still feel on the verge of giving up on everything. Without a purpose, the effort is definitely not worth it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/07/25 10:14 PM
Father's Day giftJust to clarify, I don't expect them to spend their own money. I paid for their mom's stuff. I expect for her not to buy something for me "from them". If they can't even sso much as know what the gift is, then it's all from her which makes me hate the gift. I am not mad at my kids, this is 100 percent on her. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/06/25 06:30 AM

Two Years Later.I feel the same way with my kids and my life. I'm trying to figure it out too. It really is hard to get out of bed and keep going. When it comes down to it. Nobody seems to know how to help you get out of the hole. You have to crawl out on your own. Everyone says read a book or get a hobby but it's not easy to find something to fulfilling. Just when you start thinking and spiraling, find something that needs to be done and try to keep yourself busy and your mind occupied. Force yourself to do fu… | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/04/25 08:01 AM

New lifeI'm trying to think of a hobby I'm interested in. I've been pondering for a while. It's hard to want to do anything while being so depressed. I've been in therapy for 4 years and I've just come to know myself more and i just hate myself even more and feel like my ex helped me through a lot of adversity and I feel so weak without her. I don't see myself being in another serious relationship because I'm just not worth it. My kids are almost both adults and I don't know how I'm supposed to do this … | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/03/25 06:15 PM
New lifeAll of my friends that have remained loyal live in other states. I've considered softball because I used to play and loved playing sports in my younger days. I have my daughter every other week and she plays basketball so it's hard for me to commit to a team. And I worry about hurting myself since I'm older now. I can't afford anything injury. It sucks because that's the only thing that interests me and would help me to make some local friends. I've dipped my toe into online dating and I hate it… | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/03/25 04:37 PM
Tough time this morningI'm 6 months into divorce and it has been very difficult. I have been extremely depressed and I'm still working through it. But If she doesn't love/want you anymore, you just have to let go and begin to heal. The quicker you can let her go and accept your new life, the sooner you will be able to heal. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/03/25 05:39 PM
We are both miserable after long term married ,but if I file first spouse will loose it and make process miserabletry to go together and file on your own, you will save a lot of money and it will go much faster | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/03/25 05:35 PM

You suffering is not her punishment.Well the last time I was without her was 20 years ago when I was a young man and had friends. I made sacrifices over the years and drifted apart from my life before her. I put everything into her and the kids and stopped doing a lot of things i enjoyed to give more time to my family. Now I don't have friends and have drifted apart from my family not that I'm comfortable opening up to any of them because they don't understand and don't really offer support or to try to help. I am lost now because… | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/03/25 02:48 PM
You suffering is not her punishment.my ex wife is the only one who listens to me and cares unfortunately. She was my whole circle and now there isn't anyone else I feel comfortable opening up to. I'm trying to figure out how to change that. | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/03/25 07:57 PM
Would you stay for the kids or go?Either way it is going to suck, which do you think would suck less for you? | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/03/25 10:13 AM
This morning I filled the dishwasher and nobody told me that I had done it wrong.I'll talk all the negative things back because the positive over the course of our marriage outweighed the negative. She doesn't see it that way which is why we're divorced. I'm broken. I hate being in a silent house where my family used to be. I hate my new life much more than I hated any time with her. I'm just trying to hang on and get by to be here for my kids and my dogs. Other than that, I am dead inside. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/03/25 12:00 PM

Ailmentsthanks, I am talking to a therapist once a week and I've seen more doctors for different things in the past few years, I have medication for the anxiety attacks, but I'm with the VA and they can't seem to send that medication. So I've been without for 2 weeks. I tried to go to church yesterday and started having an anxiety attack walking in and fought through one the whole service. I'm embarrassed, people know me there and they know me as being married with a family. Now I'm all alone and I can'… | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/09/24 08:25 PM
Finalized todayHopefully, I'll come around, but right now, I don't want to be around anyone, but I don't want to be alone either. I hate this feeling. | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/08/24 12:22 AM
I've been divorced for 3+ years, and still feel as lost as I did since day one. When and how did things start getting better for you all?I'm interested to hear too. Mine isn't final but it's been in process for 2.5 years. But I'm the same way, slow downward spiral and I don't have anyone. No friends and I'm not close to my family and don't want to be | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/08/24 07:10 PM
Nearing DivorceI've accepted most of the pain from ending the relationship but I am terrified about how I'm going to come out of this and what my options will be for living arrangements. I have mental health issues and need routine. I want to buy another house without a roommate because I have only a couple of single friends and I try to avoid them as it is I sure as hell don't want to live with them. Then there's my parents and i already tried that and it was awful for my mental health i'd rather live in my c… | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/09/23 05:20 PM
Nearing DivorceI would love to but I'm still living with her until it's final. I think it will be a long time because I don't know what my living situation is going to be cost of living went up a lot and it's killing me ill probably have to get a roommate and rent they only let you have certain small breeds. I'd hate to get a puppy and get attached and then have nowhere to live it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/09/23 08:53 PM
Nearing Divorce34 man that is a long time, I can understand though I buried my head in the sand our whole marriage. I don't think she ever actually loved me or even really knows how to love someone. It was all fake. and like you mine wanted out for a long time and was just looking for a reason | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/09/23 07:06 PM
Nearing DivorceI'm sorry man I'm glad my kids are older I would not handle that well either. Just remember your kids really love you they may not know how to express it but it would crush them and not just in the short term it messes them up for life. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/09/23 07:01 PM
Nearing DivorceThank you all for responding. I hope to be happy again some day. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/09/23 08:58 AM
Dad committed Suicide after parents divorce of 18 years.as a father of of two girls going through a divorce that I don't want and dealing with my mental health issues which have included a lot of thoughts of suicide and having to talk myself out of it. Thank you for sharing your story it is encouraging for me. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/07/23 07:26 PM
My ex-wife is talking pretty serious about suicide and I have no idea what I am supposed to do with that information. You gotta be there for her for your son's sake and hopefully help her find the right help. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/07/23 09:38 PM
Divorced at 32 - red flag?No most adults have been divorced . I can relate I'm at 15 years of marriage and getting divorced and I gave up everything for her and now I'm alone and she doesn't want to move but I won't be able to afford to live here. So now I'll probably have to move out of state away from my kids. Or I go live with my parents which I tried initially and was really bad for my mental health. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/07/23 09:25 AM
I’m 29 and feel like my wife is abusiveYou gotta man up now and squash it with a civil conversation. I am now 43 and I'm facing divorce with 15 years of marriage and 2 girls. Don't let it get to where I'm at. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/06/23 11:47 PM
