Moving out pre divorce and figuring out how to budget…We were already planning to do the 50/50 split time for the kids as soon as I move out. We’ve been discussing a 5-2-2-5 arrangement. So I would be getting a rental that accommodates my kids and me. Wonder if that changes things? But yeah…will def consult with a lawyer. | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/05/22 12:02 AM

I'm Doing It - I'm Getting a 2nd OpinionNot sure where in MN you are, but I’m in a similar situation and looking for a good lawyer. Did you switch and how did it turn out? | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/05/22 11:13 AM
Mediation StalemateI realize this is an older post. I’m currently in a similar situation regarding spousal support in MN. Any update on how things turned out for you? Any advice/lessons learned that you can share? | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/05/22 11:07 AM

Buying or renting? We are about to retain attorneys. I’m kinda waiting for her to go first. She wants the divorce more than me but I’ve come to accept it at this point. An attorney I consulted with suggested I get a new car (since I had been contemplating one already…) as that would factor into my monthly expenses when it comes time to determine the spousal support amount. Wife has been at home for many years now so I’ve been the only one making money. Was thinking maybe the mortgage would work the same way. I’ll … | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/02/22 12:32 AM
Buying or renting?Yes early phase. Wife has said we are def doing 50/50 and I want that too. There are no custody issues which is good. Our sons are 12 and 14 so she gladly will hand them over 50% of the time… | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/02/22 12:10 AM
Buying or renting?Yeah great point. We do have enough for a down payment and could pay both mortgages for a time (on what will remain as her home) and then my new home. The mortgage would basically be the same as monthly rent in the area I live in. Also wondering how this additional cost could factor into the potential alimony since I’ll be on the hook for that forever. Been married 20 years… Obv will check with an attorney too. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/02/22 11:58 PM
