One of my Besties is Manga & Anime Fangirl x 10,000 Some of the series she's watched or read so many times she can quote whole episodes or books from memory. I'm not into that stuff but all that knowledge impresses me like crazy.... and because I know she knows what she's talking about it seriously pisses me off when we're at a convention and some idiot scrote tries to mansplain at her or talk down to her.

I have never seen a relationship that includes BDSM be healthy or happy. I've watched so many people be damaged by kink there's just no way it is a sustainable practice. There's a huge difference between a little wild sex between loving partners and the degradation and abusiveness that comes with BDSM. "Vanilla" is fine.... "vanilla" is awesome if you're doing it right

My husband has two female friends and the rest of his buddies are dudes.... I like the ratio. I was introduced to the female friends early on and I like both of them they're cool people there's no weirdness or inappropriate stuff going on there. I don't think I could deal with my partner having nothing BUT female friends... that would be odd and I'd wonder why no men wanted to hang out with him.

My husband asked me what I wanted to do about the name thing and I said I was keeping mine. No big deal. He still has his hyphenated last name from his previous marriage and kept it because he shares that name with his kids. For maybe an hour after he first asked we both toyed with the idea of creating a last name based on a mashup of his original last name and mine ...but there was no combination of my very Scottish name and his very Norwegian one that didn't sound like you're having a stroke w…

I never went to college. Period. All the fields I was interested in like history and literature do NOT make great money. I went straight from high school into being a truck driver. I made bank and a trucker's lifestyle allows you to have few bills and save most of your income. In my 20s college boys I dated would try to belittle me for my lack of schooling. Fuck 'em!! I'd just laugh at them....through curiosity and self education on my favorite subjects I know a hell of a lot of esoteric shite, …

This is probably TMI but.... I shave everything but the pubic hair and I really do prefer the hairless leg and underarm feel. I've grown out both leg and armpit hair a few times and I just do NOT care for it. However ....my muff gets the "salon treatment" 😹 I trim it down a bit and color it all the colors I want on my head but can't have because of work. So right now I've got the mermaid fade from purple to blue on my crotch. I've been doing this for.... decades... used to put Manic Panic down t…

I live in the Northwest USA 1 A lot of people have the idea that the USA is good to women.... on the surface and compared to restrictive and overtly religious countries .... sure. Women appear to have all the freedoms here but there's always a subtle male curb on our behavior and actions. For instance most women I know don't want to drive alone at night... there's no law against it and women do it but even myself who's kind of a badass knows that it's not smart to be out by yourself at night bec…

I liked to look for what I call "half-ass cleaning" way back when I was dating For instance.... the kitchen is clean but up under the stove hood isn't, or the microwave is dirty inside. Or they have a ceiling fan that isn't wiped down and got dusty. I'm super picky about my house and I could NOT have had a long term relationship with someone who didn't have the same level of cleanliness I do.

Right!! I have some family heirloom jewels that are beyond stunning and that's my standard for myself. I buy myself Victorian garnets, emerald anything that looks good, and Art Nouveau enamel pieces and the occasional modern thing like slooowly collecting some Stephen Webster jewels ( gorgeous but only one a year dammitt because they're a bit high priced ) Fortunately my husband knows what I like and he buys me jewelry of the same class. I wouldn't accept any less.

IF that were my style and what I wanted..... sure. It's all about what makes YOU happy. ( One of my Besties would like this she likes minimal small rings and only ever wears rose-gold jewelry ) BUT.... that's not my style. And I wouldn't wear that. My husband knows my taste and what I like best, he's never given me a bad or thoughtless gift. He watches what I buy for myself, he listens to what I say is pretty or things I say I want. My husband and I are both on the same page with the childfree. He has two college age daughters already and got a vasectomy after the 2nd child, he and his ex-wife had a firm plan about "only 2 kids" and then he got snipped. I have some weird genes that potentially make any child I would have subject to a short life of suffering so all my life I intended to either never have any or adopt. I'm actually disappointed now that I've found him, if I had met him earlier we definitely would have adopted…

Tried the CdG Black Pepper .... didn't care for it... a little too much musk and patchouli and not enough pepper. Thistle & Black Pepper by Scottish Fine Soaps Company is a better one in my opinion because the amber & other fragrance notes don't overpower the pepper note. If you want to get samples of niche perfumes try Luckyscent.com or Twistedlily.com, lots of uncommon brands on those two sites. Damn right. Half my scents are "men's cologne" I got stuck on Creed's "Original Santal" because my dad always wore that... it smells good on anyone and I'm kinda addicted to Spicebomb as a finishing spritz over Demeter Black Pepper body lotion/washing my hair in Black Pepper shower gel. Tom Ford for Men is another good one. If you're into woody scent or peppery scent men's cologne usually has those tones in it.

I typically don't think about it much. It came up on our first real date kinda as a joke.... we'd had a very casual first meeting at a bar through a relative of his...and he said he thought I was too young for him at first until he realized from things I referenced in conversation that my childhood was in the 80s. Then he told me his birthday and his age and asked if it bothered me. It didn't at the time. It still doesn't really bother me.... unless like today, I read a comment that puts the act…

My LVM ex has been cut out of my life, blocked for years now but I still hear through mutuals occasionally that he's STILL bitching about me. 😹😹😹 I'm sure he'd come back in a heartbeat to my nice house and leeching off of me in return for being useless in bed and out of it. I've found that LVM always chase after the super-glam, heavy makeup short skirt type of woman, but then insist their own female partner be more conservative or neg her when she's all fancy dressed. It's pure projected insecurity.... they KNOW they don't measure up and don't deserve a hot and stylish woman. They want what they don't deserve to have. I'm watching the OLD debacle secondhand through a bar acquaintance today. She's in her mid-50s and trying to date again after 7 years of being widowed. She met a guy from Bumble at the nice Thai place down the street from our regular hangout. It's an upscale bistro and really good food so a good first date place. BUT.... the guy was missing teeth! My married Bestie and her dude worked out a "Mommy Contract" stating that he'd pay her a monthly salary to her own bank, pay for her to get a new car, cover the childcare costs and a whole bunch of other stuff. A prenup is 100% a great idea. For example my property and assets are worth about five times what the assets my husband brought to the marriage are worth. I had all this before I even met him. It's mine and in the event of a divorce I wanted a legal document detailing that. We did crazy paperwork on both ends before we married, new wills, prenups for both of us. It's just smart if you're going into a legal partnership like marriage to make sure you protect what's yours. My married Bestie went on…

The things you listed as "HV" qualities are honestly just the bare minimum for being a decent human. The bar really is in hell when washing yourself and brushing your hair is considered anything but NORMAL....it's definitely not "exceptional" or HV to be clean and smell nice. If I had to tell a guy "You smell, go shower" or remind them to brush their hair I'd start feeling like their mom. I have to thank my mom and Nana for always encouraging me to do what I liked best. It really confused me when I wasn't around my family that other people expected me to only have one side to me. If I liked matchbox cars I couldn't like My Little Ponies. If I wanted to be fancy then I couldn't EVER play rough and get dirty.…

Because we know our worth and they can’t stand it. It’s pathetic. Absolutely! If we know we look good and act like it we get called conceited. Like women aren't "allowed" to have any pride .... not only about our looks, but they love to belittle our accomplishments and skills... anything to keep us down.

Nothing puts a bigger smile on my face than some other lady complimenting me. It's never intrusive or creepy and it's always an exchange of compliments because I always give one back. I make a point of telling at least five random women I don't know something nice every day... in line at coffee, out shopping, women walking by when I'm having my after work beers. It's often more than five.... because y'all ladies are all so beautiful.

I never thought I'd get married... I had put marriage out of my mind so long that I didn't really have a wishlist for a proposal or any ideas about a ring. No yellow gold or diamond rings, I don't wear diamonds except for family heirloom ones. I told my dude those things up front when marriage first got mentioned between us. After that... well t…

Have you ladies noticed something.... Whenever someone points out in the comments about a celebrity's looks fading for a reason like cancer or mental health meds... Women feel bad for ripping on someone with cancer damage or other such causes of a decline in looks. Men who rip on women's looks are NEVER that understanding. You're expected to look like a supermodel while you're in chemo treatment or dealing with the side effects of treating your mental health. And yet men say we have no empathy. …

Val Kilmer 😭😭😭 I got the biggest crush on him as Madmartigan in Willow when I was 10 years old. Yeah I was going to say.... using your good looks for bartending isn't as bad as OnlyFans but it does have its own dangers. You're still selling flirting for tips so the men think YOU are also for sale. When I was slinging drinks dudes would wait til close and try and catch me alone locking up or walking to my car sooooo many times. You're welcome. It didn't used to be very common, a domme and her sub used to do financial things more in a "sugar daddy" kind of way, he'd buy expensive gifts but they were almost always geared to his pleasure like shoe fetish stuff or kinky outfits. I've been out of the loop about 5 years and only on the fringe of BDSM but it looks like "findom" has gotten a pretty big following now. Financial domination. The men usually are called "pay pigs" and part of the kink is getting the women to talk about them online saying how much they paid. In theory it's about a man giving you all his money to do what you want with. In practice, you'll be buying the lingerie HE wants to see you in and getting your nails done in HIS favorite color and other such things because he really only wants control of you. One of the few times I dommed online I took the guy's money and bought my car new ti…

Some of the kinksters I know now have legal age children. And not just because it'd be weird to see mommy & daddy wearing kink gear. My two favorite music scenes often overlap the BDSM kink world. So....after attending many fetish events and watching from the sidelines and early on occasionally participating as a domme... here are my observations based on roughly 17 years experience. ( This will be a long one ) BDSM does not ever lead to happy healthy relationships for anyone involved. Introduce heavy kink to a relationship and all you end up with is cycles of drama and stress with occasional breaks for an orgasm. ( usually o…

In work situations I wait until they've run out of steam, not replying or acknowledging them.... then I use polite phrases like "It seems like you're having trouble mastering the finer points of this concept would you like me to summarize the bare basics for you?" ... levels of sarcasm can be varied to suit the situation but I like to put on a "genuinely trying to help the slow person" smile and tone of voice just to drive the point home. In social situations.... I've found just walking away in …

I grew up with a younger sister who is literally Barbie. Tall, blonde, busty and pretty face. I'm shorter, sharp featured and less curvy. I got compared to my beautiful sister by some men, and told I was the beautiful one by other men. The whole mess of it was TO KEEP BOTH SISTERS INSECURE. ( Thank all the gods my mother would tell off anyone who compared us when we were children and always let us know we were both beautiful... it gave us both the foundation of strength to ignore what is now "ne…

I think it's about building up the passion. My personal examples would be petting my hair and then the sweet loving kind of kisses, then the REAL passionate kisses if we're starting from just doing the typical kind of day together stuff. That will 99.9% of the time get us to the bedroom where it's all down to mood really.... maybe I want a wild ride....maybe I want slow and sensual, I never know til I get there. 😹 It's not the same starter for everyone so basically it's good if the dude is doing…

In the South it is... my mom, both grandmas and sooooo many women in my hometown had a mom's/grandma's ring or a charm bracelet with all the kids' or grandkids' birthstones and names or initials on it. It really is a very sweet tradition because it's usually given on Mother's Day and typically the dads and the kids or the grandpas and the kids pick it out together as soon as the youngest kid is old enough to have an opinion.

Of all the people who were my grandparents friends this really was the norm. All the husbands took a tiny fraction of "spending cash" and the rest was for the wife to run the house with. You were actually looked down on if your wife didn't have access to your pay envelope or your checkbook. Yes, adhering to both gender roles so strongly often left the people out who weren't geared for them, and it put heavy burdens on BOTH sexes. ....and this fictional narrative modern dudes cling to of the subm…

These males hyping "traditional roles" always have no clue. He was trying to explain inflation to me.... in 1986 he said he was NOW keeping a whole $20. 😹😹😹

There has got to be that spark for me... I feel like there's no point in dating someone or having a relationship with someone if you don't have mutual desire and attraction. Ways to make decent money without sex work.... Go be a truck driver. Not even kidding. If you can drive a car, you can learn to drive a big truck. That was my first career, I made bank. A very unwise man must have made that quote about not calling yourself doctor unless you delivered a baby... Every field has the higher educated group who earned the right to be called doctor.... there are preachers who went to so much school they use Doctor instead of Pastor ... just to name ONE field. If you've done the school and put in the work and your degree says PhD or doctorate you've got the right to be addressed that way. Period.

AAA is hands down the best roadside service out there... check your cellphone plan and car insurance plan and see if you can get a deal on it through either I get mine for $5 extra a month on my phone bill. You should definitely learn to change a tire and make sure your car has a tire kit with all parts working and in good order... you need a jack, tire iron, heavy duty work gloves, lug wrench, and roadside flares .... also I recommend getting a full size spare if your car didn't come with one, …

I hate how the world STILL perpetuates the idea that men shouldn't cook and clean. My dad didn't learn how to until he married my mom. My grandmother used to go to his bachelor apartment and clean up after dad and his roommate and leave him casseroles even when he was in his last year of college. So until my mom got a hold of him he'd never done a load of laundry, washed a dish, made dinner... not once in his life. My mom used to joke about "I should have gotten a puppy, not gotten married, pupp…

We've got a Ruth Chris Steakhouse and the Typhoon chain here too and just.... no. I want little bistros or something cool, good ambiance, small dining areas. My grey kitty was horribly abused before I got her... someone starved her, and they tried to dock her tail by using rubber bands so it had to be removed, she was underweight, the shelter had dealt with a bad flea problem and infected bites... her whole body had sores and was shaved up to her belly. I don't think it matters AS much when you're older to have an age gap...but it does present its own set of problems and it still does matter. You might be strong and solid in your 30s, much more so than your college years but the compatibility with someone older will be hard to match up. My biggest fear is honestly something bad happening to either my family, friends, cats or my dude & his daughters. I worry like hell all the time these days for my sister who is in the medical field. Marriage wasn't even in my plans until this year ( at age 42 ).... never bothered me that I hit my 40s unmarried.... a little loneliness is far better than being legally stuck to a worthless dude.

That's a good rule to have. Sorry I think I'm just speaking from "Happy Good Sex Land".... my dude has figured out all of my "spots" and the things that will get me very fired up very quickly and get me off just as fast. And there have been times when for whatever reason things weren't really working with the quickie so we just give up and save it for slow and sweet later when we have more time. Nobody should be having bad non-fulfilling sex.

It's taking me longer to find it than I thought but I'll keep digging..... there was a GREAT book of emergency roadside fixes that was put out in the middle 90s and it's priceless for tips and tricks on how to deal with common issues while you're alone/have no proper tools etc. I'll post you the link when I finally find it.

I'm glad you're single now!!! Even if your car doesn't have issues.... do as many of the "small basics" as you can learn and you're comfortable with. Fluid refills, filter changes, replacing headlamp bulbs.... things like that. It'll get you used to messing about with your car. Also get or download the Chilton / Haynes manual for your particular car. Most beginner car fixers I know say those are the easiest to understand at their level. I didn't realize for a long time that typically when a man says "You're so much better at X than me" .... that it isn't a real compliment to your skills, it's a ploy to get you to take on stuff they don't feel like doing. I heard "You're the better cook. Everything turns out better when you do laundry. I like the baton idea... Especially when combined with the vintage martial art of "singlestick" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singlestick You can't just go grab a baton and flail about with it and expect results... you gotta know WHERE to hit and HOW to hit for maximum effect .... BUT... you take your baton, look up or get taught singlestick moves ( including parries ) and you go whack a board in your yard for a few months until you have three parries and three attacks down to "muscle memory" yo…

Believe me I know and that little trend is absolute bullshit. I advocate for women learning self defense, hell I advocate for women learning how to be badasses but with the caveat that you have to work with your body and your strengths for the maximum effect. Generally men are stronger and faster, but women are more flexible and have a higher pain tolerance. That's science and over many years of doing martial arts I can confidently say the science proves true. There ARE definitely tried and prov…

A lot of what you say I agree with. I really wish people would stop saying just go get a knife or a gun. It's not that simple and a knife or gun could potentially harm an untrained person worse. Getting a knife or a gun doesn't automatically make you Wonder Woman grade badass.

Oh you're not wrong. Pepper spray can be taken from you and used against you, but there's less of a chance with it and if it does happen the effects are less bad than being shot with your own gun. I really do NOT think anyone who isn't well trained should carry a gun for self defense. A gun is a great equalizer to someone being bigger than you, IF you know what you're doing. I advocate like hell for women to learn how to use and maintain guns properly though. Take some training, and go get your …

Yes!! Learn self defense!!! Just the "Basic Self Defense for Women" classes are going to give you confidence and get you used to being physically aggressive. It really does make a difference if you're ever in a situation where you need to protect yourself. And I advocate big time for women to carry pepper spray and those mini air horns. Orange Bitters is basically orange & amber heavy on the amber, very citrussy at first then gets deeper and richer when it dries down. You are very right.... Just critters liking a man is no serious guarantee that he's a good human and also good DUDE that you should be with. I actually never intended to have another pet... too much heartbreak after losing my 18 year old dog I'd had since she was a baby pupper. The cats were honestly just a last-straw solution to my house's mouse problem after traps and absolutely everything else I tried failed. My little grey baby was abused before I got her and she's always been a scaredy cat. She usually hides when she hears a male voice. "The New Dude" has spent the past 10 months trying to win her trust, being so gentle and dealing with her reaction to being startled which is usually to claw the shit out of someone. Some STDs go dormant, some are hard to pinpoint. Some don't give you symptoms until it's too late. There's so many STDs out there and too many people don't take enough care. So many reasons why it's important to take care of your sexual health. My lady parts doc suggested to me in my late 20s that even if I wasn't active that I should still think about doing a yearly STD test with my basic first of the year checkup. Seriously!!! I like to think I'm open-minded but after years of watching the BDSM "scene" from the sidelines... No one is happy and healthy. There's so much drama, trouble and pain. And I have never, not ONCE, seen a "BDSM couple" have a healthy and happy relationship. This applies to the ones where the woman is the dominant too. It's just endless cycles of misery and kinky sex. The men who are "dominant" are 99.9% just abusive controlling assholes who use BDSM as a way to excuse their actions. …

Alright here's the scoop about the old-fashioned kind of Pond's cleansing cream. ( Via my mother about 34 years ago, so this is how I do it ) Wash and DRY your hands first.... then... Put your finger in the Pond's and put a big fingerfull of it on each cheek, your chin, your forehead and a smaller bit of goop on your nose. I had this "shower thought" after watching The Social Dilemma on Netflix that the modern "plugged in" culture is killing real friendships and people's ability to even form real friendships. My three besties and I all met in the early 2000s back when you had to put in way more effort to connect and be a friend. I haven't raised anyone from "Acquaintance" status since 2003. Oh definitely, I don't know why I didn't replace the robes with the towels. Last year after I finally got my master bath finished like I wanted it I went nuts on linens.... the big fluffy bath sheets, the hand embroidered display hand towels, custom made bath mats.... and yet I kept the same old bathrobes. Gotta fix that.

I'm over here doing my part to bring back hats! There's just something about hatting up that gives you an instant ego-boost and extra spark. And I'm right there with you about GOOOOOD coffee... I have a certain kind I like, it's $$$$$$ and no, I won't drink anything else at home. Starbucks is ok for a quickie-coffee-pick-me-up while I'm out, but that's only if I've run out of my giant travel mug of The Good Stuff.

Ooooh! Thanks. It occurred to me my bathrobes are all kinda old and frumpy. I need a thick plushy fancy one!

Kate Spade is the only designer I'll ever buy a purse from again.... my "big black" and my "little black" are both over 8 years old and been put through hard use and they still look good, no broken straps, no torn linings. I also like that the logo is inside with the lining, I'm not a fan of flashing designer labels everywhere.

Now that it's getting to be fall... I'm spending money on my personal "fall necessities" so..... Cashmere sweaters!! I buy one whenever I see a new pretty design or really great color. Found this gorgeous greyed lavender twinset at a vintage store, can't wait to wear it. Fancy gloves, for when it gets colder... really loving the printed velvet ones a friend sent me so I ordered more colors of them. ( Check out the Polonova website, they have gorgeous socks too, I might have gone overboard and bo…

Green or hazel eyes is a BIG thing for me. Instantly +10 attraction. Elegant hands.... this probably sounds like I'm a serial killer but I loooooove big hands with proportionately long slim fingers. Bonus if they like to wear rings for accent factor. A guy who can sport 2-3 rings at a time and make it look good is hot. Nice legs, with definition but NOT that gym-bro bulky calves weird shit. If your calves are as big as your thighs maybe it's TIME to skip leg day, dude. A little bit of soft chest…

I'm 42. Spent age 39-40 intentionally staying single and was pretty happy with myself and my life. That should have told me something..... but... I spent my 40th year trying to date again and... holy hell... dudes still "dating" in my age range are 99.9% batshit, balls to the wall absolute CRAZY. Plus lazy, rude, crude, entitled, boring and just generally useless. I did every version of dating, blind dates with acquaintances of people I know, joined a "busy singles meet-up group", tried OLD ....…

"You look good for your age" is one of the shittiest things you can say to someone, but damn if men don't think that's the ultimate compliment.

Absolutely not alone. I loved this movie and it hit when I turned 13. I watched it and said "I want to BE her" ( Morticia ) Later rewatchings and the Addams Family Values movie gave me more of the idea that a Gomez was what I wanted to be with. It's not too much to ask for to want a well dressed man who loves to dance, loves weird stuff and loves ME.

Good for her!!! My mom and I both loved Enya. Her music gave me some of the sweetest memories I have of my mom from my high school days.... it was our little "thing" ....driving around together with the Shepherd Moons CD turned all the way up and both of us singing along.

Was just introduced to this sub by my best friend tonight. Fell down the rabbit hole reading the handbook all night and I'm loving it. I'm 42, and I've always been a called a "bitch" or "undateable" or "stuck up" and been threatened with "You'll be one of those crazy cat ladies when you're old" ... simply for the fact that I'm choosy, I know what I want AND I know what I won't put up with. That seems to be just too hard for most men to handle. It's awesome to get the feedback that being picky an…
