"why aren’t you defending women" The funny thing here is that they except men to defend women too. Since they split men into two categories. One category being for the good guys or heroes/protectors who are male feminists defending them. And other category is for the bad guys or incel misogynists.
/r/EverydayMisandry11/05/24 10:13 PM

But they love it when male feminists defend them. Even when the male feminists are being the same pick me's they claim to hate.

This is why the term "real man" and "positive masculinity" still exist in Progressive and feminist circles.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/05/24 02:06 PM

Yep won't feel bad if something happens to them.

They're just interested in promoting female interests, This would be fine. If they didn't try to get female best interests via male self sacrifice and men not caring about their issues. I'm sure there are ways they can get female best interests without relying on men to not care about male issues. But I'm sure they are going to say men need to use their male privilege to help women. Despite them also saying women are strong and independent. And women have gotten far with feminism without the hel…

If women still hold on to the beliefs that good men should protect women. Then they are major hypocrites. Why would you expect the bad skittles to protect you in dangerous situations. When you can't tell the difference between good men and bad men. That's women still expecting male strangers to risk their lives for them. That's the shit that frustrates me the most about the Bear/Skittles/M&Ms/candy/muffin analogy. Women say they can't trust men because they are statistically more dangerous. So t…

Yep this is true. We all think this. Feminists tend to be against draft registration overall, and some feminists groups such as the National Organization for Women have even tried to make women eligible for Selective Service, but I’ve realised that other feminists openly switch their ideologies when it comes to war (they suddenly claim that women shouldn’t be forced to fight because they’re needed to regrow the population - the problem is, unless women were conscripted to give birth, that would …

This plays into the issues of men being viewed as monsters, and less valuable to society. When women have this contradiction game with these 3 narratives. It's similar to when women say they don't need men because they are independent. But still expect men to be protectors. Again women being flip floppy with these expectations when it's convenient is harmful to men. You can't say how women are morally better, more valuable (giving birth), and prettier than men. But in the same breath say how all…

If genders are reversed. All of sudden men are incels wishing violence on women. But it's fine when women do it. Because they are oppressed. And misandry is just a response to hundreds of years of misogyny blah blah.

It's interesting how both use homophobia to keep men in check. I have seen both tradcons and progressives call MGTOW closeted gay men for not being obsessed with getting validation from women. It's only hypocritical with the progressive/ feminists, do it because of stuff like them being more likely to be LGBTQ allies. It's almost like both are different sides of the same coun.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates06/05/24 11:43 PM

Yep MGTOW is something that would upset both tradcons and feminists. Since MGTOW doesn't uphold the status quo when it comes to male gender roles.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates06/05/24 11:34 PM
8

I agree. It's why I have over time formed the view that men's liberation is men going their own way. Not needing validation is not being inside whatever box others are trying to place you in. I one billion times agree with this.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates06/05/24 10:56 PM
9

Yep at the end of the day positive masculinity is no different from traditional or toxic masculinity. It still does the job of putting men into a box to uphold the status quo.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates06/05/24 10:48 PM
30

9:50 "for the good of others, for the good of society as a whole" There you have it folks. Positive masculinity was never about men's mental health. Positive masculinity is always about what men can do for women, kids, and society. Not for themselves. This is why I call positive masculinity a progressive version of traditional masculinity. Where men are still put into a box to get validation from others. Different toilet, but same shit when it comes to positive masculinity vs traditional masculi…

Society responded to women's struggles by empowering them to make whatever choices they wanted. Society's responding to men's struggles by concluding it's our nature to be unhappy if we're not being shoved in a box. IMO, there's not many worse ways to insult a group of people. This sums it up perfectly.

the world leaders and CEO's are men. This is the apex fallacy. I 80 percent agree with you. Buttt.. Here's the 20 percent. Hate to make it personal. But when it comes to dating preferences. Even women and feminists themselves go after the men at the top of the apex hierarchy. Because even progressive women with successful careers still expect men to adhere to traditional gender roles like being a provider, being ambitious, and being financially successful. Even more successfully than themselves,…

Ugh... another one... So tired of the "we need a positive role model for men" angle. This bugs the hell out of me a lot. It's annoying as the "they are not real men, they are boys" BS you usually hear from tradcons and some feminists. No all men are real men. That includes bad men too. Bad men like abusers or rapists are still real men. Calling them boys takes away accountability from them. It's no different when feminists weaponizing homophobia, by calling misogynistic men closeted gay men. Bec…

The interesting thing here is. That there is a double standard. Where women are more likely to be chauvinistic because of their trauma. Men are not allowed to use trauma as an excuse for sexism. For example an incel could have tons of unprovoke bad experiences with women. But nobody would try to justify that incel hatred for women.

That's fine with me. I have a lot of feminist views. But I don't tell women this in real life, especially feminists. Because I want to avoid these two reactions from feminsits. < I really don't understand how we can be against gender roles for women but not have anything to say on the recent widespread trend of expecting men to be masculine and be a 'provider'. The thing that ignores me the most is not feminists not caring about issues. I like how these women are writing off any man that disagrees with them as creepy because they feel like the shoe fit. But let a man be indifferent or neutral to them. All of a sudden that man is automatically on the side of the oppressor, because he is not disagreeing or agreeing. You can't make this shit up. By that same logic white women shouldn't be offended by the blatant misogyny associated with the term Karen. Since that just proves a part of them are racists. With their white women tears…

You would think if the fear was rational. These women would move out of this man-made society. And move in the woods with bears. So they would feel safe from the violent men.

The funny thing is they feel entitled to more than the bare minimum. Because they consider men risking their life to protect women is the bare minimum.

It trivializes every good man in existence. I have never done anything to hurt any woman, nor will I ever do so unless I need to do so in self defense. Demonizing bad men is one thing - demonizing all men for the actions of some men is an ecological fallacy at best. Making good men feel like shit for the actions of bad men helps NO ONE, all it does is make it more difficult to be a good man. Like yes, men are disproportionately depraved, let's make their mental health even worse. The thing that …

What I hate the most is the fact that they view men as a weapon when it is convenient to them. One day men are told they are toxic masculinity and violent, and compare to walking talking weapons. But the next day men are told to be used as weapons to protect women, because it's positive masculinity. What do you guys do when you feel the world hates you? When everyone is afraid of you? So what I do, is by not taking them seriously. You see how hypocritical they can be. So I don't try to feel too …

It’s quite the mindfuck the often contradictory messages they are constantly sending to men. This indeed. This comment explains this way better than me. Lol. Men are also toxic masculinity for having that physical strength, because it makes women uncomfortable. First all of these fathers are projecting themselves onto other men. Because they were like that when they were younger. These would probably be the same type of men that would probably call me gay in high school or college for not sexualizing women. It's almost as if society hasn't fully understood that asking men to be more vulnerable and in touch with their emotions only works if society is going to care. Because when society doesn't care and these boys/men have exhausted themselves to be heard and to receive compassion but are ridiculed and told they don't deserve to have those feelings ;that they end up turning those emotions into much more dangerous ones. The thing that pissed me off the most. Is that they say this nonsense when it comes to men protecting women. Saying that the worse men have to worry about is being called a simp or white knight. Knowing dam well that men's lives are at a bigger risk than women usually in these situations.

Yep. It's either two things. They are just being inflammatory to get attention by making men mad. And even get attention from male pick me feminists to be validated. Or they have an irrational fear. Because they watch too many movies, true crime stories, or are told by their conservative/ feminist dad how violent and gross men are their whole life. I won't be surprised if a huge chunk of these women are either being inflammatory or irrational.

It's really convenient that she said men created this system (the patriarchy). But yet she thinks the expectation to protect women is not oppressive for men. And probably thinks it's a good thing (I.E. "positive masculinity"). So therefore she likes certain parts of the system that benefit her and other women. Almost like a socialist benefits from getting a lot of expensive things.

Not quite. There is usually a big uproar when men decide to start avoiding women. Classic example of some women wanting to have it both ways. They don't understand that they need to make some sacrifices in order to live in a progressive society. Don't want catcallers, men always hitting on women, and male strangers always trying to talk to women in public. Then stop expecting real life to be a romantic movie where men have to be the ones to approach women first, always pursue women, and always "…

The funny thing is that they can probably better defend themselves off against a violent man in the woods than a bear. Kick a guy the balls, kill a man with a weapon. No human has a defense for a bear. Even bears take gunshots lol.

. I don't want to play that head game with me. Want my attention, talk to me without stupid games. Bingo I stopped taking this topic seriously. And I said I don't care if the woman chooses the bear. If you want to be with the bear then go. A couple of women give me side eyes for this. 😂😂 It's just a game to get men's attention. Whether they get off on making men mad. Or wanting the pick me male feminists to come give them validation. Or both. It's more likely both lol.

It's F up that these women are low key accusing the men who disagree with them of being abusers. Implying that any man that disagrees would harm a woman in the woods alone. I was told the same thing too.

But yet in a dangerous situation. They still expect random male strangers to risk their lives to save or protect women they don't know. Even though they view the random male strangers as potential rapists, because they don't know them. But they know these male strangers enough, that they can expect them to be superheroes. 🤦

I agree too. But we need to normalize men being neutral to women's beauty, in society though. Men often are judge when they don't acknowledge how hot a woman is. They are called gay, by a lot of women too.

I won't be surprised if most of their views on dangerous men are based on stereotypes. Change the analogy to two men. Chris Brown, and Rowan Atkinson. And they didn't know Chris Brown history (albeit history doesn't even stop or scare a lot of women who still want to engage with him) And all of a sudden women would be more likely to pick Chris Brown over Rowan Atkinson because of the halo effect. Lot of conservative women are often outspoken feminists. Hilarious thing here is that even liberal feminists themselves point this out about conservative women. The irony of him is he's all about helping men (from the feminist pov) but perpetuates to…

Check out Dr. Curry after reading this. He had a really good take on black men when it comes to manhood. But a really popular YouTuber called FD has a different opinion though. Where has this sub gone to if your bitter comment is upvoted to this degree, given you said "Black men are the only group of men the left won't try to justify racism with" and "Imagine the left find a way to justify racism against black men on a large scale." I have never seen anyone on the left (in the general sense of "left") justify racism towards any group on the earth. Yet I have seen generalized homophobia among lefties exclusively targeting gay men and femme males. This comparison of 'jus…

Off-topic but still kinda on topic here though. But Black men are the only group of men the left won't try to justify racism with. When it comes to attacking men for physical features or non physical features they can't change about themselves. I mean when it comes to body positivity and body shaming men. The left makes jokes about men having small dicks, making fun of men for being short or fat. This is ok because women are oppressed. And men are not oppressed. Even gay men are not safe from th…

And the funny thing is that your preference is based on something physical or tangible like height or something. While their preferences aren't even physical or visible. They can't know if a man is straight or bisexual. Unless they are ironically perpetuating stereotypes about bisexual men being feminine or untraditional masculine. Which would still be wrong too. But the thing is so many of them didn’t think for a second about what this might be like for men as a group, especially queer men. A lot of this stuff is said by bi women, who vastly out number bi men, so you can imagine how unwelcoming it is for many bi men, who already have to deal with general homophobia, to hear about how bad attraction to men is; it’s like a double whammy of misandry and homophobia. Of course it’s not just bad for bi men; I’ve seen this type of rhetoric come up towards gay …

This is another example of society still putting pressure on men to be traditional. And this stigma against bisexual men is no different. Men are still judged or look down upon for not being tall, assertive, confident, providers, protectors, and also heterosexual too. Because men are viewed as more masculine for having these traits or qualities. Even in progressive/liberal places men are still judged for not living up to these "masculine standards". It's a thing where people ask, "Do men even like women? "but I've been asking the reverse for a while When women makes these jokes. It's seen as ok. Because it's empowerment for straight or bi women to not show any sexual interest in men, despite that being the gender they are attracted to. It's called benevolent sexism. Benevolent sexism is the one thing that connects conservatism and feminism together. And the thing is most of the Feminists aren't even indifferent to male gender roles. They actually prefer to live in a society where men still follow their gender roles. I think there are two reasons why this happens. Reason 1 deep down inside they are subconsciously homophobic towards gay men or bisexual men. And reason 2 men are expected to be the chivalrous gender. Meaning they must always be nice to women, open doors for women, and think women are always right. (I.E. straight women and bisexual women not wanting to date bisexual men, because they view bi men as less masculine or not "real men")

Yeah and the sad thing is they only bring up male issues to fight feminists. They don't genuinely care about male issues. Only when it is convenient to gain a fanbase. Most of the time they are the ones perpetuating male issues or enforcing male issues.

I'll add that while most feminists are very vocal in their condemnation of TERFs. When it comes to implementing change there's almost always a TERF somewhere along the way that's going to make sure that this change is there to benefit women, and not men who identify as women. Because when there isn't there's always some guy who's going to identify as a woman to gain the benefits and a few non-TERF feminists will suddenly become self aware enough to recognize that this was never the goal. And the…

Great post. Very good analysis here. The interesting thing is you can bring up any crime women do more. And they won't use that as way downplay the men who commit the same crimes at a lower rate. Imagine if a man manipulated a woman with mental illness into killing his abusive mother, what kind of sentence would he face? Well just take a look at the Menendez brothers for the answer. Also it's funny that people always tell men to work on their insecurities before dating someone, but if you ever go outside, basically every woman is pretty overtly insecure even when you date them. You’re seeing contradictions because you’re taking three different ideologies and patching them together as if the same individual, a crazily cognitively dissonant woman is saying all three. Racial minorities are often incredibly racist (especially to other racial minorities) but they try to argue that they can't commit something they've so often been the victim of. This one doesn't make sense, because they are being racist to other racial minorities, (not even white people). So those racial minorities are also victims of oppression. And they are being racist. People like that are so annoying. Even when it comes to gender roles too. People act so surprised when they see men cook, or clean. They act like men doing things like a kid knowing how to brush their teeth for the first time. They say congratulations to men. This comes off as so condescending.

Isn't the Hugh Jackman in the blue shirt middle of the road? Jacked muscles would be one extreme and if he were wearing a dress it would be the other. I was using that picture to show toxic masculinity vs positive masculinity. Not necessarily for the ultra-masculine vs ultra-feminine point.

And it doesn't help that the same feminists still expect men to uphold certain gender roles. And disguise it as "positive masculinity" or "masculinity done right". Especially when it comes to men risking their lives to protect women from dangerous men. Even in that one cringe and preachy Gillette commercial. I saw this comment too. The analogy is so dumb. Because the analogy isn't even the right comparison or equivalent 😂. How did they go to pegging as a good analogy? There are some reasonable takes and threads on there. But then you have posts and threads like this. https://www.reddit.com/r/AskFeminists/s/pyY9UwNFUE Two things that are frustrating about this thread. 1: Men are expected to have sex too. So when they turn down sex from women they can get their sexuality and manhood question. Because again wanting sex is expected of men. This is the typical positive masculinity cringe that is just traditional masculinity under disguise. The same feminists would shame men for not risking their lives to save women in a dangerous situation where the woman is being attacked. They will call men cowards for not getting involved. While praising the men who get involved as "real men". Those same "real men" who can easily get killed like anyone else.

This type of BS also ironically plays into the slut shaming women have to deal with. And the homophobia bisexual men have to deal with too. Making it seem like having sex with men is some type of degrading thing that can happen to a woman or man. Hence men are turned off by women having a high body count. And women not wanting to date bisexual men. Both perpetuate the toxic idea of sex being something men should only do to virgin women, (not experienced women or other men).

I like this sub. Because it's the perfect middle ground between men's rights and men's lib. Men's rights can be too conservative-leaning. While men's lib can be too feminist leaning sometimes. This sub healthily talks about men's issues without shitting on women and blaming women for men's issues. And also without shitting on other men too by being one of the "good ones", and trying to make masculinity (toxic masculinity or positive masculinity) a solution for all men's issues.

This is right. Usually, some women would make emotions all about them, not the man. For example, when a woman tells a man to show emotions, they mean emotions like showing love or happiness towards them in the forms of gifts and affection. On the flip side, some women would consider it trauma dumping or whinging, if men were to start complaining about their personal problems like work, bad childhood experiences, or gender role pressure. The only negative emotion men are allowed to show is grief …

Yep, I remember that Trump and Putin meme too. Virgin shaming, prude shaming, and homophobia seem to be considered okay by people once it's done to men.

It's true that non incels males have caused far more violence toward women, than incels.

I have been saying this every time I see the word gay used as an insult.

Also gay is another insult used too.

All those are valid reasons too.

"Also, what do you mean men aren't expected to conform to gender roles? It's better now than in the 1900s, but it's still pretty bad. Girls wear pants every day but if a guy wears a skirt people will assume he is trans, gay, or a freak. Will probably even get him killed in some places" You are speaking facts here. It's not the 1990s anymore and 2023 isn't perfect. But what I mean by that is that maybe it would get better for men in the next 10 to 15 years when it comes to gender roles.

Good point. I made a post about this too. About people still expecting men to follow gender roles. While women usually get to break their gender roles on average. I should've been more detailed in my post. Because I was seeing this from the perspective of the future. Maybe in the future men will feel less pressure when it comes to gender roles. "they still want those men to initiate romance and marriage, pay for dates, provide and protect, etc." This is basically a meme at this point because of …

Did you read the title? Do you understand the word toxic? Did you read when I said contradictions? You do know people can still expect men to uphold gender roles that are negative right? And that's not even my whole point. The whole point of this post is people criticizing rigid gender roles. While still perpetuating gender roles. It's about hypocrisy. FFS, I even mention people not liking those gender roles. I just pointed out the hypocrisy and contradictions.

"Women, who are expecting sex from their partner, expect them to be sexually active. Hypersexual is someone who thinks about nothing but sex, whenever, where ever. They are not the same thing. No one is expecting men to be hypersexual. Being hypersexual is a negative thing." What part of toxic masculinity you do not understand? What part of people perpetuating gender roles you don't understand? This whole post is about people having views with contradictions. So anytime a man is a shame for turn…

It doesn't matter if there are differences. Either way, it's still expected of men. There is a difference between being a protector and an abuser. But most people would agree that being a protector is a gender role men must do. And some people would still consider those positive traits of masculinity toxic too, even despite being toxic. So yes being hypersexual is expected of men. And I never said there aren't any differences between hypersexual and sexual. Or assault and nonassault. You are bei…

A man being hypersexual is viewed as him being more masculine. It's one of the most simple traits expected of men. There are tons of stories from men talking about how women had negative reactions toward them turning down sex. Women who are wives, girlfriends, or even random women expecting hookups. All of them have had negative reactitowardards men turning down sex. Because it's a gender role for men to not turn down sex. And always want sex.

A man's sexuality is also tied to his manhood.
