Mysteriousness is an attractive quality.

I don't know... Some people have strange interests.

shrugs It might work with someone you've known for a bit, but I can see it getting old fast. I avoid texting because there's only so many things I can tell you, and I'd rather say them in person.

I agree, but I think things like The Mystery Method are a good starting point (and from reading the book, that's what it sounded like, just a starting point). They are the tools you can use to become that man. But just having tools doesn't make you a man. You have to know how to use them. You have to use them. You have to go out one day and fucking kill a wooly mammoth and drag that shit home, metaphorically speaking.

You might have luck with some of it. I don't want to be lucky: I want to be good. I've been taking and making opportunities to go out, but when I go out I forget everything I learned. How do I remember my new techniques so that I can get rid of my bad habits. I suppose it sounds like I'm asking how to learn, but yeah.

That's a good point. What exactly do you mean by your brain being in the best place?

Exactly! I'm glad someone said that better than I could have.

Those are good points, but I disagree with prioritizing yourself above others. I personally follow the Golden Rule. I want to be a leader, and a leader is a servant to those who follow him. Therefore, I guess the idea is that you want others to elevate you rather than elevating yourself. You do so by achieving influence over them, which is what this reddit is all about. Reading that, it sounds manipulative, but the difference between leading and manipulating is the difference between confidence …

I hate it when people downvote without offering a good reason. You people have contributed very little to the community but to discourage an individual seeking to better himself. That's a good thought, but I can't see a way for it to work without one seeming like a prick. That is unless you mean to climb the latter of life to the top of that pedestal. That last part seems a bit forced though, and I'd personally like to destroy a few people's pedestals. I'm not sure pedestal's are really a good t…

"As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives." -Henry David Thoreau

I kind of feel like being shameless and humble go hand in hand. If you have shame, you're proud. The opposite of pride is humility. Ergo, be humble, thus achieving shamelessness. I suppose I have developed my own definitions though.

I have two numbers and I haven't pulled the trigger on a specific date because I'm not sure what the protocol is for this stuff. Whenever you're unsure, don't be afraid to make a mistake (general rule of thumb). Fortune favors the bold! If you are genuine, then even if you screw things up it can still work out. You call the shots, dude. You make up the protocol. You play by your rules, because this is your game.

Shame is the bastard son of pride. Both are harmful and negative. Therefore, I say be humble and confident. Then you will win.

Shakespeare's MacBeth. Prince Malcolm says this to MacDuff after MacDuff hear's that MacBeth has killed his family. Sorry for the slow response. Another good quote along these lines is, "Never underestimate the healing power of hatred." That's from Rob Roy, which stars Liam Neeson. Great movie. Just remember; There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a …

"Be this the whetstone of your sword. Let grief Convert to anger; blunt not the heart, enrage it. O, I could play the woman with mine eyes, And braggart with my tongue!" At times like this, you have a lot of kinetic emotions. Use them. Find a way to better yourself, to sharpen yourself, not destroy. Don't destroy yourself, and don't destroy those who hurt you (this quote's kind of a bad example for that if you know the context, but the point remains). Be better. Be greater. Climb higher so that …

There is no Camelot. Everyone's always searching for a place with no problems, no faults, no blemishes, but it isn't just going to fall into your lap. You can either search for it fruitlessly (which is admirable in its own way), or you can accept that it doesn't exist and embrace the imperfections. That's not to say throw away all the rules, but accept it when you break them, you know?

You can find the answers to that under the text/phone guide in the sidebar. I'm going to assume that you just found this subreddit and made a throwaway account for a specific situation. It takes a lot of time and dedication, and you aren't going to learn the one magic word that will quick fix whatever situation you are in, or guarantee that you close the way you want to. Think of it this way: You don't approach girls because you expect something, you do it because you are a friendly person. So, when you increase attraction with these other girls, it's just because you happen to be an attractive guy. This will make you seem more authentic, which is the important part. Just because you can't close, doesn't mean you can't practice being sociable. EDIT: I think this is a pretty good question.

I use brute mental force to obliterate my bad nerves. I just kind of yell at myself inside my head and get my adrenaline pumping. "IF YOU WANT TO DO SOMETHING, DO IT!" I'm curious though: this isn't unhealthy is it?

Thanks! I needed that. I also think that arrogance is about saying look how great I am while confidence is saying look how great I can be. One is stuck in the past, while the other is preparing to grow for tomorrow.

The classic foot in mouth. You know, saying too much, getting over emotional, being far too attached, and so on. I don't even remember the specifics really, but I was having a really bad week. I made mistakes, and I was wrong. But, I just want to set things straight. I've apologized, but she still thinks there's something awkward there. Essentially, we spoke for two weeks. She was apparently really into me, so I felt secure. I thought things would last a while, and based on what everyone told me…

Is there a chance that I can rebuild rapport with someone that sees me on a daily basis? Maybe this isn't that simple, but it can't hurt to ask. I ruined things, and now for the sake of fixing my mistakes, I'd like to rebuild. She liked me in the first place, so it should happen again, right? It sounds silly saying that.

As a teenager, I have ruined chances with girls because of terrible text game. I just decided I'm bad at it, so I'll cut it out. It encourages clinginess as well. Besides, if it's important, it deserves to be said face to face. If it isn't important, you probably shouldn't bother saying it. This subreddit has helped me grow up so much.

I suppose I might have been better off with a new sentence. I think the second one may be a run-on. Yeah, that's my essay/factual/school-work writing voice/tone, and I do sound like a complete jerk-off when I use it. Sorry though. I just write that way when I'm trying to list complete thoughts. I'm also pretty mediocre at communicating online, which I suppose could show some of my weaknesses as a writer. But, I have made a mistake in saying that I write fearlessly. I've tried the Lord Byron approach, brooding and moody, but I honestly have no idea what I'm doing with that. It's easy to imitate Byron, but hard to duplicate his success.

I do like the, "would you like two?" response though. Is that actually practical? As in, "Do you have a boyfriend?" "Yes" "How about another?" I haven't had the opportunity to use this, but I thought it sounded good. It's still all in the delivery though.

I would have handled it completely differently, and someone can tell me if I'm wrong (I sure hope someone tells me if I'm wrong). I would have walked over to the girl and made it known she was with me. Not in some macho bravado way, and definitely not by acknowledging him. I would have started talking to her as though we were really close, and basically steal the show from this guy who is dying on stage. If he confronted me, I would have stayed calm cool and friendly. If he was persistent, I'd p…

The story telling thing is exactly the sort of thing I was looking for. I feel like story telling is a bit of a lost art, and I love to tell people about my adventures. So, I'll focus on improving my story telling, and I'll bet that standup comedy is the best place to start. Thank you so much!

That's excellent advice, and explains some of my mistakes. I understand now the importance of coyness. Don't act like a puppy, act like a wolf. 'I'm not just going to let you see my work because you want to see it. This isn't a game to me, it's serious business. Prove you have something to offer.' Is that the right mindset? Obviously those words are a bit blunt, but is the mindset on cue?

I can do that very well, very easily, but it doesn't seem to stand out to me. Like you said, I can talk about anything passionately. Is there another step I can take?

Haha, I like how you used your advice on me. No, I've been trying to get published by online magazines, but I guess I haven't dedicated enough time to it. We should swap stories. I'll PM you once I've had the chance to read yours.

Perhaps I could if I practiced at it, but I have no desire for online dating. Maybe in the future though, I can't completely write it off. Talking about writing just seems too simple. I mean, is there anyway I can really stand out, other than just being another guy who talks about something he really likes? I suppose the humbling conclusion is that my talent doesn't make me all that different from anyone else, perhaps. But, I refuse to simply lie down at that statement. I'm sure there's some way…

Yes and no. Some prose comes off better as just that. There are a few different dimensions to each one, chiefly, when I write I have the opportunity to go back and edit. I can continue 'the same conversation over the course of an entire year. Thank you for posting!

Don't worship this advice, but perhaps, "Good! I like a few problems here and there. They keep things interesting." Like I was saying, I'm not sure if this is the perfect response, but I think it's the direction you want to go. Also, try posting your question in /r/askseddit. It might be more helpful, as I believe there's a rule about not posting specific scenario related questions here. Good luck and God bless!

This is right. I would also say it sounds to me like she wanted attention and so she saw an opportunity to talk to you. You got scared and tried to be funny (happens all the time in one way or another). Maybe scared is too strong a word, but you responded awkwardly. I would suggest trying to be plain in your online/text communications. There's so much less to work with.

Oh, yes! Very easily. While you're hiking, be sure you take the lead. Be confident in where you're going, even if you both know you're just guessing. It's a adventure, so have fun. If you two get down to a slow enough pace, be sure you stay close. If it's cool out, hold her as you walk. Whenever there's an obstruction in the path, hold her hand as you help her over it. If you see something you want her to see, bring her in close and line her sight up with her's and point at it. I don't know why,…

Something physically active/exciting is a great choice. It kind of comes down to personal taste. What do you like to do? Then, your goal is to share memories and experiences of those fun things with other people. I would suggest something like a concert, rock climbing, hiking, biking, or even an arcade. Let me know if this helps/how things go!

I know that feeling. The one where at the end you're left telling her that "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn." Then you go out on your own path, but sometimes you aren't really alone. A memory of her stays with you. You want to kill it, to throw it away and be on with yourself. But, it's not easy to destroy something so beautiful and full of meaning to you.

Of course. Nothing wrong with a plan at all. If understand correctly, women like a man with a plan. It's the breakdown and analysis that makes it all seem super technical, and somewhat difficult.

That thought hadn't even occurred to me. I'm not dumping on him at all; he accomplished the mission with efficiency. I just had these super complex ideas about how technical things could get. It shouldn't be technical and calculated, it should be natural. Aristotle put it best when he said that "excellence is a habit, not a choice".

You know, I see this guy, and I just feel like i can do even better than him. I wasn't that impressed, rather he did what I expected, maybe less. It's really encouraging though. If my standards are that high, I feel like I'm doing things right. It feels natural.
