I still like the Mystery Method. Many of the newer systems came from it, so I think you should learn it, even if you never use it. It will help you understand other systems like Emotional Progression, The Triad, etc.

I'm not sure what version you're reading, or how it's presented. I'm sure it's the regular M3 Model. To orient you to M3 briefly: The theory is that all seductions will go through the 3 stages, even if it's accidental and you stumble through them. It's better to know the stages, and lead the woman through them in a way that seems natural. It will help a lot to know signals that you're progressing through the stages, and how to push forward.

With all of these so-called "gurus", it's important to separate the solid advice from the horse shit. And believe me, there is a mountain of horse shit that comes with the PUA community. "Mystery" -- or Erik James Horvat-Markovic, as I refuse to call people by the bullshit nicknames they give themselves -- illustrates a few fair points that are pretty universally smart to adhere to. He also peppers it with a lot of crap that only complete douchebags would follow.

Here's the rub, pal: go out and try this shit out for yourself. Reading books and posts on Reddit is going to get you nowhere. Experience is the best teacher. Go with what works and stop doing what doesn't. You'll probably find, like most people, that dressing up in pirate shirts and fuzzy tophats just makes you look like an attention whore. Understand that Mystery gained popularity because Neil Strauss' book was a bestseller, not because his method is somehow a magic bullet for getting laid. You might have luck with some of it. Chances are, you won't. But the only way you'll know for sure is to experiment and do what works best for you.

MM is a great book. To help digest it, try reading The Game and lots of other material as well. This will give you greater context to put the MM in.

Most of all, go out and practice this stuff. Reading is great but like you said, there's a lot to take in. It will be easier to understand why these methods work if you're practicing them yourself.

Mystery Method is where it all began for me. 90% of what is out in the pickup field today is an extension of what mystery was doing in the mid to late 2000's. He literally wrote the book! The strong point for me of MM is it gives you a graphic look at the entire seduction process from beginning to end. this was invaluable for me because I could see the entire seduction process from beginning to end and I learned how to identify in field where I was in the process. Also in the beginning the sugested openers and negs, etc. are helpful to know but I would suggest you come up with your own material. One area I would like to touch on is Peacocking. Peacocking is where you wear attention getting clothes and accesories. This works for Mystery but would not work for me! I am a professional and peacocking to the extent that mystery does just wouldn't be congruent. I do peacock to a limited extent with some necklaces and bracelets but I wear pretty normal clothes. Other than the whole peacocking, Mystery's book is the orignal manual on how to pick up women. It is worth the read.

MM is still the best overall structure explanation of game. Just concentrate on that first. Attraction-comfort-seduction. A1-A2-A3, you don't even really have to break down comfort and seduction into their three stages, I think he mainly did that for continuity.

You have to go over MM a few times to absorb it all. It is a GREAT foundation, though. But the most powerful thing about it is that structure - because for the first time in your life, you'll be able to know exactly where you are with a girl, and so you'll know what to do next.

For practice, just run attraction on sets. Open, FTC, DHV, try some negs - some people use them some don't. When you get at least 3 IOI's, isolate then qualify. That's Mystery's Attraction in a nutshell. That is plenty to work on for quite a while.

Here's a good study tip: consider the context for what you're reading. The Mystery Method and many other seduction theories are for short-term cold approaches, not for forming social circles or maintaining a solid group of friends. Kinda like a light switch.

The most important thing you can take away from the mystery method is his model of how seduction moves from open to close. It's a solid framework to keep in mind. All the scripted stuff...throw it out...BUT you can memorize some of the games (rings routine, fucker murder kill) etc cause they are fun to have on hand...but if you have the framework, you don't need the routines (unless you find a few that fit your personality).
