I am 40 as well, true even though I have good memories with my son I have to build new memories which does not include my ex. Also I need to work on my self. That is why I am not able to commit yet. But damn with out security of money, everything is expensive these days.

My wife agreed for less child support in exchange for me awarding my share (150k)of a property as a gift for my son. But, it is not mentioned in MSA.

I am truly happy for you. 10 years for me, I could been longer. I was staying for my son and my insecurities and my soon to be ex kept playing me. I just want to accept it and be in a happy space again. Right now I am a mess.

I tried to save my marriage for 3 years for the sake of my son( he is 5 now). Gave my wife n number of chances to work with me and few chances to actually end it. But, she did nothing…I ended up wasting 3 of my valuable time. I could have used those 3 years to heal, start over , forget, forgive. Never stay for wrong reasons.

Thanks for the replies. It turns out in Texas as a dad you don’t have many options if the ex decides to play hard. It’s pathetic how much power moms have in this. Standard custody with child support was the 1st offer. Standard custody with out child support was next. I asked for 3-4. But, she doesn’t want to split weekends. I was given extended standard custody...on paper I will get 40%. And she is the primary. At this point I have so much going through my mind...I can’t think straight. At the l…

Good luck. I am thinking of 4-3 ( mom 4 days, myself 3 days).

Thanks for your reply. I truly love my son but my wife is doing things just to hurt me. I did protect her and gave her chance after chance for the sake of my son. I am just losing it as she is taking advantage of the court system in USA.

Oh wow. Can my ex wife gift her assets to me after divorce? I know for a fact she doesn’t want 50-50.

Are you saying that even though me and my wife agree to share assets in a certain way through negotiations ( she has a lawyer) judge will over rule it?

Take if from my experience. One a cheater always a cheater. I tried very hard for couple years to forgive but I couldn’t nor did my ex wife changed. Don’t waste your time trying to fix the situation like I did. Move on...never take a wrong decision out of fear. Looking back I wish I moved on 3,2,1 years ago.

What if my ex doesn’t want my money?

Thanks, me and my ex wife are not going for 50-50 split of assets. We will split based on our earnings. She wants out, so I told her she should be ashamed to ask for my hard earned money. I hoping judge will agree for what me and my ex agreed for.

Thank you. Nothing is more important to me than my son. I will go for 50-50.

I will be very honest. I was being selfish/ doubting my ability to give my son proper care even though I do every thing for him now. May be if it is 3 days ( Sunday- Tuesday) I can just focus on him and go back to my life for other 4 days. I don’t have anything going in my life ( WFH job ) ...I lost confidence in love/ dating after what my soon to be Ex said. I want to prove her wrong though. Do guys regret for not going for 50/50?
