Good. My 2 month old son just graduated from physical therapy (tortacolis)!

That's the real issue I have with this. Not that he has an opinion about who should or should not be on magazine covers, but that he was comfortable dishing it, but couldn't take it.

Because they already do. They don't have sick days like in the US. They just need a doctor's note. Debilitating periods are just now also covered. They were not listed as a medical condition before.

If I wanted to NOT accept my insurance through work I could apply for insurance through the ACA, but since I have my works insurance I have to follow those rules. Under ACA more women's preventive care might be free, but that isn't applicable under all insurance

They all are free under the ACA, which I don't have since I get my insurance through my employer.

This is one of those posts I love to see on here (i am a woman), because I always thought that women did have worse healthcare than men. And for some aspects it's true, but there are plenty that I just don't see that show that I can't just pick and choose or make blanket statements.

My (I'm a woman) STD screenings and PAPs are definitely not free.

Spain has unlimited sick leave for medical conditions. Debilitating periods would just now be recognized as a medical condition. They were not covered before.
/r/MensRights13/05/22 02:53 PM

It's a doctor's note loophole. If you are sick, you need a doctor's note. This allows up to 3 days without a doctor's note for periods.
/r/MensRights13/05/22 02:49 PM
1

Spain doesn't have "sick days" like the US does. If you are unable to work, you get a doctor's note and you are not expected to work. This new law just says that women can take up to 3 days of leave without getting a doctor's note due to periods.
/r/MensRights13/05/22 02:48 PM

I thought the period leave was just "you don't need to get a doctor's note to use 3 days of sick time"

That has not been my expierence. Women usually are tested first while SAs are recommended after nothing being found with the woman (without very intrusive testing.)

Little thing that happened today! I have an autoimmune disease and get infusions via IV every 8 weeks. Today was infusion day, and I have a needle phobia, oh, and I'm 26 weeks pregnant. He packed my favorite candy in my lunchbox as a treat for after :)

I would not stay with my husband if he cheated. Being a SAHM (I am not, full disclosure) puts women in a unique position and unfortunate scenarios like this are the reason most women on this sub suggest having an education and having method of work to fall back on.

Two things. I think because he is a special education teacher he is already thinking ahead to the struggles your son will have in school. But your son is only 3. Your husband might projecting every worst case scenario he can think of and trying to come up with solutions now that can help mitigate them, but there is simply too much unknown for that. The mental burnout is causing secondary reactions and additional stressors. I used to do this and my therapist calls it catastrophizing. The second t…

Went to our birthing class and they had a while section on how to take care of your baby's circumcision. That the American Academy of Pediatrics has seen more benefits to doing one, than to not doing one. We decided to start asking questions about NOT getting one done, just so the other couples in the class knew that someone else there was NOT planning on getting it done.

The affect pregnancy has on a womans body is permanent. It doesn't stop at 9 months, it will affect her for the rest of her life.

Lesson learned! If you are adding lemon juice to a cream based sauce ADD IT TO COLD CREAM. My first batch of creamy lemon pasta sauce split on the stove, but when I added the lemon to the cold heavy whipping cream THEN heat it up on the stove, it worked perfectly!

I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease after 1 year of marriage (7 years together), right when we were planning on trying for a baby. I ended up attending therapy because I felt like I had failed my husband by getting this disease, or that I did something wrong to cause it to happen to me. I understand now that neither are true. I am in remission now, 1 year later, and people always how much I have had to deal with, but no one ever comments to my husband that he had to deal with just as much…

I remember when this subject was talked about a lot when Season 1 of Brigerton came out (spoiler alter, because this happens). I could see it coming up again because Season 2 just dropped.
/r/MensRights29/03/22 12:47 PM

Yep! I have an autoimmune disease, I get not finding jokes about it funny, but that does NOT mean you get to instigate violence due to it. You could have just done an interview after. Saying that making a joke about a disease isn't appropriate.

You're correct. I shouldn't do blanket statements like that. Better phraseing: BC should be considered like every other prescription and not handled so casually, as it currently is.
/r/MensRights24/03/22 02:19 PM
3

I get so mad thinking about how I wasn't told about all the issues BC could cause me. I found out that BC increases the likelihood of crohn's disease AFTER I was diagnosed with it. Doctors just prescribe it without any thought or discussion. We did condoms and BBT tracking and NEVER had a pregnancy scare. 2 months of actual trying resulted in a pregnancy. I am never going on BC ever again and I wouldn't reccomend anyone else either.

I have been seeing male celebrities open up about this in recent years. Christopher Egglestton, Sebastian Stan, Ed Sheeran, Zayne Malik, Rob Pattinson, and more. I hope that more men can see that they aren't alone and feel comfortable reaching out to get help.

For couples I can see how it gets missed. Mom has just gone through an ordeal. Labor is extremely physically and mentally demanding and after she has control over how her body responds. The hormone drop from pregnant to not pregnant is WILD and not everyine responds the same way. She now is bleeding, trying to breastfeed, recovering from stitches, may not be able to go to the bathroom without help, and can't drive or even go up stairs. It's so easy to forget about dad in this situation. Watching…

Currentmy 19 weeks pregnant genetic screening is available and encouraged at most OB offices. It isn't mandatory because it can be super expensive. I got every test possible done chromosome screening, carrier screening, the works. We were comfortable paying for it (and the peace of mind for coming back as low risk for everything). I offered paternity for my husband for when our kid is born. No judgment, just if he wanted it we would get it done. He declined. Maternity wards have crazy security n…

30F here. We are taught to. I started walking to school in middle school. I was told stories about my mother's rape when she was walking to school as a kid. I was told that it I shouldn't fear all men, but any man can be the one that will rape me. I was told I will be raped at some point in my life. So when I walked down the street I see a man and thought 'is it going to be this one? Is this when it finally happens to me? I know I can't do anything. Started lurking on here a while ago when I started looking for alternative view points. I realized that I was in a echo chamber and every part of my life was suffering because of it. My relationship wasn't strong, I wasn't happy. I stepped out if the twoX mindset. Hey, I am 17 weeks pregnant and can relate kinda to this. First trimester is HARD. Exhaustion, sickness, and just new changes are overwhelming. Hot take here: having less sex shouldn't make you feel guilty, and if he was a real provider he would understand. I don't care that his drive is higher than yours. What is going to happen postpartum? 6 weeks is the average amount of time, most women I know took about 8 weeks for PIV sex. My sex drive went back up just recently, but you have bigger issues…

I try to call out, especially at work, double standards. Examples: I had a bridal shower thrown for me at work and everyine chipped in to get me gifts, about $200 worth. My male coworker didn't get one, which if he doesn't want the party is fine, but not having the same opportunity for gift giving bothered me, so I set it up so he was able to get gifts as well. A woman asked my very busy male coworker to help carry something, I told her I would help instead because I had some down time.

Still pregnant, but we are not going to circumcise our son. I'm worried about other caregivers not understanding how to clean properly and that they might damage by pulling it back prematurely or something similar.

Kinda similar story for me! I went on a couple first dates before I met my husband is college, but I always felt 'off' (I like your description of feeling ill) and just not right. I had been kissed before, and light petting, but that was really it. Husband was the same way. I think one big reason why our relationship worked is because we were in the same place and looking for the same thing. We were in college, but not party people, didn't have experience, was looking for a serious 'marriage mat…

I will be 30 when I give birth to my first, and I am planning on another child after that! Because you know that yoy want kids, you can do SO much to prepare your body and eggs for pregnancy. There are tons of resources on it! There is no reason you can't have healthy children!! Edit: also, I have an autoimmune disease and still decide to have biological children. There is a chance that I will pass it on to my kids, but my life is not so horrible that I wish I wasn't alive.

This is something I am concerned about. During my pregnancy so far my husband has definitely had some sympathy symptoms. And he has admitted he is worried about newborn care and making a mistake to hurt our baby. I, along with many women, babysat at a teen and I did infant care in church for a long time so I am reasonably confident, but he never had those experiences. Plus, his work doesn't give any paternity time for him to be home and really bond at the newborn level. He'll have his vacation t…

Random female perspective. The cervix moves depending on where in her cycle she is. During her period is when the cervix is the lowest, ovulation (midpoint of cycle, usually) is when it's the highest. So that will factor in too. A position might not feel good at the begining or end of the cycle, but toward the middle ot might work better.

Officially 10 weeks today. I'm getting to the point where I am feeling better, which makes me think something is wrong. I had the nurse education visit today and I just realized there is so much that could go wrong. So many genetic issues to be checked for and it is a bit overwhelming.

Have not seen the movie yet. Isn't Peter Parker supposed to be a young teen, like in high school? His character shouldn't be sexualized at all because the character is underage (even if the actor is not).

I have a chronic illness, crohn's. It's a very...crass disease. It's an inflammation disease that affects my intestines so I can have bathroom issues. It's the most unfeminine disease (but is any disease feminine?). It took me a long time to come to terms with it. I still see a therapist actually, but I cannot change my disease, I can only change my mindset. Does my husband have to make sacrifices for me, yes. It sou ds ike this is what he has wanted for a while and was putting 'feelers' out to see if you would want it as well. He didn't want to lose you so he agreed but now that you are engaged he thinks the relationship is secure enough to make it a demand. If you do not want this, as you have told him MULTIPLE times, then it is a dealbreaker for you. You have to sit down and tell him exactly what the means for you. Even aside from all this the pill can increase risk for developing IBD/IBD. I didn't know this until after I was diagnosed with an IBD, unfortunately. But there are so many health factors at risk. Being on the pill is a huge regret of mine.

I would suggest looking into Pajar (canadian brand) and Sorel. Both have great winter/waterproof selections and both are very comfy. Also, you can have a pair of 'desk shoes' or shoes you put on when you get to work and take off before you leave. That's what I usually do.

That was actually a scenario my parenta were in. Mom had a scan and it showed potential lifetime disability. The secondary testing took a week, but my mom was far wnough along that if they wanted to terminate they would need to do it immediately after getting the test results. So they were given one week to decide what to do if the results were positive. I know that having something that you perceive to be 'not feminine' is be difficult and a blow to self esteem, but I know many tall women (I'm 5'7, bff is 5'10) who have not had any issues with height. Try to adjust the provider/ protector image to be an attitude or presence/aura. He just just give off those vibes, instead of looking for a physical type of trait. Thank you. I have mostly been trying to distract myself because if I don't think about it too much I still feel normal. Like maybe it isn't really happening. When I do think about it I blame myself, did I do something to make this happen? Logically I know that isn't true, but logic sometimes doesn't apply.

I would be open to adopting, but I have no idea what it entails. It took me a while to open up to having kids, honestly, and I have been working for years to get to this point, and to just have it dropped so suddenly.... I know I am getting ahead of myself, but part of me thinks that if I accept the worst now I am protecting myself from the pain later.

I had to get a blood draw, and I am terribly afraid of needles, but I will be getting more since we are going to try for our first child this summer. This is something I have struggled with. My husband mentioned it to me that I was very independent, and while that was nice he didn't feel needed. I was actually sick, and asked him to help (soup, get meds, etc.) And while he didn't like to see me ill, he was happy I was leaning on him when needed. It took time, but I was able to find a balance between the two. I ask for him to help, we do more things together (even if I could do it alone) and it has really helped our relationship grow.

Husband and I picked out my E-ring together. I was very aware I would be engaged soon. We had an event at the college we met/started dating at coming up in a couple months and I was SO SURE he was going to recreate out first date (stargazing on the golf course) to propose. The week before I had a sleepover with my best friend. We did a workout, ate dinner and showered. I met my husband when I was 22. When we met, I previously had one high school 'boyfriend' that was a couple weeks of holding hands in the hallway, one real date in college, that was mutually agreed we didn't work, and that's it! We met and started officially dating 1 month in. That was 7 years ago. Boys might be looking at you and thinking, 'she's too serious, I want to party and find a girl who likes that too'. This calls for a proper sit down discussion. For me, it isn't so much the topic, but the fact that he didn't want to talk to you. Was he upset from something and just wanted to rant (not have a discussion), or was he processing his thoughts outloud and not actually wanting to talk? Ask him for 20 minutes one day this week, sit at the table and ask why he didn't want to talk about it with you. Don't acuse or attack, aim for understanding. Use "I" statements. The key to change is SMALL AND SUSTAINABLE changes over TIME. This applies to anything. Pick one thing this week you will make sure is clean like making your bed. Every day make sure of this. Then next week add something else. If you are a visual person I would get a white board calendar you can write things down on. You can also break up daunting tasks. Wash laundry on Tuesday, but fold it on Wednesday. Run dishwasher Thursday but empty it on Friday.

You can bypass this by going to a trade school. But if you want an office type job you will have to have a degree. Most places have it as a requirement anymore. College is a place to grow wothout parental oversight. The forst month is the biggest testament to parenting you will ever see. Who is actually prepared? Very sheltered kids can go wild and fuck up before the semester starts. Not having the same group of friends can lead people to do stupid things in an effort to make some. Everyone is s…

I am personally okay using pronouns when people ask and or tell me. I do agree with you about sports, though. What gets me is the new trend to not refer to me as a woman but as a body part or function like "person who bleeds, menstruator, or vagina-haver". It's dehumanizing.

Not exactly first meeting, very early dating. I met my husband in college, and he was in a fraternity.. that made me a bit nervous, but we stared dating anyway. His 'job' is then was Risk Manager or try not to let the guys be dumb, and he was 100% sober all the time. At parties he was at the door collecting keys to out into lockers and if they wanted their keys back, they had to pass a sober test. He also coordinated designated drivers (DD). I helped out at parties because I don't drink either a…

I wish I could upvote this twice. Amazing. My husband and I had similar issues when we would speak before I sat down and explained (worse than you did) how I felt. We both started changing how we spoke to each other, he started pausing, giving me a chance to speak, and waiting longer before talking when I was telling a story. I started adding small expressions for when he speaks so knows I am following and speaking up more to ask questions. We start stories with, what do you know about X? And th…

Same! I agree that getting information about abuse (physical, emotional, sexual, financial, etc) out to the general public is good, because then more people can recognize unhealthy relationships. Unfortunately, it also creates "headline readers" who get a small snippet of information and take it out of proportion. Gaslighting is a really intense form of abuse where victims question their own reality and/or sanity. I hate that it gets throw around so casually.

Yes to taking notes!!! My MOH took notes and it was so helpful. I handed her the cards and gifts after opening them so she could organize them, it made the thank you notes so much easier.

I saw your other comment that you did talk about what you wanted and he didn't do it. If you made it clear and he blatently ignored it and did something else (even with covid restrictions) it is time for an uncomfortable talk. "I appreciate the mug that you got me, but was there a reason you didn't visit the patisserie I had mentioned?" "We talked about this and I feel under value that I wasn't listened to." "We went to the zoo, which was a great way to spend time together, like your love langua…

I usually shower every other day. I get very dry skin and overwashing it causes issues for me. Same thing with my hair. I always make sure to shower after I workout, or get particularly sweaty/gross doing something, even if I don't shampoo my hair. I can go 3 days before I need to wash my hair.

To me this seems like an example of "expectations vs reality" Have you even had a conversation about how you would like to celebrate your birthday? You say that you spend a lot of time and sometimes money for him, but is it possible that he doesn't see that? My husband doesn't like gifts or cards. Doesn't like giving them, and doesn't like recieving them. I do. For birthdays and Christmas and anniversaries we ALWAYS have a conversation about how we will celebrate. My husband and I have this issue. I am a planner and he is not. It was an issue we discovered during wedding planning. This is what we do. I gather information and give options usually 3-5. He then looks them over and chooses from what I presented. We also hire a travel agent for big trips! We are going to visit New Zealand next year and our agent will be doing most of it. We are going to do the "options" method above for choosing what to do. Edit: Husband is the one who works directly with the …

Hello! It makes me really happy to see more female MRAs on here! The more of us that educate ourselves the better the world will be. I originally came here for the same reason, my husband and I started talking about having kids. When we were talking about how different our childhoods were I decided I needed more information and new perspectives so I can (eventually) become the best mother I can. I went down the rabbit hole of circumcision research and found this sub and I stayed.

Sometimes we need a good rant. And Yes to physical strength that men have, I am definitely a bit jealous of it. This sub has really opened my eyes to the fact that feminism gives this false bravado to women. I never felt happy as feminist. It made me MORE afraid. It was mentally exhausting. I can't imagine how worn down men must feel being constantly berated by current feminists. It seems crazy more aren't angry.

Attractiveness is something a lot of men and women struggle with. You have direct control of your body too. Men have to financially independent too. This is not a woman specific argument. Edit, forgot a word

I want to start by saying I am currently 28, just for reference. Many reasons I had for hating being a woman were because of how my parents treated me vs how my older brother was treated. I was a pretty sheltered kid and grew up to be 'weird'. I didn't date until I was 22. My parents treated me like I was worthless until I started dating. I had no value until I had a man to share my life with. Even when I graduated college, my dad said to me "but what does it matter if you are alone?" Accomplish…

So I am a woman, and I felt the exact same way when I was a teen. I hated being female and wished I was male. Not trans, just unhappy as I was. This post completely blows my mind because anytime I tried to explain it nobody really understood what I was trying to say. I know our situations are different, and I can't truly understand they type of stress and pressure you as a man feel. It took me a long time to get to the point of being comfortable being a woman. I am not great at writing so I hope…

I have the same issues at times (I am a chemist). My husband totally supports me and my work and it has never been an issue (he is an EE). I personally struggle with the balance between "work me" and "home me", but I like the idea of masculine and feminine energies. Good luck!

Female MRA. I work in a male dominated industry and that is what started to open my eyes to everyday sexism men face. Just little things. Renovation offices and need help carrying something? Just ask one of the guys. I was ALREADY carrying it, when an office lady told me to out it down and let a man handle it. Why should he have to stop what he is doing? Why is he expected to do this? There were 4 of us that all got engaged around the same time. 3 women (including me) and one man. All 3 of us wo…

Married my first boyfriend last September! We were dating for 6 years. One thing that helped me was realizing that we were and are going to change, but we choose to change together. The biggest struggle for us was when we first moved in together after being long distance for 1.5 years. That was the biggest struggle our our relationship, but we knew we wanted to make it work. It was a lot of uncomfortable conversations and we learned how to talk TO each other instead of AT each other.

I always understood rape culture to be "playing down" the topic or victim blaming by the general public. When I started taking a karate class in middle school, my friends mom said if other friend had taking the class maybe "they wouldn't have gotten raped" Or the popular video of a woman running the baseball field slapping players butts and everyone laughing. No, she is assulting them, why are you laughing? On the same note the prison rape "jokes" that are common in TV and movies.

She could have post partum anxiety as well, but if she is not taking her PPD meds then she may not take those either. Is there a family member that she is close to, like her mom, who could back you up? You need to call her doctor now and explain this. If not resolved it could progress to something worse. Do you feel like your baby is safe with her? Are you safe?

Hello! I wasn't in a relationship until I was 22 and, believe it or not, I am also an olive toned woman! I was a virgin, relationship noob who had never done more than a single peck on the lips before I met the man who ended up being my husband. We also didn't get married until we were 27. Don't place such strict rules for yourself! Don't focus on the timeline more than the person. I have stopped using the word 'feminist' because it now has such a bad connotation. I am for equal rights for all people. I stipped actively looking and following current feminists becuase I felt so angry all the time. Everything I saw was somehow an injustice I personally needed to call out. I was focusing only on women and not on people. I was becoming slefish and thought only my problems and my 'causes' mattered. Everything else was just getting in the way. For your nails, how is your iron? Low iron can lead to weak nails and hair. Fellow dry skin gal here! For your feet I would suggest O'keefs foot cream. Amazing product found at drug/ grocery stores. Dry face: what face wash do you use, and how often do you wash your face? Dry skin does better with 1 wash a day and a non-foaming cleanser. Clean and clear makes a good one it's in all drug/grocery shops.

The mantra I am using is alert but not anxious. Pay attention to my area/anywhere I am traveling. I know who the most vulnerable people in my life are (old, young, or immunocompromised) and that I should pay extra attention to them.

Rape against ANYONE is a serious crime, not only because of the physical violence, but the physiological trauma as well. As for thr jail time difference, reccomend time versus time actually served is very different. Non violent drug offenders usually serve more time than rapists do. The whole system van be very disheartening

There was a time in my life where I was a little too into feminism. My (now) husband mentioned that I was getting hard to talk to, and I reacted more emotionally charged to everything. I had some uncomfortable self talks and realized that I wasn't being a good partner or a good feminist. I was only looking at one side and it was skewing everything I saw. I still have some work to do, but self-improvement is a long term goal I suppose.
