Hey man first of all I'm so sorry you're going through this. I'm 2 years older than you but pretty much everything else is similar in my situation so I know the kind of pain and confusion you're feeling. I'm not completely over the hump as I still dream of her quite often but day to day I manage by: trail running and enjoying the nature weight lifting/gym to angry music lol doing 5 min box breath / or gratitude type meditation once a day trying to get out of my comfort zone and make friendly tal…

I like that analogy. In my opinion the feeling is floating, like a wave, up and down. But generally the trajectory is upwards and time will heal. Take care, hope you are successful in finding peace

That is kind of true. I've matched with a couple of women online and got talking pretty well but I did also experience a bit of anxiety and lack of engagement so maybe I'm not quite there yet. I'm making a more conscious effort to surround myself with guys and do more manly things

Thank you, some of things you've said definitely make sense. I've seen a therapist a few times early in the process but the fact that I was still able to get out and train and get promotions etc and not be stuck in bed, made me think that I didn't need therapy anymore. I'm going to see if I can get some therapy less frequently but at least it will be an ongoing/regular thing. The point you've made about running is interesting. I love it 80% of the time, I get endorphins, meet other people etc, b…

Thank you, that's good to hear. I know that my long term patience will pay off. Just need to work hard on myself and be honest with that I want. No settling for anyone that disrespects me

I'm very sorry to hear that bro :( I was 28 when my ex wife and best friend of 12 years left me last year. I too was devastated and your statement of wanted to be consoled by her even though its her fault really resonated. It will be tough for a bit, I'm not going to lie. You will feel weak at time and strong in others. Do not be afraid to cry. Do not be afraid to lean on your family or friends for support. It really helps. You will make mistakes and let her back into your life in one way or ano…

Probably a month or two before we separated lol took me a good year to put all the pieces together and figure out what was actually going on before and just after the separation.

Similar situation here. Great friends since 15, together from 19, married ar 26, then separated at 28. I'm 29 and divorced now. Yes its going to suck for a while but we are both lucky we are not financially ruined and have children to worry about. Go and live your life bro it'll be okay. Listen to songs like Don't Stop by Fleetwood Mac. Take up a hobby with a big community. Trail running saved me

Hi OP I'm really sorry you're going through this. I (28M) was in the same place last year when my wife (and best friend of 13+ years) decided to leave me to find "herself". We tried to resume contact many times but I was often let down, ghosted etc. Gave her far too many chances, essentially I was soft. Don't make the same mistake and retain your pride. Like yourself, I was also envisioning a quiet life. I love to cook and get decent sleep in and go on hiking adventures. A few months ago, I foun…

No problem! What I also have been doing is writing down my "wins" and looking back at them every day when I'm feeling like I've done nothing in the separation. So for example I ran a marathon and also went to a festival by myself and made lots of new friends and had a quality time by MYSELF. So next time I was down in a hole on a Sunday morning and I read those points and others, it made me think "you know what, not all of this separation has been terrible. I have shown strength and enjoyed life…

Hi I'm really sorry you're going through. Everyone has given you great advice which in many ways also helped me in the last year or so. If you're intention is to get back with her then I recommend listening to the Husband Help Haven podcast. That podcast really saved me in my first 3 months of separation. In the end it was I who finalised the divorce as I no longer liked the person she became throughout separation however I hope your journey will be smoother for you. Sending you much strength!

I'm really sorry to hear that... I'm M28 and was in a very similar situation back in April. The only thing I can say that while I was very upset for 2-3 months I eventually realised that this was a right thing and that perhaps I was in denial for the last 2-3 years of the relationship. She tried to come back throughout the summer and I fell for it each time but she never ended up following through and I'd get ghosted after a while. I kept my heart slightly open for her and she would let me down,…

Thank you for your advice but at the same time sorry you've had to go through something similar, if not much worse. Sending you much strength bro

Yes I agree. Divorce will be finalised in December and I'm pretty sure I won't have to contact her (we're in the UK). She has a family and although they love her, they told me I'm better off moving away and following my dreams. Feeling grateful for their support

Thank you for everything you've said. I have thought about some therapy and if I'm still feeling like shit a couple months into my new life then I will definitely go to an appointment

Thank you, I've completely forgotten about this phrase but it really resonates with me today. I have written it down on the notes app in my phone so I can look back on it when I have doubts

Yes I have, for many years but she only went to a couple sessions. She's been on anti depressants for few years and recently came off them too. Not a good idea.

Thank you for your post. I'm currently awaiting for an in person interview for a dream job. It will mean I move 4h from our city to a small town on the edge of a mountainous national park. Very excited and hopeful that universe will have my back. Wish I could share my enthusiasm with my wife. But will keep quiet and try to focus on being more successful

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
