I'm feeling quite low today and could use some words of encouragement from other men...its better than keeping it in I suppose?
My partner/wife of 8 years and great friend for 13 years left me last April. Typical "I need to find myself" story. Last year of our relationship wasn't great and I'm definitely partly to blame as I became quite introverted and depressed due to work life. On the other hand I was in the best physical shape of my life and still provided for my wife with cooked food etc. But the sex life went down to once every 2 weeks which I know isn't great.
We tried to resume friendship a few times and it would work for 6-8 weeks until she broke my trust by ghosting me, lying etc. She was adamant there was nobody else in her life throughout this time. Also I found out she got addicted to coke and smoking.
Divorce was final in April this year and that was the last time we had a proper conversation.
She tried calling me lots on one day in June, a week after I'd moved to the other side of the country (which I told her about in April). I thought her grandparent may have died etc so I tried to call back. We arranged to speak the following day as she said "she really needs to tell me things". Again, ghosted after this so I made she was completely blocked after this time. Total b*tch behaviour. How can she be so heartless?
I've made a lot of progress the past few months. Nearly 100 days sober, still running ultra marathons and have a few trusted friends and family members that have shown me life can be great. I'm 30 in a few months so things could've been a lot worse for me.
Yet, I still feel this dark cloud/curse above me every day that I can't shake off. I'm struggling to make any meaningful connections with women in real life and online which doesn't help.
Anyway, today I found out from a mutual connection (that has her mum on FB) that she's engaged and pregnant. I know deep down this won't end well and she will be a single mum in 3-4 years time no doubt. But I still feel quite down and could use with some words of encouragement from other men in similar situations that have managed to overcome this discomfort/pain.
