Maybe this will help others so thought I'd share...
Yesterday whilst feeling hungover and sad about my STBXW with whom I recently decided to reintroduce no contact , I started to reflect back on the last year and to be honest felt pretty proud of what I achieved. Of course, I had weak moments such as binge drinking for the whole weekend on several occssions as well as being a pushover/begging at the beginning of the separation but overall I managed to write a full A4 list of positive things such as:
I'm proud I managed to implement a daily stretching and core workout routine that I followed 9/10 times
I ran my first ultra marathon and exceeded my expectations
I trained hard even when I felt depressed and hungover
I became a more confident team leader at work
I tried things that make me uncomfortable, such as taking dancing lessons
I've worked on my diet
I learned to stand my ground with (partners name) and prioritise my needs/expectations
I'm grateful my parents have been very supportive
I raised £800 for a charity
I know people do daily gratitude lists etc but I thought something like this may be helpful to some? I wrote down all the positive things from January to December and it made me feel much more optimistic regarding the future, as it proves its possible to find strength and happiness during hard times. I've hung this up on my wardrobe door so hopefully it will help me when I'm feeling down in the near future
Happy New Year to all, remember to work on yourself, be strong but also kind to yourself and acknowledge that some weak moments will happen but that's okay!
