I'm sure you'll get a lot of replies from guys that have had the same experiences. I really think that it boils down to a numbers game and it's going to take just as much luck as it does a good profile picture and interesting bio.

Things that I've read that women say is don't send generic "hey" messages. Have multiple current pictures that don't have exes or fish in them. Build your entire profile. My guess is that if they're getting tons of messages, many go unopened, so not much you can do about that.

I can't offer advice since I'm not on any apps, but I can tell you everything that I see and read about it. The prevailing storyline is that women are saturated with messages, so they get overwhelmed. The data also suggests that most women swipe left on 85%-95% of profiles. So from a woman's perspective, it's a buyers market.

That's a start, but I was referring to being to spend time alone with yourself without a bunch of outside stimulation. I don't mean sitting in a room alone staring at the floor for hours at a time, but just the ability be with yourself without your mind spiraling out of control. If that's something you genuinely struggle with, look for some outside help. It doesn't matter what form that help takes. Good luck brother.

Agreed, with the caveat of gender doesn't really matter. Deriving your sense of self-worth from another person or persons isn't the right way to go. I fully believe that everyone should not just tolerate it, but enjoy spending some time alone.

Just my observation from life in general: it seems that many people don't like when men complain publicly about being a victim. You would probably receive a few comments that sound supportive, but most people that aren't your closest friends or family won't care. Do yourself a favor and delete that.

I want to clarify something because I don't think I worded it correctly in my post. I don't have any thoughts about reconciling. That ship has sailed. When her boyfriend moved in, that was the last shovel full of dirt on a dead marriage for me. My curiosity only comes from being astounded that she thinks that I could somehow forget the last 4 years. Even if I was a complete moron with zero self-esteem and I got back together with her, I would be paranoid non-stop anytime I saw something that loo…

Yeah, the guy moving in with her sealed the deal for me. There's nothing that she can say or do that would ever make me forget that happened.

Yeah, that's me. Trip is coming up in about 6 weeks. I have no intention of backing out of it. She fucked me up good with her bullshit at the end of our marriage. She had me doubting everything about myself. Even though nothing long-term will happen with this other woman, she's gotten my mind back right. She respects me, she praises me when I do shit right and calls me out when my insecurities start to creep in. I could never thank her enough for helping me get back to a good place.

I don't mind admitting that I care about my ex. She's still the mother of my children and I don't have any hard feelings towards her. I just couldn't understand how the person that checked out of the marriage 4 years ago could be affected by learning that I'm going on what basically amounts to a date.

I think you may be right. When I told the woman I'm going to see that I'd gotten everything squared away as far as the kids being taken care of, she said that when my ex found out that I was visiting a woman, she'd have a negative reaction. I remember saying to her that there no way since she's clearly moved on with her life. But my European woman nailed it from thousands of miles away without knowing my ex from a can of paint. Meanwhile, I lived with the woman for almost 20 years and couldn't s…

That's the thing you should work on. Being deathly afraid of being alone at your age isn't rational. You have to find out what's causing that irrational fear and work on ways to overcome it. I'm not trying to sound like a social media psychologist, but there has to be a root cause behind that fear. Get into therapy. Talk about your relationship, but that shouldn't be your primary reason for being there. Get to the bottom of those feelings and work on that. I promise you, the hurt you're feeling …

Old advice given to young heartbroken women by older women in decades past: "The best way to get over someone is to get under someone else." That's just to say, that advice has been around for a long time. I don't really agree with it. I feel like the time right after a long relationship is for self reflection and getting your mind centered. Not banging someone just to get a nut.

Work on why being alone makes you fearful first before doing anything else. If you can't be happy being alone, you won't ever be truly happy with someone else. I'm not saying become a hermit, but the prospect of not having a significant other shouldn't fill you with fear.

I don't think she can legally kick you out of your own home if your name was on the lease. Please stand up for yourself. Your wife has demonstrated that she is not going to take you or your situation into consideration. What about your kid? Where are they in all of this?

I've seen many people in this forum strongly advise against moving out to avoid negative consequences surrounding what could legally be viewed as abandonment.

In the abridged words of Thomas Paine: To argue with a person who has renounced the use of reason is like administering medicine to the dead. Simply put, you can't use logic and reason to change the mind of an unreasonable person.

No, I don't want to stay married at this point. I've accepted that we're not reconciling. Our plan at the beginning of this was to just go through mediation. No lawyers. We each keep our retirement. Property has already been split (no house). She's responsible for her own debt and I have mine. No child support or alimony since we make roughly the same salary and kids spend an equal amount of time with both of us. Literally the only thing left is to do paperwork to legally dissolve the marriage. …

There is life after bankruptcy. Obviously, your credit will take a hit, but you can recover. There are ways to help rebuild your credit score while you're still in your payment plan. Your attorney should have some recommendations. If they don't volunteer it, ask. The most important thing to do going forward is to make sure all of your payments are made on time. No exceptions. That's the biggest factor that affects your credit score after your bankruptcy. Some doors will be closed to you while in…

When I read your short story, it immediately made me think of a video clip I saw not long ago where Jordan Peterson explained that women tend to display aggression and hostility through reputation destruction, malicious gossip, and innuendo. I know that Peterson isn't universally beloved and can be quite controversial, but there are clinical studies that support exactly what he stated. This is simply how most women behave when they act out of aggression towards someone who pisses them off.

We've tried to have some conversations with him about it, but he's hesitant to really open up. More importantly, we've made sure not to put him in a position where he feels like he has to choose between us. He does have some feelings about holding his mom responsible for the separation, and he's seen that she's been talking to another man. What I really want to avoid is my ex getting overly emotional and blowing up an otherwise fairly smooth process because she blames me for him not spending eno…

Get a therapist dude. Don't try to stumble around and find your way out of this maze of emotions by yourself. Family and friends are great for support, but most times they don't truly understand what you're dealing with. Do a little research online and find a therapist who has a focus on separation/divorce. Don't expect immediate results, but also don't stick with the same therapist if you feel like you're not making progress after a sufficient amount of time. Make sure you also address your fea…

I'm a firm believer that if you can't stand being alone, you've got no business being with someone else. Do something constructive to address your fears and let that be your focus for a while. If there's one person in the world that you should always enjoy spending time with, it's you.

Just don't make this a regular hangout place. Divorce is messy and brings out lots of negative emotions. Being surrounded by nothing but negativity isn't really a good idea.
