I agree that the Muslim example is not one to be exemplified. This sentence in your comment jumped out at me: plenty of women are very eager to marry and settle down and are not able to find men willing to commit. And I wonder whether giving men more rights over their wives (or rather, taking away the restrictions on their rights) might increase the number of men willing to marry?

I agree with you re: the ridiculous restrictions and governmental overregulation I think it's interesting that you view this as having an Islamic genesis. Do you think that, without the government intervention, the idea of women having a guardian is something that would fit into western ideals?

Thank you for your thoughtful response. I tend to agree with you. I think the sentiment that Roosh pushes is generally a good one, but that government regulation/interference would simply compound the problem. Men need to be given space from regulation to get society back into a good working order.

That makes a lot of sense to me. Less regulations rather than more will lead to reasonable behaviour being enforced. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I like the emphasis on households rather than individuals. I feel we have lost our strength in losing the cohesiveness of our families.

That's very interesting Sunhappy. I think that most women today enjoy their autonomy. However, are we the best people to decide whether or not it is good for us, or for society as a whole?

Lady_Baker, the origins of this idea were definitely long before Roosh. The biblical implications are very interesting. Do you think that this "thread" of the Bible is underemphasised in modern religious teaching? It is beyond my scope to state whether we are innately less capable I fully agree that this is not a choice women can make, as it is based on women not being capable of good choices! I'm not sure how a transition would work. To my mind, it would involve the disintegration of current so…

I wonder what the effects of removing existing regulations, rather than adding more in, might be. Many women would have choice removed without the protections of state enabling her choice. Perhaps less regulations might lead to a more "natural order" of society.

People are the worst! I have actually had this type of thing happen to me, but not coming from anyone as close as in-laws. I agree with /u/cats_or_get_out that agree and amplify is a good way to go. When my love gets home, no matter what I am doing I stop immediately and go and greet him with a kiss. He frequently tells me this is why he loves me- "You are always happy to see me!" It reminds me how important he is to me, and how lucky I am to have him in my life.

This is a really nice and easy satay sauce recipe my fMIL shared with me: Sauté 1/2 a small brown onion, finely diced, in a teaspoon of oil. Add 1 garlic clove and 1 small red chilli, both finely diced, and heat until aromatic. Take off the heat and add 1/4 cup natural crunchy peanut butter and stir till melted. Return to heat, add 1/2 cup of water, 1tbspn fresh lemon juice, 1.2 teaspoon balsamic vinegar, 1/2 teaspoon brown sugar and stir until combined. This is super yummy on top of some lightl…

I've never felt the need to second guess his happiness with me, to wonder if he just says I look pretty to avoid an argument, or any of that sort of nonsense. Everything can be taken at face value, and it's wonderful. This is something I love so, so much about my SO. No mind games, no lies, he tells it like it is. It's so reassuring and straightforward :) Thanks for writing this lovely post. I identified with a lot of what you said, and your happiness made me smile! You are lucky to have found a…

I'm making a big lot of satay vegetables for dinners this week (exams coming up so I'm trying to make it easy) and over the weekend I'm super keen to try this sort of layered potato/onion dish that has no name, but my fMIL makes frequently and my SO loves. It's so nice to have a fridge full of fresh fruit and veg, it makes me feel inspired to cook some new healthy meals :)

A small win- yesterday we went down to the giant fruit and veg markets 10 minutes before close and managed to get two weeks worth of fresh goods for under $15. It's super busy and fast-paced and involves lots of pushing and shoving and calling out which is not really my personality at all! But it was fun and he was so happy afterwards he bought us a cheap meal and we sat in the park and had an epic conversation. Yay. A larger win- I've been organising us moving house. It does sound sort of defeatist. But we can't change anyone but ourselves. I really hope it helps you in your relationship. I feel much less tightly wound and much more chilled out, happy and positive now that I really love my man for who he is and not what he can do for me!

I've found a few things personally, but the claimed benefits are a lot higher (for example, there's evidence to indicate it's the most effective treatment for hypertension, in conjunction with a low salt diet). For me though, there are psychological benefits (I'm not dependent on food, I don't eat habitually, I learn what it feels like to be actually hungry, etc.). These have lead me to have a healthier diet and healthier eating habits. I have also found a major physical benefit is lowered infla…

This post and its responses have really given me pause for some self reflection. I have come a long way over the past three years when it comes to covert contracts. The major thing that has changed our relationship for the better is me lowering my expectations. I lie. Getting rid of my expectations. That might sound terrible, like I am "settling" or "giving up". But in reality, I have learned that my SO does not owe me anything. I have established that he is a great guy, I enjoy his company and …

I really think about 90% of it is just picking the right person for you. I agree with this so strongly. My fiancé and I very rarely fight. Our unique ways of freaking out, sulking, and disagreeing complement each other, so that very few situations escalate past me hiding under a duvet losing my temper in my head or him taking a walk and both of us having a sensible chat afterwards. I also agree on the "right person" idea. I am all for maintaining your individuality, both as a dating single and w…

wearing the same shirt three days in a row This is great. Hilarious, but also so, so true. I think hardworking men just need someone in their corner, letting them know that prioritising work is OK, and that sometimes there are more important things than avoiding outfit repeating ;) That said, before we lived together I did used to jump in and do a little washing of dishes and clothes to avoid a very similar situation! Definitely agree on the mothering front though. It's a fine line to tread.

I’ll kick this off with: “Worry about your own story “(A CS Lewis quote, I believe) was something my mother used to quote at as continually as children when we were more concerned with our siblings’ misbehavior than our own… Clean up after yourself as you cook a meal. really encouraged to happen was my husband being a hands on, very involved father. I think this is so important. I see a lot of children who are "mummy's girls/boys" because mummy continually overrides their father's parental authority. I can't think of anything ruder than to treat your SO as a lesser parent than yourself. I think it is tough when, like you say, your SO works many more hours and you are forced to make a lot of decisions without always having a chance to consult him. This happene…

Interesting questions. I'm not saying evolution has all the answers- and in fact the theory of evolution is not applicable prior to the origin of life. However, I choose to go with a logic based theory rather than a faith based theory, as a very personal choice. I don't judge those who choose otherwise. Appendicitis itself is not a genetic disease, but a predisposition towards appendicitis is thought to be hereditary. I think your beliefs about individual organisms being good parallel mine surro…

I have actually read quite a number of studies that have found novel variation in organisms with short generation cycles such as bacteria. I can give you some links to these if you are interested, but again, I don't want to "convince" you out of your beliefs, but merely to understand your perspective. I do agree with you that the vast number of mutations have deleterious effects. Due to natural selection, these mutations would normally be lost quickly from the gene pool. I think it will be inter…

The wiki does state that RPW is for the discussion of sexual strategy from an anti-feminist, traditionalist, and/or evolutionary psychology perspective. I think that a greater understanding of evolutionary psychology (and biology too!) can help us to put concepts like hypergamy into a very real scientific context. I remember when I first learnt about Bateman's Principle it really gave me pause for thought about how human societal structure and norms have developed from very primitive, core biolo…

This is very interesting. Again, I'm also reluctant to engage in a "debate" per se, and definitely do not want to push the limits in regard to subreddit rules. I do wonder, however, about your beliefs surrounding genetics. It sounds like you do believe that genes are passed down from parents to children. I'm curious- do you subscribe to the theory of natural selection? In other words, do you think that genes that result in traits that give an organism a survival advantage are more likely to be p…

This article is really interesting. I agree with what she is saying. I think it shows respect to your partner and your relationship to maintain your attractiveness. That said, that is just one aspect of being a good wife. It shouldn't necessarily be the highest of your priorities, depending on what is needed and wanted by your SO at any particular time during your relationship. I tend to agree. An area where you need to lead by example perhaps. I was unfazed when I learned of this logic as a teenager. It made sense. Thanks for sharing this BSC. I totally agree, and feel fortunate that this was the type of environment in which I grew up. Do you think you would specifically explain this to your children? I personally grew up with our parents telling us they loved everyone in the family equally (which was definitely true) but in actions it was evident that they were each other's first priority (with no detriment to us, I should add). As I got older, I realised this is not how all families work. A part of me wi…

Your answers are very similar to what mine would be, I think. I'm assuming that this It would probably be enforced more so, not less. Means that children would not become the centre of the universe, and the idea of a family unit with a paternal leader/captain would be taught to your children? Also, I totally agree that culture is observed, but how would you counter the external influences of culture that your children would observe. Would you discuss these influences with them? Would you portray…

My most recent hamster moment was absolutely typical of me. When my SO is tired (I'm talking super tired here, like a few hours of sleep a night type thing), he often doesn't respond when I talk to him, or he responds very briefly. He's not annoyed at all, just zoned out and chill. I get very worried that I've done something that's pissed him off. I never have, but asking about it multiple times usually does the trick! My bad. You have received some awesome advice in all of the other comments. I just wanted to add my two bits, which is this. No matter how often you praise him and try to build him up, a single criticism will tear down all your hard work. It's just the way the mind works in people with low self esteem. One of my personal ways to help keep my posture in check (as much as possible) is to sit on a physio ball while I'm at my computer. This works so well. I have a very sedentary lifestyle at the moment, with plenty of computer time. Although I exercise plenty that is not enough. Yes! We also live in houses that we can't paint or majorly redecorate. I have found that floor rugs, curtains, and nice cushions on the couch are a great start. To be perfectly honest, the thing that has most turned our house into a home was purchasing our own piano! Seems random, but it somehow anchors our house into something permanent and ours.

A pressed skirt, shirt or slacks look so chic compared to something that might be rumpled. Also consider fabrics that wear well and stand the test of time. I love this point! Also developing a uniform of sorts makes getting dressed one thousand times easier and shopping one thousand times easier. When I work full time, I like to have a set of dark coloured (below the knee) skirts and trousers, and around 10 blouses, as well as a couple of dresses. Read, read and read some more. Get off the internet. Train your brain out of its “instant reward”, skim reading habits. Start off with a magazine, poetry anthology or book of short stories. Work your way up to some full length non-fiction or novels. Check out the wiki for some RPW essentials. Relearn to focus deeply.

I'm new here too, and I'm sure many users can better explain this to you. However, from my understanding, "The Red Pill" does not equal "Red Pill". In other words, you can be red pill, without subscribing to all the ideas promoted in the TRP subreddit. I should add here that this subreddit (unlike /r/redpillwomen) is not affiliated with TRP. Rather, it is based in the early manosphere and red pill ideas. From the wiki: We align ourselves with the thinkers of the early years of the manosphere, an…

Hi /u/littleteafox. I know you've received a ton of feedback, but I just wanted to chime in and add my experiences. I think that being a perfect fit with any family is a fairytale. I know for sure that I'm not even a perfect fit with my own. But the thing about families are that they aren't perfect, but you have to love them anyway, and they have to love you back. To me, that's what family is, whether they are biological or bonus. My SO's family have always been kind to me, but I never felt as t…

Thank you so much for sharing this! I love how you have taken the headers from the Forbes article and rewritten them in a Captain/First Officer format. I love this post! It isn’t a bitch fest. It is a math problem at this point. Yes, yes and more yes! My SO loves problem solving, but hates circular whinging... I think this is the critical point, except perhaps for... Getting married as a teenager was probably the defining fact of her life. At eighteen, it made her different. A little down the track, she's just one of a crowd, and attributing all her problems to getting married young. She seems to be sad to have missed out on the girly drama years- interesting how grass is always greener... Poor husband. Thanks for sharing Tempest. It was a good/frustrating read!

This week I have managed to get a bunch more meals prepped for quick cooking when I get home from work. I've also exercised almost every day this week, which makes my SO super happy. "Trust me, if he likes you, he'll learn to wait." Ugh. People are the worst. And you can be sure that if you mentioned that he was late for you it would be "Trust me, if he liked you, he'd be on time!" Worst. I want a man who doesn't put up with other people's sh*#. By never behaving badly when we were dating, I have a man like that. But if I had been consistently late, or prioritised work over him etc., there is no way I would be living with, engaged to and in love with him today. Thanks for th…

because I love knowing that I've fed her well and made her day just a little bit easier Yay! This is one of the reasons I love cooking for my SO. Your question is very similar to what I was struggling with when I first moved in with my partner. what if she doesn't feel like eating what I've picked for the week? You say that she doesn't want to think about food. Do you think she would be open to looking over a meal plan and letting you know if it was all good with her? Otherwise, you've been livi…

I had this exact issue with my SO. In my family it's considered the worst of manners to keep another person waiting. For my SO, you aren't late unless it's almost time to go home. Now that I come to think of it, this has been an area that RP theory has really helped me in. Before, I used to nag about getting out the door on time, because I valued the time of whoever was at the event we were going to. Now I value my SO above all others. The result is the same- we are still 5 minutes late- but we …

I totally agree with this! I sometimes talk to people who tell me that they never go to the gym, or study for college, or whatever because they have no motivation. Motivation is not, "Yay, I get to sit at my desk reading boring information for the next four hours." My motivation is "I'm going to get good grades and a good job." Difficult tasks are not always fun, but they are usually rewarding. You can't expect you are always going to feel like it! Thanks for this point. The autopilot thing work…

I love this so much. Successful couples accept and understand that some conflict is inevitable, that there will always be certain things they don’t like about their partners or things they don’t agree with, and that this is fine. I think part of surrender is accepting your partner's flaws, and not becoming hung up on changing them. It's living in the present, and enjoying it. It makes for a peaceful and secure relationship. holy crap she makes me a better person even though I hated hearing it at…

This is so true! I have seen this save a male friend of ours. We knew him when he was single, and he took a lot of risks and spent money with great abandon. I'm super excited for this mother's day. My mother lives in another city, and usually my SO doesn't invite me to his family's Mother's Days, birthdays, etc. After we'd been dating a while I got a bit curious why he didn't- turns out his mother likes "just family" at family events. Something can merely be "wrong" or "weird" or a deal breaker without being abusive. This is such a good point. I think society as a whole is very ready to cry abuse in circumstances which are, as you say, just wrong or weird. Wrong or weird can be dealt with- either put up with, gotten used to, or negotiated away. Abuse is a very singular category that really cannot be explained away, reasoned or dealt with. Thanks for the reminder.

This whole comment is just fantastic. I really admire women who handle being part of blended families, and women who can stand by their husbands/partners when the chips are down. You've really inspired me with your attitude towards some pretty tricky problems. I'm honestly so moved by this comment. Thank you!

1. What are you proud of this week? I've been to a few social events with my SO's social circle, and have been getting on very well and fitting in with his friends. This is challenging for me, as I have very little in common with these people, and find small talk a chore. I know he really appreciates my efforts though, as he always tells me how good it was to have me with him at whatever event it was. 2. What aren’t you proud of? How can you improve? Understanding that men and women are different, express themselves differently, "feel" love and affection differently and through different processes, is the cornerstone of Red Pill. This is such an integral idea. It's an easy trap to fall into to love someone the way you would like to be loved, instead of how they need to be loved. So my husband Betas out on me and gives me all these tender kisses and hugs while I cry-it-out instead of rocking his world. Then I just end up wanting to rock his w…

Thank you for sharing this /u/margerym. I admire men with strong self control, and feel that part of being alpha and holding frame is the ability to act intentionally, rather than uncontrollably, in the face of anger and other emotions I have personally never experienced an abusive relationship. I am so thankful that the man I am with has strong, non-negotiable boundaries that he defends thoughtfully, rather than abusively. That line of abusive vs corrective is a really great point. This is such a lovely post! Thank you for making me examine my relationship! Low points in our relationship almost always occur when one of us is working long hours. Such awfulness. Some women get so caught up in their fairytale endings that they don't realise that you don't get to write your fairytale, you just have to hope someone else might, and love them hard enough that anything they choose is your fairytale (getting proposed to while sitting on the kitchen table, anyone?). They also forget that a fairytale ending is getting to hold the hand of your loved one (or them hold yours) while you slip away in your sleep a good time after your three score and t…

I discovered red pill when a friend mentioned a "stupid subreddit with a matrix reference in the name"- turns out curiosity does kill the cat. Maybe it was a bad week, but I was bombarded with some interesting theories set amidst a wave of hatred against/anger towards all women. But I kept reading! I don't have anything to add to this thread as far as listing characteristics goes- everyone has been so thorough! However, I will say this. An old man told me once that "The role of the teacher is to make himself redundant." Of course, a good mother will never be redundant to her children. But she should make the role she played for them as young children and teenagers no longer necessary. She should create resilient and self-sufficient adults. Sometimes that path might need her to comfort and …

The 4 sides model is very interesting to think about. I don't nag very much, but sometimes I catch myself "reminding" my SO to do something. Perhaps because I don't nag much, he tends to interpret this (with his relationship ear) as spoken in love, rather than a nag. I realise I don't have many get-out-of-jail free cards, so I do use them sparingly. Great post, thanks for sharing!

This is such an awesome idea! I think I might give it a go :) My biggest problem is following up on something I have agreed to and then regretted- I struggle to be positive about it! "Yes" goes much deeper than just a word- the attitude of "Yes" is both essential and nourishing to relationships and self.

Reading this I was struck by how raw your emotions are, and how much courage it must have taken to share them. Thank you for doing so. I hope the benefits will be twofold; many women will learn from both your mistakes and your newfound accountability, and you will find support and hope in a community of women who are just trying to do their best in a world in which many relationships are set up to fail. I wish you all the luck.

It's just so unbelievably important. When you think about it, parents' love for each other is what a family is founded upon. Without it, I don't think you could ever expect your children to be fully secure or invested in being part of your family.

This is absolutely inspiring. I love it. This is probably the main thing RPW has taught me- to go along with my SOs plans, to get involved and value what he loves. I have never tried to change my man, but I definitely subscribed to the more feminist idea that he could do as he wished, and so would I. If that ended separately, so be it. I was blind to the idea that separateness breeds distance. It seems so obvious, but is so obscured in our individualistic society. Thank goodness for some great R…

I can relate to the short temper. I tend to remove myself from the equation when I am tired, hungry or overloaded with social interaction/noise because I know that I struggle to contain my tongue in those circumstances! This is a really interesting article! I personally met my future husband through volunteering at the same organisation. It's exciting how times are changing. I think with the downturn in propinquity, family and church as agents of relationship instigation, we have seen a rise in online dating for a reason. It acts as a filtration system, allows us to screen potential partners for suitability. Once upon a time, we had family and community doing that work for us. But now with cars and planes and t…

This is so important! I am fortunate enough to have a family tradition of this, and it's just the best thing. I remember being a kid and baking a cake from a recipe written in my great grandmother's handwriting (whom I had never met) and being in awe that she had baked and eaten the same food that I was about too! Thanks for the comment! The clutter thing is really tough. I'd recommend starting with one room (or even cupboard, depending on how much time you have) per week. The key thing is not just to put stuff away, but to actually get rid of things, so that it doesn't return to haunt you as clutter. A lot of people love the Kondo Method, and although it's personally not my thing, it's definitely worth checking out.

That is true. The Jacob/Cal relationship is definitely front and centre! I like that it isn't your traditional "chick flick". But I definitely feel that the inauthenticity of the Jacob/Hannah pairing could be attributed to its lack of screen time, rather than (necessarily) poor or false dynamics.

I would go with a something like "I'm looking for a serious relationship." Most guys will get that you aren't looking for casual sex from that! Out of interest, have you told the guys you've been meeting up with that you are a virgin before you meet them in person?
/r/RedPillWives26/04/16 12:25 AM

A week is better than a month. You should talk to a guy for as short a time as is practical. Around a week is probably good. Would you be willing to have sex on the fist date? It can be a good line to filter out those looking for an easy lay. I think that telling them you are looking for something serious could be very helpful. These are definitely the things you should be focusing on, rather than whether or not you've had sex before.

I don't know if you will take this advice, but personally I'd go with less time on texting, and more potential meet ups. Have a few vetting procedures in place (age, no sex on first date or whatever) and if they're still keen, meet up! If talking on the phone is an option, go with that over texting. But face to face is always best.

I'm also outside of the US, and I agree that OLD is a little different. However, choose a standard first date, like going to grab a coffee in a public space. If they're creepy or weird, write it off as a waste of an hour or so. If not, line up a second date.

That's fantastic. I can't recommend that Art of Charm podcast enough, either. It's to do with flirting for women, which is a fine art. Are you still online dating? I have a good friend who found the love of her life through OLD. She was 35, wanting marriage and kids, and within a year and a half she was happily married and pregnant. Waiting till 30+ may not be the ideal situation, but some men have figured out that women of this age are looking for a serious, committed relationship, and often ha…

Did you like the movie? It was alright. It was a good for some laughs, but definitely not an all time favourite, or even a re-watch. Favorite parts/quotes? I laughed out loud when all the beaten up men are sitting on a bench and the policemen gets David Lindhagen's name wrong, and three of the four men on the bench correct him, thanks to Cal's repetitive complaining! What did the movie get right? I think the reality of divorce on the children was well represented, especially at the point where t…

1. How have you brought value to your relationship in the last week? How do you plan on doing it this week? (if you are single, this can be applied to friendships and family) This week I've brought value by being loving and considerate, making sure he doesn't need to worry about any housework when he gets home from work, being a fun person to be around! Next week I plan to keep up the usual things, and add in a few more home-cooked meals, and maybe get done a few of "his" jobs, like mowing the l…

My husband went to a networking event and there was a ton of food and people were bringing home leftovers. My husband can't seem to think five minutes in front of his own face so the fact that he remembered he had a 5 months pregnant wife at home was shocking to me. Not so shocking? He left the food on top of his car. 😂😂 This is so cute! Totally something my SO would do. How lovely, and hilarious!

Definitely no monk mode! Read Laura Doyle's The Surrendered Single, listen to the Kimberly Seltzer Art of Charm podcast and practice, practice practice. Go on many dates, be charming. Be the woman men want to spend time with! You will eventually find a man who is happy to find a woman who has a low n count, and is looking to be committed to her SO. Our mother was very much a role model to us, and talked a lot about expectations and appropriate behaviour. Our relationship with our mother did not change very much into our teenage years, as this continuous communication of expectations meant that we were very aware of our role in our family. I'm sorry that this is happening to you. To help you interpret the advice you are receiving here in the context of RPWives, women are encouraged to vet men thoroughly before marriage/children. Once you are married or committed, RPW holds that you cannot change your man, only yourself. I hope this helps you take the best advice from what you have been given, and apply it to your own situation. Best of luck, and many good wishes. <3

Thanks for your comment, it's awesome to hear from someone who isn't a regular poster! Red pill wives is about sexual strategy for women. It's such a difficult thing to work on! When I was a child my father used to get very frustrated if we came to him with a problem and then shot down his solutions. Everyone has given you really good answers here. My thoughts would be that sometimes people don't have enough going on in their lives to create challenges, and they feel they need to create them within their relationship. The only highs and lows they are getting are self-created. However, if you have a solid and trusting relationship and external forces act on you, you still experience the highs and lows, but with none of the gradual trust erosion that can occur if you create those highs and low…

I have had so much experience with this. You can only clean up someone else's mess so many times before that makes you as grumpy and resentful as nagging does! In our house, we countered this by setting some firm, non-negotiable rules. For example, we eat dinner early, and clean up after ourselves, so the kitchen is clean by 7pm. So we asked the housemate to make sure the kitchen is clean by 9pm each night (tell them it's to avoid mice or something if need be!). Then we wrote a list of what a cl…

I loved this blog post. I think womanhood should be celebrated, and this can be challenging in a community influenced by the idea that women are simply an algorithm- you do x, they do y. I have known many strong, wise women who have served and endured more than many could imagine. We are fortunate to have the wisdom of older generations to lean on. Our nature is a precious thing, and most of the women on RPW are here to cultivate that nature into something better than it currently is. Great post…

I agree- I'm not busy, but if I had more time, I'd be filling it with things that would be great for me and my SO. And yes, in the old system men worked very very hard, in order to support their wives and children. But if he had a good wife, he would be coming home each night to a clean house, a hot meal and a content family. Perhaps some non-internet feminists actually work to improve women's reproductive health in a 3rd world country, for example. But you can be certain that all the internet feminists are doing is making outraged videos and hoping they'll get enough advertising revenue to live off them. Which adds to their wage-gap argument, of course.

I think BSC has pretty much covered it with the affirmations she has listed. I would add that at this time, of all the time you will ever be in a relationship with this man, this is the time you most need to let things slide. Expect that he will be grumpy, lazy, tired or irritable. You would be too in his situation. Sometimes when an issue is ongoing it's hard to keep putting your needs aside and cutting your SO some slack. But that is what he needs. Keeping you needs to take zero effort on his …

I agree, and alongside this point, I think something we have lost with the patriachy is people with time. I completely understand that society has set up a system where it is often impossible for a wife to stay at home and raise her own children; many families require a dual income to survive. However, I think in this system becoming the norm, we have lost something utterly invaluable. Having a person in a family with time to raise children under 6, time to care for ageing parents, time to cook …

One of the comments: "I love when feminists bitch about men occupying the top rungs of industry etc. but have a career bitching about shit on the internet..." The representation of internet feminists is... interestingly biased, and I feel it doesn't support their case in any way.

Very true. Poor word choice on my part. I think you are right, letting go of anger is the key, whether that is by letting it fly or letting it dissipate :)
/r/RedPillWives13/04/16 01:21 PM

I agree with your last point. I know that this is probably not the most RPW of behaviours, but I tend to take my anger away and stew for a while. Most of the time I realise I was over-reacting and it wasn't worth a fight. If I decide it was over something that was important to me, I can raise it again in a rational, balanced way, without being clouded by anger. My grandmother and mother raised me to "Least said, soonest mended," and I am trying to take that to heart. I am sure there is much to b…

Something I got from this was that spending hours putting on makeup and doing your hair before going on a date is going to be completely pointless if you have an unpleasant personality! And to extrapolate this into a LTR... If you let your negative traits run wild once you've "settled" into a relationship, it may not end well. I enjoyed this, thanks!

I really like this post. This is something I have to be very aware of. My fiancé tends towards disorganised, particularly with paperwork and bills. I've learnt how to be helpful (organising bills with the ones due to be paid first on top) rather than irritating ("you haven't paid it yet??"). I have also invested in a monthly planner that is making our week-to-week schedule run much more smoothly.

I have had the same experience. I remember once I scraped a car in a carpark, and the driver jumped out and started screaming at me in front of her daughter, even though it was partly her fault! I took a step back and said, "Please stop shouting at me, it was an accident." From that point on she was as nice as pie. People are strange...

I am genuinely fond of my partner: I love the way he'll grab me when he wants a cuddle, no matter where we are or what we are doing. One of the many good times happened over the weekend, where we went into town for a cheap dinner and shared a plate of Malaysian food. Ended up happy and full and wandering through town hand in hand. A surprise gift for tonight... I think I'll make his favourite dessert and pick up some ice-cream when I am out today. Ugh... How to pick just one physical attribute..…

I'm the same with this. I struggle with super-negative days and I'm finding I can't just switch that negativity off. I try to tell my SO in advance that I'm not having the best of moods, and once I send that text or say those words I find my behaviour is in the forefront of my mind, and I am less mindlessly reactive. Such a difficult thing to be aware of...

I love this post! Greetings and farewells are very important to us. My fiancé leaves for work very early and has never forgotten to give me a kiss goodbye, even though I'm usually asleep. We'll often joke about the stupid things I say when I'm half asleep. When he gets home from work, I'm usually home and I always make a point of stopping what I am doing and giving him a kiss and a hug and offering him something to eat. I'm crazy about him, so this comes naturally. He told me recently that his f…

I had the same response as you with this one. I feel like the determining factor of whether humour is "good" or "bad" is the intention behind it, rather than any particular "type". Interesting point to think about in a relationship dynamic however.

That's a really good point- it becomes more than a shit test, and morphs into meaningless power play. I have experienced the same in team situations and it is so frustrating! Making that link will help me remember not to put my SO in that same frustrating (and belittling) circumstance.

That last one... I remember reading a thread on TRP when I first started lurking. The guy said he didn't mind when women said "I don't care" because he took it mean "I don't mind." He offered one suggestion, and if they didn't take it, he said they needed to offer an alternative. Taking this on from a RPW perspective, I know my SO doesn't mind making decisions. Sometimes I really do NOT know what I feel like for dinner/what movie we watch. So I switched "I don't care" for "I don't mind" and alwa…

It's very common to take a year off here in Australia- we call it a "gap year". I think there have been a few studies to show that students who take a gap year end up changing their course plans a lot less than students who don't take a gap year. But I have heard it is difficult in the US because scholarships are offered at the end of school and can't be deferred (?). Over here, you can defer uni offers and scholarships for one year with no penalty.

I definitely agree with this one. I was a nanny for 6 months and it made me realise that a) I love mothering and b) I could NEVER deal with having an ex-husband (as the children's father was divorced from their mother and communication was shocking). A big learning experience.

It would be so lovely! Also, the wedding would be focused on you and your SO only, without all the pomp and who-you-must-invite-but-would-rather-not that seems so difficult to navigate.
/r/RedPillWives06/04/16 07:25 AM

It's very disappointing. We are hoping to avoid the most commercial aspects of the wedding industry. It's the principle of the matter!
/r/RedPillWives06/04/16 07:24 AM
5

I guess I'm so used to it that it doesn't really offend me. And you can apply to have it shortened if you have a valid reason. But I must admit... there was a part of me that was "Oh my goodness we are engaged! Can we get married tomorrow?"
/r/RedPillWives06/04/16 07:12 AM
4

It's amazing what a business the wedding industry has becoming (well, it has in Australia). Ours will be 7 months from engagement to ceremony to make sure all the important people can make it. But it will be a very low key affair, I think I would struggle to fill 7 months with wedding planning!
/r/RedPillWives06/04/16 06:34 AM
4

It is very odd! I remember watching American television about people who decide to get married in Vegas and thinking... "Wait... how is that legal?" It sounds like maybe they announced the engagement a little after the wedding planning began? Especially if it turned out really nicely.
/r/RedPillWives06/04/16 06:32 AM
6

The minimum you have to wait to get married by law is 1 month (you have to submit paperwork 1 month before your wedding date). But actually, I know so many people who have very, very long engagements. In fact I would say the norm in my peer group would be 1-2 years! I think our wedding industry is a pretty epic machine as well, but I think it's possible to get a wedding package all done for you at reasonably short notice.

Thank you for your reply! I have loved any threads discussing Laura Doyle's The Surrendered Wife. I've also been most influenced by a number of threads that have discussed treating your SO as a "guest" and treating your SO better than you treat any other person in your life. I think it is too easy to fall into the trap of taking another person for granted, and we often treat our friends better than we treat our family.
