Dude it almost seems like a form of LVM breadcrumbing throughout the relationship. Like they know you need the task done and they see the amount of praise and attention you’re willing heap upon them for doing a thing. So they immediately start gaming you on it. You’ll function as a tool dispenser (cutting the time and labor for the task down for him) and you, a woman, give him positive attention? Great that’s what he, a man, is entitled to anyway! It’s a power and control game being played only …

What’s hilarious is they believe this is a sign of their value, one of their assets! Like they had to work really super hard to gain the skills required to be on time, it’s their thing their good at, so it won’ it will not be let it go. They’re like state patrol agents, clocking everyone’s punctuality. If he can give anyone a citation he gleefully will. The anxiety is about someone else clocking him being late.

Would totally read this book! Yes- how’s it a woman’s job to teach a boy how to become a young man!? These boomer “fathers” for real just did not do anything.

My ex would Postmates McDonald’s. We lived like 8 blocks away- he could have walked, driven, rented one of those electric scooters that were on every block in our neighborhood. He could have even just asked me to go grab it for him. Nope. He grew up in a trailer up north, I grew up middle class in the south. He “got out” by joining the military. He was the one always pointing that out btw. Anyway, between the two of us- we were middle class. Instead of saving for a vacation, or spending the mone…

Then they’ll start kicking us out/divorcing us just to up the ante. I would have stayed with a previous partner and did for 10 years because I couldn’t get away from a shared 50/50 custody arrangement. Once he figured out that’s why I was there- he ended things because he “could tell I was unhappy” (knowing full well I’ll be the most unhappy with a 50/50 custody arrangement).

Dude. She probably was trying to spend more time with her kids- mandated by society anyway that moms be with their children 24/7- in addition to being labor trafficked by her family. Causing the internal conflict obviously where she was likely just defending her self and her boundaries. Sick and twisted for sure that anyone would reconnect her children go be with anyone other than her.

I’m sorry you’re going through this part as well. It has happened to a lot of women, including myself. It’s tough to need your friend yet your friend isn’t there for you in the way you’d expect. Do what you need to do as far as your belongings, if no one understands or supports you needing to get your things that’s on them. A lot of women feel it’s safest to just replace everything, I wasn’t one of those women. I insisted on getting my property. Doing so created a rift in some of my other relati…

Ah I hadn’t thought of it in terms of the boys media switching so drastically and I think you’re onto something major. I have a teenage son, and as he was hitting middle school I made sure we watched things like Heavyweights, Adventure Time, American Ultra, Shaun vs. The Dead. I’ve played Green Day on repeat for him since he was a baby. I mean. Not that Green Day are the epitome of HVM but the alternative being..? And yes the internet obviously. Well I vow to care for my mother. And she was not the best, but also my father finally died this year and it was an enormous relief. I could possible care for 1-2 other senior women, depending on how the treat others. As for the men- let them rot!

I keep seeing this theme- men don’t know how/can’t be men anymore because there are no “rites of passage”. Like, um, wdym? Getting a drivers license, registering for the draft, graduating high school- are these not rites of passage? Do they need a shaman and a bonfire after three phases of full sun and an owl hoot? What are they even wanting? What we have here is a feigned attempt at “being insightful instead of blaming women for all of men’s problems”.

Elder millennial here. Like, so old I’m almost an X. But in the 90’s we had L7, Babes in Toyland. My sister - who’s 7 years younger- had a completely different subculture by the time she was in her teens. I think somehow all culture started to cater to male sexual desire and not just being a person. Something in the way of the world died when Kurt Cobain did, lol. A few years later, when “they” came out with Bratz dolls I forbade them in my house for my daughter. I think that was the era of the …

I did not excuse rape. At all. Nor does the Bible. Nor does the Bible tell men to commit rape. I’m all for abolishing religion and restaurants, if that tells you anything about me. I don’t seek to inflame or be contrary to your beliefs. We may never be in the same place and really that is okay.

During war. Only going through with war with people who refuse to make peace. Also- specified is three groups- women, children, and livestock. So all living things of value- notice the men aren’t included as worthy of keeping alive. Your other examples are of what God says to do are consequences of the actions of people. God/Bible is definitely not instructing anyone, especially any man, to rape. To behave despotically, nor to devalue people or to elevate themselves over anyone in any way. Purgi…

You gave no examples of men being directly instructed by God or the Bible to be cruel, to rape, or be despotic. Men are depraved. I don’t see the benefit in trashing or delegitimizing religion or God or spirituality on account of their short comings.

This, to me, undermines women and women’s issues, and places women in double or even triple binds. Spirituality and religion are human experiences, and religion has been intentionally coopted into a utilitarian cattle prod for the imperial patriarchy. Nowhere in the Bible are men instructed to become slovenly, despotic cruel rapists. Sometimes I even believe absolute Patriarchy was achieved and therefore God sent a flood. Thousands of years later and we seem to be returned to absolute Patriarchy…

They also tend to gaslight and DARVO the hell out of the pressure they put on us to lower our standards. I’ve seen them rebrand their demands to lower our standards as us “being to hard” on ourselves! Also, grabbing a coffee is not something I’d EVER view as a “date”. Grabbing coffee is something I do as a part of my lifestyle for one. If I’m hanging out with someone, a friend relative or whoever, we grab coffee on the way to our destination. Or as a side of running errands.

Always! My grandfather loves and has supported my grandmother who’s struggled with mental health issues her entire life. Obviously tv isn’t real- but the show Shameless, which highlights all sorts of crazy behavior, a woman on there had mental health issues and her husband was kind and loving and took very good care of her while she was having an affair with Frank! Ah. Now I understand their fashion statements (or lack thereof). Idk why that never clicked before. Historically they dressed for other men to show their status on the hierarchy of the society of which they lived. The invention of Denim unfortunately didn’t come with a shift in their mindset 🤷🏻‍♀️

I totally agree here. Women are constantly rushed out of their homes to accommodate men. If you need the time, take it. I’ve had to take my time on a move out before, and I actually used the time to practice ignoring his feelings and focusing on mine, while he was right there in front of my face. It helped because it made it easier when I was away from him to stop my mind from wandering over to thoughts about him or what he was doing. Do what is safest for you.

I used to have a strong fear of my behavior being determined alienating or otherwise being used against me. It was very hard to master but for the most part- it’s just a powerful and effective bluff. He’s probably got you fearful of “alienating him from his children” while his true intention is hidden. What he’s truly trying to achieve is to unnerve you and make you appear inconsistent and too weak to enforce rules and boundaries. Absolutely gaslighting, and manipulative af. You can obviously sh…

So my estranged husband of 10 years married another woman about 7 years ago. He and I were married early 2000’s, and we never divorced. I’m contemplating just staying quiet and remaining married to him and then suing them both in 20 years after they’ve had a nice long while to build up their wealth. Is that doable?

IMO the situations aren’t the same. A man should never physically agress toward a woman nor joke about it. A woman, dramatizing aggressively for the sake of making a point toward another woman, while claiming ownership of what actually is- lawfully hers- is the high road.

I’m 40, and still 5’9. I’ve definitely spent time with men for whom my height seemed to be more of fetish or a way to enhance their own self-esteem/image. Attempted to get to know one man who was short- a generally fun guy to be around, valued his family, never missed work, we shared a lot of interests, and he had a really charming smile and twinkling eyes. It took all of 3 weeks before his insecurities about height to turn him into a negging douche. So, never again I swore. I also got pretty se…

I disagree. I think men don’t really care if they get what they want or achieve happiness. Men are told they can have access to sex and reproductive control through a wife. Men and women erroneously believe that will make them happy. I do agree that the majority of the male population acts in a way that appears calm obedient and productive. Ask most any wife and she will assure you- it’s just an act ;)

I’m just saying. Politely. That men should work on that. Perhaps a way to meet the standards of the women you supposedly want attention from- is to deal with yourselves and your sexuality for a change 🤷🏻‍♀️🥰

Patriarchy. “Family” court and school employees, social workers, and even women’s own family members would rather see a woman jailed, homeless, and on drugs than be happy and well on her own. If the woman wants to parent her own children then they’ll make sure she can’t. If the woman wants assistance from the man, they’ll make sure she doesn’t get it. I know a few mothers who are in public housing because the fathers have enlisted the courts to enforce custody and visitation the fathers have req…

Humans are wired to go after sugar. Sugar in and of itself cannot cause a human to do anything. Humans are capable of controlling, manipulating, sublimating, and creating multiple better ways of obtaining sugar than seeing sugar in the wild and drooling over it. Being wired for sugar doesn’t justify all actions toward sugar. Being wired for sugar doesn’t absolve you from viewing sugar as part of a whole food system.
