It always goes unstated, but in every movie and TV show I watch, the guy is taller than the girl. Here I am, binge watching Younger, and the main character is at least a foot taller than a potential date. A hot, successful, accomplished, beautiful woman. And yet when they lean in for a kiss- the same height!? Why? This is the patriarchy playing games. Why does the women have to be smaller, more fragile, little? What is wrong with the male ego that they have to physically dominate the woman? I’m starting to realise that this subconscious programming is making me (a 5’10” woman who loves to wear fabulous heels) feel insecure. How dare they!

This has been backed up by my dating history- my ex NVM shamed me if I wore heels. My last date asked me to take my shoes off mid first date (pre-FDS, and so I dumbly agreed out of shock) and then compared our heights, back to back, before saying “See, you’re no taller than me without heels” (I never asked/mentioned height... 🤨)

Why is this? What have been your experiences? Why the male fragility?
