Yeah, I made that experience too. I never even wore high heels, just regular boots that had slightly high soles and my ex would get angry and demand I wear different ones. He and I are both 5'2 so he couldnt stand me being even a little bit taller.

I'm not even tall and the bad attitudes short men have is exhausting. I dread to think how much worse it is for tall women. Finding a shorter man who is secure in his height isn't easy.

A lot of short men seem to have an attitude lol. They’re argumentative, get in fights, are always obsessed about their height, try to make you not wear heels so they feel secure about their height. I blame the patriarchy for enforcing the narrative that shortness equals feminine because it hurts both short men and tall women but I also refuse to be with a man shorter than 6 ft for this reason lol.

Cause they want to be the biggest and strongest and feel "emasculated" when a woman is taller, youre right its pathetic and theyre very fragile.

I’m 5’9” and East asian. You get called gross by insecure short guys at worst or kinda not even register as a woman the rest of the time. Honestly, I just laugh. It’s not my problem, so it’s not gonna ruin my day/life. What I really don’t get is if they obviously know you’re tall but still take issue about it (like your date). Also I think small women in their minds are just easier to push around or infantilize. No thanks!

6'2" here and dated a couple of insecure short scrotes. Got shamed for my height and told I was not "allowed" to wear high heels or any shoe other than flats, and told to shrink myself down for couples photos. One refused to take me on dates unless out of town because he said my height "embarrassed" him, and if we went to another town, it's "not like I'll run into those people again". Also lots of time wasted in my OLD days even when I put my height in my bio and scrotes still thought it was necessary to meet me to shame me about my height.

It’s weird but I had female friend do this to me. She flipped out when she found out she was two inches shorter than me. I thought she was joking but she wasn’t. So I have to go with narcissism as the reason. She was weirdly controlling when she thought she could get away with it too. Add in the fragile male ego on top of that...

I'm 5'9" and have dated a decent amount of guys the same height or slightly shorter than me. I've been lucky none of them cared if I wore heels or were taller they actually encouraged the heels so that was nice

I'm average height, an ex of mine was the same height (he swears he's taller) and wouldn't let us leave the house if I dared to wear shoes that made me taller than him, even my docs weren't allowed 🙄 so insecure

I think they believe shorter girls have tighter you know. Even guys over 6 feet need to date the tiniest little girls under 5 feet tall because they want to feel bigger. You ever seen one of those and how weird it looks? It looks like an adult man with a child. But that’s what men want. Short men can’t have that and it pisses them off. I am only 5’6 and I am called Amazon and too tall for a girl.

I’m 40, and still 5’9. I’ve definitely spent time with men for whom my height seemed to be more of fetish or a way to enhance their own self-esteem/image.

Attempted to get to know one man who was short- a generally fun guy to be around, valued his family, never missed work, we shared a lot of interests, and he had a really charming smile and twinkling eyes. It took all of 3 weeks before his insecurities about height to turn him into a negging douche. So, never again I swore.

I also got pretty serious with a man who was a half inch or so taller than I was. Never said a work about my choice of footwear, in fact it was like a normal relationship I had had with any other man where the height difference was within acceptable social parameters. Very very refreshing. A year into our engagement, we hit a rough patch in our lives and it showed in our relationship. He stopped working out, and tbh I feel like he shrank an inch. Then he spiraled. The negging started and I just was like “bye Bob”!

They have no original thought or center. Total external locus of control.

I'm 5'6, but my ex was only 5'2. I didn't care at all about the height difference and while he never explicitly said being shorter bothered him, it was clear that it did. At some point, a guy in our friend group started dating a 5"1 girl and my ex became obsessed with her. I'm convinced the main reason had to do with height. He hated being short. I did witness other men commenting on his height in a rude way. I think it's mostly men wanting to feel dominant and feeling less dominant if they are shorter than the average woman. I don't think they even feel insecure about their height as such... as usual, they just hate women taller than themselves instead. Why make it a "you" problem when you can just blame women instead, right?
