Yea I'm sorry that's the case man. I know exactly how you feel... I guess fortunately for me he knows I'll go to jail for life for my kids. But you are right. It's better to be there for them than locked away

That isn't allowed. I had a sit down meeting with my ex new boyfriend/ soon to be husband that the one thing he isn't allowed to do is discipline my kids. If something he feels is wrong, he's to tell my ex who can talk with me so we can work it out with our children. Sorry this happened to you op, I would lose my shit on that

Two recently divorced friends actually heh

Money. My kids say he's a pretty funny guy and all that. But from what I see its money motivated. We didn't make a lot of money when we were married. We had a home and stuff but not a lot of extra. Now he makes tons working for Facebook or something. So he's got money, and i guess he's nice enough when he isn't drinking. But man they are always drinking

He tried to pick a fight with me when he and my ex were incredibly drunk. He's a little guy, I'm 2x his size. I had gone to their house about an issue with my daughter so I wanted to talk to my ex face to face. Dude comes out stumbling all over the place, booze spilled all over his shirt and just starts interrupting our conversation over and over. I finally told him to go back in his house while we talk and he get all offended saying "you don't tell me what to do at my own house" ... my ex knows…

I'm sorry to hear all this bro. I divorced about 5 years ago and it's only really been within the last about 6 months that I feel like things are coming back together. I am fortunate that we divorced amicably, I didn't want it but when she said she was certain I didn't really fight it either. I don't have any advice on the money because we never set up child support. But from the divorce perspective... life will get better. Time will help

Exactly! They're just known to need replacement at 100k, she didn't want to hear me when I said I wouldn't buy it. I think it was actually gaskets first then transmission next. But she showed me, went and married a millionaire so. I guess she had the last laugh... except I'm happier than I've ever been haha

Haha this EXACT thing happened right after my divorce. She got a subaru with 110k miles or something, transmission went out first and then head gaskets. Shocker!

50/50 on paper but I actually have them a bit more. Like 60/40 or so. I'm the 60

Absolutely! I had a bit of an angry at life whore phase air my divorce so found a few females that were dtf, but that was only like 2 months. I really was focusing on it relationship with my kids and after about 2 years, we were super solid(they still have issues with their mom... she wanted the divorce) and when I did start dating finally they welcomed my girlfriend with open arms.

I told my ex she had to tell our kids that was entirely her idea. She did, and 3 years later they still show resentment towards her

It took me a good year or so to realize that the marriage I was in was incredibly bad for me. My mental health had improved greatly, as well as my relationships with both my kids. 3.5 years out and for the first time in a long time, I can truly say I'm happy. I still get along pretty well with their mom, but I've found myself in a relationship that I honestly never believed I was worth having. My girlfriend is truly amazing, she has an amazing relationship with my kids and I'm just so happy and …

This makes me laugh.. because yes I do, and my ex and her don't talk at all because exMIL doesn't approve of the divorce or the new guy. She actually pretty level headed and I call her on occasion for advice. I also send her pictures of my kids, her two grandchildren, because my ex wife doesn't talk to her at all or keep her updated on how they're doing. I feel bad for the exMIL cause it's her only two grand children
/r/Divorce_Men05/08/24 02:53 AM

Thanks for saying that man. In some ways I felt bad about it because my kids suddenly have a different mane for their mom but I just didn't see how it could be okay for her to keep my name.
/r/Divorce_Men06/07/24 01:55 PM
7

I told my ex to change her name. I was pretty bitter when the divorce happened, she wanted it I didn't. I have a very unique last name that gets lots of compliments and I didn't want her having that any more. She divorces me she doesn't get to Keep my name Looking back, I recognize I was being petty... but it is what it is, we've developed an okay relationship since. We have two kids together so I was finally able to put the pettiness aside for the sake of my kids

My time with my kids trumps everything. Current girlfriends, activities, you name it. The only thing I would have to give my kids to their mother for is if there is a work situation. I get them 50% and it breaks my heart still after 3 years of divorce, every time they go to their mothers

I take hydrocodone daily for nerve damage from a severe mrsa infection I had a decade ago. I ran out, I didn't bring the right amount to bali. The motorcycle was too good a deal to pass. And I've had motorcycles my whole life.. it wasn't an impulse buy, I had been looking for some time since I sold my buell. I was spiraling though. And I'm working hard on fixing that. Read the other responses I've made, you'll see what I mean

Ill never talk to her again. And I will never drink again. I'm 11 days sober. And enrolled in an intensive outpatient rehab. I'm working on it. Thanks for the feedback pal

My father killed himself after having been found guilty of voyeurism when I was 19. In my family there is a big stigma for sexual deviancy. I have issues with depression, my mind spiraled into thinking that I was going to lose my job, be disowned by my family, lose my children and go to jail. I understand what you are saying, unfortunately with my history the idea that I was a sexual deviant, or being accused of it made my head believe my life was over You couldn't possibly understand what I wen…

Just to say, I appreciate all your comments and feedback. I am a good father. My children's mother knows that and was by my side during the cps meetings. Yes, I enjoy experimenting with some substances, but it is never around my children. I have 50% custody. If I decide to try something it's when they aren't around And as far as the trt, I've been on it for over two years. I had 4 months of blood work continuously done to confirm hypogonadism. I use it to keep normal levels of testosterone. Than…

Hah! Man I never knew tinder was what it was. Without it even being on purpose in 2 months I hooked up with 4 different ladies. And I was talking to probably another 3 or 4 women. I mention that, because I feel like I got out the things I needed to get out in that respect and now I really would just like to be working on myself. That being said, you probably are right If I see the right lady in the right set up, I'm not sure I could hold myself back

I will say I'm a bit on the line with the animosity, but it isn't what's got me looking forward. I love my job. Truly happy with it after almost 10 years (42 years old, this was my midlife crisis adjustment). Thing is though I don't make enough money. So for years I've been trying to finish my nursing degree. Unfortunately I keep getting denied, or divorce, house sale due to divorce, being a single dad to 2 has been holding me up. No more making excuses. Got to make this happen

I did, yes. We were married 16 years so damn near every picture on all accounts had her in it. When I decided I wanted to try to start dating again I figured it wouldn't be a good look having pictures all over of my ex
/r/Divorce_Men08/02/24 05:29 PM

That's fair. I was also married for a pretty long time, 16 years, prior to this situation. I am done with the long term idea. It isn't even worth it

I mean I'm not ugly ... it's hard to find people to date where I live though. Everyone is either already married, or strong independent women that don't care one way or the other about having a man. If you got any tips on how to pull some young ladies I'm all ears haha
/r/Divorce_Men02/02/24 03:58 PM
2

No the opposite. I did ask her often about marriage and moving in together. She wasn't in to any of it ... that's actually a specific cause of her breaking up. She knew I wanted something she wasn't interested in

I feel you there bro. I have severe abandonment issues and this just added to that Lost my dad to suicide when I was 19, wife of 16 years drops me, now the first person I let into my life bounces Everyone always gets rid of me Sorry that does sound like I'm feeling sorry for myself, that isn't the case I was just kind of saying I understand you. This all sucks, but better times are ahead I'm sure of that

She didn't have an ex her husband died of cancer... but that doesn't really matter. I have been going to the gym, a lot. It's the one thing that does make me feel good about myself. Well that and my kids. I'm trying to move on .. I guess that's why I made this post. Honestly ever person that's posted all has great advice, including yours. I appreciate the feedback pal.

Yea you are spot on, I got too attached. There was reason that I moved as quick as I did. She flew me out to meet her family, introduced me to her daughters that are in college and I spent a lot of time with all of them... but I did kind of take that to think we were going to last and so I did let myself get very attached. My kids are pretty mature for their age so I have had the talk with them already that I am not trying to bring ladies in and out of their lives. They know my 6 month rule, may…

Definitely not bringing anyone around my kids. My rule for that was 6 months of dating minimum before I even tell my kids I'm seeing someone. I will attempt to just date at this point and see how I do with that. I'm definitely done for the time being, looking for a long term commitment. Always just bites me on the ass

You are right. I'm not even in the mood to try to argue it, you are absolutely right. I became dependent and it just sank everything. I've been trying to work on me ever since my actual divorce, but I got caught up in this last relationship and let myself go. I'm trying to get my shit together.

Honestly I just had to know if I could get laid. Answer is yes. But it honestly felt like nothing. Taking some time off... the fwb turned into a clinger pretty quick and seemed to want to try to turn things into something I want nothing to do with right now.

I appreciate what you're saying. I can't kick the thought that I do want to be married again though. Or a life partner at least. I dunno, Def already had a week with a friend with benefits thinking it would help get my mind off this lady. It was great in the time but I'm still so messed up from the break up. You're right though. I need to not let myself get emotionally involved, until I know for certain we're on the same page Going to take some time to work on myself I'll get through this. My ki…

She gave some more specific reasons.. I had told her when we very first met, I was looking for a long term, marriage or common law type situation. She said she kept telling herself that maybe it could work but ultimately she realized she doesn't and will not be in love with me. That she wants to fall in love again. I kept arguing it. Told her she's been in love once, with a guy she started dating at 15, has 2 kids with by 20 and passed off cancer 5 years ago, that's a type of love you just aren'…

Ditto to you brother. My kids are slightly older, 12 and 10, but I'm definitely the fun parent. OP it is all tears when they leave, but it's so much more sweet when they're back home with you. Cherish those times, when they're away plan nothing but fun when you're with them

I tried dating for a few months after my divorce last July. Found a few great ladies. Had some fun, but ultimately was not interested in anything long term. At this point I'm putting dating on hold entirely, I have two kids and 50/50 shared custody. I'm focusing on me, trying to finish my degree finally, and spending the time I have with my kids doing as many fun things as we can. I was married 16 years, didn't really date much before my first marriage.. but I'm honestly kind of done with ladies…

This so much... not even a year after divorce my ex is moving into a house with her new man, that my kids will have to live with half the time. She completely went against everything she said, she wanted the divorce because she had never been independent and wanted to live her own life blah blah. Meanwhile I've been a mess, trying to sell my house and cut any ties besides our kids with her. Ridiculous

While I don't have my mortgage through a VA loan, I am otherwise in a situation similar to you. I believe you had asked about buying out the ex.. with me I just had an appraisal done on my home and then split the amount of equity to determine what I would need to come up with to buy the ex out. I've decided recently to just go ahead and sell my home instead of trying to come up with that big chunk of money, but the equity split still stays the same. It'll just be based off how much I get for my …

Man my exact situation, we have 2 kids together lived with each other 16 years married 14. I divorced last year and my now ex convinced me to keep the house, still in both our names because neither of us wanted to mess with my kids even more than what's done. She had gone back to school to finish her masters, so I wrote up some documents the court approved about how ill pay the entire mortgage for the year she needed to finish school, if at the end of that she would cover half the mortgage for two years so I could finish my school. Well we're approaching her graduation and she seems t…

Man what you're saying I actuality truly do believe... I guess in the actual moment it's just hard. She used to talk shit on herself all the time that she was never able to be by behalf, and if it weren't for me marrying her she wouldn't have kids and would be on her own. I give her the strength to have a self esteem among a million other things, but this is where I am. It just sucks
