Spent 3 years in a PhD program. Decided to pursue career and currently making 97k+. Bought a 2,200 sq ft house last year on my own and currently have a blue-collar boyfriend whom I adore. Low social status, my ass!

I love this so much! The patriarchy and men’s opinions have been shoved down our throats since the beginning of time. So true!

Ew ew ew nothing dries me up faster than when a guy mentions “cuddling” aka code word for unattached, impersonal, shallow, no effort, quick sex.

Also get the sense that he's filling up his time, maybe doesn't like to be alone and is flakey and impulsive too. I bet some women have put up with this behavior.

These items fall nicely within narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) as well. I encourage you to do your own research on NPD. The tactics above are abusive.

I don’t ask but it usually comes out in conversation. It’s really unattractive if they have a roommate. I’d rather they drive a beater and/or live solo in a crappy but clean apartment than have to have a roommate.

Same! For your own mental health, suggest counseling and most definitely blocking him so that you can actually, really, move on and forward with your life.

I like the idea of meeting his parents before sex. I just don’t want them to meet mine unless we’re engaged. That’s personal preference. I like to act like my friends and family have no clue about the guy, like I don’t talk about that stuff with them. Guys are usually like well I talk about you or I’ve talked about you to my friend/family. Usually I jokingly respond no way and laugh. And he’s volunteered a screenshot of a convo between friend/family. There’s a lot of things that we need to feel …

I’ve never had a guy agree with me and then say let’s see other people afterward. I have had guys say, well I want to test drive and I’m like bye. Fds and The Rules say to have sex after he has said I love you. I’m not saying do it right then and there but make it known this is what it is when the subject of sex comes up. I’ve had guy say well You’re my girlfriend then. I’m like we will see.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy31/05/20 05:56 PM

Have the convo before sex. Lay it down with “I don’t have sex outside of a committee relationship”. If he’s like oh wow, that’s aggressive. Say “next”! If he’s like, same, me too. Say “glad we’re on the same page”.

Get their teeth fixed/straightened/whitened, watch their weight, wear good fitting clothes and wear a nice cologne. :) I personally don’t care about baldness, their car or if they’re 6’1 or higher. Those are things that can’t be helped. I only date guys who are well groomed and take care of themselves.

Agreed! My last ex had the excuse of "well, if we text every day, we won't have anything to talk about in person". Please. We don't have to have long drawn out convos, but a simple, "hey, hope your day goes well" is how simple it is.

Nope. Never argue or call names. A queen calmly states her wants and needs and lets it be. If he doesn't meet them or can't communicate in an adult manner- bye!

36 here and yes, never loved my body and looks more. I know how to eat and have proper nutrition, I can afford to dress how I want, get nice makeup, heels and go places. I feel like I think about it alot and when I'm in a relationship, I prefer it daily. In my 20s, I was overweight, couldn't afford the nice clothes and was physically /sexually insecure.

I’ve seen studies that have also applied this to the workforce. Men apply and get jobs that they’re under qualified for (but believe they are). They also fight for pay increases that may not be deserved. While women undervalue themselves, apply to jobs they meet most expectations for. They will fight for raises but not aim as high as they should/could. Men aim too high. Women aim too low. If men lowered their unrealistic expectations, they’d probably be rejected by women less. If women aimed hig…

Yep- they’re adding to their spank bank. If they ask for social media before we’ve met, I block/ignore them and talk to others. It’s gross. We’re not naive, we know what you’re doing. My besties, coworkers, and family are on my social, no you. You’re nothing and you haven’t yet earned any place in my life.

Why would you want to settle down at such a young age? Your goal should be to pursue your education/training to be independent. Then you could focus on finding a good mutual fit, compatibility and kindness.

I'm a pretty healthy person (had a great upbringing meaning that good, ethical, body positive/female forward behavior was modeled for me by both parents) and I thought I had dated guys who were misunderstood. Nah, I've been abusers, not the physical kind but the emotional, mental and narcissist kind. So I'm about to start it and as I flipped through it, I'm recognizing patterns of behaviors that i have noticed but thought...oh it's x, or y, or z. Nope. It's abusive and narcissist.

How can you make room for someone new if you're letting him take up any space? I learned in therapy a long time ago, that if something/someone isn't healthy, good or adding value to your life, than let it go. He's an ex for a reason. Get through that ego by focusing on yourself, your desires, your goals. Your world is bigger and better. You are his ego boost and that's it. Men get off on attention. You've giving it to him. I've seen so many women waste years of their lives playing/keeping contac…

ew, no. He's a user and if you don't block, you will continue a very unhealthy pattern- plus not sure your future boyfriend will like this...

This relationships sounds too casual for that expectation, unfortunately. He's a long distance boyfriend, at best. Now, if you were in a committed serious relationship where you lived together, he had bonded with your child and taken on a parenting roll, yes, he should/would take your older child out to pick out a gift to give to you for Mother's Day.

Sure. My mom is like a sweet Pitbull, you never want to cross her. :) Mom was never 100% invested in Dad (more like 95%) and it just made him want her more and work harder for her (whatever it was that she wanted). He definitely loved her more than she loved him. She didn't treat him like the "king of the castle" or anything like that. She treated him like a partner. I do remember her vocally boosting him up/complimenting him when he did stuff around the house or had a good idea. She always pull…

Well, my grandparents were married in the 40s and a dad is from a strict farm family. There was work and school. It might be a generational thing. However, dad has told me that the best times, the highlight of his life, was being our dad, especially when we were kids. He said we were funny and always into something, mischievous, playing with animals. etc. Some people love parenthood. I think those that love parenthood are because it was modeled for them.

Thank you for putting this info. I’m a woman with 2 sisters and a circle of female friends and we don’t douche, we do use gentle soap on the outside parts and the rectal area.

Hobbies make us interesting even if they’re weird. What differentiates you from others? What brings you happiness? What are you into? I just can’t imagine a life without hobbies or endeavors, even if it’s a subject you’re reading about.

This. How much of the whole insecure attachment style in a woman is a natural reaction to someone who is a bread crumbing sociopath and unhealthy.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy27/04/20 01:42 AM
35

Nope. I ended a first date because the guy checked out a woman that walked by. If you can’t give me your attention for an hour, then I’m out. There are plenty of men who will give me their full attention. I mean, how hard is it to wait until I go to the bathroom or something. It’s completely rude.

Ugh eff that. Mine, a committed relationship, went 3 1/2 days without texting me and couldn’t make time to see me more than once a week on the weekends, and we had been dating for 6 months!

I just posted about this earlier -are they lvm until proven otherwise? How long does the vetting last? You really don’t know someone at 3 or 6 months. I’ve seen some posts on here that say vetting lasts for a year.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy18/04/20 07:49 PM
11

I’ve seen some say the vetting process should last from 3 months to 6 Months and even longer? How long does the vetting process last until you find out if he’s lvm or hvm. I get that you never really know someone. Edit* Should we just assume they’re all lvm until they prove otherwise. I feel like I meet men, sleep with them a few months In and while they are eager to commit and or tell me that they love me, they end up being emo unavailable, narcissists etc In 2-6 months.

Just seems like men will run or avoid any responsibility- kids, child support payments, jobs, responsibility, commitment. I’ve dated guys that refused to have plants or animals because they couldn’t commit taking care of them. So unattractive.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy02/04/20 01:34 AM

Hadn’t thought of that. I just thought I was being upfront with setting expectations early. I’m not so easily impressed. I won’t meet a quarter of the men that I talk to on these apps.

I’m confused. I thought fds would say to weed them Out this way. How would this question be handled by both parties via fds perspective? Why would I want to meet up or continue talking to a guy who is only looking for hookups? 🤷🏼‍♀️

How am I being defensive?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy31/03/20 02:56 AM

/r/FemaleDatingStrategy31/03/20 02:10 AM

I don’t tell them anything first. But I see what you’re saying. I feel like I weed out the guys who aren’t looking for anything serious but discussing this early on. I have about 8 guys who say they aren’t vs. the 1 guy who says they are. Time will tell.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy31/03/20 01:52 AM

Not saying he’s Prince Charming or any thing. Guys lie. Time reveals all.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy31/03/20 01:50 AM

They do but I thought it was fds to ask them first to see what they say?

They love doing that.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy28/03/20 06:52 PM

Some trauma can’t be left behind because it will resurface later and in other ways. Positive thoughts your way. I would text her, she gave you permission to. There’s no better time than the now to start leveling up. Think of where you could be emotionally in 3 months? 6 months? Etc?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy28/03/20 11:28 AM
9

No. Men like attention from women whether they’re attracted to them or not.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy28/03/20 12:23 AM
5

Same and we dated for 6 months but he changed at 3 months. I’m upping my vetting game and it’s hard but I’m putting off sex. You really need to spend lots of time with someone 2-3 months before commitment and sex. Again, see multiple men so you don’t get attached. I turned down 3 dates that I had lined up when I met this guy. I’m just grateful I didn’t waste more than 6 months.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy27/03/20 12:13 PM
7

You should continue seeing your school counselor and you should mention this to them. You have suffered trauma and in order to move forward to be healthy, you’ve got to address this. Your future self and life will thank you. You got this!
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy27/03/20 12:09 PM

I wouldn’t break up with someone who lost their job but I would not let them “move” in. He can start working on a home life with you when he’s stable.

Agreed with therapy- that’s what it’s for- these temporary rough patches. Your ex wasn’t the man for you, he couldn’t be the man that he needed to be. Just know that mourning your relationship and the ex as a person are normal. Do things that make you happy, every day. Read self help books. Stay busy. Get through school and spend time with friends.

First boyfriend told me I had too much skin, I was 16 in high school and I weighed about what I do now. I used to be a hairstylist, plus I love in Texas, so I like big hair. I regularly back comb my hair, 60’s Style because it lasts for days and it’s voluminous. Current boyfriend says he prefers my hair curly, natural and less “frizzy”. I told him I liked it and this was me. Idk why men feel like they have the right to comment on women’s appearance but I have to admit- I did tell him to trim his…

Truly is. I’ve been on the fence with breaking up with him for atleast a month. Like all you have to do is be kind, be open, and make a freakin effort. Effort! Ugh.

Boyfriend of 6 months hasn’t been as attentive and kind as he usually is. I cancelled our mid week dates and started working harder at work and delving deeper into my hobbies. He’s all of a sudden texting me more, calling me asking how my doctor appointment was and sending me photos. I hate men. This is a new relationship. Haven’t decided if It’s worth it or not.

I don’t like condoms and I like the way skin on skin sex feels. My current boyfriend and I both got std screens, -my idea, and I got an iud so that I can have the kind of sex that I want.

Yas! This is what I was thinking. Imagine that her future Could be with this immature LVM who “isn’t ready” Or “doesn’t know what he wants.” He was keeping her as a placeholder. eff that! Life is too short! Move on to the next men, hopefully the batch holds atleast 1 HVM.

Second what they are saying. He’s basically saying “I may not be super successful but my family is and that, by proxy, also makes me successful”. Pathetic. Just be honest and upfront. Your family member’s accomplishments are not your own, scrotastic.

I don’t understand why this guy feels entitled to contact you about it. Like, okay, this sub strikes a nerve with you, fine. But no need to lash out at us for it. I don’t know about y’all but I have never reached out to anyone who has the opposite of my political beliefs (in America) to defend, insult, bully etc them. It’s pathetic.

Men can’t be alone. Being single is uncomfortable for them but promise you, the same issues you experienced, their new partner/gf/spouse will also experience. Her problem now. A leopard can’t change its spots unless they go through extensive counseling (but men rarely do this).

Not about you being better than her, he’s a lying narcissist loser child who took advantage of you, and her. Men will take what they can get where they can get it.

I would tell your management that if he comes back again, you’d like to call the police and/or they need to escort him out. I hate that he felt like he could harass you at work for a stupid petty lame ass hoodie and a hot dog. That’s sooo petty. How old is he, 13?

Yeah, I’m leaning more and more towards this. Moved in with my last ex at 9-10 months. Turns out he didn’t renew the lease, had debt and decided he was moving to another town within 3 weeks of my moving in. Finding an apartment in Dallas is hard, most have 1-4 Month waitlist. He left me high and dry, broke up with me via text message and then blocked me. I was stunned. Called my family and friends, they packed me up the next day, put my stuff in storage and got an apartment in 3 weeks! I just do…

Well, I spent the weekend with family so I think he was being considerate. I didn’t ask him a question, I sent him pics or my replica work and nothing... Until 24 hours later which I am sooo proud of myself for not texting. I still didn’t respond and then later on yesterday evening he asked if I was alive and if I made it home safely. I waited a few hours and sent a short response. Funny. Woke up to a text from him today. He takes me out, cooks/serves me meals, flew in to spend thanksgiving with…

I can see that. And I stopped at initiating, he didn’t make plans with me to see me for Xmas either. He’s having dinner with his family and working (yes, working during the holiday, he’s next to top in the company and everyone took a vacation so he’s expected to take their workload). It annoys me that he’s not making more of an effort to see me. We will see.

What is wrong with them? Ugh. We’re y’all committed and exclusive? I wouldn’t play with that either. Put time into you and then not land you for NY? I honestly think my bf just assumes that we will end up seeing one another but there needs to be effort. Effort!
