But he at least owes her the information in a timely manner, if only because he is the captain and needs to communicate the family direction. Just like if you said you'd pick up the kids from school, and you can't, you owe her that information ASAP, not 10 min after dismissal.

I guess. It depends on the timing of his deterioration (did marriage flip a switch?). I thought he only got fat in ten months. Well, best of luck to that relationship anyway....

I guess you can't know unless you go through adversity with a person - and see how they fare when their job sucks and yours does and you have no money and a sick relative to care for. Don't set it up, but you can see a person show their true colors under such pressure. I'd also say that someone who can constructively voice their opinions, be supportive, not gainsay your or embarrass you in public, is a good first set of diagnostics.

No. Not good. Not a nice girl. Even if you are a future fat sex-denying harpy with only average ethical standards, you should 1) feel embarrassed enough at your husband's failures that you don't talk about it at work, and 2) make a good-faith effort to scold him into improvement before giving up and handing out your phone number. You complain to girlfriends, not to men, and not at work. Even under the paradigm of husband-as-child (not recommended, but common), you the parent are the one responsi…

I think how a girl blends into a male group depends a lot on some intrinsic charisma - maybe it's unaffectedness, or confidence, or openness, or who knows what, but it's hard to put a finger on. Nonetheless, I've seen this type of girl: every guy inner group respects her judgment, behaves himself in her presence, has only positive things to say about her, and will defend her to detractors. I other words, she is welcomed with open arms. Another type of girl can try but will never manage it. Maybe…

From my personal experience, I'd get annoyed at innuendo if it was particularly crass and came across like a plea/demand for sex RIGHT NOW, without putting in any effort to seduce or be romantic, especially if I'm in the middle of doing something like laundry, dishes, cooking, etc. Also, maybe -depending on how prissy or prim the paritcular flower of femininity is - she might judge the innuendo for lack of subtlety or cleverness, purely on aesthetic grounds? Though I feel like this alone could g…

So I could well be in your girlfriend's shoes: I like to talk and have probably annoyed many a gentleman caller with it. I asked my husband about it, and he told me two things: 1) he tunes me out when I run on too much, and 2) If he didn't already like me for other reasons, the prattle would be a deal-breaker, in spite of an otherwise impressive "resume". Maybe you just viscerally don't like this girl, even though she looks good on paper?

I don't think ex being an ex per se is enough to elicit consistent jealousy and stress to the extent described in OP. If ex was a complete washout and slob, I don't think SO would care as much. He might think less of OP for dating said slob, but ex wouldn't be a credible rival. So in the case that OP is behaving appropriately, shutting down advances, etc., we ask what is it that's stressing SO. Is SO less somehow out of his element in these "work/social" settings? Does ex put forth some kind of …

Hmm, I wonder what about your ex makes your SO uneasy. It's not just about ex being flirty - if a creepy old guy on the bus was flirty with you, SO might be protective, but not jealous. So whence the insecurity? E.g., ex dresses flashier, SO thinks ex is smarter, SO has a weird hangup about a mole on his arm .... You might need to assuage that specific insecurity, by reassuring him, or making your shut-downs of ex more obvious, or even sharing a few dirty details ("his mom did his laundry") - th…

From experience, I find that, if not getting my way sucks, it sucks WAY more to have just enough evidence to support my illusion that he is OK with what I want (if not ecstatic), only to find out otherwise at the last moment. I will feel shitty either way for a space of time, but sensible people get over that. Ans that's without any consideration of what is right, honorable and logical in your specific situation.

This kind of turns the question on its head, and -not sarcastically - have any of you wanted to provide your ex feedback? At least on those last moments before you hit the eject button (not revisiting the relationship years later, obviously)? I am thinking of one instance in which I took the easy (cowardly) way out initiating the breakup - "distance is hard, not working out, different paths, blah blah", and then I regretted it and felt I should have been honest and said what bothered me.
/r/RedPillWives10/08/16 10:23 PM

I wouldn't do it. It only puts you in a weak position and costs you any dignity you might have salvaged in the breakup. Maybe in a few decades, if you, your spouse, he and his spouse are all good friends having a few drinks on the porch while your teenage kids make out in the basement thinking you don't know. :p

I think education gets such a bad rap because people think it can replace qualities that historically correlated with education, but are not a consequence of it. For example: open-mindedness, wisdom, thoughtfulness, good manners. It's the difference between being educated and "well-bred".

PS I also think your point about respect is particularly good. At a recent wedding I went to, the priest emphasized this a lot - how respect must come before love. It wasn't my wedding or my church, but I think I took the message more to heart than the newlyweds.... Respect above all.

It's interesting you use the word "commodity". It is often used to describe goods where one unit is interchangeable with another, and so competition is only on price (e.g., crops, oil). Interpreted that way, sex is the commodity - and a cheap one at that. To carry the market analogy: traits like thoughtfulness, sensuality, kindness, solicitousness, breadth of mind, poise, etc., are rather a woman's differentiators and competitive advantages in the sexual marketplace. The feminine qualities eleva…

I don't think you read very carefully. The rebuttal quotes the study authors as saying that the actual number of victims pressed into sexual slavery probably numbers in the hundreds - that's orders of magnitude less than 100,000. The last sentence of #2 also acknowledges the seriousness of the issue.

The internet chatter around the Internet bounces between her being an abuse victim or a doper. I HATE that - when people see a good thing and try to tear it down any way they can. Say "awesome swimmer, awesome relationship" and be on your merry way. But I suppose that that is what I get for reading comments to news articles. (Thankfully the originally posted article doesn't have a comments section.) (Edit typo)

That's a hard one. I'd expect most people can get "very good" at most things (including sports, music, math), given enough time and effort. But nothing's free, so you have to do the cost-benefit analysis. Maybe the best way to define personality specifically, would be to see what outlooks, thinking patterns, and approaches do you default to when my guard is down and you're not trying? There are clearly innate differences, and different roles in society (e.g., lab scientist vs. doctor) are better…

RPW or something similar can benefit a girl if she spends a lot of time in a feminist echo chamber (say, her friends from college): imagine finding a community of women who are anti-feminist, but also confident and (gasp) literate!

For all my and others' dire words, all might not be so bad. How often have you met his family? If you use the next few visits to cultivate a more cordial relationship, heck, it might work out, especially if you take everyone's sage advice and take steps to minimize unwanted friction. Also, a thing often forgotten is, we do not act in a vacuum. Your boy is presumably intelligent and observant and sensible. If he's high-quality, he'll periodically be okay when you are less engaged in family stuff,…

But taken to extremes it can turn into them not being able to fo anything apart for any extended period of time, though they may need to (eg business trip, mandatory event they can't both afford to go to, bachelor/ette party weekend). Waltz is hard. Swing is hard. Start with 4/4 count dances! Folk-type dancing is less formal, is all in multiples of 4, and they give instructions. There's also contra-dancing (a la Pride and Prejudice).

[Note : the following assumes your husband is not an evil asshole or serious abuser.] Edit: grammar and spelling. I think one of the biggest favors a woman can do herself in Western society today is to stop seeing her interactions with the world like a power struggle. Obviously, there are some exceptions (e.g., if your boss is blackmailing you for sexual favors), but that lens should not be the default. It is just a rhetorical strategy that pressure groups use to poison what are otherwise honest…

I think /u/BellaScarletta nailed it in her response. I'd also like to emphasize two pitfalls for this relationship. 1) As someone coming from your SO's perspective (I'm the one with the bigger and closer-knit family in my relationship), I'd expect the "SO vs. family" dynamic to continue, playing a bit of that tug-of-war for the rest of your life if you marry him. I think that OP's response was top-notch, and that is how I prefer to be leveled with when feeling resentful. And I think any reasonable wife would too. On the "you should have spoken up if you wanted to leave" point though (and I don't think this is OP's situation, but still worth pointing out): if in the past the guy had a habit of responding to her "speaking up" with negative reinforcement -acting annoyed, lashing out, etc. - it may take more encoencouragement on his part before she trusts hi…

With this type of demagoguery, one must ignore the details and go straight for the agenda. It's completely cynical and disingenuous, so there's not even point in arguing against it. (Although you can come up with plenty.) But suppose it's true that, to some extent, men think beating women is OK because Society. Suppose some subset of men even explicitly beat their wives "because it is their male prerogative". So what? Why frame it in terms of class struggle? The goal, of course, is to subvert th…

Congrats on your progress! I noticed for myself that a week doesn't seem like much, but it is hard to maintain a resolve or a routine even over that time period. 1) Less time on time-sucking activities like TV and internet. This damages my relationship in that I fall behind, feel guilty when reminded, and tens to lash out a bit. 2) Get more sleep. Otherwise I need to stay at work work later if I wake up later, less time at home for time-sucking activities, I stay up later..... Vicious cycle.

Edit: finished writing. First, ascertain whether he realizes a problem exists. Passive aggression is wasted on guys, in my experience at least. If all you need to do is nicely ask him to be more present, and he will oblige no problem, your problem is solved. Even if you need to ask a dozen times before it happens naturally. Well if his periods of inattention occur once a month or less, for a week or less, put up with it like he puts up with your PMS. The thing you want is his attention. (I can sympathize, being an attention hog myself at times.) Because of this, a lot of the advice - getting new friends or hobbies - are really just distractions. Since you have only been at this a week and haven't established expectations, I'd say you settle into a level of "feminine" and "neat" that you can realistically maintain, and maintain that. I think you should keep "faking" it on not being nagging or negative, but have flexibility in how "cheerful", feminine, and "neat" you can be, I think you should keep working through "nagging" front the hardest because negativity is not attractive and - even if it's an innate part of your personality - any a…

Oooh I'd disagree. Raiding the "house fund" - if that's what they agreed it was - is not sound financial management, and being without insurance is also risky. If Danny posted that in the men's subreddit, he'd catch flak for that. Edited for grammar I don't disagree that doing it even when you "don't feel like it" but feel guilty is not rape, and insults real rape victims. But from a historical perspective, I do think it's naïve to think men didn't get denied by their wives and didn't sleep around as a result, especially in aristocratic circles where marriages were arranged, and without contraception. The hard part about the above is, if you as a woman are in a relationship you hate, with a man you feel contempt for, it is you who compromised your values for mean short-term comfort, and your unhappiness is to a large degree your fault, not just your man's - and you must have the courage and fortitude to either help him to become better or leave him. I wonder if that is part of why hard-core political feminists don't like Ayn Rand - even though her views on it were pretty empowering to women.

If you have no experience and have never had a boyfriend, how do you know what your fetishes are? Do you have a lot of casual sex? Because liking a type of pornography doesn't mean you will like it in real life.... Yes!! And from this admiration comes "the pride a woman is supposed to experience at being granted the title of wife" (this one's from Atlas Shrugged). It is so poignant and uplifting - what it means, or should mean, to be someone's wife: the double pride of earning the reward and granting it simultaneously. And it is legitimately hard to keep that exalted feeling alive and in your thoughts even as age, the drudgery of daily life, the degeneracy of the outside world, and your own missteps threat…

Hmm, I'd posit that the core issue in your relationship is that, fundamentally, you do not trust him.Why not? Are you being irrational? Or is he giving off subtle warning signals that he doesn't want to be with you long-term? Let's look at the Facebook incident as an example. You feel resentful because you made a sacrifice and he didn't acknowledge it properly. (Covert contract!) But did you actually need to make that sacrifice? This post really resonated with me and my feelings toward RP material. I generally stick to MRP and he women's subs now. This is so true! But I think a lot of the time what we women say is not so much said as hinted at, subtly. And then we're upset when the hints fall on deaf ears. But on rare occasions, the wise among us say point-blank what we like, many times. "I like THIS sexual position; please take me to a sushi restaurant on my birthday." On a more serious note, I don't think the men advocating this truly thought it out. In today's feminized society, there is a lot to tempt a man: easy sex, no requirements of chivalry, no need to be the sole provider, no angry father or brother for 'dishonoring' a girl. With the return of "high-octane patriarchy", these responsibilities are likely to come back full-force, and I don't think these men are prepared to handle them. Women have spent centuries refining the art of subtle manipulation, using a man's desire and children against him. Heck, even in ancient Greece we have plays like "Lysistrata"! So what does Roosh propose we do to mitigate the effects of female manipulation on weak males? What remedies will society have against a man who effectively rubber-stamps the decisions of the females under his guardianship, r…

They didn't even get the term right - it's 'heteronormativity', and means a belief in the existence of natural and distinct male/female gender roles, and that heterosexual relationships are the standard for normal relationships. Positively heterodox!! And that's just one example of ridiculous humanities academic jargon seeping into the mainstream.

Hmm, the difference in communication styles is one good theory - especially because it leads to misunderstandings! You think he said he would do it, and he was just nodding without listening. He thought you meant "come see a show with me", and you meant "come, dress nice, and take me to dinner after". And the like. Another theory related to communication is if you don't 100% trust each other - ("Is he ignoring me on purpose? Is him forgetting to do X a sign of disrespect?" Etc.) But you get over…

My red flag is that you seem to have no personal time apart from him! I'm reading a book (recommended in this and related subreddits) called "Mating in Captivity" by Esther Perel, and it's about just that - closeness kills eroticism! "Let's see other people" sounds like she's being demoted to plate... They might have some more fun together (depending on how healthy their relationship is) - but I doubt there's long-term potential. I don't think that's a general attitude on this particular subreddit. People here value capable, intelligent, and accomplished women. What I think most of the people here would agree on, however, is that a woman who is very competitive and ambitious in her career aspirations is more likely to suffer from 1) unwillingness to compromise said career to properly care for her children, and 2) desire to postpone marriage and kids until she is 'ready' - which might not happen until she is past 30, whic…

So this advice is based on my own experience with my MIL, my eminently wise mom's advice and example, and observations of other families where the women play man-tug-of-war. The exception would be if the mistake is a Big Deal, and it's not a joke anymore. Hmm, I'd think the reason women stop dressing up when they enter a relationship is not to protect modesty, but because they've already secured their man and don't think they need to put in the effort. Anyway, random disjointed thoughts. TLDR Most virtues which apply to men apply to women. Few differences exist based on sex alone. Being virtuous isn't the best strategy for happiness and doesn't make sense today. On the contrary. Today is the most important time to be virtuous - when the restrictions on behavior are as lax as they have ever been (in the West at least), we can only be virtuous by choice, not because others police us. That said, virtuous does not necessarily mean law-abiding. A l…

My own favorites from literature: "If", by Rudyard Kipling (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/If%E2%80%94) is one of my favorite poems and a great statement of morality that I try to live by, if not always successfully. For female characters, I like Dagny Taggart in Atlas Shrugged, Elizabeth Bennett and Jane Eyre (and I used to think they were opposites too!), Margarita from Mikhail Bulgakov's "The Master and Margarita". I'd have to agree with this post, even though some of the corollaries ("you will not get a relationship unless you sleep with him") may not sit quite so well. I'll also add that the manner in which a man expresses his sexual desire and wears his "horny glasses" is one of the criteria on which we judge him. Men's loyalty and women's affection both have to be earned - and to the extent that either one is failing to earn the value he or she seeks, the value must not be granted.

Eh, "luckily", many people divorce (get it?) their theoretical and political beliefs from their actions. I have little tolerance for social justice warrior types, but I find among my friends that even women with professed "feminist" or "gender-studies" views use their feminine wiles, take care to look attractive, and follow many a stereotypical path that their ardent feminist sisters would condemn. Hmm - the "maintaining illusions" one would probably be the most contentious. Isn't red pill about taking women off a pedestal developing an "abundance mentality"? That said, in my understanding men tend to come to red pill after they experience difficulties in their relationships (I'm not sure what the trend is for women here), so perhaps there is some selection bias. I'd have to respectfully disagree. Words are words, but they act as a screening tool. I can understand the reason behind spinning plates, but If I were in that position, I would probably find it very difficult to swallow. Unless you unconditionally and wildly worship the ground beneath the guy's feet, an "open relationship" of any kind either seems like an excuse for the girl to sleep around, or you come out feeling like you do from a one-night stand: a bit sullied, a bit used, and a bit hating yourself for letting it happen.
