A lot of us need to realize that men in power, the 1% of men, will always band together to conduct society in a way that benefits them at the expense of everyone else. War and conscription is beneficial to said men while harming every other person, male, female, nonbinary in society. The sooner these men are cut out of male advocacy the better.

There’s still work that needs to be done. In many states you can be forced to carry the baby of your rapist to term if you miss the abortion deadline, despite the abortion deadline being too early for women to find out by then. Sexual assault and harassment in the workplace is still an issue that needs to be mitigated. Learning boundaries is something everyone needs to understand. Especially when women leave their jobs as a result. Helping abused women leave households. Better maternity leave an…

I’m going to take a more nuanced approach here and say I can understand misandry in specific contexts, just like I can understand misogyny in specific contexts. I know of women who absolutely despised men after their abuse at the hands of men, because not only were they abused, but later on invalidated by men who would think of her as a “liar” or “an attention seeker” for raising her case about her abuse. Trauma is one hell of a drug. Hell, childhood abuse by mothers is a great predictor of miso…

Can you read? The article literally says that when he offered Ms.Serignese the drugged drink in the 1970s and was asked if she was in a position to consent, he said “I don’t know”. Throughout this article, it’s Cosby thinking he “knows women”. When 13+ women and later on 60 women all come out and say this man had done the unspeakable to them, I don’t think he “knows women”. This is not one woman. This is multiple. And his very cavalier attitude towards sex and seduction and treating women like f…

He had sex with those women when they were passed out. This isn’t a situation where both people were drunk and had sex. One party was clearly inebriated and unable to consent and the other was clearminded and able to consent. He specifically withheld this testimony because he was afraid of being incriminated with it. That’s why he needed the DA’s promise. 60 women do not all collectivey lie about a man and are all deluded or attention seeking.

He gave women drinks mixed with drugs and had sex with them when they passed out. His exact words were that he had sex with them in the “forbidden space between permission and rejection”. Please, for the love of god, there are so many more innocent, working class men that this subreddit can support other than a hollywood rapist with 60 WOMEN coming out against him with stories. This isn’t a he said she said a la blasey ford. This is he said, 60 other women said. I truly wish the mods of this sub…

I think the best way to ensure that right remains while also preventing situations from this like happening is to outright not allow agreements like what the DA offered Cosby. I get that they did so because the victim wanted her day in civil court, but under no circumstances should an accused individual be promised immunity from prosecution no matter what they say. Civil trials do not hold the same burden of proof and thus don’t require a foolproof case. I’m sure Cosby’s reputation (which was al…

Leaving this comment here I found on r/ news. Some of y’all need to curb your misinformation. NOT ME Lawyer here. I've skimmed the decision, and here's what happened. The main reason this case was overturned was because in 2005 the Montgomery County District Attorney effectively promised never to prosecute Cosby for raping Andrea Costand (through a public press release saying he was not going to prosecute Cosby), believing that there was no way he could get a conviction, and seeking to give her …

You have misunderstood me. I’m not saying women have it harder. I acknowledge that it is a lot easier for a woman to be acknowledged as a victim, but that even then it’s not enough as they are still likely to be disbelieved. While men face a significantly tougher time, it’s again like comparing two victims of a harsh attack but one victim has an slightly easier time because they may not have to go for one extra surgery. That doesn’t mean the attack wasn’t severe and life threatening just because…

I think she often paints female rape victims as having an easier time coming out and being believed and protected, as she lists in her “female privileges” list. Now we know that men have a significantly harder time being believed and not ridiculed, but it’s also important to realize that women don’t have it much better when it comes to being believed. It’s like comparing the situation of a third degree burn victim and a victim of a vicious knife attack. The burn victim may have it slightly worse…

And you know at the end of the day I can’t say I hate the feminist vision as much as I hate their methods and current actions. Making it so that gender has no practical hindrance on people’s lives and accomodating differences in an equal value society isn’t a bad goal, it’s just that they are so inconsistent in their application.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates19/06/21 01:43 PM

Absolutely. But it’s also important to understand that a group can have that attitude while also repping an important issue. Some people combat that attitude by invalidating the valid issue and I know Ms.Straughn has implicated herself in such arguments

Does it really? Domestic violence against women is on the rise. Women’s voices still are not taken as seriously in the workplace as their male counterparts. Rape is still widely unreported and under prosecuted. Abuse in the sex industry is vast and nothing has been done about it, only excerbated by the rise of onlyfans etc. You can’t switch from leader to follower with great ease in any society. Maybe you think it works because the women you’ve encountered have made it work. But something I’ve l…

It’s a topic for another discussion, but she’s expressed views about male/female sexuality that I do not agree with, espouses conservative rhetoric as opposed to a more progressive outlook, and undermines valid issues women have in society today. Her activism is appreciated but her invalidation of the activism of other groups (who seek no harm on to men) is repulsive.

See but you’re saying “feminists can be whatever” as if there isn’t a lot of diversity in feminist thought. The idea that feminism is a sexual strategy for women is laughable at best and downright conspiratorial at worst. I’m not saying feminism has not had its dark history, but a movement with its literature and social influence isn’t some sort of conspiracy. Obviously due to its size feminism has a great deal of variation. I discuss in my post the great influx of women into feminism who want a…

Now hold on - are we talking patrirachy as described by the radical feminists or patriarchy as described by the dictionary? Because if we’re talking patriarchy as was defined in Merriam Webster than yeah upper class men have been in charge of most societies throughout history. The radical feminist definition is highly contestable, however.

Because at the end of the day I don’t agree with a majority of her takes. Also, this take isn’t exclusive to the red pill. Many feminist women have felt the same way about this “soft patriarchy” that most women want. Some parts of this post are informed by said women. I do not want a soft patriarchy, I want liberation and equality. Rollo Tomassi and the rest of his maroon pill twinks want to game the system and ride the decline. That’s your prerogative, but I want nothing to do with them.

I don’t like the red pill at all, but I call out bad behavior when I see it. I explicitly say at the end of my post that this pursuit of men leading in terms of finances - whether women admit to it as leading or not - will never bode well for them. They need to stick through gender equality and liberation even if it’s hard. But the fact of the matter is I’m seeing way too many women in this day and age looking for a “soft patriarchy”. Not sound at all.

It’s not even like the cover is getting the same type of radio play or coverage that the original has. How is a tiktok cover that will fade into obscurity in a few weeks as all tiktok trends do encroaching upon a song with substantial radio play and an upcoming tour from its artist? Then again, social media magnifies meaningless things into problems.

There definitely is a reinforcement of this. Even in fandoms of female singers/songwriters/rappers straight men are questioned by the fan members themselves if they are “actually” straight for liking xyz. I think that culture of gatekeeping certain female acts into a primarily “girls and gays only” thing makes straight men feel disrespected in their sexuality. It’s honestly kinda gross how our culture asks straight men to survive those questions on their straightness by saying “if you were reall…

Honestly when I think about it….if I reversed radfem language and the ideas behind them, they start to sound VERY conspiratorial and incel-ish. It’s what makes me wary of them time after time. Regarding your original point, can it be said however that as a woman ages and that innate reproductive value diminishes to zero, that men no longer care for her or extend an empathetic hand? We hear all the time how the redpill states that a woman’s value diminishes with age. I mean men at least have econ…

I guess you could say, in order to defend the claim, that some men - specifically those in hyper consumerist, transactional, and toxic dating groups - only see women’s value in their sexual attraction, that being their weight, age, etc. The whole redpill spiel about sexual marketplace value. Now that would only prove that men only value women for sex in the dating market, not in general. A lot of feminist assumptions state that those ideas about sexual market value and valuing women’s dating mer…

We know that her experience as a woman makes it near impossible for her to make such a gutsy statement about male culture being homoerotic, but can we ask ourselves why she may have thought this way? Maybe she is misinterpreting a greater point about male competition and culture due to her female POV. Can we get to the bottom of that? I just think her judgements, given her acknowledgement of male issues in her literary work, have to be from somplace other than deepseated misandry.

So a few things: 1) Predatory women are a lot more common than the media would like us to think simply because rape and incest definitions tend to be constructed in such a way that make it very, very hard for a woman to be a rapist/child abuser. 2) There isn’t much statistics on false accusations because rape as is has a very low conviction rate. Most alleged victims never get their day in court. FBI stats say 2-10% of all allegations are false, but bear in mind that this could be a minimum give…

Well the first thing about this is that you are equating patriarchy theory to the conspiracy theory that killed the Jews. This is an incredible false comparison, and lowkey offensive to the Jewish population, as men, as a class, have and probably will never suffer through what they went through during the Holocaust. The fact of the matter is that feminists do not use the patriarchy theory in the way that hate groups use their conspiracy theories. Now, factions of feminists do so. For example rad…

Sex differences in terms of anatomy and biology is fine. But sex differences in terms of personality and behavior? I don’t know how you could teach it without it being indoctrination and cultural conditioning. Even then we don’t have the full biological story so it would be very ill informed. Keep it to anatomy and hormonal biology.

Okay I’m all for critique of patriarchy theory but this is straight infantilization. Patriarchy theory is more than just a conspiracy theory. It may have serious holes but treating feminism like it’s only goal has been and continue to be to hate men is only misconstruing the movement and failing to take it seriously. Fail to take it seriously, you fail to critique it seriously, and just like that you have problems that are suddenly allowed in.

These are not “conscious” beliefs. They are, majority, subconscious beliefs that influence our actions. I am sure there are those out there who have zero bias. That’s great. But the level of subconscious bias in our society has a lot more effect than those without bias could ever counter act. That’s why mass messaging that shocks people into introspection could be a useful tactic.

It’s not an indoctrination campaign in the sense that you’re thinking about it. It’s that racist comment you heard from a family member in your youth that sticks in the back of your head, or that youtube video on stereotypes you watched back in kindergarten…… very, VERY subtle stuff. Also, it’s not just white people. I’m a POC who was told very racist shit about people of ALL races (white included) by my POC parents. I knew you were going to talk about the asian stereotype so I tried to include “some people get annoyed” 😭😭 walked myself into that one. Feminine work being undervalued in our economy is another conversation. Internalized misogyny/misandry doesn’t cut it for my example. It’s good, but I also want more involvement with masculinity and femininity. Lemme give you an example of what I’m trying to show here: There’s this really toxic, misogynistic youtuber called Yogi something. Forget his full name. Basically your typical misogynist, you know the type. Anyways, he had this one episode on his channel where he states “I think women are biologically programmed to be better at cooking and cleaning, and men just can’t be good at organizing and cooking”. Now, a typical f…

It’s just the closest approximation to what I want to describe. That’s what “toxic” behavior is. Making yourself the victim, believing in the worst about yourself, just to get advantages and sympathy for others. Hence when toxic masculinity perpetuates really awful stereotypes about men so some men can exonerate themselves of accountability despite perpetuating harmful stereotypes - it makes sense to use the word in that context. But you have a point about the inability to change definitions

When the message is understood like this, no it’s not a personal attack. Because ultimately, I understand that it isn’t my fault, or my wrong for my bigotry. It was my society that caused my bigotry, and I am working to fix it. The blame is on the society that did it to me, not some internal evil. Obviously, most people don’t interpret it as such do to the rather explosive and politically incorrect way of saying it. I guess where this comes back is our very definitions of racism and sexism. If I call someone a racist, the first thing that comes to mind is a bigoted, murderous klan member. If I call you a sexist, what comes to mind is a bigoted, chauvinist pig. The connotations associated with the denotations are so extreme, that you can’t call out implicit bias with these terms without stepping over toes. The other part of it is that we view implicit bias as less harmful than overt bias which I disagree wit…

That’s the point. So much of it is individual. So you have to target individuals and put the onus on them. What mass messaging is most effective to make this occur on the widescale.

Yeah the part about people thinking it’s tied to identity is the worst part about it. I want to convey the idea that because we live in a society that is shitty towards groups of people in it, that we all have, to varying degrees, some amount of bias. Doesn’t have to be bigot level bad, but we all have some, and that minute bias starts to add up with more people who hold it. Perhaps those of a certain group hold more of that bias than another due to a somewhat uniform way of that group of people…

Cultural conditioning does not have to be on the levels of indoctrination and zealous hatred. If anything, it can be the oh so subtle stereotype that you internalized in your youth that magically showed up today, even if you largely reject the other parts of the conditioning society gave you early on. It’s a spectrum, no doubt. But there’s no such thing as completely abandoning the conditioning you were raised in. And sure, thinking men are better than calculus than women isn’t the painful, achi…

To me the shock value of such a statement gets people to listen, even if they’re angry while doing so. I guess it stems from the utter rage people have whenever we all say “oh, it’s society wildin again” and we kinda just sit back and feel sorry about ourselves.

But aren’t all men sexist against men to some degree? I know it’s not the most politically correct statement, but putting the onus on people to change their beliefs rather than keeping it nebulous with terms like “society” forces individuals to check their own biases instead of releasing blame into “society”.

In that case this subreddit needs to introduce a better way of speaking on toxic/internalized hatred. As I said in another comment, toxic masculinity/femininity is when one uses traditional constructions of both to their own advantage at the expense of their own gender/other genders. 1) No, it’s a feminist appropriated term that was mischaracterized by them. 2) The term originally referred to the new toxic expectations young boys were exposed to in the 80s and 90s due to the fatherlessness crisis brought on by the war on drugs. It referred to the rising expectation and pressure for boys to do drugs, join gangs, and engage in self destructive behavior in order to prove to society that they were men. And just so I am clear: Toxic femininity: when a woman uses societal constructions of femininity to her benefit, even if that costs men and women at large. The notion can be misogynistic, but if she benefits from it and continues to benefit despite understanding its harm, it’s toxic femininity (kinda the same way toxic masculinity is understood). Internalized misogyny: a woman who supports misogynistic notions of her sex yet derives no benefit from said beliefs.

I still think the concept is useful to talk about men who feel the need to conform to rigid masculine roles in order to be accepted into society, and what that means for society at large. That being said, I do not want feminists to talk about it anymore. Oh yeah my mother has this and she’s from Morocco. The problem is that this gets considered as “internalized misogyny” by feminist women because childcare and the care economy in general is not seen in high esteem by them. But many redpill messages of studs/sluts, the alpha/beta dichotomy are part of media messaging. The Red Pill never introduced “new” concepts. They simply revitalized old misogyny in response to genuine male issues in society. By doing so, they invoke the old power that still has a hold on society. This honestly opens up a bigger conversation about how we approach dating in our current society. The fact that we have better vetting processes for friendships than serious romance says a LOT about our priorities. If we are capable of rearing our children into a culture and exposing them to all facets of said culture, we are capable of working with the ways we expose them to culture. We can even change the culture itself. Something I like about this subreddit is how it encourages all expressions of masculinities, how it allows men to express their sexuality and their masculinity without being labeled as toxic. It also allows for femme men, queer men, etc. We …

So maybe don’t teach them the way things are organized and instead expose them to all the different possibilities of organization, including the traditional, culturally known “masculine-feminine”. I just feel like teaching them about sex differences beyond anatomy without fully understanding neuroscience is just creating confirmation bias. Teach them everything and all possibilities. Expand their horizons on gender. Don’t shelter them from tradition, but let it not be the only lesson. Make gende…

Well again, what do you mean by disagreeing on gender expectations? I can understand science denial and eliminating sex differences through mandating 50/50 representation and not believing equality of opportunity until we have equality of outcome, but what do you mean about “teaching” sex differences? Ultimately people are going to be different and there will be commonalities/differences between the sexes, but that doesn’t need our help as a society, because that’s nature. So what do you mean by…

I never said they didn’t. I actually had a conversation with the OP in another thread discussing harmful social pressures and shame. I never said all social pressure is harmful. I used the word “can”. Don’t put words in my mouth. There are people who develop dysmorphia, who are bullied to suicide, whose brains adopt maladaptive structures and wiring due to harmful societal pressure. This isn’t an overprotective mother. Ever since we evolved beyond the need to find our next meal or die, human beings have tried again and again at figuring out what structure we need in life. We tried religion, secularism, pluralism, etc. etc. We might find an ultimate model to live our lives on, maybe we have, and we just don’t pay attention. Ultimately the best way to do this without going insane is consistently evaluating our society to see what does great harm and what doesn’t, and changing our structures accordingly. That’s o…

I don’t want to get into the specifics of a philosophical debate. I typically only care about free will and choices in one situation: when the choices made by the individual are influenced by society in such a way that are destructive, harmful, and suppressive to the individual. If you getting a nose job makes you happy, go ahead, but why does getting that nose job make you happy? If it’s because society has told you, since birth, that your nose is ugly, that can be harmful, because people who d…

While I heavily criticize radfems for some of their larger theoretical constructions, something I will give them is that their ideas of gender abolition were unfortunately appropriated by girlbosses, liberals/liberal feminists, and the feminist corporate complex to suggest that men and women are the exact same and thus any differences in the corporate world are due to oppression. You know, the “girls bombing the middle east instead of men” types. In my experience radical feminists are critical o…

Hon I’m not disagreeing with that last part. That’s the whole point. Bring in gender equality and eqalitarianism and let biology do its thing. I’ve said that repeatedly in my posts. With regards to what was said earlier, shame and pressure can 100% be used negatively when they force individuals into conformity, lead to toxic expectations, and cause them to think something is wrong with them. I’m sure there will always be trends with the ways people and animals behave across sex. The point is to …

Let’s not throw caution to the wind. We have psychologists, neuroscientists, and many other experts on human development and the brain to help us understand how nurture affects us. Their understanding is not completely obsolete. We know the affects of societal influences on children early on in their development have a major impact. While we aren’t going to change reality in order to completely remove societal bias, there are definitely things we as a society do in relation to gender that are un…

Well again, you’re not going to erase or over explain to children what exists in truth. But you can control their expectations, and their lives, and the environment they can express themselves in. Biology, and more specifically neuroscience, is way too scientifically complex and vastly unknown (when it comes to the brain), and thus archaic understandings of “masculinity” and “femininity” will always involve (A) societal influence and (B) archaic and rudimentary understandings of biology. Hold on. Sex differences should not be “taught”. Sex differences will manifest naturally because one cannot surpress biology. This is what I mean when I say we have societal influences that hinder our growth. You should not be teaching sex differences, people will naturally notice as they grow organically. By teaching them, you may unknowingly influence children into thinking they should be acting a certain way because they are of a certain sex, which is wrong and suppression. Obviously anatomic…

I speak of gender abolition as the abolition of societal standards and influences that perform a “drag” of nature. Obviously gender will continue to be a huge part of human existence. But our society continues to negatively influence men and women and restrictively define masculinity and femininity on terms with no biological basis. Once we have gotten rid of the need to perform gender to recieve certain treatment/negative gender stereotypes, that’s when we can let sex/biology do it’s thing. If …

I was thinking about this the other day and I thought of a few things I would like to share. Often times I am very reluctant to define a “masculine” or “feminine” oriented mindset. The reason I say this is because we define these terms from a largely social standpoint; these terms don’t typically come from neuroscience or scientific academia. We, as a society, define what is masculine and feminine, and that changes from society to society. With that being said, there is evolutionary and biologic…

That is a toxic relationship, and while I do think that toxicity stems from a societal norm of men as stoic columns that is responsible for toughing it out and hearing everyone’s problems, we’re moreso talking about general relationships between men and women that are demonized because “men can’t control themselves”. Toxicity isn’t within the scope of the conversation although that is a very important conversation about men’s roles we can have on another thread.

You saying attractive people have more partners is not the same as saying attraction correlates to willingness to have sex. You can find someone sexually desirable and not want to have sex with them. That’s not redefining terms, that’s just not assuming things. I can be attracted to someone and still not want to fuck them. Sexual arousel does not equal willingness to have sex. So you say here that women’s friendships with external men will “result in a significantly larger number of men who desire to sleep with those women”. Again, the researchers never asked on a scale of 1 to 5 to 9 if the participants would like to sleep with their friends. You are equating attraction with willingness to have sex, which can be two very different things for different people. You cannot make an assumption that attraction = willingness to have sex unless you conduct multiple studies t…

So you need to go back into the data and read the scale they wrote. The scale given for attraction was (1) - No attraction (5) - moderate attraction and (9) - extreme attraction. When I say that men never exceeded an average of 5, that means, on average, according to this study, men are barely moderately attracted to their female friends, because their alpha count number was a mean of 4.94. If you are going to make that argument, then you need scientific studies to back that up. When you say, “I don’t need studies”, then you lose the right to say it comes from biology or something inmate. Biology is not your opinion. The last part of your paragraph is a very slippery slope. Denial is real, and many people who would have otherwise been considered rape victims believe otherwise because of said denial. We need to have a standard definition of rape, albeit not as stringent as radfems like Mary P. Koss, but we still need a standard. Getting pressured into sex is a very dangerous avenue. Absolutely! The problem with radfem and a lot of conservative men out there is they think male sexuality, by virtue of being male, will always cross the line and dip their hands into the cookie jar. This is problematic because it victim blames women who have negative experiences with men (“you must have known that he wanted more than a friendship, you were leading him on”) and silences male victims (“you didn’t like it? I read the article and your responses beneath and I have thoughts. First off, the article’s basis is premised on a single study of 88 undergraduate pairs of particular friendships. This is problematic in the sense that it takes one age group of men and one type of man - that is, young, college men. It is not a general study of all men or a variety of men of all ages and social backgrounds. Again, that may not be important, but if we are talking about men as a whole, it’s relevant because men as …

Reread what I wrote. When overprotective fathers and conservative men demonize other males by saying “i know how men are like” and talking about how all men want to fuck, it leaves girls with sick twisted ideas about men in their heads which CAN lead to misandry. One of the things that frustrates me about feminism is the way they spin misogyny into men’s issues (those they deem valid at least) without actually taking into consideration what the word misogyny means. It’s one thing to hate women and girls, and another thing to hate femininity.
