Marriage and all forms of common law partnership are legally binding. Hence, you are entering a legally binding agreement as soon as you are married or cohabiting. Be very very cautious about ever doing this.

Don’t do it. You will regret every bit of it. Ask her to be your life partner, which is what marriage is, and watch her reaction. That will tell you all you need to know. Also, start the legal paper trail of no fault or remedies as soon as you live or introduce yourselves as a married or cohabiting partner.

Yes, trial. We started but recessed. Not over, but also not even remotely close to prepared. When you say stipulate.

Thank you. It’s a tough reality check, but you are right. Any chance you know of any appellate attorneys?

So, I’m dealing with health issues. Through this, my attorney would ask me for docs and let me know Th ey were being provided to OC. Ultimately, I would provide, then we would get a motion to compel. I would ask my attorney what’s up, he would say it’s normal and OC is difficult. I would get more docs to him, then second motion to compel. I would send more docs and then the hearing to strike pleadings came up and I went, to discover not only were they not receiving it, but that I was not receivi…

Tonight is the first time in a while that I’ve heavily considered it. Unfortunately, I’m starting to plan. Things really went sideways in my divorce. A lot of procedural mishandling by my attorney. Her attorney capitalized on it and the judge granted it all to her. It’s been hard, health wise, financially and everything I worked hard for is gone. I really do wish you the best, but I think this burden has become to hard to carry.

Any extent. Women are not to be understood. They are to be admired. That’s it. Women are not human, they are super human life providers. Literally, by definition. Humans are becoming more ignorant, even women themselves are becoming more confused and less aware of who they were designed to be. Men too. Then, we wonder why we can’t get along. Women, are the vessel. Without them, we don’t have a future. Without men, neither do they. It’s a thin line between success and failure. Currently, we are s…

Don’t do it, man just don’t get married. Also, depending on your country or state, be aware of common law, marriage, and what that means. In my state, they have the same rights as someone who’s married.

So true! I’m happy that you’re in a great relationship. All I can say is there’s so many great men out there that get absolutely slaughtered by this and we talk about how the world is about men. What a joke? Our society literally deprives men of the ability to defend themselves, not only physically, but legally as well. It’s such a weird life for so many.

I agree. Based on my experience and how things occurred. I do believe once I’m out of this legal situation, I will share my educational experience and do my best to share information of this process to build awareness. Not just because it can happen, but because it’s so preventable.

Well said! I’m sorry that you’ve gone through this. Yeah, I’m definitely compiling a lot of notes and learning everything I can throughout this process. I do believe once I get out of the process, I intend on sharing educational components of the system itself, especially when it comes to family law.

Look, I don’t know what county you’re in and I don’t know what district court you are in. Here’s the hard fact. If you have the financial means, get you a better lawyer. Now! Also, I’m not sure if you’re aware, but you have the right to go into your community funds to pay for this divorce. If that means that you need to sell stocks that you need to sell bonds that you need to sell whatever to get this done, get it done. Don’t sell yourself short friend. Our minds are easily manipulated. Even more so when substances that target receptors at a particle level. It’s not an excuse, but a reality. Think of it like water. Only because you’ve been around calm waters, it doesn’t mean it won’t drown you.

It’s been broadly agreed that this is causing issues in marriages. Supposedly because of the receptors it sits on. My take, when we lose weight and look more healthy, less obese, we become more attractive. Any insecurity is heightened and as compliments start flowing, people begin to believe they are the “one”. What a lot haven’t figured out, is that they will be chasing that forever. Why? Because no one can make you feel worthy. Thats a self fulfilling prophecy. Also my take, this is a temporar…

Not sure about dating for a while. I know I’m not there yet and can tell my anger and resentment need so love and attention. That in itself is enough to know I’m no where near ready for anyone at the moment. I can’t explain it, but it’s been tough. But, that is life. I have more women friends now and I appreciate them, because they remind me what I want in a woman and what I don’t. Make some new friends that’s a key ingredient to your new life.

Find a way to start preparing and have all your ducks ready. Do your best to be as nimble and quick as possible. Have all financials outlined and ready to go. Yes GLP- is linked with the loss of “love” receptors that have been linked to potential loss of interest in current relationships. Going out on a limb here. It sounds like there’s still pent up anger and frustration over the ex and women. The best think to do is sort that out so you can be more focused on the best path forward for you.

Go ahead and move forward. Once you are divorced. Date again. Let her know that as we are all finding out, marriage is more legally binding anyways. It has nothing to do with love.

We need others. I respect your monk mode. But we need others that can be loving and caring towards us. They are out there. Not everyone is going to hurt us. With that said. I respect your decision as I too have participated in this mode before and do from time to time. It’s very peaceful and I very much enjoy it. I also miss connecting with people too. So there’s that.

It’s OK! You would’ve beat yourself up if you never asked. Now you know. Chin up. I would like to think that I would never want what I had before because that’s a lie. I know I would take it all back in a heartbeat; however, I’m different now, and so is she. So all I would be wanting back is a past that can no longer exist in the present or future. I want the good times that I held onto so badly. Those good times or what allowed me to put up with 10 years of absolute self-abandonment. Of course,…

All they need to do is get one side to think that they’re gonna make more money. That’s typically the woman. I mean I’m not saying men aren’t like this either. However, since we are in a men’s thread, I would say that for us, we’ve all experienced it to be the woman. With that being said, once they have someone thinking they can make more money out of it. It’s easy to keep them tangled. I’ve been in mine for over two years over half $1 million in legal fees and still counting. This isn’t even cu…

My dogs and thankfully most of my friends call me every now and then and I do the same. Truthfully, I don’t necessarily want to have the same Conversations with my friends about my divorce. However, what helped was a group of other men who have been or are going through a divorce. Yeah, it’s a new frontier. I think about her, but not in that way. There’s just too much damage and unnecessary evil that she put out when she left. She could have easily just left and that would have been hard enough. But, instead, she tore everything down and made sure to destroy as much as possible on her way out. I’ve never experienced that much evil and hate in my life. I also don’t wish it on my worst enemy. So, no. I can’t relate. But, I can see how it’s not easy. Men love hard and suffer even more.

Therapy kept me alive at the beginning. Now it’s helping me progress through the residual trauma from the past and divorce. Mainly allowing me to see how childhood trauma set the course for where I am today. It’s helped me make better decisions with others. However, it’s work. The habit loop is real and now I notice, but need the help to break the cycle. So, yes, it’s helped. However, you will want to do and also do the work. This is hard and I pretty much had all the other things that occurred at a young age and family come rushing back too, cptsd. It’s a very tough time. It’s taught me so much about myself and the world around me. More importantly, I’m someone that I am proud of. I’ve never been this alone, yet so much happier and grateful in my life. Don’t beat yourself up. It’s ok to change course. This isn’t a failure. This is a learning. Trust me, losing it “all” can be extremely painful in the moment and for some time. But, there’s also a sense of freedom that comes from being to adjust course and set sails with the wind, instead of against them. Don’t get caught up in the pain. One day it will be your greatest source of strength. Don’t be afraid and don’t be discouraged. It is better to conquer oneself than a thousand in battle. In this…

How would it hurt anyone? If a woman or man for that matter, did me wrong and someone reached out to understand this person better. I would provide my opinion based on facts and allow the other person to make a decision. Specifically, to this, imo the bro code would be share. Think about what you’re saying. If you asked someone to better understand a person that they had experience and this person did you wrong. You would tell them to figure it out themselves. This would mean that we would like to see another person fail. Of course they can still choose that person, but it wouldn’t be by being ill informed.

Don’t necessarily agree. I think we all here would want a heads up. Heck, a lot of us were in relationships with women who did a number on us and got away to just go and do it again. I get it, we don’t want to get involved. But, that’s a big reason why it continues to happen.

You will make it through. Unfortunately, I went and still am going through something similar. It was/is brutal. I get the pain is unbearable, but only a part of you wants to die, not all of you. It will end. Maybe not as soon as we want it to, but this will pass. There are no words for this. I stopped trying to control it. If you can, try to get some rest. It’s life unfortunately. It can be cruel like this. Happens to us as men too. We love and they don’t. There’s a saying that sticks with me during these times. Love is when you give someone else the power to destroy you, and you trust them not to do it. In other words, when someone else chooses to hurt us. They don’t love us. Simple, yet at times hard to accept. I know this isn’t an easy time. But, I hope you find yourself on this journey. May peace be in your heart so that your womb may be of he…

If that’s the logic. Then let’s apply all the way around. Let’s face it, there are not many that do not get “coerced” into a life that society pushes. It’s easy to exploit all humans into a business as a means for survival. Again, once you see it, it’s hard to unsee it. Most are walking around justifying their existence. Why we should or shouldn’t do something. Laws or not, defending democracy yet accepting corruption. Claiming morality, yet destroying the planet. We are kept busy with jobs and …

No judgement either. There is a reason why it’s the oldest and most common profession in the world. Governments just hate not getting a piece of the pie. Which is why they create these “norms”. A part of you is likely thinking about it and now ruminating about it too. Which means you are likely telling yourself various versions about this loneliness that does not paint you or a part of you in a good light. Because things change. There will likely be things that weren’t considered and gaps that come up that were not seen. Also, it’s a reminder, that you may be married, but love has nothing to do with the business side of marriage. This is the most trusting exercise one can practice. All intentions are on the table. This is true trust. This is the highest legal act of continued loyalty.

I would gladly stare straight through that nonsense and continue on my friend. There’s a line of kindness that one should adhere to. This is beyond that level and it’s crossing boundaries. If anyone that has betrayed me for whatever reason we should cross paths, it’s a simple situation, they don’t exist and neither do I. Doesn’t matter how awkward they feel or don’t. We will never be friends and I will never pretend to be theirs.

That’s our minds being simplistic. It will tell us anything to make us “feel” something. It’s tough to experience the loss. What I find even more important is to remember that we must tell ourselves a different story to make our present and future a more fulfilling experience. Keep finding what makes your days a little less stressful and more enjoyable. It’s really that simple. However, at times not easy.

We are all in our own worlds within our minds. Some deceive to find what they think they want. Others manipulate to get what they want and many others lie to ensure a life that is more or less ideal for them. These levers are designed to “protect” the self. The one that I believe is difficult for so many, is the sense of self love and knowing one self. If we are not aware of this self love, we will likely try to get this “love”from others…this is a never ending search. Which is why the validatio…

Agreed. Thats for everyone to navigate. I can attest to the difficulty myself. However, it us and us alone that engage with our inner self and the matters that afflict us. As I like to tell myself: “Others may have caused me pain, hurt me, physically and emotionally. It is, however, up to me and me alone to ensure I heal from this. Regardless of the age, the times or circumstances. I must enact a level of awareness and forgiveness to them and myself.” There are days where this light brightens my…

We should be deciding what happens with money and kids prior to divorce. This would resolve these issues. It’s rare that we see amicability once divorce is on the table. I really don’t think knowledge is a winner over biology and its etiology, respectively towards psychological effects. Meaning, we may know what to do, but our evolution affects our ability to do it. You setting boundaries does not make you anything but a healthy individual. Other healthy individuals recognize this and respect it. Clearly there’s a reason why you guys got a divorce. Of course I’m not saying if you can don’t. But in this situation, it appears that you’re having to go over and beyond to make this happen. Therefore, a lot of boundaries are being crossed. If you don’t set them now, she will continue to push the boundaries and you will continue to be resentful.

If I were in your shoes, I’d start by holding two truths at once: You’re not responsible for her wellbeing anymore. You chose to leave the marriage, and without kids involved, you aren’t her primary source of care. Carrying that weight will only blur the boundary you’ve been trying to create. You’re still a human who cares. Seeing someone you loved in visible decline is going to stir worry, guilt, and the instinct to act. I hear brother. It’s true. Everyone expects men to sit and take it. While they run off and get away with things we couldn’t fathom. At the end of the day. It’s our responsibility to pick ourselves up and keep moving. It’s not easy and there are days that I’m not sure what I’m doing or why I’m doing it. Most of what I built and worked for is gone. Meanwhile she’s on vacation with her new partner and I’m hear, trying to finalize things while she postpones the divorce to keep getting paid. Everythi…

It’s so true. i’ve had to tell my friends that divorce isn’t the only thing that I have going on. I’m reading books and starting to become part of groups in setting hobbies for myself that don’t revolve around this matter. Interestingly, enough, others like drama and gossip. What you realize is they think that you want to talk about it and sometimes being polite you let them in, but it ends up just tainting the conversation. It becomes negative and ultimately creates an impression that leaves bo…

Not one bit. Initially, I thought talking about it and letting out that frustration would resolve something. However, it did the opposite. It made me realize that it was stopping any growth. It’s a lot like complaining. The more we complain the more we talk about the problem the bigger the problem becomes in the more we find excuses to not solve or do the work. From a personal standpoint. I spent so much time wanting something that was in the past. What I’m coming to find now, is that that energ…

So true bro. The truth. I know you’re not trying to “win” none of us are. We logically thought that things would make sense if they happened. There is no “winning” in any of this. There is growth and self mastery/ discovery and that’s a great endeavor. Keep your head up bro. You and the rest of us don’t lose…we move forward and know that’s the best step.

This is a great post. I can appreciate the complexity of assessing this from a logical standpoint. And it resonates with us as men. Because we’re logical. There’s a lot of complexities to this that I think we as divorced or Soon To Be divorced men can attest to. The best advice I can provide is to focus on yourself. This fear of being alone will cause it to come to life. It’s also potentially causing a sense of self abandonment. This in itself can cause stress and anxiety that may way heavy on the relationship. Seek therapy for this if you can and truly understand that all things in our lives are temporary even our most important and meaningful relationships.

You’re on the right track. Do your best to remove the idea of your MIL needing to testify and don’t threaten your STBX with this. It may sound simple, but the less is said and the less emotional back and forth the better. It’s harder than it seems due to the nature of divorce. As many have mentioned get an attorney to draw up the paperwork and keep the process moving forward. If it’s truly uncontested it’s as easy as going to legal Zoom and submitting the paperwork to your respective courthouse.

This is good advice. I do think there are good lawyers and I am confident that not all are bad. Ultimately, you can’t bring it up to her and you need to keep it to yourself, if that’s the path you choose. If you believe that things will work out because you guys have an “amicable” relations…

It quickly becomes about the energy. Women no longer have the same meaning. Heck, humans for that matter. Beauty is skin deep. Energy, let that be the voice of reason. The real part is knowing yourself in order to trust other’s energy and being able to step aside and not engage.

The part is to recognize that in there somewhere, self love and self compassion must grow. I equate it to a River that now flows through. /r/Divorce_Men22/07/25 01:19 AM

It will. Her lawyers want some of the cut. Thats how they survive. You pay for a lawyer now that wants their cut too. Welcome to the system. It really sucks and trust me, It’s never enough. It keeps going as long as possible. Why you ask? Because without you and I paying, the lawyers don’t get to sit down with the judges at fancy restaurants and lavish outings from the system that was created to serve them. We pay they enjoy.

There are ways around this, if you decide you want to allow her to keep the home and continue paying on it. There’s plenty of clauses that you can be put in place of course ultimately like most are saying the whole point of divorce is to have division that is clear cut. However, not everything has to be the way everyone is saying ultimately like any decision. This is yours. Take a step back. Don’t overreact. Be amicable and begin the process and not the games. You are not “divorced” yet. So don’t act like you are. You are entering a world that you don’t even know or understand yet. Be kind to yourself and know that we are all just humans. Regardless of how well you did or didn’t, what others do is not on us. However, what we do and how we react is. Don’t worry about yesterday and tomorrow. Be focused and present. Otherwise, you will be steamrolled by her and life.

If we self reflect on this, it’s not just women. It’s society as a whole. Self preservation over community. Most people are seeing others as a way to get “ahead”. As a personal note. I’m also seeing this in business. Several individual businesses are finding ways to maneuver from making payments and meeting their obligations with a ton of smokescreens, delays and ultimately no accountability. Not sure if this is a shared experience too. Would love to hear what you guys are experiencing too.

It’s in their nature. Women seek to instinctually destroy the things around them. The moment the utility is no longer there for whatever is in front of them. At the same time attorneys are ridiculous just to respond an email. They’re charging you $500.And they don’t give you any resolution only more problems that need solving that cost more money.

Get married before God and the Church and not the state. I mean, that’s what matters right? The covenant between God not the state?

I’m not sure how long you’ve been going through this. But these things take time you’re going to be OK I promise. There’s a lot to uncover, but don’t beat yourself up. Know that you can turn a page that’s for the better. First of all just because she’s not coming back. Does not mean that she’s becomes your enemy. We can have different paths and that’s OK. She’s on her journey And now, you are on your journey to something different. Yes, it’s hard when the person we love leaves or when we’ve come…

Remember it’s about not giving into her at the peril of yourself. It’s about knowing that you can be in your truth without giving in to the need of her or others. Don’t scream past the yellow and red flags.

Enjoy the travels! Yes, feel free to DM me. I’m excited to hear back. I’m totally in agreement with sticking together. More importantly, helping us as men avoid these situations altogether, and when in them, finding a path to the other side.

That sounds horrible. I’m sorry you’re going through this. I’m curious how this was even agreed to by your lawyer knowing that the total income was $10,000 a month and this was in that amount like how are you supposed to survive? When is your court date set for

I was thinking about starting something like this myself. I would love to be able to potentially join you on your journey if you need some help. At the moment, I think it’s important that men not just of older age, but of all ages understand the absolute risk and or how to potentially mitigate the risk at all cost. I would love to be able to set something up for men that are also gone through. It can have support emotionally and legally. What state are you in? Maybe we could have an off-line con…

This is something I did not want to hear when I first joined this group. She’s done with you. You just do not want to accept it. And, you don’t value yourself(at the moment) learn to identify why the ladder isn’t the most important thing to you. And why you’ve neglected yourself for over 10 years. Once you discover this, you’ll realize that she was here to teach you a lesson. One that you’re having a hard time accepting at the moment. however, if you go into it and accept it, realize that this i…

The amount of pain and suffering that is caused by a woman that is self righteous and all encompassing is diabolical and cruel. If only there were justice.

You don’t owe anything and you did nothing wrong. You’ve been manipulated to believe that you’re the reason why this all fell apart. This is a two a street my friend. Trust me, I’ve been where you’re at. Stop being a martyr because you’re not. I don’t even know if I realize it yet, because I’m still in the process. However, what I am realizing is that she sure as hell didn’t love me. She just loved everything that I did for her. The moment I started setting my boundaries I became the bad guy And…

I feel the pain in your message. I can’t even begin to imagine but wait, I can. I’m living it. It’s like something takes over their souls. You’re the bad guy and you’re the reason why everything in their life has gone bad. They take no accountability and then put you through hell to discharge all the pain that they feel about the life that they chose to not live Now it’s your fault, you caused all of it. It’s your problem now yeah, and we allow it to happen. It’s our fault, for believing in love…

Good question. No, my parents did not get divorced, but they hated each other into this day hate each other. They are together but miserable and don’t even talk to each other. It’s horrendous. Both of my parents have so many issues that I carry a lot of of the pain from a ton of abuse as a child. I didn’t realize I was running from it until now. I thought I’d have reconciled all of my mental health issues at a younger age, but all I did was put a ton of Band-Aids, that eventually all came undone…

What’s going on with women? This is a very similar thing that’s happening to me and many of my friends. What’s wrong with us for falling into the BS trap of marriage. Or, did we believe something when we said our vows that they didn’t?

Women? Dude, this is about me and me. I’m not either interested in men or women. This has been a complete shit show. Trust out the window. My friends are all married and unhappily. So they’re watching each. Trying to figure out how the hell they’re gonna navigate if they get the notice themselves. Everyone around me is just watching me. Flail around like a fish out of water. I’m doing everything. I’ve been doing everything therapy, EMDR, church groups, divorce groups, etc. I’m discovering that I…

That’s their goal. They can’t admit responsibility so they feed their lies with more manipulation and emotional traps that they love to say it’s all you and not them. They are throwing the first punch and recording your justifiably reaction. However, it’s only showing you acting “irrational”. Not the full perspective.

This is tough to read because I can completely understand. When someone just changes course without any real reasons other than they chose to do it differently. I don’t think that any outside circumstance will make it better. You gotta dive into yourself that’s the purpose of all of this. The purpose of your situation is to teach you that only you are going to save you. No one is coming to save you. Here’s the truth, you don’t need anyone you don’t need your children. You don’t need your ex-wife…

Thank you all for the incredible advice. You guys have been absolutely awesome. It’s incredible. How one gets caught up in all this. Does anyone have a Texas lawyer they recommend? As to some of the points that have been mentioned. This is a community state property so it’s 50-50. We have quite a few assets however it’s pretty straightforward. The only thing right now that she’s not aware that I know of is two accounts that she never shared with me however, do discovery I anticipating shall prod…

Happy birthday! I can’t even begin to fathom how you’re feeling. You’ve worked hard and hopefully you have loving and caring children. Would’ve come to discover as men, we are very much use until we serve the purpose of women once they don’t see a purpose for us they leave and find their next adventure. We tend to be more loyal, even though the script is quite the opposite sure there are men out there who don’t stick around. But it seems like more and more these days I’m around men who are extre…
