This is a nice thing to see. When I joined, we were at something like 30,000.

The viewing was tonight. One young lady actually brought her boyfriend. All of those in attendance were quite sympathetic. One older male student was brought to tears, and told us about the time he was assaulted by a girlfriend. He'd never told anyone before, as far as I know. I am awaiting written reactions. Perhaps more later.

Yes. The viewing was tonight. And I was surprised by the student response: It was a powerful eye-opener and they were quite sympathetic.

I think it would be a great idea, since so many of us had our eyes opened by his books. I would also recommend making MP3 files of the conversations you have with him and posting them through something like iTunes. I love a good YouTube video, but I spend many more hours listening to podcasts.

This video is required viewing in my graduate level counseling/ psychology class. And students from such programs tend to have pretty strong feminist leanings. It will be interesting to see the reactions. I expect it will be a lot like what happens to the Wicked Witch of the West at the end of Oz. but after a few weeks of letting it sink in, maybe my students might decided to care about men, and do something to help them.

I was so sad to learn that we had lost AH. He was an integral part of my red pill journey. His site was one of the very few that were available to men such as myself at that time. He was a giant in the MRM. His gifts will echo for decades. And he will live in our memories forever. I already miss you, Angry Harry. We lost you too soon.

There is a set of books by Nathenson & Young that are pretty sizable tomes. But if you have some time, I really recommend them. Titles are as follows: "Spreading Misandry: the teaching of contempt for men in popular culture." "Legalizing Misandry: From public shame to systematic discrimination against men." "Sanctifying Misandry: Goddess ideology and the fall of man." All three of these books are whoppers. Thicker than my local phone book. But well sourced and compelling reading. Even used copie…

This is one of the reasons I stopped listening about five years ago. Never saw any actual numbers anywhere until this post, but I suspected. I just became very tired of the female bias/pandering. By the way..I am reminded of a very amusing story about how NPR tried to snare Adam Carolla on a question of racism against Asians. Turned out that the example they tried to use against him was Actually Joe Koy, who was doing an over the top Asian accent. And he is an Asian comic. It is telling that thi…

I just noticed something VERY interesting in the trailer. It is at 7:49: During his interview with CJ, guy wipes a tear away from his eye, gets up out of his chair and says "I don't want sympathy for this!" The way its cut, at first glance, it seems like its an MRA having an emotional moment about some pain or injustice he either witnessed personally, or experienced himself. But that ain't it. Watched this 3-4 times now, and I am 99% sure its Michael Kimmel, and he is getting pissy because he re…

Quote from the email blast that Dr. Farrell put out for this video: " Here is how you can use this video to help a boy challenged by lack of motivation, ADHD, video games, or school: the more you view this and “Like” it, the more it will command the attention of the national TED editors—which will ultimately signal to schools, our presidential candidates and the White House that our sons are facing problems that require our national focus. I am noticing a fairly salient pattern with things like this. It goes something like this: Woman accuses because of X, or Y (Rape, gender bias, etc.)...case cannot be proven in court, or implodes under scrutiny outside of a court room. Write up in the news is "X or Y is still a very important issue...our company/organization is fully behind women in such matters. Will provide more training in these matters." That contributes to the next round of insanity, directly, or indirectly. Nobody wants to…

"The article has lead to soul-searching about rapes on campus and crimes..." Which crime was that? A rape accusation that had no supporting evidence? Or a woman that decided to falsely accuse someone else of a crime? Or a true-believer journalist that decided to stir up a feminist feeding frenzy by writing fiction, then trying to pass it off as investigative journalism. "The school is also considering new courses to teach students safety and a center to research violence." Sounds kind of milquet…

I've tried to find the PM option to explain my position on the CMNI, but damn...can't find it. So this will have to be public. Tom Golden has what I find to be a cogent critique of the CMNI, citing it as an example of anti-male bias in the social science literature. It is here: http://menaregood.com/wordpress/misandry-in-psychological-research/ He is a clinician, more than a researcher. But I am a researcher more than a clinician, yet I find his review to be damning enough. And I am in a positio…

I feel your pain, dude. I felt the same thing when I was looking for doctoral positions when I was finishing my Ph.D. 15.5 years ago. I kept seeing "women and minorities encouraged to apply" in each advertisement. And each one was a little red pill. But I have an inside tip: Since that time, I have become a department chair and full professor. And that means I am responsible for finding new faculty when we have an opening in my department. Anyone remember Amy Bishop? She was a biology professor that was denied tenure at the University of Alabama, and she showed up at a subsequent department meeting with gun and killed one and wounded three others. And there is some question about whether or not she intentionally shot and killed her younger brother when he was 18, and she was 21.

I do wonder what Sarkeesian will do when the public becomes less credulous. What will she do to up the ante? Carve "MRA" on her own forehead with a pocket knife? Or hire an accomplice to give her a mild beating so she can have bruises to show on twitter? The mind boggles...

I can be counted among those that were former feminists. I'm an academic, and I used to teach a fair amount of feminist ideas in my classes. Indeed, I published papers based on feminist ideas. When I started taking those jagged red pills, however, I began to see how much of a 'useful idiot' I'd been. I now consider myself to be one of their most ardent opponents.

It was not anti MRAs making the video. I know that because I was the one recording. I was using my old and tired iPod. And I started recording when these asshats came on the scene. And the opposition was indeed screaming about being "racist" and "anti-gay." It was indeed me (an MHRA) shouting at the end: "We are the movement that feminism promised but never delivered!"

I was at both events. The room for the lecture held 180 seats, and there were very few that were empty. No feminist disruptions, which was a bit disappointing. I was hoping to see them make asses out of themselves like they did for other lectures. There was some fun at the rally the next morning. Maybe two dozen nut cases showed up to shout at us with a bullhorn. One chant that they use which I recall was "Were here, we're queer, get used to it" which made absolutely no fucking sense. Been through two divorces. In the first one, wife asked for it. I was not happy, but I felt I had no choice, so I went along with it. Second time, the wife also asked. I am a frequent traveler to Eastern Europe, spending an entire semester in Russia on a scholarship some years ago. While there, I met a Russian woman, fell in love with her, and asked her to marry me. This was in the spring of 2005. I've seen the first three out of the seven videos, and it is an absolutely devastating expose' on social constructionist gender ideologues. Watching them sputter and stutter when they're confronted with the biological side of each topic (gender is only one of the seven videos) is some of the best entertainment I've enjoyed in many months. My first 'red pill' was in '06, and I think I can say the landscape has changed dramatically since then. There were only two website I knew of at the time that dealt with men's issues: mensactivism.org and Men's News Daily. Times have changed. We're no longer ignored. Feminists are fighting us now. Actually, Male Psychology (the study of men as men) has been around for quite a while, probably since the late 1970s. A portrait of empowerment, courtesy of the MRM. Congrats, brother. Sometimes we get really bummed out with all of the negative news. There are fetishes, and then there are FETISHES. Some like a little lingerie in the bedroom, where others need someone to pee or shit on them or burn them with cigarettes. I read the post about this commercial at Rollo's blog, and I think it popped up in the manosphere because it give a big FU to the "protector/provider" role. Instead of a man making his salary available for use by the wife (80% of discretionary purchases are made by women) a man uses it for himself. I have to agree. He certainly does not pull any punches, nor do most all of the other authors there. But I think there should be a distinction made between being a true misogynist (which I very rarely see in the manoshpere, except for PUA blogs) and simply opposing feminism. They're not the same thing, even though those that oppose the MRM try to make it seem like they are.

Our moment (the tipping point) is indeed closer than it has ever been. I've been in this since spring of 2006, and the growth is astonishing. The MRM has gone from a handful of fringe sites, to actual mentions in the MSM. Why? Because we speak the truth. Moreover, we're the smaller force fighting an asymmetrical war. The larger force (in this case, feminism) rarely fares well in such a situation.

I have been outspoken on occasion. But then I've paid for it. Maybe I went off half-cocked. That is possible. But the typical pattern is: I make some kind of move, or make some kind of comment or case, and then there is no public engagement about it where I might be able to explain myself (especially with students). Instead, A) I get the cold shoulder, or B) someone goes and complains to a dept. chair or dean, and then I get called in to explain myself to someone that has already made up their m…

Didn't read the article, but it appears to support the position to NOT confront a cheating GF or wife. Just get out, as surgically and as quickly as possible. There is not moral victory to be had. I look sexist? Really? If I am working in psychology, and men are killing themselves at four times the rate that women are, and I send aspirants to other academics because I say that I can't help them with their research, I will lose my job? I am not telling students what to study, or what to NOT study. I am telling them what I will and will NOT help with. We are talking about theses and dissertations, here. Not classes. I haven't checked your comments, but I think you might be beating yourself up unnecessarily. While we are careful to avoid threats of physical violence, or gratuitous chick-hate, I think all of us are well aware (and often intimately familiar with) the crushing emotional toll that gender politics can have on individual men. And that can cause a reaction. Expressing that can be a first step in getting closer to the other side. So I don't see anything that you need to apologize for.

What you described is a perfect example of an MRM idea that has not gotten much traction yet: Schrödinger's suspicion: How men are suspect in such situations, just because they are men. Has happened to me, too, and I know it does not feel good. 90% of rape victims are women? Really? You must not be interested in including those men that are in prison. And often times they are imprisoned at the behest (or accusation) of a woman. And as a mental health professional, I am well aware of the eating disorder statistics. But how would you compare those statistics, to male suicide? And what about the bias in the eating disorder research? Nobody ever asks men, or boys. And street harassment? Is that somehow worse than street death (i.e., murder…

The problem is this: We've heard it all before. People (both women AND men) say that that they are against SEXISM, and why can't we both fight that social malady together? If you'd spent much time researching the issues, then you'd have learned that feminists have pretty much run the table, in terms of 'sexism.' If you ask anyone on the street about what that word means, they'd all (99%) of people you might speak to, would equate that term with women, and their complaints. For example, tell me p…

If I may: One is used to develop a theory (qualitative), while the other is to test the theory (quantitative). Then theory is modified or discarded based on the outcomes of the cycling between qualitative & quantitative. Where does anecdotal evidence fit? Usually it can be classified as the single subject case study, that causes someone to react: "wtf just happened here?" Seems to me that it starts the whole cycle. It serves as the catalyst for further investigation. Unless you're a feminist.

For me it was the passing of the International Marriage Brokers Regulation Act (IMBRA) in 2006. Although the zestiest is to "hang'em high"...when the rubber meets the road and a clinician is faced with an actual situation, there is more of a valuing process than MRM folks would likely know or believe. For myself, as a supervisor, I recommend a substance abuse evaluation first, unless the situation is less ambiguous.

I admire her tenacity. If I had a shipping address, I'd fed ex a six pack to her. Writing for GMP on an MRM issue is a dicey thing at best. As a woman, she might be one of the few that could actually be heard and maybe understood. Accusations of being in favor of rape? Not sure that it could stick on her. At least not like it would if I, (a man) wrote something similar. At worst, detractors could claim that she is 'blind to her own oppression' (which is of course...complete cultural Marxist bull…

I don't really look for any measurable impact. If any of us did, I'm not sure we would have the morale to carry on. On some level, I do what I do for unknown others, but I am realistic about what I am up against. There is a lot of energy behind my moral outrage and sense of injustice and unfairness, and I feel like I have to do something with it. Otherwise it could make me physically ill. Does that have an impact? It wouldn't if I was alone. But I have to feel like there is growth here. A good e…

As far as false accusations, you might want to get a recording of your partner saying that she had a great time with you, when you had that roll in the hay. There are smartphone apps that you can get that will record phone calls. This would evidently be an after the fact effort, and it might be illegal in your state. But at least then you would have some kind of proof that your contact was consensual. The other stuff? Other guys might disagree, but I don't think there is much you can do except t…

This article was a bit long for me to read, but from what little I could get to, it looks just like another garden variety effort to tell men what the should be, instead of taking them for what they are. It is another 'gender studies' course. The only thing that makes this course different from womyn's studies, is the pair of fake balls tacked onto it. When anyone tries to tell you what it means to be a man, they are manipulating your for their own purposes.

The MRM is stacked with the most intelligent, articulate and astute men (and women) that I have seen on the internet. Here we have an excellent example of Raunch-Feminism (i.e., we can do whatever we want to do, and if you are disgusted and do not agree, then you are a misogynist.) I wonder: If I prefer not to have sex with a woman that is 200 pounds, does that mean I'm a misogynist? Or maybe it's something else...like sometimes a guy will...once in a while, not want to service a fat chick? No need to answer. I get it. But btw...no thanks...

One of the things that is so repellent about the mental health field for men, is the 'Social Justice' piece that is shoved down students' throats. All of the ills that minorities live with are theoretically a product of racism/sexism. And who is most guilty of racism/sexism? Men. Particularly white men. The tragic irony is this: Men as a group, are profoundly short-changed and abused by society, yet they are the ones that are most vilified by the profession that should otherwise help them get th…

You do not mention whether or not you are a legal permanent resident (Green card holder). If you are not, then you would be well-advised to start and complete that process. The last thing that you want, is to be bound up in immigration hassles while your also dealing with something as serious as a child custody issue.

Yes, I do indeed make a distinction between women and feminists. There are a lot of complaints about women that come up in the MRM, and many of them are quite justified. Nymphotropism is one example, and hypergamy is another. Neither is a feature exclusive to feminism, but both are associated with the female sex. However, the real threat to the civil and human rights of men, come from feminist ideology. And there are many men that are hard core feminazis (NOMAS, Good Men Project, etc.) Such men …

The assumption in your statement is that the male/female disparity in university admissions is based on intelligence, is quite flawed. I find this to be fairly compelling, and not because it probably pisses off feminists. True: it is only a 'correlation.' Evidence of causation it is not. I think part of the reason that we get painted with that broad brush, is because that is one of the first things to come out of a feminist's mouth (male or female) when we show our dissent: "You must hate women." None of us are perfect. But the real question is: Is the alleged victim credible? Is she believable? In this case, the accuser is not. She has lied about other things that are quite pertinent to the case: A supposed gang rape. "Whether the girl chose to be drunk is 100% BESIDES THE POINT! While drinking alcohol isn't…

Yes. In a professional context. When they learn that you no longer believe what you used to believe, they either stop talking to you about these issues so as to avoid an argument, or give you a subtle but clear cold shoulder. The logic of feminist arguments in these cases always puzzle me. When trying to figure out if someone is telling the truth, is it not natural to ask if they have lied before? And if they have, as is evidently the case with this attention whore, wouldn't any reasonable person conclude that whatever fall out of that person's mouth, could very well be a lie? But since I am part of the evil patriarchy, who am I to point out such mundane concepts as logic and credibility?
/r/MensRights08/07/11 05:13 AM

That is indeed the tricky part. There's probably no way to be 100% sure. But a few questions I'd ask are: Have you ever -served any clients from company XYZ? -served anyone in my particular line of work in this area? Then ask her to change her hair color or wear a wig. Easiest solution: Import a pro from another city. But that would get into some $$$.

For the same reason that religious people sometimes lash out at non-believers. They don't like having their beliefs questioned. It's like Feminism is the Catholic church, and The MRM is Galileo. I teach people to be Mental Health counselors, and I've been seeing this for probably the last 8 years. And in all three of the classes I had this past semester, there was only one male. I really do wonder what my profession is going to do about it. It is pretty clear to me that men are far better off talking about their problems with other men. You're right. But empirical evidence is all I have. That's why I wait for the Women's Studies office to launch a sneak attack someday.
