Take everything you can take legally. She has filed, she wants out so she will eventually swallow the hard pill. Just act as if you are ready to sit on it as long as possible. She is not your friend anymore. There is nothing amicable anymore. Are kids involved?

Even if you move out? I thought moving out automatically means separation.

I assume no spousal support? How come you cant afford a house. With 1840 CC how much you earn per month. She got house but you must have got retirement or something right. Assets division must be 50/50 or no? How come you not receive 50/50 parenting time. Does that reduce CC? If no apply that.

Most likely, only to you in person but usually not when X is present/asking for it. Anyways don’t expect it even if your parents would do.

Imo, in texas you will have to give half of marital assets (earned during marriage). Property before marriage and inheritances and their increase in value is exempted. Spousal support is very modest, which should be the main difference from california.

Do you mean that separation while living under same roof is not possible in texas?
/r/Divorce_Men02/09/25 04:11 AM

Have heard that there is quite minimal spousal support in texas.

They are not your friend. Patents are always on the side of their kid. You will be too.

If you have kids, don’t beat yourself for being weak. You may be not pulling the plug for the kids. If you have a bully STBX, dont beat yourself. She may have manipulated, abused, controlled, and instilled fear in you. Thats why you might not be acting. Go to therapy, find the reason, why you are weak. IMO, being weak is legit for (1) but certainly not for (2)

Why does system allow this weaponisation in the first place. You are right men settle because they know fighting for even what is legal is so damn hard. Sometimes they sacrifice for kids. Why not just make the system such that ‘vindictive **’ cant steam roll you at all. Problem is the system not men or women. When women know they can play these cards they become vindictive. And who benefits - attorneys, mediators, judges.

Why go to trail? How about I tell to get the salary you were promised, you need to go to trail that will take 2 years and may require even more money than the salary. Why pool in funds, when people know there is no property division, no one is going to pool in funds. They keep their own funds and just share expenses. Its that simple. And btw what I said is already close to what is there in countries like Norway and Sweden. Thats where divorce is easy not in north america. Open up your eyes and b…

Generally what percent of your assets you wrote off. Also what percent of usually alimony she gets. Is it fixed or vary if your income changes. Does it change if she earns well as well?

The system is extremely shitty when there is no need for it to be. If you just cut off any SS or property division, encourage financial independence, ensure equal custody, bring benefits for children rather than parents, bring accountability for CS, and make divorce easy, no abuse will ever happen.

Understand that family law is written in a way of letting bully win, especially if they are women. If the bully (more powerful is man) there are many guards around it but its female sorry nothing can be done much. So you made a fair choice. Every rare a man can say that he came on top. Even if you had fought, you could have spent 50k - 100k on lawyers. So what was the point. You literally won - no lawyers, no mental turmoil, time saved. Drive a uber for 1 year and cover up costs. If you have no …

Later on if you try to lower your job that will not lower your support payments automatically. But I see your point. Atleast you may not want to earn investment income. In that case you can also buy investment property overseas and dont tell tax authorities.
/r/Divorce_Men06/08/25 02:47 AM

But your income will counted as soon as it appears in your tax return. What do you do after receiving your income (putting it in insurance) will not do anything to not show your income on tax return.

Alimony is huge in Canada. I have heard some us states like texas florida has almost no SS but in canada no matter where you are courts are very generous with alimony. So no canada is worse than usa.

Then you can leave but better stay inside the house and go munk mode. Total grey rock. If she blames you, say I dont agree. Your answer should not exceed more than one sentence. Show no emotions, dont aim for anything. Show you are completely indifferent. Thats the key.

I had heard that Texas is father friendly. Alimony is rare: non existent and child support is capped. Is that not right?

Listen to this advice very carefully bro. 1. If possible dont try to rush it. She is already out of house. Just start building your life already and be patient with the paper signing. 2. If you try to rush it, she might see that you need it badly. She will purposefully delay it. So instead sail in the boat that you simply dont care. That will actually get it done faster. 3. Unless you need to remarry, dont rush it. 4. Dont give up what is yours. Weather it out.

How does this work?
/r/Divorce_Men11/07/25 07:53 AM

Good, did your wife work? How long was marriage? Kids involved? How easy is 50/50 physical custody here? And how bad is child support.

I have heard that Sweden is best for guys and in general the best for divorces. Least rip off by lawyers and family law mafia.

Does SS payments change if your salary reduced. I have heard that they can get income imputed. Only if OP leaves country forever with no intention to come back this can work.

Sam here recommendations. What if you live in a small apartment. She wont allow cameras in bedroom or family area. Its not easy to pull this off

That was good. Mine are very clever. They have been through this process a couple of times and knows all tricks.

Thanks. I make around 50k more than her. I agree with wont be easy. I’m also considering letting her have primary custody time. But Im very involved in my child life as of now. So Im not sure i may reget giving up my time later. I may be able to ask my parents to help me out by moving here but it’s not confirmed yet.

No, we are renting. Her family and I are not on talking terms anymore. But I have been very bad messages on her phone about me talking to her family. Also she discusses every detail about our relationship with her family. So thats that. They are together in this.

I posted in Divorce Dads and got some helpful responses from people outside the province, which I really appreciate. That said, I’m posting again to see if there’s anyone specifically in Vancouver who can connect. Even if you're not local, feel free to DM me—any support is welcome!

Is it true that presumption of shared custody is scrapped in AZ recently. If so, why was it scrapped? People against presumption of shared custody are saying that its because litigation increased due to that which seems counterintuitive to me.

Since she has to pay you CS if you get 50/50. That gives her a lot of incentive to not let you have 50/50. If you simply move out, my feeling is that she will try various tactics using her lawyer to delay or avert both outcomes - 50/50 and CS.

No actually his logic is that DV is criminal case and if she is stupid enough to go that route, it can really complicate the case. But realistically IMO camera deterrent will work. Things will get ugly though.

Thanks. For (3), basically he said he has authority to make decisions on my behalf like choosing what mediator or negotiating.
/r/Divorce_Men08/05/24 06:35 PM

He said if we act instantly like moving applications and starting asking for parenting time. That status quo wont help much in long term. But IMO that status quo will be substantial in negotiations.

Agree
/r/Divorce_Men08/05/24 06:32 PM

Absolutely, make sense. To protect any false DV, I think even if camera footage is hard to admit as evidence in court. It acts as quite good deterrent.

Got it, thanks.
/r/Divorce_Men08/05/24 06:30 PM

Actually if I have to video record to avoid false DV allegations I need to put up cameras which can be quite hard to hide.

Thanks this is very useful.
/r/Divorce_Men08/05/24 06:24 PM

Hmm, makes sense. I think the risk comes if you go to trail but otherwise it is a took for negotiations especially if the other person has done it.
/r/Divorce_Men08/05/24 06:24 PM

Thanks. So any accounts or assets outside the country should not be disclosed. But what will be the repercussions if she is also to discover it later or judge finds out in trial? Also, what is the logic behind doing small 10k every few days?
/r/Divorce_Men08/05/24 06:05 PM
1

In my case I have family in a foreign country. Is there a specific process for gifting? Or should I just make a cross border etransfer? Does the amount of 100k make sense and worth it? I’m assuming doing for anything less than that might not be worth it.

Thanks bro. Makes sense.

What is the reason behind dont start a side hustle. I already pay all the bills man. I pay entire rent. She pays for day care which is 1/3 the rent. Recently I’m doing grocery, pay internet as well. 80% expenses I’m paying already. And why do you suggest keep things boring and fair in initial divorce filing?
/r/Divorce_Men05/05/24 09:22 AM

I have two meetings lined up with layers next week. I have literally spent 100s of hours researching and pretty much understand the process.

Drop a DM bro. May be talking one to one can help.
/r/Divorce_Men05/05/24 07:59 AM
1

Are you suggesting I file but wait to serve her until testing the waters with the mediated divorce conversation. If yes I think I like this idea. Btw in our case there is no owned house. Its a rented apartment and our accounts are separate. There are no major assets. Only two cars. The only main issue should be custody matter. .
/r/Divorce_Men05/05/24 07:58 AM

If you guys own the house, and have children I think better to not move at all. Someone pointed out this nice video https://www.youtube.com/live/-YbNC2kqI1o?si=aTcnqjT98g0M378J. DM me if you need to talk.

Its so sad that men are equally oppressed, afraid, and fearful and the narrative out there is of the giant horrid husband torturing small and sweet miss butterfly.

Bro let’s connect over DM as we both have a looming shit storm at bay. Btw, can you suggest what ring camera you got? Any links?
/r/Divorce_Men05/05/24 07:42 AM

Bro I think life is too short to live in submission. Its quite hard to just sever your spouse as paperwork coming out of blue is like an attack but I think it needs to be done for everyones good.
/r/Divorce_Men05/05/24 07:40 AM
1

Agree! Thanks for making these things explicit. In our case accounts are already separate and all our devices are already locked and not in each other reach. As I said we barely talk anyways. Just there is not much fighting.
/r/Divorce_Men05/05/24 07:38 AM
2

Haha, the reverse phycology is a good tool expect my spouse knows me too well for that to work. Doesn’t CS also rise when you income rose in those 5 years. I agree its not going to be a factor after a while but to start with its hard to digest that you have to pay this amount when I know my spouses parents are quite well off. Its like a punishment.
/r/Divorce_Men05/05/24 07:35 AM
2

So sorry to hear that you have to go through that bro.
/r/Divorce_Men05/05/24 07:31 AM

I think the same is going to happen here. Are you still staying in the same house? Have you put cameras/ recorders?
/r/Divorce_Men02/05/24 06:34 PM
1

Thanks. Yes, that is rationale. But I will double check about it with a lawyer.
/r/Divorce_Men02/05/24 06:32 PM
2

Yes its not saveable in my opinion. I have tried by arguing and explaining my cause and she started saying that I’m ‘harassing’ her.
/r/Divorce_Men02/05/24 06:31 PM
1

Thanks, I’m definitely planning on keeping a sound recorder. Is putting cameras considered okay? Wont she/ judge say that it infringes her privacy. Should I put it in all rooms or just the main hall?
/r/Divorce_Men02/05/24 06:30 PM

My worry is that she might take it as declaration of war and then costs of divorce can go up fast.

Which state is this law in?
/r/Divorce_Men27/04/24 06:20 AM

I’m in the same boat as well. Know it needs to end but can’t muster the courage. Fear of unknown is biggest impediment. Plus fear that she wont take it easy. May be put some false allegations to stear the custody in her favour. Seeing a therapist. Did you find divorce coach helpful?
