i'll assume you guys were married for quite a while? I've always heard AZ is one of the better states for men, and the child support is really just a worksheet math problem, not subjective. That seems like a pretty big amount...

$200k? Thats one hell of a bill for such a short marriage and salaries that are nice but not excessive....what was the big ticket shit? I would assume some real estate that had some solid appreciation...

I just went through a divorce after five years… Before this, I would get so frustrated and mad. I probably looked on the Internet for divorce lawyers and general info three or four times… It’s a red flag for sure… I would highly recommend getting counseling NOW as a preventative measure… this whole thing does NOT mean that things are wrong, but we’re wired a certain way, and it takes a little longer to re-circuit yourself… And as pretty much everyone with kids will say here… The marriage was lam…

Her nickel and diming me is petty. Trying to take my retirement is petty. The big picture is conservation.

Yes, I fully realize that ‘destroying her’ really just means she’s barely going to get anything and she’ll have to adult alone for the first time in her life. Still a loss for me…for everyone, especially my amazing kids that are too young to know what’s going on.

She paid $250 for a consult, and I’ve also done consults with 5 lawyers in town to get a good sense. I fully realize 99% here will tell me I’m only fucking myself, but I need to know that I tried. Trying to add at least a bit of hope to this sub.

yeah I just got rattled watching the Divorce Corp documentary, not wanting to spend an extra $10k just to get NOT what I want...but again, my spouse is too scared to act on her own, even at the cost of thousands...that she doesnt have.

Kids being 50/50 is uncontested. What I want is to keep my assets, and not pay her shit.

I feel you, in the same boat. What I’ve come to realize is that I fucking LOVE my beautiful son and daughter (both under 3), but I’m just over my wife. I also like my two properties I’ve bought and my own money. Long story short, my wife isn’t horrid, but it’s just not there. I’m more concerned with my kids and my finances than her. That being said, she’s the one that wants to file, and won’t go to therapy with me. It KILLS me knowing that in a best case scenario, I won’t be able to put my son t…

I get the set image for sure, seeing through your shit ass tone. But we’re talking 2-3 years away (with visits), for the sake of setting up my next 15 years which will allow for a better home for them to live in, not to want for anything, and even go to college without needing loans.

Talking about a legal separation, not a post nup. But yes, still…if she wants an attorney she’ll get one

Is it only immediately after marriage, does it still apply if you’ve been married for a couple years?

I’ve went to two separate lawyers in town, neither one will confirm or deny this other than tell me that at least in Arizona, legal separation is exactly the same as a divorce except your simply not divorced… so seems kinda pointless. In order for them to go into detail about how we could protect my assets, I’ll have to retain them.

hence the legal separtion papers...it basically nullifies the community property, IF you can get their signatures.

What exactly are these two signatures? I am looking at the form, I only see one at the end.
