Alright, another insightful money article by Dunleavey about why women pay more, and how awful it is.

Suckers.

I will give the number one reason women pay more from products than men: STATUS (heh, you thought I was going to say stupidity, nope.  I don’t think women are stupid, quite the contrary, they just tend to be more average.  There are more brilliant men, there are more stupid ones, we corner both ends of that market).

That’s right ladies, you pay more because YOU want to pay more for status.  A perfect example:  Purses.

You go to Vegas and you’ll see as many displays for expensive purses as you do for jewelry.  Expensive purses.  There’s no reason in the world that a man would pay $1000.00+ for a freaking fancy grocery bag, but a woman would, so she can proudly display it to other women to show off her status.

Next time you are out with a bunch of women and see them throw their purse out in front of them and rummage through it, know that they are doing that to show off the purse to the other woman.

No other reason.

So, to all the businesses, corporations and other companies that package the same stuff you sell to men and give it a fancy, feminine name and gouge the shit out of women, my hat is off to you.

Keep up the good work.

For the women that want this to change, well guess what sisters, it starts with you, not them and you have to be a cohesive little sisterhood to overcome it and give up on your status displays . . .

Yeah, I thought so.

Now for the little lies in Ms. Dunleavey’s article, and they are lies about how unfair things are.  Let’s start with this one:

A 2006 study (.pdf download) by the Consumer Federation of Americaimg-1784335463-6a5acc67661688.58027981.gif indicated that women were 32% more likely than men of similar income to carry subprime mortgages. Those subprime interest rates topped 7.66% when the average prime mortgage rate was 5.87%. On a $100,000 loan, that’s nearly $120 a month more — about $43,000 more over 30 years. Women were 41% more likely to end up with high-cost subprime loans, at rates above 9.66%.

So unfair, right?  O.k. let’s get back to basics, 70% of our economy is driven by consumer spending, and women make up around 70-80% of that.  So the vast majority of spending in our economy is done by women, so what’s the other half doing?  They’re saving money and buy items that at least arguably have some equity in them.

But I’m not done, the reality is consumers have been spending 122% of what they make overall, well if the majority of spending is done by women, then the majority of consumer debt out there is driven by women.

There’s a reason credit cards and women liberation coincided.  If the majority of the women have huge consumer debt (and I know very few that don’t), then by definition you are higher risk than most men and should pay more for your loans.

That is quite fair, more than fair.

Next little bit of B.S.:

Most recently, during the debate over health care, another nasty reality was brought back into the spotlight: Many insurance companies charge women higher premiums and/or impose harsher terms (by rejecting claims or curtailing coverage), especially for those of childbearing age. Examples ranged from 22% to 50% higher, depending on age and state.

Here’s the thing, ladies, even excluding the costs and risks of child birth, you use two thirds of the health care in this country.  You use it twice as much, you should pay twice as much.  You’re getting a great deal, and men are the ones paying for it.

Again.

All that bunk about women being the stronger sex, flies out the window when you realize all the routine maintenance they need just to keep running.  Sure that old Rolls Royce lasted longer and looks prettier, but you can only take it out when it isn’t raining, not in the winter and not when they roads are messy.  The Pick-Up Truck may not last as long, but its got way more miles on it and has done a lot more interesting things.

I am not quite done with health care,  women complain about how the health care system is pro male?  How so?

When was the last time people wore brown ribbons for prostate awareness week, or had health seminars or clinics, or galas directed at them?  I could go on.

Dunleavey goes right back to the tired (and false) old saw about them making less, but when you average actual hours worked, women make more than men, not less.  So we all know that’s just a lie.  Women want to make more money for being lazy.

She ends her articles telling women to buy like a man, and they certainly could do that, but like I said the road block in their way is status.  You pay more because you want to show you can pay more.

I have no sympathy for your weakness.
