Let’s face it-the Blogosphere, be it on the HBD, Game, “Manosphere”, heck, even Feminist sides, is basically White dominated. For whatever reason, it just is, and the numbers of Bloggers of Color are relatively few and far between.
Yet, as the author of the post I’m about to examine here, Prime of the blogsite “Beta Revolution” notes rightly, Race is an obsession for us all, at least here in the USA. It is fraught with many questions, implications and strong emotions, that go right to the heart of who, and what we are, and can be.
I keep those thoughts in mind as I, as a kind of “alien observer” kind of stand back and watch the blogosphere, and just take note of the sheer number of words devoted to Race, and let’s be frank here-devoted to African Americans, in the main-a most curious development, given the oft-stated declarations of less than flowery things said about my fellow Black Americans. In fact, if one didn’t know better, one just might think that there might be a bit of Fruedian psychology at work with all the handwringing and whatnot.
Anyway, Prime gives his thoughts on 2007’s James Watson controversy; here’s what he says:
“I hope I do not come off as being bitter and disconnected based on what I write about here. I’m really not, and I don’t write about particular things just to burn or offend people . I’m naturally of the congenial, laid-back sort, but I also have this tick inside my head that requires me to tell the unflattering truth, as I’ve acquired it, at least somewhere to whomever will read or hear it. That somewhere just happens to be here. A couple years ago, Dr. James D. Watson, co-discoverer of DNA’s structure and wily raconteur, being the greybeard that he is, left behind a book of principles to live by if you’re planning on giving a science career a go. While my career aspirations don’t totally center on the hard sciences, I walked away from the book refreshed and re-centered. It was an intellectual cherry-topped, fudge-covered sundae.
And much as Watson’s unflattering comments about Africa and its prospects were merely incidental to the accumulation of knowledge across his life’s work, I’m going to try to give conceptualizations of ‘race’ a rest for a while, probably. (Though you can’t blame anyone for getting caught up in such an engrossing field of discourse. Race. It has something to do with who or what we are, and what our ancestors were. It is dynamite in the minds of the strictly logical and the fanciful alike.)”
Oh, come now Prime-don’t even front like you’re not fascinated with our national obsession with Race. Besides, you’ve been known to have an opinion or two yourself, which I fully intend to more thoroughly examine in due course. But for now, let’s address Watson’s fatal faux pas, in the light of the times in which we live…
As Maria Shriver’s latest report “A Woman’s Nation” clearly points out, the New Grrl Order has not only arrived, but by all accounts, it is here to stay-at least for the foreseeable future-and ANY guy that doesn’t get with the program can and will find themself unceremoniously talking to the hand, out of a job, and feverishly working it out with the Five Fingers Of Death. Now, what does this have to do with Dr. Watson, you might ask?
Well, as it turns out, everything-Watson, you see, is an anachronism, a kind of relic of the way things were, where crotchety, prickly, irreverent and argumentative types like Watson could be such, and part of the reason was, one, there were a lot less Women in the workplace, and two, because guys like Watson had the skills to backup their otherwise antisocial ways.
That was then. This is now.
With Women now dominant in the workplace, for a Man to succeed, he has to be more than merely competent-he also has to have GAME. Which, in this instance, means, being smooth. Not being a politically incorrect prick. Like Watson was. He was selling a book, not giving a lecture before academic peers on the why’s and wherefores of HBD. The book had nothing to do w/his completely off the cuff remarks about Africa, he was the one to take it there. And he’s not socially saavy enough to understand that what you say around your eggheaded homeboys you cannot say around others who either are Women themselves, or, are deeply influenced by what Women find appealing. In case you’re wondering what point I’m driving at, let me be blunt-yes, I mean, you have to be good with Bullshitting people, if you want to succeed socially. Men with super tight Game tend to be the best Bullshitters, hence why they tend to come from fields like Law, Sales and the like, fields that almost by necessity, put them into close proximity with Women. Watson may know a lot, but he damned sure don’t know one lick-pardon the pun-about Women, nor how A Woman’s Nation now works (and this is true for the UK too, where this all occurred, in fact, in some ways it may be said to be even more acute there-they still have a Queen, don’t you know). He made an un-necessary mistake that a first year Public Relations student would have warned him about, and he paid dearly for it. And no amount of attempting to make him into some kind of martyr’s gonna change things either. Bottomline: in the New Grrl Order, if you as a guy either can’t be bothered to learn how to appeal to Women’s sensibilities, you can and will be socially, legally, politically and sexually weeded out of the gene pool, post haste.
The proof? Dr. James Watson. Nope, its not about the “truth”, “facts”, “logic” or “reason”, and only Aspbergy-types with narrow obsessions on inanimate things tries to argue otherwise. Watson is/was a Great Man of Science, but he proved, yet again, why really smart White Guys SUCK when it comes to actually dealing with people, and especially Women.
I’m just sayin’. Let’s see how many of those who talk a mean uh, game, about being politically incorrect and “keeping it real” will actually admit that what I’m saying here is 100% TRUE…
