This article is biased in its own way. They claim Wikipedia has 4.4 million articles but this is for the English Wikipedia only. The entirety of the projects is much larger than that.

Deletion isn't a gender issue. There are people known as 'deletionists' who trawl Wikipedia looking for articles to nuke. I've saved many articles from deletion and speedy deletion. I am an 'inclusionist', meaning I set the bar much higher than the deletionists do.

The majority of citations come from websites. A lack of ancient texts mentioning women will be no disadvantage to getting an article in Wikipedia.

While I do agree that dealing with other Wikipedians can put people off, this is not a gender issue. The atmosphere may need to change but we need to understand this is not just about making it more friendly to women.

If I try to explain a concept like recursion or a binary search tree, no matter the gender, the answer is the exact same(unless the person doesn't understand the concept).

I pretend to be a man when I edit Wikipedia. It's much easier. After what happened to Zora, I was reluctant to reveal that I'm a girl.

Apparently using words to discuss problems that arise issues is unwelcoming to people and too 'old school' and intimidating.

"Wikipedia is not only an unwelcoming place to female editors, it's unwelcoming to most people," Lih says. "It's an old-school online community... and it has a tradition of verbal fighting and verbal debate. In the best cases, that leads to things that inform and inspire. In the worst cases, they lead to people feeling intimidated and uncomfortable."
