Are you freaking kidding me? Race isn't gender.

Do you really think people of color want to take some noble stand for the same white people who see a program like this and get mad at it? They aren't that stupid. The principals you speak of are the same ones held by the racists who'd use a program like this that Obama has it in for the whites and he's a Kenyan Muslim Anti Christ communist radical. This would be the same people who get elected by attacking black and brown people all the time. No...minorities are not super excited about solidarity with conservative whites. We put up with you nonetheless. I am truly grateful for liberal whites whose character and compassion is inspiring but oddly enough that often includes feminists. Do you see the position a Minority MRA is in? Don't make this into #SolidarityisForWhiteMen.

A stand on principal for whites doesn't get you very far when you are up against whites who find solidarity by attacking your race.

Notice your response was straight to resentment-- that's a problem. I been going around defending white men from attacks by white women for years but even this superficial a drop of hope coming for minorities facing disparities relative to whites so great that it makes the 1960's look like the good ole days is something for you to get mad at it. That's bullshit.

This is my point. The program was created to cause resentment.

It's race baiting.

How do I explain my point clearly...

Take a look at section 1 of the 14th Amendment of the constitution.

Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

Every constitutional scholar, including Obama, will tell you that the purpose of the 14th amendment was to grant freed slaves citizenship and full protection under the law. No where in the text does it mention freed slaves or race. If you were born in the U.S. -> you're a citizen - it applies to all of us. Few if any white people had their citizenship in doubt in 1865. This amendment was for freed slaves but it was written inclusively and was accepted by all.

When you create law or programs for only certain identities you create social division between the demographic you're trying to help and everyone else. Completely counterproductive unless you want to stir up shit for an election in 9 months.

This program should have been written as "a program to help children (not just boys) who face obstacles found in our schools, our communities, our criminal justice system, our families, and even in the minds of our young people themselves."

In practice, it will help Black and Hispanic boys more than anyone else because they are the ones facing the greatest obstacles but no one is excluded. It's a program we can all be proud of because it involves all of us.

I'm not making this #SolidarityisForWhiteMen.

I'm saying our laws/programs should be race and gender neutral. This doesn't mean every kid gets equal help regardless of whether they need it. Help should be provided on a needs basis - the more help you need the more you get.

The children that are helped should never think "I'm getting help from the government because I'm Black or Hispanic and there is a problem with Black or Hispanic boys." Instead they should think "I'm just an ordinary kid who's getting the help I need because all kids should have equal opportunities."

Oh, by the way I'm a minority MRA - I'm not white and I'm not conservative.

Where was that shit during Jim Crow? I'm serious. Oh yeah we had to wait for that liberal activist Warren Court to do something about it. Note the LIBERAL because that implies willingness to bring change.

Conservatives hate day and night for 5 years and they think someone is actually negotiating with them. Liberals no longer give a damn what you think because you are full of shit and full of hate. The problem for you is helping minorities because that means whites might not get something even if they aren't even close to suffering this problem like minorities. It's a white supremacist preservation mind set that takes the dominant group and protects it with a false promise of equality. We already did that under segregation but we didn't distribute the nations resources equally. In general we don't allocate our concern for humanity equally. When we have 1 in 3 black men going to prison it is not a national crisis but I'd assure you if it were white men we would. Only 1 in 17 of them go to prison and that's why it's not a major issue.

This isn't a equal system. We have majorities protecting self interest up against minorities dependent on majorities to look out for their interest. In the case of minorities they have been getting locked up like crazy for since the 1970's. From that time we've seen prison populations go up 700% and you'd think a Men' Rights activists would know shit like that but instead I have to argue why it's ok for the President to get private charities and organisations to help out black and brown boys who disproportionately fill our prisons generation after generation unlike white men. You get a felony record and your life is jacked. Who ends up with these felonies? It's really not equal.

Whatever. Seriously if you are going to play the role you are in it. I can't see color, I only see text. The issue at hand is one of allegiance to certain agendas. It's like someone telling me their not a feminist but I'm fighting 'rape culture'. Don't pull out the Constitution like that shit worked for colored people in 1920. How do you think we ended up with this racial sensitivity? It was an effort to compensate or all the injustice under that same constitution. The game can be rigged if you don't pay attention to history you'll end up letting them do it. Now if you were a Conservative white I'd say you are trying to do it. Not equal, but fair enough IMO. This is a adversarial business where a dominant group can hurt the weaker one without suffering much as a consequence. It's not a gender issue.

I don't deny that rates of incarceration and unemployment disproportionately affect people of color. I damn well know that it does. Also I think it's kinda ironic that Mr. "Stop-and-Frisk" Michael Bloomberg is one of the supporters of this initiative - now I know it's totally legit /s.

It's not about helping whites. It's about involving them in the solution. As it stands, by tomorrow morning 85% of the people are going to forget that this ever happened. The majority is going to do what they always do - "Oh, black people's problems - doesn't involve me - next". The only people that are going to remember are POC and bigots who act to motivate Dems to vote in November - that's why I said it was nothing more than race bating.

Everyone has to buy into solving the problem. Everyone has to say this is my problem and I'm glad the President is doing something about it. The only way you're going to do that is by casting a wide net and include everyone with race and gender neutral language.

TLDR; POC issue -> nobody gives a shit, everything continues as usual and it's just race baiting for votes. Everybody issue -> "Wait, you mean unlike my kid who gets his pot charges dropped there are POC boys that go to jail for simple pot possession? That's messed up we should change this."

Both are PoC issues and no that everybody frame would not make then give a shit unless their kids were going to jail for possession. It has to actually hurt EVERYBODY equally or at least enough that the blacks getting hurt more will get some help when majority being hurt less feel enough pain.

The problem isn't the racial framing, it's the racism. People are hostile to black people period and it's nothing new.

It's not about helping whites. It's about involving them in the solution.

Creating race based or gender based programs don't reduce divisions.

You know very little American history. We have been using targeted programs for a long time and they did break down divisions because in order to get racist/sexist white men to let others in they had to target other groups with initiatives to encourage inclusion and protect those who were included until the culture changed. That's our history like it or not. Things weren't always rosy and they aren't right now.

One country -> one law that applies equally to all of us with regards to the qualities about us that we cannot change.

The laws don't apply equally which is why we have people getting mad about sentencing and incarceration disparities between the sexes and races. It's like you don't even know your Men's Rights stuff. The people hit hardest by aggressive application of the law end up worse off then people like you play dumb when someone tries to help them by screaming IT'S NOT FAIR TO HELP THOSE PEOPLE!

Let's get into the nitty gritty details. Lets pick one issue...literacy.

From the web site...

By the time they hit fourth grade, 86 percent of African American boys and 82 percent Hispanic boys are reading below proficiency levels — compared to 54 percent of white fourth graders reading below proficiency levels.

86 and 82 percent are definitely crisis levels - but 54 percent illiteracy isn't exactly good news.

How do you think the parents of those 54% of white kids that can read are going to think when they see this new Obama initiative?

They're not going to think "oh well, at least 46% of white kids can read so even though my kid can't read that's OK."

Nope. They're going to try to kill this program because they'll think it's unfair to their kid.

Now if the program was open to every kid what are they going to say.

Probably something along the lines of "Thank goodness the President is taking this seriously and trying to get the nation's literacy levels up. African American and Hispanic kids have a longer way to go so it's OK if they get extra help but at least my kid can benefit from this initiative."
