It actually is about that. The kid has a father; the father just doesn't happen to be related to her biologically. If I raised someone to the age of 7 with a woman I love, it would absolutely fucking destroy me to have the child I love more than anything else in the world taken away from me by some fuck up who may or may not have his life together.

It's about what's best for the kid, and what's best for the kid is family stability.

It's not about what's best for the mother. It's about what's best for the child. And having a stable traditional family with parents who love each other and the child is most likely best.

There is nothing wrong with the advice being given. The dude isn't being made to pay child support or anything, and the woman has taken on the responsibility of the child and has put the event behind her. What good would bringing this event up do? That would be a lose lose lose lose, for the man, the woman, the woman's husband and the child.
