Good article.

You have no idea how much the insurance thing ticks me off...looking for insurance I was shocked at how much it was. So I went back and changed my gender - nothing else - and wound up getting a quote less than half of what I'd have to actually pay because I'm a male. It's atrocious.

It especially ticks me off because I'm the best driver out of almost all my friends who drive, mostly female. I have one friend who's been in multiple collisions, and caused a lot of minor damage, but her insurance stays the same. How? I've noticed that women, or at least my friends who are women, tend to settle issues outside the insurance companies, while men generally go through insurance.

Needless to say I haven't driven since I gave up my second job and started going to school.

With the ACA making it so that women no longer pay more for health insurance just because they're women isn't it also time that the cost for men become the same as for women with driver's insurance?

Thanks to anti-discrimination legislation, In the UK it's illegal for insurance companies to discriminate on the base of gender.

In the UK Young men are stuck with the "boy racer" tag until 25 only then do prices begin very gradually to decrease. I wouldn't be driving at all now if it wasn't for being on the company I work fors policy. It's astronomically expensive these days

I still don't get how different rates per demographics are legal in this day and age.

"Blacks should pay more for middle school, because they will more likely be arrested and not give anything back to the society" argument comes to mind.

This article doesn't jibe with my experience.

My experience is that young men have no interest in driving, or ..anything really.
