You've fallen for feminist propaganda, I'm afraid. Feminists like to claim to be socialist, get the Che Guevara mystique, lay claim to the tradition of representing the oppressed, but it's not true.

Americans have strange ideas. About socialism, about the supposed nurturing tendencies of women, which feminists and the like try to present as a reason for their allegedly socialist leanings. I come from a country where women overwhelmingly vote for the Conservatives, the horrible reactionary right wing bunch. I know in America the traditional feminist approach of exploiting the oppressed blacks has led to them supporting the Democrats, and becoming the main beneficiaries of the Civil Rights Act, as corporations were the main beneficiaries of the 14th Amendment. And as it tried to exploit desegregation, feminism has tried to exploit and sabotage worthy causes elsewhere, like socialism.

But socialism was made by men, for men. Because women don't need it. IF they find themselves unemployed or abandoned or homeless, women don't need the levellers, because women can always rely on the kindness of strangers, the white knights, the charities, the local government, the churches, their families, their hypergamous instincts. Men can rely on no-one but themselves and their brothers-in-arms in the socialist movement.

In EP Thompson's the Making of the English Working Class, he talks about dark satanic mills, and their hiring policies. Specifically, they refused to hire men because men would demand better conditions, better pay, would form unions. So they restricted men to jobs too tough for women to do, and gave women all the rest. Women didn't form unions, or make demands, they just did what they were told. The government eventually passed laws to help them, while men only got laws when socialists forced the issue.

And of course the earliest feminists were led by Emmeline Pankhurst, who as well as being an abusive mother was a Poor Law Guardian, who subjected the poor to slave labour in workhouses, which split up families if they became destitute and left the children with the mothers. She did think the plight of the women in the workhouses was unfortunate, allegedly, but ther men under her care she didn't care about at all, and just had them spend all day digging ditches and filling them back in again, and suchlike, so they wouldn't fall prey to indolence.

And the early feminists and socialists didn't get on, see the great socialist and anti-feminist E Belfort Bax, or the socialists agitating for the vote who opposed the suffragettes, not because they didn't want women to have3 the vote, but because suffragettes didn't want poor men to have the vote. Women, of course, were welcome in the socialist movement, as with the Poplarists, who refused to raise taxes on their constituents to allow richer areas to have lower taxes, and therefore were sent to prison for disobeying the county council. Even the woman who was pregnant was sent to prison, not asking or receiving special treatment. They held their council meetings in prison. The men's prison, the women were bussed from the women's prison.

Feminism has continued to be against socialism. Gloria Steinem, for example, started her career subverting socialist youth movements for the American government, disrupting leftist youth meetings and so on. Sanger trying to eugenically elininate the poor. Or see the modern feminist hatred of Nestor Makhno.

Ultimately socialism is the idea that all men are equal, and should work together, while its opposition is the idea that there are alpha males who deserve all the money and pussy they can shake a stick at and who are served by feminism, hypergamy and indifference to the plight of most men. I know whose side I'm on.

I would say feminism is Marxism with panties. Stefan has an excellent speaking voice. Easy video to listen to and he had some excellent points.

What is it with this Neo-McCarthyism I keep seeing in MR forums? Are we really back to the 50s red scare mentality of using "socialism" as some sort of bad word that we should all fear, actual meaning aside?

I don't care if people disagree with the ideology, but please, please stop trying to politicise the MR movement. It's divisive and excludes those of us who happen to like socialism - and it is absolutely and utterly irrelevant. The problem with radical feminism is not that they want to make everyone more equal or that they want more state meddling in economic affairs. That's not even remotely related to the actual problems we are dealing with here.
